This has to be the best hazelnut iced latte I've ever tasted. Rich and flavorful. They don't have much of a selection on drinks and food, just the basics but it's almost better that way. The empanadas are good and I didn't try their toast with spreads but they looked really good! If you are in town I would highly recommend. read more

One of the greatest lattes I've had! The iced brown latte was prepared in the best way - golden creme pull, poured over milk, finished with a coconut palm sugar syrup and ice. The taste was so unique - the coffee stands out even with milk, resulting in a slightly nutty, earthy, and bold yet smooth sip that ends with a lingering note of cocoa. Stopped into this Indonesian coffee place right by the McPherson Square metro. Lovely customer service employees who provided great explanations on the drink and food options (GF, non-dairy options etc.). This owner and his mom & pop cafe is a wonderful oasis amongst all the unimpressive coffee/cafe chains in downtown DC. Ordered the speciality Kopi Kedua ($4.25) - which is a Indonesian coffee latte that is sweetened with condensed milk (reduced the amount and it came out perfect). Had mine with oat milk ($0.50) - total came out to $4.75 without tax/tip. They also have GF pastries, sweet and savory open toasts, and empanadas in addition to their coffee and tea options! There is a few tables and chairs in inside the cafe but outdoor tables are available as well. Whenever I'm in this area and need a respite or caffeine fix, will be come by and support this lovely place. read more

I was really excited to get an Indonesian coffee shop in the DMV! The vibe reminds me of back home. Service was great - workers're knowledgeable, patient, nice and extremely helpful. Klavee ($4) - Coconut Water, Espresso, Lemon. It's different, that's for sure lol. I love coconut water and coffee separately, but still haven't made my mind up about this combination. Dua... do NOT! Coffee is mediocre at best. When asked if they use Oatly for their oat milk product, they said they use a "local" brand. ( Sold at Aldi's!!). Good luck with that! No -foaming, cheapest oat milk available. My cappuccino was very gas stationish. Do not recommend this shop! read more

Such a cute cafe! I work right by here so it was perfect to drop by in the morning for a coffee pick me up, or have a coffee chat with friends midday. I always appreciate the staff, who greet with wonderful smiles and are super friendly. Really pretty set up, calming and it's clear a lot of effort has been put into designing the place. I've tried the kopi kedua which is really great coffee (hot or cold) and a latte. There's an area with seating, and if you sit in the cafe, they serve your order to your table. This is a go-to study spot for me when I'm looking for good lighting, good service, and most definitely a good latte. I always find myself at Dua whenever I have some light studying to do. It is also a great place to chat with friends. Seating can be a bit cramped and the wifi can be a bit slow, but the friendly customer service, coffee, and aesthetic definitely make up for it. The close proximity to the McPherson Metro stop is also a plus! I highly recommend the Brown Latte, Peach Iced Tea, and Kopi Kedua! read more

I went here on a weekend to try their cappuccino. I am on a mission to find my favorite places to get cappuccino. Finding it wasn't hard and the place looks very nice. Even though it is small but it is decorated nicely. The music is very good and all the people working there are very friendly. I went here with my girlfriend and we both ordered cappuccino. The cappuccinos come in this beautiful unique mugs which I always appreciate. In my opinion if you are a coffee place you need to have something especial and definitely not serve coffee only in paper cups. That is just a no no for me. This place takes that seriously and I think they serve their lattes in different mugs which are also nice and beautiful. We really enjoyed the aesthetics of this place. For the espresso however I think it wasn't as good as I expected, but it was decent. However I would say this is something that I have to come again to try. In general I recommend this place for getting a coffee and enjoying a light music if you are in the area. It is also nice if you want to do some working. read more

Stopped by for a quick iced coffee on a Saturday afternoon. Quick service with a really chill and laid back vibe. People can hang out and chat or work on their laptops in the many shared tables and chairs here. Can't get any better than this! Never in DC has there been an Indonesian coffee shop. There has been Indonesian restaurants here and there but a coffee shop is quite unique, as Indonesia is known for their coffee and blessing DC with this Indonesian-based coffee shop is truly a gift for this area. I would highly recommend their Kopi Kedua (if you're a condensed milk fan), their latte is better than the one around the corner (Starbucks), and their drip coffee (coffee beans from Kintamani, Bali) is my absolute fave! The fruity-ness of it sold me. If you want something refreshing, I suggest ordering the Klavee. It's a mix of a single shot espresso and coconut water. If you want something without coffee, their cookies and cream drink was a nice alternative! It's so perfect that Dua Coffee is right next to my office and walking distance from McPherson Square and Farragut North station. Their ambiance as a whole was on point and of course, their staff was super friendly. They will greet you as soon as you walk in the door... with their awesome batik aprons to start your coffee journey at Dua Coffee on a good note! Their first location is located is in Jakarta and I can't wait to visit it when I visit Indonesia again. There are so many coffee shops in DC now that it's difficult to differentiate from the crowd. Little things become important: seating space, WiFi, proximity to central areas. Dua is cute and welcoming when you walk in, with nice decor and a lot of light. There are tables in the back to sit and a cozy couch corner. Baristas are nice. That being said, my cappuccino was normal -- nothing memorable. The pain au chocolat was also normal. It would be nice if they had more diverse pastry options -- I'll try the fried egg roll one next time. In short, cute place, but the pickings are normal -- nothing to rave about. I'm embarassed to say that Im Indonesian but not into coffee. But honestly, been here twice and it has converted me into loving their coffee. I had the signature drinks Klavee (espresso with coconut water & lemon) and Kopi Kedua (with condensed milk) and they were so good. They have snacks too like pischoc (banana & chocolate roll) it tastes better than what I had back in Indo. Oh and i love how they use mugs and glass for 'dine-in' coffee, instead of plastics like in other places. If you want your coffee to-go, i heard you get 10% discount if you bring your own tumbler. This was my go-to spot for java when I was staying in D.C. As all of my other reviews for coffee go "I like smooth, less bold espresso", etc. etc. The same goes but I'll say that Dua pulls of an espresso that is a little bolder than my palate usually appreciates, but they pull it off well, and the do bold without the bitterness that I dislike about most espresso in the U.S. The staff are super super friendly and I am sad that I have left and will no longer get to enjoy their coffee. You have a lot of choices for coffee whilst in D.C. but these guys are top notch and always serve you with a smile and a genuine thank you. LOVE YOU GUYS! read more

A cute boutique coffee shop in DC where they serve Southeast Asian coffee (Indonesian). The owners of this mom and pop work at the store and are excellent at recommending drinks most suited for our tastes. I think it's great when shops offer single origin pour-overs. This is a new coffeeshop downtown, a classy Indonesian outfit catering for the discerning K Street crowd, which is a mix of business meetings (the majority) and solo types working on their laptop. The hibiscus tea I ordered was made with a lot of care and attention, and indeed tasted "just so"! It and the interesting croissant-muffin hybrid ("cruffin") were served in simple-elegance dishware. They have free wifi, and interesting elongated tables. The decor is in line with the Indonesian theme. The music is kool Steely-Dan-like, and not annoying workout pop as in some other coffeeshops. A perfect coffee break in the middle of the morning. I have gone a few times at different times in the morning and the line always moves quickly regardless. They give you the option to eat/drink in the store with mugs or to take your drinks to go.
