I definitely enjoyed Dua Coffee! It is located right on McPherson Square and on beautiful, sunny days it's a great spot to sit out with coffee or tea and enjoy. I got an iced Brown Latte, iced Hibiscus Tea, and Pishok. The Brown Latte was pretty standard and on the sweeter side. The Pishok was a cute size and tasted great! I always love a banana/chocolate the Hibiscus tea surprised me with its cinnamon. I never thought black tea, hibiscus, and cinnamon would pair so well together! It wasn't over sweetened, not fulled to the brim with ice, and the flavors were delicious. Finally, the staff was very attentive and had radiant energy! A great coffee shop in the Farragut neighborhood of DC! I'd never had Indonesian coffee before so wasn't sure what I'd think -- it's excellent! They carry all the standards. You can still come here for your mochas and Americanos but they also have uniquely delicious, Indonesian treats like the "kopadua" and the "brown latte." They are also always willing to answer questions and explain options. If Yelp allowed half-starring I'd reduce this to 4.5 stars ONLY because there are no gluten free food options ... Overall a great iced latte. When you arrive, if you're not local like me, there was a line. However, don't let that deter you. They are quick and you will receive your order in a reasonable time. When you go inside, it's a small area to begin with but make your way back to find more seating. A great, friendly place to grab a pick me up when you're in the area. Relatively new coffee shop that opened during COVID (unfortunately) and has recently re-opened. I ordered the cookies & cream and during the transaction, the person ringing me up mentioned that it did not have any caffeine. I am extremely glad he mentioned this because I would not have been happy if I had gotten this without any caffeine. So he asked if I wanted a single or double shot espresso, which is just a small up charge. Little things, such as mentioning what is not in your product can go a long way in service. I also substituted to oat milk, so yes they have oat milk! I definitely recommend cookies & cream with double espresso! So delicious with a hint of childhood. Had a great experience at Dua coffee! Went in on a weekday morning for the first time to get some work done. Barista was patient as I decided what I wanted. I picked a pour-over (can't remember the name) but it was one of the best pour overs I've ever had. Solid ambience. We were greeted warmly by the staff who helped my friend select coffee (which they also can grind for you). I ordered the mango matcha which while pricier than I normally would go was absolutely delicious with house made matcha and pieces of mango. I'm excited to try a regular matcha! The Space/Service: I really like how minimal and airy this space is. There is individual bar seating up by the window in the front. In the back of the coffee shop you will find a cozy corner with a couch and a line of tables. The back of the coffee shop does lack natural sunlight, but overall is a quiet space to tuck away and do work. The vibe is pretty chill and never over crowded or loud. Every employee that I have encountered is really nice and will talk about where the coffee is sourced. It is definitely one of my new favorite coffee shops! The Food/Drinks: My go-to here is the Kopi Kedua, which is a lighter version of a Vietnamese iced coffee. I feel like Indonesian coffee is a lighter roast and has more of a fruity acidic taste compared to other coffees in that region. I've had the iced coffee here and if you want to get experimental, the Klavee is a refreshing drink with lemon and coconut water. I've also had the banana chocolate eggroll ($3) which was pretty tasty. Highly recommend this coffee shop if you want something a little different from your usual starbucks! read more

My friend and I tried to get another well-known DC-brand of coffee but most of their locations were closed on the weekend!! We ended up yelping the best coffee in the area and this came up in the top two. We decided to try it out and it was AMAZING. She got a normal espresso shot and I got a traditional Indonesian drink (Kopi Kedua) that has condensed milk mixed with the coffee and it balanced it out VERY well. This is a small-business, and the first Indonesian coffee shop in the District! What an amazing hidden gem and I will definitely come back when I'm in the area read more

I'm not even a coffee drinker and I loved the experience at this shop! It's also vegan friendly (offers non-dairy milks). I walked into Dua Coffee having to use the restroom and the owner was so nice in how he explained where to find it. There have been times that I've had to use the restroom before purchasing anything at a coffee shop and I get the side eye --but not here (thumbs up). Anyway, I came back to the counter to order loose leaf tea but to my surprise, they only had black tea in a tea bag which I didn't care. The owner explained that they just recently opened and that the tea hadn't been shipped in yet. So, I'm there trying to figure out what to get and I end up asking about the coffee. He starts explaining to me all about Indonesian coffee and what makes it so unique, one reason being that it's lightly roasted so as to preserve the bold flavor of the coffee. He also explained that the coffee beans are shipped in directly from Jakarta where they grow it themselves. (either they grow it themselves or it's locally sourced). After learning all of that and more, I was ready to make an exception on my no-coffee diet to try Indonesian coffee. Out of the blue, he said hold on one second, I'll get you something you might enjoy...a couple minutes later he presented a beautiful cup of coffee with oat milk on the side for me to try. He said if I like it, I can order more. Needless to say, it was one of the top 2 best cups of coffee I've ever had in my life....no sweetener or sugar needed. The flavors are just amazing. I enjoyed working in the space as well. The energy was positive, and not noand the seating area was really comfortable. Can't wait to visit again. read more

The owner replied to my comment on Google saying "All all of our napkins are placed in a tall napkin dispenser located on condiment table". So I want this owner to do this experiment himself --- You found a seat in front window seat in a very busy and crowded afternoon with 10 plus people blocking the pathway waiting to order stuff. You bought coffee and a sticky chocolate brownie kind stuff and you need a napkin since you are not a person eating with hands.. So to get that 'precious' napkin, you need to say 3 times of excuse me to squeeze yourself to walk through the 10 people waiting crowd and walk through the long path to get it from that table and repeat the same thing back to your window seat. As a owner you should know the unique shape of your shop including the separation of window seats and back seats, as well as the long path connecting them. If your condiment table and all the seats are allocated close together then you are right. But that's not the case for your shop, and your waiting line and group also completely block the path for window seats customers to move. As a owner you should see and think such common things with common sense. While you told me what you said, why didn't you think what you can do better ? Why don't you just put some napkins in the window seats area ? You should go to other cafes and see how they handle it, rather than just tell me "this is how we do it." read more

My one disappointment was that the Kopi Kedua was mostly ice and tasted watered down. I saw one reviewer say that it's a lighter version of a Vietnamese iced coffee so maybe that's how it's supposed to be. I think I would like it much better if I had it in the summer. We also ordered banana and nut butter toast, which was pretty good but it did take a while to come out. Overall, it's a nice coffee shop and I would stop by again if I were in the area. read more
