Located at the furthest end of the main street in Tulum (Thank goodness there were signs), Don Diego de la Salva is a little oasis in Tulum that I'd love to come back again to, if I do come back.
Parking?
Yes there are a few spots for parking as I believe the restaurant is also open to the public. We didn't partake in the food, but I'm sure it's good as I smelled it from our room in the morning.
Wifi?
Yes, wifi is always something we're looking for as we plan our days of romping by looking at Tripadvisor and Yelp. We stayed in room 11 and it was strong. Make sure you pay attention to the password when you check in.
Water/Tea/Coffee?
There isn't any in the room. There is a dispenser on the first floor that you can fill one of their glass containers (from the room) with and bring it back. We always just opted going to the nearby Oxo and grabbed large bottles there. Not sure about coffee or tea if there was any.
Room?
Large though everything contained in one. Kind of like a studio. The sink was outside of the bathroom. The soaps and such were all organic. The shampoo also organic and red. Pretty cool if you asked me. There is a hammock in the room, though it did smell like body odor...Also there is a constant draft in the room as there are screens in the smaller "windows" so I'm sure some little bugs fly through too. The USB plugs in the room did not work as it felt like the power kept surging. The bed was comfortable enough.
Nearby?
The best ceviche/seafood place is right across the street so let your stomach be prepared! Definitely drop by El Camello Jr and be ready for a wait during peak times.
Overall, definitely will be back. The owners don't seem to be local but they speak English and Spanish well. I think they might be French. The rooms are nice and roomy and wifi great. Situated near the main street, but if you want to go to the beach, it might be more of a trek. I think you might be able to rent bikes to get there, but yes, it's not close. read more
