    Shrimp Tacos

Maya Tulum Resort is truly a special place in so many ways, the Mayan culture is alive here and there is a level of warmth that is present that cannot be described. First off let's start with the Spa. Massage: I came to Maya Tulum to get an ancient Mayan healing massage.. This massage was done by Doris who was absolutely amazing. This massage was one of it's kind and involved a full body layering of mayan clay, and healing fruit extracts with a scalp massage and showering between each layering application.. I would highly recommend getting a massage here! The massages are restorative, highly relaxing, and enriching. Food: After getting a massage, my massage therapist showed me over to the restaurant/bar that overlooks the beach.. This place was picturesque and beyond dreamy!!! I looked out on the beach and was then greeted by a kind waitress. I ordered shrimp tacos and a lemonade. The lemonade was delicious and fresh, and the shrimp tacos were beyond delicious and addicting!!! The tacos had avocado, cilantro, and I added the red chili paste over them which gave them a nice spice kick!! Beach: The beach was beautiful, and private which I loved!!! This means that there are just enough people on the beach, but not too many. There are hammocks, and lounge chairs to choose from as well as cabana's. The sand is white and crisp, and the ocean water has many rich and deep shades of blue. I came back the next day and purchased a beach pass, and spent the entire afternoon relaxing on the beach and taking everything in. There is bar service on the beach as well. Maya Tulum is so worth checking out!

When my sister and I arrived here it felt like we arrived in paradise. It was the perfect place to unplug. We booked a sound bath which was lovely even though it started thirty minutes late. After sound bath we decided to get a 90 minute massage. One of the best massages I've ever had. Rosario from the spa is the only reason I'm giving this review two stars. We were ready for a nap after a morning of wellness and decided to go back to our villa. Our villa was located to bar that is currently under construction and all we could hear is hammering and drills... so much for our wellness morning. We also booked the tamascal ceremony who the wellness manager Eduardo informed us was $8k pesos if there wasn't 5 guest registered to attend, which we didn't mind because it was something we really wanted to experience. We sent a whats ap message to the front desk and confirmed the ceremony and they confirmed 4pm we have a text. We showed up at 4 and no one was there, so we went to the front desk. Eduardo insisted it was at 5 even after we showed him the text confirming 4pm. We told him we had other reservations at 630 and he explained it was a 2 hour experience. We had been informed it was one hour. My sister and I decided to change are reservations because we really wanted to do it. So I told him it was fine we could attend at 5. He asked if we'd be paying to together or separate I said separate, he then went to tell me it was $2100 pesos per person & I asked him if there was still 5 people attending and he said yes. I asked him why we were being charged $10,500 pesos as a group if he had said it was $8k if no one else signed up. He then went on to say that it was because someone from corporate would be attending and they don't pay. I told him I didn't understand why we would be responsible for paying for an employee and why that wouldn't be comped by the company. He began to get frustrated with me and told me that was the way it is. I told him that it was bad business and we would not be participating. After that the staff was very standoffish towards us and would not greet us like they previously would or assist us with taxi service. We also had an animal scratching the roof of our villa every night which wouldn't let us sleep, we made it work we understood we were in the jungle. Along with that there was constantly some sort of animal poop dropping from the roof. Overall I'm sure there is much better options in Tulúm. Great location and concept. Needs better management and restaurants.

I highly recommend staying here! The rooms are beautiful and almost all of them have a mini dipping pool. Despite the rain, we still enjoyed every moment of it. Service was on point and our turndown service was always done at the perfect time. I wish we had more of a chance to enjoy the amenities but it was still an amazing experience. Their restaurant had a few options for us to enjoy and the server was extremely hospitable. Bikes were available for rent at $20/day but they were cash only. Due to the rain, we opted to drive up the road to the main attractions in the zona hotelera. The property is a little further away from the main area but biking a mile or two down is no problem when you're just cruising. The room had an umbrella and two yoga mats, which were incredibly useful to us. The bed was huge and we were able to enjoy listening to the rain and ocean waves crashing in the middle of the night. They're still undergoing some renovations but we weren't affected by them at all.

