    Side of rice

Went here on a Wednesday around lunch. It wasn't super busy but there was a steady flow of customers. The guy at the counter was nice and greeted me with a smile. They had a sign up notifying customers that the wait at the time was around 25 minutes. That seemed to be accurate. There was one cook and the food appeared to be made fresh. I got a crispy chicken taco, a carne asada taco, a chorizo and egg taco, and a side of rice. All of the tacos and rice were good. My only critiques are the chorizo taco was really greasy, it seeped through the tortilla even with a layer of beans on the tortilla and the tortillas seemed like they needed another minute or so to cook. The flavor of the food was good and it came out hot. The salsa they give with the tacos is decent. Pricing is decent. The restaurant was clean.

This is my favorite close-to-home taco joint. It's a tiny place, but there's always a table when I pop in in-person. I see them dispatching a ton of to-go orders when I'm there, so I know they're staying busy, but I get the impression they're still being slept on. I'd like to call out a few highlights. Corn tortillas: we all know the tortilla is the keystone of a good taco, and their tortillas are my most favorite. They're soft, but sturdy enough to hold the generous amount of meat they give you. Flavor is out of this world. I could eat them every day. Carne asada: always on point. I don't think it's the very best in the valley, but any means, but it's consistently well seasoned and flavorful. Pastor: my personal fave. My stomach cannot support the number of pastor tacos I want to order every time I go there. Their frijoles and arroz are great, too. If you're looking for a new Mexican place in South Phoenix, this is the one.

This place is FIRE. Customer service was good and very professional. We got our food pretty fast. My husband got the chimichanga plate and that thing was the size of my leg. I got the quesabirria tacos, so far it was the best I ever had. 10/10

Yummy! Ordered the machaca burrito, green chili burrito and carne asada burrito. All of the burritos were very good and overly stuffed. I appreciated the homemade tortilla and the green sauce was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of gristle in the carne asada burrito. The staff were very friendly and the inside is well kept. I really love mom and pop shops. Especially the ones that truly care.

Ngl Coming from Cali but also a foodie that travels just for food I was a little nervous about this place. Haven't found much good food in Arizona yet however, I stumbled across this place. It was empty when we got here but I seen a big sign that said pozole! I also went ahead and tried the carne asada taco... NO BUENO. I tried the Pastor taco, it was OK! But let me tell you about the pozole... it was FIRE!!! This bowl saved them for me. I will be back just for a bowl of this for sure. Everything else I would go back to the drawing board.. anyway back to the pozole. Packed with flavor!!! Lots of meat, a great level of spice and not to mention all the meat was "TENDERNISM" if they can stay consistent with that, they have themselves a winner.

First time at Don Taco. It was a little place tucked behind Big-O tires. The inside was small with seven tables for four but they also had a steady stream of take-out orders as well. There was no music playing and a small TV in the corner, so it wasn't designed for aesthetics. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and there were five other parties. For a tiny spot, it was very popular. My wife ordered the Combo Hard Shell Tacos while I got the Chilaquiles with Beef. We added an order of Chips and Salsa. It all totaled $33.45. We were hoping to get the chips and salsa promptly but the emotionless cashier said: "I'll bring everything out to you." Sure enough, our entire order arrived in about 12 mins. The portions at Don Taco were no joke. Plenty of protein in their dishes. The flavors were okay but not the authentic flavors that other reviewers mentioned. The chips were actually the best part. No ambiance, mediocre service and so-so food: I'll stick with Fili-B's.

    Pozole

Pozole is amazing, highly recommended. Super flavorful and came with the perfect sides. Great serving size too. Gotta try their other food, must be amazing too.

    Quesabirria, pastor and asada tacos

Street tacos are so good! All 3 of the ones I got were delicious. The chips are also great. Service was incredible and they were quick too. Highly recommend!

Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. That's the kind of meal that makes you sit in your car afterward thinking about your life choices in a positive way. Enjoy. And maybe stretch beforehand because you're going to want to fight someone over the last hongos fry.

The place was packed people finished quickly so getting a table wasn't hard. They also had someone cleaning up tables quickly. I got a carne asada caramelito and a carne asada taco. The caramelito continues to be my favorite of the two. Love the roasted salsa on the salsa bar though the hot red one is really good too! I do wish their guac salsa had more tang and salt. I find it bland. These are among my fave tacos but not my absolute so thus the 4 stars.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.
