Just an awesome atmosphere at Dublin Ace. I've never been to a store where all the employees are so nice, it seems like they all get along like one big family. I needed some paint and the employee Jill was nice enough to call someone to help me. I was already loving talking to Jill then I was helped by C.J. and he was awesome. He listened to me and got me exactly what I wanted. I couldn't believe how friendly and nice he was literally to everybody. I'm now under the impression that every store needs a C.J. I come to this Ace hardware regularly because everyone who works here is incredibly helpful and kind. The store is easy to navigate, and the prices are lower than the competition. I want to call out the employees for being remarkably friendly, but I want to comment in how great C.J is, and how he adds to the positive atmosphere of this specific Ace hardware. read more

The employees are always curtious. I really am upset how the management treated my return issue. I purchased 4 items on clearance, when I went to return one item, THEY SAID I COULDN'T, it's on clearance. I mentioned that there was no signage stating that items were not refundable, nor did the cashier mention it!! They (mngmt) said I should have known - - REALLY!!??? Totally rude AND wrong. They then stated that it is written on the bottom of my receipt... So that would be after I purchased it, I could see that it's not returnable, is that where they tell me that I can't return it????!! It's wrong of them. But for you who are reading this, apparently if it has a black dot on the UPC code it's not returnable - choose wisely. read more

Very happy Dublin has a nice hardware store like this Ace Hardware. They have a nice selection of various items and helpful employees. Vastly knowledgeable over the people at what I like to call Home CheapO. I came here to leave a review and was shocked to see some negative experiences :( I had an extra positive experience recently which has prompted this review. I'll be honest I don't come to Ace regularly when I need to make a purchase of tools or hardware, etc, but I have been to this location a handful of times (probably 5-10 since they've opened) and have never had a negative experience. The employees are always really friendly and the stores always clean and well organized. I particularly enjoy the green egg product selection they have and have been able to find some other things you can't find at a Lowe's or Home Depot. There are quite a few negative reviews around the return policy but I recently came in to see if I could return a drill bit I had purchased almost 2 months ago that I never used. The return policy is 30 days but the employees were really understanding and made an exception to allow me to return it and get my money back. It did help I didn't open the packaging, but I know it was still beyond the return period and really appreciated their understanding and the exception they made for me. I'll definitely continue shopping here and recommend it to others. read more

"They forced me to buy a pitchfork!" I'm delighted to have this wonderful, huge, brand new hardware store in the heart of Dublin. There's plenty of parking in this spacious strip mall on Village Parkway. Being a guy, I love to just wander around hardware stores looking at power tools and other guy stuff. Sort of like watching a John Wick movie, but not so violent, plus you have to pay. I was interested in a pitchfork, and the price was so good I had no option. They even had a bonus offer, which saved me $5 from the already reasonable price. Resistance was futile. I never know what I'm going to find in this big business. They have pies, socks , BBQ sauce, keys, replacement screens--Oh no, I just remembered I'm supposed to get some replacement screens! I was so enamored with my new pitchfork that I forgot. It's not my fault--they just have too much interesting merchandise. The pleasant manager, Tommy, explained that they're going to be adding a garden center when they get city approval. It's a complicated process, he explained. So all in all, another wonderful visit. It's a great store, and I really love my new pitchfork. read more

I didn't have any issues shopping here, the store is nice and big and they had an ample selection of Christmas decor to look at! The employees were nice enough, I mean I never expect retail employees to smile their energy away at everyone but they weren't rude or anything. It's located in a center with a strip of little stores. The parking can fill up but generally I always find a spot. I'm glad we have a local store like this where we can run and find what we need to fix things! The times that I've been I haven't had issues with lines being so bad I dread it. read more

I love having a neighborhood hardware store!!!! They have just about everything you could need. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They even offer to help me load things into my truck. I appreciate their proactive service. Only downsides - they are pricey, and if you're shopping for things like fixtures the options are limited. However, if you're on a mission for BBQ supplies (including seasonings), gifts (including toys and educational items), or an amazing take and bake pie - this is the place for you!!!! read more

His demeanor really showed what Ace Hardware of Dublin truly is. For everyone who needs to return an item please go to the one in San Ramon or Danville location. The people there will treat you with respect and apologize for the Dublin stores behavior. I'm gonna do my best to hurt their store with the return policy. I will buy tons of items from the San Ramon and Danville location. And I'll make sure that they're not used or opened, and I will go in there and demand a refund, literally flooded them with go backs. And I'll keep doing it every single week. I was very disappointed in my experience shopping here. I wanted to support this store since it is a local business, but the employees seem more interested in socializing with each other than actually helping customers. I am not familiar with the layout of this store or their products, and needed help trying to find items. They would point here and there, but not walk with me and guide me on what product to choose, which one is better, etc. Finally, I had to take matters into my own hands and go to the front counter to get help. The lady called someone, but it took a couple of minutes for that person to arrive. Meanwhile, there is a group of employees at the front socializing. I am not sure why that one person had to be called to help me, when the others were just hanging around. Couldn't the other employees help me or is it just all on that one person? When I finally got help, the person was friendly enough, but he also seemed a little bothered that I needed some help. He guided me on the things I needed, but then left quickly and didn't completely help me. He just left and went back to talk to some of the other employees. It wasn't until I practically found everything on my list that the employees became more attentive to me. It was after the fact that they suddenly recognized me and asked me if I needed help. Beware of this stores "NO RETURN POLICY ". Even though their corporate policy is 30 day. This store refused to honor the policy. Here is what happened I bought a gas trimmer, used it once and was not satisfied with performance. Went in store to return it, they flat out refused. I can understand that as these folks are fairly new and too many returns would hurt their business. And me especially living right across I would definitely love to support them. So I asked for alternatives: a.) Can I get a store credit: answer was NO b.) Sir can I upgrade to another trimmer that is pricier: answer was NO c.) I really hate this product, I will just have to sell it in craigs list for 50% discount; do I have any other options: The manager turned into a robot and flat out refused. Talk about customer service, this store would "ACE" it. I had used this store for all my needs against my better judgement to shop in Big Box stores that are couple miles away. Overall 4.5 out of 5, rounded up to 5. Well it's definitely nice to have a local hardware store in west dublin again. The store overall is a tad smaller when compared to its Sam Ramon and Livermore counterparts. The staff are always proactive in terms of trying to answer your questions or showing where things are located. The only thing that is a slight disappointment is the much smaller gardening area. I'm definitely glad they have plants, but when compared to it's other stores or even Home Depot or lowes, the variety let alone selections are alittle limited imo. The prices seem to be a tad high here and there, but I would suggest to being on their rewards program to get online or coupons in the mail to reduce your cost. read more