I struggled to land on this rating. The staff are beyond accommodating with small acts of service, but the structural issues are so incredibly difficult to deal with as we go into our second night here that I really can't justify anything more than a two-star rating. I hope that this is a wake up call to the owners. The hotel recently underwent amazing renovations. On our first night here, it looked picturesque - the lights, the palms and ocean waves in the distance. Everything quickly turned sour when we were informed that the reservation that we had confirmed months ago was not honored and our double oceanfront room with a private plunge pool had been given to a large group that also had a reservation. This was very difficult to process because I had put such an emphasis on getting the perfect room and messaging the staff multiple times over the last few months just to have the reservation team ignore all of their promises that we'd have the specific room that we requested. The alternative single-bed rooms that they offered, the moment we arrived(which is when they informed us that our room was no longer available) were literally the last two rooms they had left. We were very hesitant to take them, but we did and were pleasantly surprised to find that they looked very modern as well. We had hoped that would have been the extent of our issues, but an hour after we checked in we learned that rolling blackouts in the rooms which shut off the running water and the electricity were frequent and could last anywhere from a few seconds to hours. We've experienced many of these blackouts and I am currently writing this review in the dark as the power has gone out again. I don't mind the dark, but the AC going out is unbearable in this heat and humidity. When the water is running, be prepared for the pungent smell of rotten eggs to come from the sink and shower. I have been asking what is causing the smell without any clear explanation or proposed solution which is really frustrating. After a long day of sweating in the Tulum climate, the last thing I want to do is rinse off with rotten egg water. I was very excited to have on-site dinner and take advantage of yoga in their studio today and was also angry to learn that because of the large party these amenities and others were not going to be made available to us even though they are a part of the selling point for the hotel to all guests. I may have been able to accept this if it weren't for the fact that they never warned us that this large party would be here and severely impacting our stay. I love the workers here, they are kind people who are sympathetic, but this place is not living up to the expectations...still in the dark Update: it's our last night and my AC stopped working. I communicated this to reception at 7 so they could come up with a solution before I came back from dinner. Nothing was done. They did not even send anybody to my room to check on it. Now it's midnight and I'm waiting in the lobby for them to call someone who can go fix it so I can sleep. This was a confusing night considering that the large group previously mentioned in the review was having some very weird dry-humping session in the large yoga studio which I had to see on my way back to the room from dinner. I also brought up this inappropriate situation to the reception and nothing was done. Not child friendly.

Confession: I, the renowned world traveler, thought Maya Tulum was a town in Mexico, not an adorable, relaxing, and immaculately maintained yoga and massage resort along the pristine beaches of Tulum, Mexico, about a 90 minute ride from Cancun. So, many of my friends and coworkers were confused when I told people I was going to "Maya Tulum" for vacation. Except the 15 or so repeat travelers from O2 Yoga, who embark on the studio's annual retreat to this tropical destination. Maya Tulum is one of the first small resorts you will come by after passing through "Little Tulum," a series of shops and cafes off a main highway in Mexico. The resort itself offers vacation packages that include meals and yoga, but I traveled as part of a planned retreat with my fare including a 7-night stay in a beachfront cabana, two daily yoga classes with instructors traveling with us, and 3 vegetarian/vegan buffet meals per day. Not included were the awesome fresh coconuts for purchase at the bar, alcohol, or fresh fruit and juice smoothies. (I partook of the first two, and they were wonderful.) Some cabanas sit right on the beach and others, called garden view, are slightly further back--i.e. a two minute walk to the ocean. There are two yoga halls and something like 7 massage therapists on staff. Signing up for a massage (my deep tissue was $110 US for 80 minutes) was simple and stress free. Every cabana and indoor area has a water basin out front to rinse the sand off your feet--so shoes are not required anywhere on the resort. This was the best part. Every meal had fresh fruit and a vegan hot soup. Excellent food cameos include the oatmeal with breakfast, french toast, and fried plantains. The margaritas are strong and sour, and beers cost something like $3. The staff is friendly and helpful, and all the guests are super blissed out and easy going. There is free WiFi in the dining hall and by the reception area. I balked at dropping nearly $3,000 for a week long vacation (this includes airfare, dog care, and other incidentals, not just the stay at Maya Tulum), but now know why every veteran of our yoga retreat says it's worth it. I hope to return!

