    Coffee Holiday Gift Box/Columbia Roast
    Graciela P.

I was able to order a holiday kit from Innerloop Coffee Roasters right before the holidays. So I got my package which included a Homemade Biscotti and a gold coffee spoon which is also a clip. Nice! I decided to get the Columbia Dark Roast as an espresso grind so I can use the Moka Pot to brew this coffee in. Once it was opened it smelled very fresh. You could smell that little hint of vanilla and something else. (The bag says tasting notes of vanilla, sugar cane and caramel) I grabbed a shot glass so we could taste the coffee by itself and it was pretty good. Not a bitter taste, you could taste the hints of a little bit of sweetness behind it not too much and you can actually drink it by itself. But we wanted that little froth to go with it so I hooked it up. Coffee was pretty good. I would definitely order from them again!

Talk about a flavorful and delicious cup of coffee!! I was able to try their single origin Costa Rica blend and I loved that I could taste the notes of brown sugar, chocolate and black currant. My parents are avid coffee drinkers and absolutely loved this blend! Megan and Gregory (owners and coffee roaster wiz's) really put a lot of thought into where the pick where they want their coffee to come from, and it definitely shows. You can either order whole beans or have it grind it to your preference based on how you brew your coffee.

I got the savory pie that was stuffed with an unctuous gumbo filling made with creole spices, the holy trinity (onions, peppers, and celery), and a generous portion of chicken. The pie pastry had a perfect flaky crumb that held the filling together. A friend had their breakfast sandwich, which had a rustic and delightful tang from the inclusion of sourdough in the biscuit batter that paired well with the thick slab of egg and crispy bacon. Incredibly savory items. I'm always gravitated towards how well a cafe can do a savory menu and this exceed my expectations. Friends I came in with who got their coffee said that it was very delicious, and the baristas can make a beautiful frothy and rich matcha latte. Its both parts technical skills to pull coffee or whisk matcha and sourcing of high-quality ingredients. Drinks make up a large part of any cafe, so to do it well here in this neighborhood cafe is exceptional. The baristas are running that place like a tight ship! Tip well!

Their biscuit sandwiches are good for the biscuits, if at the high side of what they should cost when compared to nearby competitors. Their coffee and teas are oddly so so, again it's a really rough coffee market in DC and this place maybe only struggled some because of the interest of the staff or their overall menu, haven't been enough to figure it out. I would likely swing by if I had to, but would avoid most of their drinks and probably focus on something small. They have fun designs for merch.

The storefront itself is cute and there's a fair amount of seating. I will say the parking was kind of weird, It's not a super obvious place and we ended up driving right by it. Parked a couple blocks down and walked over, but otherwise you should be able to find a spot no problem. The baristas were super friendly and patient with us while we looked over the menu. My friend got the (Real!) strawberry match and I got the banana cream matcha. Both were super delicious! The strawberry did taste very fresh and real, and the banana was the perfect sweet treat to satisfy my craving. Overall, I will definitely be back and would recommend to anybody in the area.

I've been looking for a strawberry matcha that has a creamy rich texture, with the perfect ratio of strawberry and matcha. I do appreciate the fact that they use real strawberry puree, but it didn't taste balanced to me. My husband got the mocha forest matcha, it was alright. I wasn't a huge fan of either drinks. I also felt the matcha wasn't ceremonial grade. It had that weird Starbucks fishy taste to it. We ordered breakfast as well- the breakfast indeed tasted homemade but not the kind that wowed me. More like okay wonder bread and some protein. Nothing that stood out or tasted unique. I left wishing I had spent the money elsewhere. Overall, I don't live close to this location so I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if invited I wouldn't be opposed. It's a tiny spot with few seats and a shared small parking lot. It's better for to go orders. Casual ambiance.

The barista talked to every single customer like they were an old friend -- including me -- and that kind of warmth made the whole experience so personal and welcoming. It was a little tricky to find at first since it's tucked inside a convenience-store-style space and the sign is pretty small (granted, I didn't have my glasses on, so we'll let that one slide). But once you find it, you'll see it's worth the hunt. I ordered the 12 oz Nutella latte, and wow -- it was so smooth. You still get that nice coffee flavor, but the Nutella adds this rich, nutty, almost creamy texture that makes the whole drink feel luxurious. It's the kind of latte that just goes down easy. Even with a line of customers, my drink came out in about two to five minutes. The craziest part? He wasn't using a ticket system -- just his memory -- and still managed to keep everything running efficiently. You can tell he cares about what he's doing. Overall, Loud and Roasters is such a gem. Between the friendly service, cozy community feel, and the smooth, delicious drinks, this place definitely has me coming back to try more flavors.

My favorite thing though? Their fun monthly coffee samplers. It's such a creative idea and keeps things interesting. They rotate flavors that match the season, so there's always something new to try. I always get things iced and add the whip, so much better than hot coffee! Honestly though, the coffee will depend on the barista because it seemed to have a new person each month and it tasted so different even when I went back twice to get the same sampler. Thats my only reason for a 4 star. If you love switching up your coffee shops and discovering new favorites, the monthly sampler alone is worth the visit.

Tucked away on Main Street, the industrial-chic space with soaring ceilings, warm wood accents, and plenty of seating strikes the perfect balance between cozy and cool. Whether you're catching up with a friend, getting some work done, or just treating yourself, the atmosphere just works. The coffee is absolutely top-notch. You can tell this isn't an afterthought -- Foundation roasts their beans in-house, and the quality shines through in every cup. The espresso is rich and perfectly pulled, and their lattes are smooth without being overly sweet. Watching the roasting operation through the big window is a cool bonus touch that reminds you just how seriously they take their craft. The pastries are no slouch either -- the croissants and crumb cake are among the best I've had at any coffee shop in Northern Virginia. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. If you're into coffee, ask them about the beans -- they love talking about it. Fair warning: navigation apps can be tricky, so look for the loading dock entrance near Home Goods. It's worth the extra minute to find it. Foundation Coffee is a must-visit in Fairfax city!!

I ordered an Oat Latte, Dark Star (espresso, oat milk, dark chocolate & Azteca), and included one matcha drink, My Little Green Friend (matcha, oat milk, white chocolate & vanilla). They all tasted so good. Creamy, sweet, but not too sweet. And they came in three little mugs, with aesthetic latte art. I got so full (lol), but it was the best decision of the day!
