This review is in regards to their printing department. I went in middle of the afternoon to print 1 page, so I walked over to the printing area to wait for someone to assist. Someone walked over and told me that the guy that does printing doesn't come in until 2p, so I can wait for an hour and come back or use self-service. It was just one sheet of paper so I opted for self-service. I'm preparing to print my sheet, but I wanted to use cardstock so I asked another guy if I can have a sheet of cardstock for my printing job and he said the guy that does printing isn't here so I can wait for him or come back because he wasn't sure if the printer can take cardstock. Unbelievable! There were at least 5-6 employees at the store and NO ONE knew how to use their printer? That is absolutely ridiculous. If you plan to come here to print something, make sure you call ahead to see if someone is even there to assist because it was such a waste of my time when no one there could help. This is a 2 star review because they were all nice, but not helpful at all. read more

This review is just for the printing department. A couple of months ago I had called in about pricing and a specific job. Name tags on Avery paper they sold. And a few other simple prints on paper. The guy on the phone I originally spoke to was helpful and nice. The one star comes due to my in person experience. I go in and ready to have them print my job and the gal says sorry we don't do name tags if it's on perforated paper because the printer will jam it. I explained that I spoken to someone a few days before and they said there was no issue. I also noted that the paper says it can be done in an ink jet - I just don't have one. She refused to help me and I was now stuck in a major bind. Frustrated, stressed and annoyed I drive to FedEx Printing team off First Street and they saved the day. I wouldn't ever trust coming to this location as different information is given. I'll def be taking my promotions to FedEx. read more

10/10 reccomended this location for your print needs. Historically I've utilized their services for business related services (blueprints) and they're fast and reasonably priced. You can order online in advance and then just show up to pick up your order later, usually same or next day but if you can they can give you a realistic expectation or sometimes expedite if you're on a time crunch, After spending $16 for an 11x14 print with an online company, it showed up with the wrong finish and wasn't going to work for my needs. I knew I needed to go in person and check out some paper finishes. Sure enough they had a nice cardstock that would work for my need, printed my order over the counter for me and I was in and out in about 5 minutes. And, they only charged me $3. Talk about a win! It was a good reminder in the value of supporting brick and mortar stores. Check them out for all your printing needs! read more

I always find print paper on sale and my printer ink always in stock. Parking is available and employees always appear to be ready to help but they generally don't engage. This was super easy, the curbside pick up. It went great! Order online, they send you an email when order is ready within a day. You drive and park out front and tap the email that you are curbside and someone brings your stuff out right away and helps you load it into your vehicle. The staff were exceptionally nice and there was no wait. They came out with my things almost immediately. They were covid'd attired with mask and gloves. I would do this again! This was on a Saturday afternoon. They were not too busy which was nice but the Home Depot next door had a long line snaked out the door of people waiting to get in there. I just hate that this is the only chain office supply in Livermore. I only go here for one product called "ecopackaging" which is a cushion filler for shipping. On my last visit, clerk asks me- "Find everything OK?" normally I'd respond with "yeah" but this time, "Not really" of course he inquires why... Me: "Whats with all the bulk? I can't even buy one good single-item bubble wrap mailer. I have to spend $15 for a bundle" He responds with, "Yeah, that's retail. Maybe check the post office." My father and I took a trip to office max here in Livermore to shop for an office chair. We arrived at 5:10 pm (closing time is 8 pm) just to be turned away "due to staffing shortages". I understand not being able to assist in store, but not being allowed to shop at all is completely unacceptable especially since we drove over 20 miles just to shop here. I had a horrible phone call with a gentleman today @ 1600. I was trying to purchase the proper toner and drum for my printer. He was extremely short with me and ask if I was done so he could help the other customers because he and another co-worker we're the only people there. First, I thought you guys were closed and we're only doing curbside, second, you don't tell a customer "are you done" and third, you attitude toward me is unprofessional. I came in looking for something specific and I don't mind roaming the aisles but after a while I got discouraged and someone asked me if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and him being some what new said he was going to ask someone just to be sure. I followed him and we approached another young man and before the guy could finish describing what I was looking for the young man started walking and did the douchiest tap-point-knock it off the shelf thing. What an ass! Me and the orginial guy both said No that's not it. So I told him what I was looking for and he didn't think they had it. That second guy was a jerk so I just said don't worry about I will continue looking myself, maybe finding something to subsitute it. Never found what I really wanted but I did modify it and came up with a better idea and bought what I needed here. I do like this place because I love collecting the different color Sharpies in all sizes but the Fine point Sharpies are my fave. They do have great pens and I am always looking for more pens. The staff (minus the jerk) is really helpful asking if you need help. The cashier was friendly also. read more

