Came here for breakfast while I waited for my car to be done at the tire shop. The restaurant was clean and I was immediately greeted when I walked in. I ordered a steak, egg, and potato burrito. I added cheese which was an additional .50 cents. It took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. I wasn't asked if my order was dine-in or takeout. I received it as takeout in a bag with a paper plate. I noticed a man that ordered after me got his brought out on a tray and regular dishes though. I thought that was interesting. Anyway, the burrito was hot and fresh. The tortilla was perfectly toasted. The salsa that came with it was really good. I'm usually a green salsa girl, but the red one was my fav here. Well, this is a hidden gem that serves up deliciousness! There were two employees, one was the son of the owner, who was at the counter and was friendly and willing to explain menu items and answer questions... he even joined about a misspelling on the menu... We both ordered the chilaquiles with meat breakfast plate with both red and green sauce. It was a very generous plate with tender meat, tortillas, sauce, and cheese... this was also served with refried beans and yellow rice, again a generous portion. It's definitely enough to share with someone and be satisfied, or to take some home. This is my favorite close-to-home taco joint. It's a tiny place, but there's always a table when I pop in in-person. I see them dispatching a ton of to-go orders when I'm there, so I know they're staying busy, but I get the impression they're still being slept on. I'd like to call out a few highlights. Corn tortillas: we all know the tortilla is the keystone of a good taco, and their tortillas are my most favorite. They're soft, but sturdy enough to hold the generous amount of meat they give you. Flavor is out of this world. I could eat them every day. Carne asada: always on point. I don't think it's the very best in the valley, but any means, but it's consistently well seasoned and flavorful. Pastor: my personal fave. My stomach cannot support the number of pastor tacos I want to order every time I go there. Their frijoles and arroz are great, too. Yummy! Ordered the machaca burrito, green chili burrito and carne asada burrito. All of the burritos were very good and overly stuffed. I appreciated the homemade tortilla and the green sauce was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of gristle in the carne asada burrito. First time at Don Taco. It was a little place tucked behind Big-O tires. The inside was small with seven tables for four but they also had a steady stream of take-out orders as well. There was no music playing and a small TV in the corner, so it wasn't designed for aesthetics. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and there were five other parties. For a tiny spot, it was very popular. My wife ordered the Combo Hard Shell Tacos while I got the Chilaquiles with Beef. We added an order of Chips and Salsa. It all totaled $33.45. We were hoping to get the chips and salsa promptly but the emotionless cashier said: "I'll bring everything out to you." Sure enough, our entire order arrived in about 12 mins. The portions at Don Taco were no joke. Plenty of protein in their dishes. The flavors were okay but not the authentic flavors that other reviewers mentioned. The chips were actually the best part. Ngl Coming from Cali but also a foodie that travels just for food I was a little nervous about this place. Haven't found much good food in Arizona yet however, I stumbled across this place. It was empty when we got here but I seen a big sign that said pozole! I also went ahead and tried the carne asada taco... NO BUENO. I tried the Pastor taco, it was OK! But let me tell you about the pozole... it was FIRE!!! This bowl saved them for me. I will be back just for a bowl of this for sure. We usually get helped by Nate at the register and he's always friendly, easy-going, makes good recommendations and checks on us. Breakfast burritos are great. Love this place! It's actually a little embarrassing how much I've eaten here but it's one of the only good places in our neighborhood. I also love that it's family owned and operated. I am absolutely upset to give this restaurant such a bad review. My husband and I recently moved to Laveen. We have visited this small family oriented restaurant a few times and had positive experiences. The food is very good. We normally encountered a young man who took our orders. He was quite pleasant. Today, 04/21st, I went by myself. There were no customers ordering or seated. This time, a middle-aged man was working. As I stood in front of register, he never greeted me or looked up. I then noticed he was texting on a phone, I stood there a few minutes without him saying one word. I've never experienced such rude behavior when simply trying to order. I decided to walk out rather than financially support such poor treatment. He never once apologized and never said anything as I walked out. I didn't recognize this employee but, hopefully, he'll be re-trained. I don't plan to return. read more

We tried this place a few days ago for lunch. I ordered a carne asada burrito and my boyfriend had the steak and egg burrito. Portions are extra large which is a plus -- my boyfriend wasn't able to finish the whole burrito and that's rare! Flavor was mediocre at best, however, and there were large chunks of gristle that weren't fun either. There really isn't any difference to us between this place and any other Mexican spot. I drove around the valley craving pozole on a random Monday. No one seemed to have what I wanted but I pulled up Don Taco, called and they had it. I got pozole and green and red chicken enchiladas. I'm hyper critical of most foods (especially Mexican) because I feel like everything has turned into fast food but I was so wrong. The service was so nice and to see only two people working but my service still being great spoke volumes. Now onto the food... I had my bar set low and boy was I wrong. Had the Sopes (thicker version of taco) pastor and it was so crunchy and full of flavors. So i stopped by at 7:40 AM and they were open! I ordered the machaca Chilaquiles for breakfast and it was made fairly quickly. I got home and devoured my meal! The corn tortillas were tossed in red sauce and were actually moist and not dry like other places. The machaca was full of flavor. The beans and rice were also very tasty. The only downside was the cashier laughed at me when i said i wanted my chilaquiles with half red and green. So food was a 5 star, but the customer service brought it down one star. read more
