carne asada burrito, carne asada vampiros, queso taco Adobada

The restaurant is clean, with plenty of seating options, and the bar area is nice. You order at the counter, pick your seat, and they call your name when your food's ready. We went on a Thursday night and there was a pretty long line, but we actually got our food fairly quickly, which I appreciated. The salsa bar had lots of options and it's self serve. Everything looked clean and fresh. I'm a big condiments girlie, so I loved having the variety but none of the salsas really had a kick. I was hoping for something with some real heat, and they just didn't bring it. Now, the part that fell short for me was the food quality. The queso taco and burrito were drenched in oil, so much that you could literally see it shimmering from across the room. And why did the adobada look like it was made with Hot Cheeto coloring? It looked unnatural, and you'd think that bold color would at least mean bold flavor... but it didn't. The carne asada vampiros were good, but nothing to write home about. My friend did enjoy her burrito, though. The aguas frescas were delicious! Overall, it's not a spot I'd go out of my way for, and for me, it definitely didn't live up to the hype.

We finally checked out Tacos Los Vales after seeing the yummy food posts on their social media... and wow, so good! The place smells amazing as soon as you walk in, the vibe is fun with music playing, and everything is super clean. The menu is displayed on big TV screens, with each item listed in Spanish and an English description below.... really helpful if you don't speak Spanish. The staff were super friendly, and the self-serve condiment bar is a great touch with fresh toppings like salsas, guac, and pickled onions. I had the Vampiro tacos and my husband got the burrito. We both loved our meals, though next time I might go for regular tacos instead.... the cheese made it a little too greasy for me. He preferred the carne asada, while I was all about the birria. Portions are generous, so you won't leave hungry. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Really great chicharon and carne asada tacos. Horchata is also good. It was closed for renovations last time I came. Hope they open back up soon.

Don't think. Just go here! If you want great tacos, burritos or quesadillas this place is a hidden gem. We walked in and we were instantly greeted with smiles- they were so happy we were there! I mean, really? There wasn't a line when we ordered, but once we sat down there was a flock of people and then the line was almost going out the door. We got carne asada tacos and a carne asada quesadilla, Mexican coke and Horchata. All delish! This place is super modern and clean inside & they were blasting the music when we got there. The vibe was fun. Salsa bar had tons of options and everything was super fresh. And my fave- the limes were juicy, not dry! The area is not the best for this location, but honestly it's beautiful inside. Even a little abuelita outside selling little things like I was at a Mexican market. We were impressed and will be back for sure! This place felt like home. Bathroom- I failed and didn't even go in, but I'm pretty sure they would have a changing table for the babies, I saw a lot of little ninos inside the place.

    The best tacos ever

Clean restaurant; service was fast, and everyone was very friendly. We sat at the bar, and the bartender Lalo was funny and nice. Our food was very delicious; overall, it was a great first time.

This place is fire. Working out of town and wanted to get some good Mexican food. Instead of good I got amazing. Super friendly service, fast, and most importantly delicious. As a SoCal native I can say you'd be hard pressed to find anything this good in the greater LA area. Absolutely on the top of my list.

I was suggested to go to this place during my stay in phoenix and it was the best suggestion I received during my stay; Great atmosphere, the lady at the cashier and the guy that served the food are friendly and fun, they welcomed me warmly; I got a burrito and it was the best I ever had; Highly recommended!!!

Food was deliciousious and the service was great. We had the tacos asada, lengua and quesabirria. We stopped by on our way to Mesa AZ. Fresh guac and salsas

I have to say as an Arizona native that KNOWS tacos.. this place is fantastic. Tacos were very good similar to those food truck flavors from Mexico. Super friendly staff Everyone welcomes you, restaurant is clean, just really impressed. Sometimes you can find amazing tacos but the service is poor or the restaurant isn't clean but this really checks boxes. Going in my list of top tacos

This place is unassuming, you order from the counter then find a seat and they will call your number. The nachos were so good I could have ordered the large even though the small was so big. The birria burrito was really good. Cheese quesadillas was yummy and with the salsas it added more to it.