I'm a geek when it comes to office supplies (hey, childhood thing of perusing Far West Office Supply on what was then still First Street, right around when it became Old First Street), and buying rubber stamps. Ah, stamps. Today, it's warehouse-sized, but easy to find stuff. Would prefer that I could go from door to binder clips to checkout without being accosted by the helpful-by-mandate crew, but can't win 'em all. (Yes, I know I'm a boy and won't ask to find the binder clips, but to some extent, doesn't a meandering customer see and impulse buy more?). read more

I have repeatedly use Office Max's services to change the bindings of paperback books into spirals. The customer service cannot be beat. I never realized how high of a standard of customer service I was experiencing until was I went to Office Max San Ramon to create a brochure for my work. I appreciate that Office Max Livermore runs like clockwork, that when an employee is working with me they do not let someone else interrupt him/her since they are helping me--the client who is paying for the time & service, and that as a whole the team is productive and efficient. I appreciate that their copying/printing machines do not break down and specialists are clearly specially trained or knowledgeable in what their title has labeled them for. I would gladly pay a per min rate for assistance from knowledgeable individuals that make me a priority when they are with me and do not make me wait while they leave and help others and return again multiple times. I appreciate how the sales reps at Office Max Livermore are often seen seeking how they can be helpful to customers/clients rather than set/stuck into zones on the floor and doing nothing/idle. I hope the individuals who have proven to be able to multi-task and show customers that they are the priority are given opportunities to be promoted in the company because they valuable. read more

Just inspired to write an update about the Officemax team! Last year, Clark was incredibly helpful in helping with some furniture purchases, and making sure to assist all the way to the car. I have worked with subsequently on other purchases, and he is always polite, and goes out of his way to provide superior service. I also continue to be an avid fan of the Officemax copy team, Caroline and Timothy. Every copy order comes as requested and is promptly completed. Caroline also graciously helped me with collating and keeping track of specific copies, which needed to be in certain stacks. I always appreciate her joyful demeanor, too! Had a terrible experience with some office furniture I ordered. After waiting for some three weeks for the furniture to arrive I called the manufacturer only to find that the order was never processed although they had received it. When the furniture finally arrived, the assembler discovered that the desk was damaged. The assembly was stopped and had to be rescheduled as replacement parts were ordered. Replacement parts arrived....also damaged !! Somewhere between the manufacturer, the packaging, and the delivery, this furniture was damaged. Not blaming OfficeMax. Drove 40 miles back to OfficeMax to get this problem resolved. Once there the staff immediately contacted the manufacturer who insisted they could only offer a 20% credit for the desk ! I spent nearly one thousand dollars on office pieces in this purchase and all I wanted was credit for the desk, all other furniture items were fine. Now I'm a very reasonable person, but this so-called offer was insulting. Not only did I have to endure weeks of this back and forth nonsense, I would also be stuck with having to go to the dumps to dispose of the damaged furniture myself...and at my expense. I was becoming incensed as I was listening to store employee Anis trying to reason with the manufacturer for a fair resolution and the latter not budging, insisting it was the best they could do. Also there was no way I was going to through another round of deliveries and assembly at the risk of receiving more damaged furniture and wasting more time. In came Fred, who assured me that OfficeMax would make things right despite the unreasonableness of the manufacturer. Again, I don't blame OfficeMax for this problem, and through Fred's (and Anis') total understanding of my plight, OfficeMax credited my account for the purchase of the desk. Fred could sense that my blood pressure was rising during this process but he was the consummate professional in keeping me calm and assured. I kept the desk, which I'll have to doctor up with some wood putty and stain, but I was most pleased with the resolution. This morning I woke up angry that I would have to take time from my day to drive 40 miles to the OfficeMax to deal with this issue, but I left a satisfied customer who will continue to shop with OfficeMax. Complete idiots are staffing the store today, 1/21/2019 at 8:20 PM. First of all the "manager" was acting in a racist manner. There were only three other customers in the store when I was shopping. She asked each of them except me if they needed assistance. She did not say a word to me. The check out cashier is dumb as all get out. She closed the register without providing me with the paper receipt that I indicated on the pad and, when I asked her about it, she called over the racist manager because she did not know how process that. The cashier then decided that she gave me 80 cents change by mistake and that is why she called the manager over to assist? Huh? The manager turns to me and says, "you can keep the 80 cents". I replied, "I was given the correct change--20 cents. And I asked for my printed receipt so I don't know I''m having this ludicrous conversation about change". The cashier looks at me accusingly and says "I gave you 80 cents". I repeated, "you gave me two dimes". She retorted, "I gave you three quarters". Hmm...you are at a cash register but your aptitude in math leaves a lot to be desired! Anyway, the cashier wanted to continue insisting that she gave me 80 cents. So I suppose a customer will lie to keep .80 cents but, even so, an employee is going to loud talk them and argue about it in a check out line. read more