Don't normally review chain stores, but this place deserves credit. The staff here is absolutely the nicest and most helpful staff you will ever meet in a hardware store. Usually at Home Depot or Lowes, you can't find people to help, and when you do, they really don't help much or they don't know where anything is. This place is the exact opposite. In an effort to avoid the other hardware store (initials H.D.) due to their political affiliation, I stopped in at Ace. WOW. I know this is a hardware store but it was CLEAN and the workers were super friendly. The store was organized and you really felt like you were at the neighborhood hardware store. The employees went above and beyond to help me look for what I came in for and gave suggestions on where I could look next. I ended up finding what I needed at a craft store but wanted to check here just in case there were more options. The entire shopping experience is different here, and way better than any other hardware store I've been to. I'll definitely switch over to Ace Hardware going forward. Run to Home Depot or Lowe's! Avoid at all cost! Please trust me! Horrible return policy!!! Their own sales associates even told my husband. My husband and I purchased capacitor for our air conditioner today. Jerry (sales associate - not the manager), was super helpful with my husband. The capacitor they carry was a little bigger than the one we're trying to replace. He recommended using something like a zip tie. We took his recommendation and purchased the item. Figured we can return it if the zip tie recommendation doesn't work. To our surprise, my husband was told by the store manager that all electric purchases are final sale when he tried to return it (same day). Their receipt literally say, case by base so it doesn't say all electric purchases are final sales. Jerry felt bad and offer to purchase the capacitor from my husband but my husband didn't want him (such a nice guy) to be responsible for his shitty manager's actions. I hope Jerry go and work for Home Depot or Lowe's because he's too smart and nice to work for a manager who doesn't even know the store return policy or maybe he just doesn't know how to read. I come here occasionally for paint, but this is actually where I repeatedly come for pie. They have a freezer near the register with a fantastic pie selection. I love the peach cobbler, apple Dutch, and pumpkin pies. The lady at the register is also the sweetest person ever. read more

I went in today in order to get a new battery for one of my electrical components at my house and I was greeted by Jeremy the manager. He did a fantastic job of helping me find the correct battery quickly. I was also interested in getting a special engraving for Valentine's Day for my wife. Jeremy and a gentleman named Ssippi took their time to help me pick out the exact product that I needed and took their time to make sure that they created a great item for me to give my wife. Terrible return polices and was treated with disrespect. I went to return a $2 item that was hand picked from the shelf by one of their employees. It only sat on my counter until I returned it 2 weeks later. When I went to return it, they said they could not accept it because it was opened. When I looked at a new product it did appear to be 'taped' however the manager wouldn't give me the benefit of the doubt for such an inexpensive policy. If they have such a policy then they shouldn't be resolving opened items. Now I paid for it and was treated as less than. Previous returns were also painful where anything over $50 required manager approval for an item clearly defect. It is too bad. Was so happy to have a hardware store nearby, but given the nature of home improvement needing regular returns and the always I was treated I'll avoid shopping here and go somewhere I can trust and be treated better read more

I came here to get a new car key battery and only the supervisor knew how to replace it. Unfortunately he struggled to open my key fob and had cracked the plastic so my key fob does not look as pristine as it did when I came into the store. I went home and tried it out but it didn't work so I went back to the store and found a different worker to help me. He was patient and came out to my car but still couldn't get the key fob to unlock/lock. He offered a refund but the cashier could not figure out how to offer one. 3 stars for the trying to help and for the frozen pies in the front of the store. I love Ace Hardware. I love the products they carry and their staff is ALWAYS helpful and friendly. My fave location is in Danville and Pleasanton comes in 2nd. When I heard that Ace was coming to Dublin, I was super excited!!! Unfortunately, my excitement was short lived when I finally visited the store. It's super small and doesn't carry much. Purchase some hardware from Ace Hardware because they have specialty nuts and bolts that you can't get at Home Depot or Lowe's. Try to return them. I don't have a receipt and I don't have an account with them and it wouldn't take my purchase back. If you are in doubt of purchasing something, go to Home Depot or Lowe's because they can look up your purchase using your credit card so you don't buy stuff that you don't need and then have to just thrown in the trash. Probably will never shop at this Ace Hardware again. read more