When I got married we had Tscos Huicho come at the end of our reception and served up street tacos to all of our inebriated friends and family. It was a hit! Literally nobody remembers the formal dinner meal we ate, but everyone remembers DEM TACOS! I'm not sure if they still do catering, but if they do, it is a fun crowd pleaser and affordable. The location is weird, like in a neighborhood. Just keep driving--you'll see it, but the first time I went there I thought I was lost and finally spotted it! They've remodeled and expanded the eating area which is great because before it was so busy and you felt crammed, but don't go expecting some high end taco shop. I felt like the fanciest person there when I went since I went on my lunch break in business casual. Honestly I don't care as long as the tacos keep coming out bomb.

While the line can be long, don't let it fool you because the service is quick and efficient! The restaurant is also adding a drive thru line, so that should help disperse the line inside of the restaurant. Even with how busy the restaurants can get, I've never had an issue finding a place to sit and eat. They make each item to order in front of you, you get to choose which toppings you want to add. I always order my items "con todo" with onion, cilantro, guacamole/crema, and salsa. This trip I ordered 3 especiales: caramelo (steak), gringa (pork), and gabacho (chicken). Unfortunately, they ran out of chicken, so I subbed for an extra gringa, my favorite of the 3. I also got an order of chips and queso, but be careful because the queso is addicting! They also have a help yourself salsa bar, but the salsas tend to be watery and not very flavorful. The orange one is my favorite, adds a good kick to the food. The pricing is reasonable, especially for the quality of food you get, even when I tend to over order. Overall, I will continue coming to Taco Viva any time I'm in the mood for some yummy tacos!

I ordered two carne asada tacos, two el pastor tacos, and one vampiro. I started with the al pastor tacos. They were pretty tasty--the meat was tender (not dry), and the sauce on top had a lot of good flavor. Then I moved on to the carne asada tacos. The very first bite was extremely salty. I managed to get through one and a half before I had to stop; I just couldn't handle the saltiness anymore. I thought it was only the carne asada, but when I tried a bite of the el pastor vampiro, I realized that was just as salty. I didn't even make it halfway through before I had to stop eating altogether. The saltiness was so intense it started making me feel sick. My husband tried my food and completely agreed--it was overly salty. I usually like to give places a second chance, but I don't think I will with this one. Maybe someday, but not anytime soon.

Usually I'm camped outside with a few cocktails and I stagger my order. Just to be clear, my favorite item here is the Carne Asada Sope!!! Service was great as they gave the family recommendations. Teenagers went for the (classic Azteca & burrito Mio) burritos and birria tacos. The consommé to them was on point as they finished it all on the burritos. Greedy kids also split one of my Sope's seeing how I hyped it up... and left crumbs!!! Salsa bar is located in the corner and labeled so you don't go blazin hot unexpectedly with a salsa. For the adults, we decided to go with the Asada Fries for the group to share, the Mulitas with Carne Asada, Steet taco combo with rice & beans, horchata's and of course a Margarita (or 2) It was a bit to hot for the patio our front that evening, and they do have a another one out back. The only downside was that that bathroom was down for the night so we didn't hang out for a round 2.

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.

First of all, eating anywhere in Tempe, starts with a frustrating time.... Trying to find parking and having to pay to park. I don't understand why restaurants don't have parking for customers. Idk maybe I don't know where to look. Second, it's hot AF in here. I feel sorry for the guys cooking. It's 105 today and the restaurant is so small, it's probably impossible to keep cool during the summer. Finally, the food. It all tastes very fresh! NO SEED OILS is amazing. I feel like I have won something when I find a restaurant that uses olive oil and beef tallow to cook in. Best corn tortillas I have had for sure. We basically tried one of each taco. (Although some of the tacos we ordered were wrong, so we just kept adding) not a big deal, because they were delicious and we loved them.
