I gave a second chance to this place yesterday, first I came , one of their baristas with PIXIE hair was cleaning front area next to the window, she cleaned the cups and beans that were displayed by climbing onto a high chair and still wearing shoes! very rude because me and my girlfriend were sitting next to the window at that time !!! and she doesn't care! It was around 3pm last week! And yesterday I went back because my gf really loves their Indonesian snack there! this barista introduces herself to us, named Tara the pixie lady. we ordered latte and cappuccino to her, and this barista was sniffed into one of the cup (black cup) then served it to us !!!!! drink tasted sour and milky! I was request almond milk for the cappuccino and she gave me whole milk cappuccino!!!! the bar is too messy! milks and stuffs eveywhere in the bar! then she is forgot to make a latte for my gf and when I asked her, she just answered "sorry i got distracted" but there wasn't another customer at the cash register! then we sat on a long bench in the hallway, when we were still drinking this barista was cleaning the carpet and throwing it into the air to remove dust when we sat next to it !!!!!!! the way she is explained coffee to us, sounds a bit arrogant and not friendly at all !! she works with other barista that look like asian, this pixie barista was telling her coworker to put the milk and everything back from her messed! HUMAN ERROR!! read more

This may be my favorite coffee spot in the DMV. I never had Indonesian coffee before my visit, but it's GOOD. The space was surprisingly more spacious than I originally thought it'd be and as soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly. The barista was happy to provide suggestions and explain who they were and what makes Indonesian coffee distinct. I love that their coffee is sourced directly from Indonesia, but sad they don't sell any beans to take home. I opted for their Kopi Kedua which is similar to vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, but better in my opinion. It's thicker, but not overbearingly sweet and had a really smooth texture. You can get it iced or hot! I got it iced while I did work, couldn't get enough of it and got a hot Kopi Kedua to go. I will definitely try their drip coffees next time. The interior is well decorated. Modern, simple, and inviting with bold Indonesian touches. They play good music and once you go towards the back to sit or do work, the music isn't too loud - you can talk to other people without feeling like you have to speak over anything and you can work in peace while enjoying the music. Definitely a good place to work out of. I also love all of the handmade ceramic dishes they use and the to go cups that they have. I wish I lived closer so I can come here more often, but I'm already looking forward to the next time I can work from here. Absolutely loved my first experience. read more

I recently discovered Dua, a unique coffee spot in DC that specializes in Indonesian coffee and is proudly owned by women. Their menu features coffee drinks made with single-origin beans from various Indonesian islands. During my visit, I tried their creamy avocado toast, which was a delightful blend of a thick cut bread and avocado with various seasonings, a spread of some sort and topped with cheese. The bread provided such a wonderful mouthfeel as it had a crispy crust, yet the center was soft and moist. The flavors were complex and and well balanced. Although I opted for a takeaway order, I still enjoyed their Wanoja pour-over coffee. The brewing process was meticulous, resulting in a smooth and flavorful cup without any harsh acidity. Overall, I highly recommend Dua for anyone looking to experience Indonesian coffee flavors in DC. Whether you're dining in or grabbing coffee to go, it's a wonderful spot worth checking out. read more

recently tried the Aren Latte at Dua Coffee, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The latte was smooth, rich, and well-balanced, with subtle hints of brown sugar and molasses that added a warm sweetness without being overpowering. The flavor profile was unique and comforting, making it a standout choice for anyone looking to try something beyond a traditional latte. What made the experience even better was the staff. Since it was my first visit, they were informative, patient, and genuinely polite while explaining the menu and helping me decide what to order. Overall, Dua Coffee made a fantastic first impression. Located within walking distance of the White House, DUA sits in a prime spot in downtown DC. The café itself is small with limited seating--just a few tables inside and about four outside. I tried the avocado toast, but unfortunately, it wasn't made with fresh avocado and instead had a packaged taste, which was disappointing. The bagel with cream cheese was decent, nothing standout. On the brighter side, the pour-over African blend coffee was smooth and flavorful--definitely the highlight. While the location is great, everything felt a bit overpriced for what it was.
