Citrus Chamomile tea was $2.50 here. That price is right. Service is attentive. This place reminds me of one that you would see off the beaten path in Brooklyn. The crowd is young and hispter. I am glad to know about this location. I met here for District Running Collective's Wednesday run and it was great. The upstairs area was able to house the bags/gear of 30+ people comfortably, while two guys played an all out game of ping pong. I love this place - great ambiance, (usually) very friendly staff, sparkling water on tap, and amazing coffee (I am prone to their almond latte, which uses Pacific almond milk and is great). I will say that the breakfast items that I once tried were just average (quiche and a breakfast scone), mostly because they weren't evenly reheated due to the use of a toaster oven... I'm not sure I'd order them again with other options closer by, but the scone would definitely be welcomed back in a pinch! Also, the patio area is amazing, there are lots of outlets and free wifi for people looking to work (usually the majority of the indoor clientele), the ping pong room is fun and well thought out (a.k.a. thank you, plexiglass along the stairwell railing, for keeping the ball upstairs during our amateur attempts at play), and the after-hours menu is intriguing enough that one of these days, I'll be lured away from Looking Glass and head down GA to check it out, which is a pretty big compliment. read more

Ping Pong: Definitely sets it apart from other bars in the area...though I'm worried that the ping pong ball will frequently go down the stairs... Compared to all the other places in the area that you can study at, this is by far the best. Believe me, I've tried them all. And best of all, it's a quick walk from my house! read more

There is something really freshening about waking up early and strolling down to the local coffee shop. I actually live in Burke so it was a bit of a hike but is there a better way to start the weekend than with an adventure? Colony Club is super hip and welcoming. I felt really cool just by being in there! The barista (these aren't your normal coffee slingers; they really know their stuff!) was tall with a hat and glasses and he was really nice. They also have bagel sandwiches on the weekends. Bagels were strictly forbidden in my house growing up so I love to indulge whenever I get the chance. I had the salmon one which was delicious but some of it got stuck in my teeth. After ordering I went out to the back patio so that Tom wouldn't see me when he came in. Then I waited. Colony Club seems like a really good place to get work down because a lot of people were on computers. Also it's a wonderful place to catch up with friends and I eavesdropped on a bunch of conversations to learn what was cool nowadays. After about two hours Tom came in and I was able to confront him for getting me fired. First he took my wife and then cost me my job! I mean, obviously I was upset about the separation so I was going to say or do some things. I just think the stress should have been taking into consideration. What is malicious harassment anyway? Tom wasn't very happy to see me when I charged at him in the open space of the store. He told me to stop calling his house and threatening him or he'd call the police. Someone else said they are calling the police after I took a swing, which is fair, but it wasn't like a made contact. He's pretty quick, like a critter. Really, my only criticism of the Colony Club is that it's Tom's favorite coffee shop, but I can't really hold that against them after such great coffee and service with a smile! read more

This place is a welcome addition to park view! It's a much needed spot to grab a nice cup of coffee and chill out or do some work. Funky furniture and nice lighting make for an inviting atmosphere. Staff are relaxed and friendly. The place uses ceremony coffee and has pastries from bake house- both are solid local brands. I only went in for coffee, but I look forward to going over in the evening for some ping pong! read more

A great coffee spot that turns into a bar at 5 pm. It's really nice looking inside with lots of seats, couches and high-tops. I've been a bunch of times to hang out, work or goof on my laptop, and enjoy some tasty coffee drinks. It's not big so it can be crowded during the day, but there's a nice back space too. They also have cookies and pastries that are quite tasty. When it's less busy I like sitting on the couch and reading the interesting coffee table books about things like 1970s soccer, architecture and music. Upstairs there's a big ping pong table, which is fun, and they have a good beer selection for bar time -- but you can't get alcohol at all before 5. The only drawback is the tinned fish -- they have fancy European fish in tins, which is a good idea, but it's pretty pricey. read more

Colony Club is fantastic. They once were late by a negligible amount and gave me a free drink voucher - the service is amazing. They have great events, the bar has a good selection of drinks and is a great pre-game spots, the patio parties are fun, they have good live music, the pop-up are cool, they try a lot of things. I came here for an event and it was nice enough but MAN, somebody should really sit down with the owners and have a chat about the name! I've steered clear of it until recently, and only ventured inside because my friend was hosting a benefit show there. A hipster place, on Georgia Avenue, called Colony Club, sends a whole lot of messages they may not want to be sending. Maybe they think it's ironic. Maybe they'll wake up and change the name to SOMETHING, ANYTHING less cringeworthy. For now I'm not an ironic hipster so I'll just go to Harrar instead when I want coffee. read more

This narrow but deep coffee shop became my favorite place to get some work done. I can't speak to the coffee, but the tea and hot chocolate are delicious! There's just the right amount of background noise and there is a sunny back patio for when the weather is nice. The pastries look delicious but I wish they had a gluten free option. Personally, coffee is coffee. I don't go to coffee shops to fully enjoy the taste of coffee like I do with food. I go for the customer service and ambiance to enjoy a good book. Solid coffee spot. My boyfriend and I came here to get some work done and found it to a great place to be productive. It's a small space, but it's not too loud, the wi-fi is decent, and there is plenty of seating. The almond lattes we ordered were delicious and the service was excellent. I came to this nice quaint coffee/bar as a result of an event that was happening in the upstairs game/meeting room. The ambiance is very chilled. I chose to have a drink from the bar rather than coffee. My drink was well made and the bartenders/baristas were very nice and cordial. If I stayed in this neighborhood I could see myself visiting more, especially if I wanted a drink without the typical bar crowd. read more

Come for a quick breakfast on a weekend morning. Breakfast sandwich was eggs, chives, and cheese on a toasted biscuit. It was warm, yummy, and filling. I also ordered an iced tea, which appeared to be individually steeped and then cooled over ice. Tasted fine, though I thought it could have been a little larger. Overall I felt it was a little pricey, but this could just be the norm for D.C. The space itself was bright. Seats were almost completely filled by people on laptops (taking advantage of free wifi). this is really my favorite vibe coffee shop. why? because this is probably the closest to the perfect cup o joe ever. it's at the perfect temperature and it's sooo smooth. it's probably the same temp as the cafe. you could drink a mouthful and feel all its wonderfulness just melt away your worries into a yummy latte. also ... i LOVE the space. it's so CLEAN and bright!! Amazing hot chocolate, not too sweet and nice and rich and I love how they put a heart swirl design in the cream on the top - great attention to detail, as with the design, decor, and chill funky music (in the morning at least).
