It is clear why this coffee shop has such a high rating. I asked the barista for a recommendation and she recommended I try the the Home run latte which is orange cinnamon flavor. Originally I wasn't going to pick that one out but I decided to try it and I'm so glad I did, it was 10/10, so good! The orange really adds a unique but amazing flavor! I also got the Bagle and dream cheese which is a Bagle with honey walnut cream cheese with orange zest. I was a little skeptical at first but wow I have never had cream cheese like that before it was amazing! Others in my group got the Wake & Bacon which they said was also great which had a a house made Chipotle sauce that wasn't spicy but had a nice zest to it. The virtu bowl was a prepackaged pistachio, chia seed yogurt bowl which has 25g of protein and was very yummy, light, and fluffy. We also tried the dream latte which was great too. Walked in on the owner giving a little pep talk to his staff which I can appreciate the support an owner gives to staff. The owner was very friendly and gave us a whole introduction of his menu and what goes into this local coffee shop. They roast their coffee beans just in Mission Valley and make a dang good strawberry matcha, even if it wasn't on the menu. For multiple reasons, I walked away entirely from Big Coffee at the beginning of the year, and while I'm not one of those "If I don't have my coffee right now, I'll have a meltdown! Wah!" people, I have been looking for a place to wind down, read a book, and enjoy a peppermint mocha. Dreamwave is so much more than that. Have to say, thanks for the free coffee to try it. Unfortunately it was not very good. Overheated and no coffee flavor whatsoever. For me cappuccinos/coffee need to be at the correct temp, otherwise they lose all flavor and become very watery. It was no good. But it sure gave me jitters. That said I decided to try my wifes coffee which was also a cappuccino. Just not overheated as much. More appropriate temp. Still no flavor at all. Very blah coffee. Very thin, no depth to it at all. Nothing. I appreciate the attempt here, cute place and they have stay-in mugs instead of all paper cups/plastic tops to throw out. While sitting there waiting for my coffee, I just believe this to be a place that focuses on the foofy flavored iced coffees. But for me I am a traditionalist and if you have bad coffee it really shows it's head in a cappuccino, or espresso. I am sorry, this place is not for me. The coffee was flavorless and watery. would love to preface this review that i have been working in the speciality coffee industry and hospitality industry for the last ten years. i hold a lot of space for shops all along the wide range of quality and the coffee grading scale. however our visit here this morning was a pretty huge let down. we came in and met with a wafting smell of burnt food and a turbo chef that either needs a deep clean or lacks ventilation. one of the best parts of a coffee shop is the incredible natural aroma of coffee, but this was a very unpleasant welcoming. the barista at pos was friendly but it took us a few minutes to order due to him making food for other orders. we ordered a range of items to really get a good impression of the shop; a shot of espresso, a pour over, and a sweet iced latte. we ordered all items for here and our iced lattes came out very quickly and i was surprised it wasn't served with the espresso but didn't think much of it. i saw them making our pour over when i picked up the latte. 15 minutes goes by and we don't have our pour over, we checked in after another 5 and they had to completely restart our pour over and that took another 15 minutes to come out, and then it was served to go and we still didn't have our espresso. we stayed for a total of 55 minutes after ordering and never received our espresso. on our way out i waited in line to ask for a refund on the spro, after the person on pos said out loud that we did not get it a voice on espresso says "it's literally down here. it's been sitting on the bar" my partner and i looked at each other and then the person on pos and said "no worries we don't want it anymore" and we left. when a guest has to remind you of two beverages you should absolutely at the very least make sure they hear you when you call our the remake but truly, you should be running it out to them. couldn't tell you much about their espresso considering we didn't get to try it, but the drip coffee was over extracted and not good. the latter just tasted like low quality cinnamon and zero honey. overall, the cafe felt super run down and not a place i would ever want to hangout at. read more

This is the best cafe in the whole universe, and that's an understatement. I enjoy their selection of beans and variety of different flavors. Love the coffee! Hide tide with their house made coconut vanilla is my favorite! My boyfriend loves their El Santo which is the horchata one. They have delicious pastries from various bakeries. Service is always great. But the real reason for this review is for the sweetest employee there. We bring our dogs every Sunday, and around 12-12:30 there is a female employee who works the afternoon shift, and she always brings our dogs a treat and always stops by outside to say hello to them! She's so nice to them and helps them work on their confidence & social behavior. I don't know her name (black hair and has tattoos) but if she sees this review she will know who she is!