Maya Tulum is a very special place. I came here five years ago, and just went back again. This is an eco-friendly Yoga Retreat with many additional options for meditation health cleansing. The resort itself is about an hour and a half Drive south of the Cancun Airport. You can easily arrange in advance for a taxi ride to and from the airport and when you arrived there will be someone holding a sign with your last name on it. Once you get to the resorts, they welcome you with fresh juice. The fresh juice here is phenomenal. Then they check you into your room which is like a small hat with a bathroom seats that you can relax in and beds with mosquito netting around them. There are fans but no air conditioning. For some this may be an issue. You can choose to either come with a group of individuals that are already going on a retreat or you can choose to come on your own and join some of the general yoga classes which they generally have around 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. They range from Ashtanga to Hatha to restorative yoga. The mats are very clean the area is well-maintained and it is so impressive to hear some of the classes being taught in both English and Spanish. The food in the cafe on the premises is tasty and fresh. It mainly caters to individuals that are either vegetarian, vegan, for omnivores that eat gluten-free diets. Every morning to have fresh juice freshly brewed ginger tea coffee Panda Buffet with fruits eggs black beans pico de gallo and other such delicious fresh items. The staff there is also very kind and it is a huge plus that you can charge everything to your room so you don't need to have cash on hand. This is also one of the areas on premises that has internet access. However it is not always reliable but that is a good thing because I feel that coming to this place is so that you can get away from all of the day-to-day screen time that many of us experience. The premises are quite large and they have a Temescal also called a sweat lodge which you can participate in. They also have a labyrinth for meditative walking which overlooks the water and is so beautiful. Also scattered throughout the property are hammocks for relaxation and chairs that recline on the beach under fixed umbrellas. At night you can hear the waves as they crash while you drift to sleep. I would say one of the best parts of this Resort is getting one of the Mayan treatments for massages that they have to offer. Emilia is a truly gifted individual. She really knows how to identify which muscles are tight and where tension needs alleviation, she also uses many techniques including heat and cupping. Isabella is also very good with the neurosedative massage. Christina chair massage includes having Honey Massage into your skin and scalp feels so good and then you smell delicious afterwards. They also have guided tours several days of the week, we opted to do the Cenote tour which was amazing! I highly recommend coming to Maya Tulum if you're looking for a place to get away from the stressors of day today living and want to let go and restore repair and rejuvenate.

Needed a quick getaway and wanted to start the year off right. Maya Tulum was absolute PARADISE! Seriously heaven on earth. Wanted an authentic holistic Mexican feel. We stayed here for 4 days/ 3 nights and it was perfect. Rooms were shaped of huts and our beds had mosquito nets. Everyone was incredibly kind. This resort offered morning and afternoon yoga at $15, complimentary/healthy breakfast, holistic spa services, and most importantly right on the beach. Nothing better to falling asleep and waking up to ocean waves. The resort was clean with greenery everywhere. They offered breakfast (complimentary), lunch & dinner. Food was surprisingly delicious and extremely healthy. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, clubs and shopping. There were a few yoga retreats and safe for solo travelers. Will definitely return!

Seriously, does it get better than this? It feels like paradise! The beach is beautiful. The yoga classes are awesome. Walking the Labyrinth makes me so happy!! Watching the sunrise here is heavenly. Worth getting up early for! Enjoy every minute if you get the chance to be here. The team will make sure all your wishes come true!

We ate breakfast basically every morning at the hotel and we enjoyed everything from the pancakes, granola, oat, avocado toast, teas, and coffees. We were given the information about the property and all the amenities as well as given a tour and then shown to our room, typically when you first arrive, they perform a greeting cleanse to, clear energy, set your vibe and give you a little taste of the beautiful Mayan cultural traditions. Unfortunately, when we were shown over to the location where they perform the energy cleanse no one was there so they said we'd have to come back the next day which never ended up happening. Finally, moments before we were checking out we asked if it was possible just to see what the experience was like before we left. That part was actually really good, especially after our experience staying here for six days, which will make sense by the end of this review. When we checked in, it was already dark out but the design and lighting as well as the bio inspired architecture which fuses art in nature was pretty cool to see. They only give you one key for your room for some odd reason, it was a little inconvenient because it meant that me and my wife had to be together at all moments and couldn't explore or do services separately without the hassle of having to meet up to share the key, or the other option is to go walk all the way to the front desk, which, although the walk is beautiful, the design of the floor is made out of a bunch of branches for the walkway and is very difficult to navigate, especially at night so walking turned out to be more of a hassle, but that's just me being nit-picky. The other option is you can reach out to your concierge and then they can send someone which means you're waiting sometimes 5 to 10 minutes, again very small minor inconveniences but nonetheless adds up when staying there for six days. It definitely has an effect on the overall appeal and serenity that one would expect from a place like this. The room itself had two very small shelf like closets definitely not enough hangers or space to accommodate both of our very limited wardrobe that we brought. I had to put 2 to 3 shirts on one hanger and hang the pants inside and that's literally all I brought other than T-shirts and socks and underwear and one pair of nice shoes I literally packed very minimal and still didn't have enough space... again very small inconvenience but nonetheless 20 different small inconveniences all fused together to make one kind of annoying overall experience. Now I can say that I have mixed feelings about the minimal electricity and necessity to use tea candles for our lighting, but I respect the sustainability aspect of it and it did make very nice environment and mood. The only downside is they tell you that you don't blow the candles out and you can leave them on overnight and we had one explode right next to our heads and over all of our bathroom essentials. The shower is right in the middle there's no protection for water so it gets all over the floor, I nearly slipped a few times because of it. Probably sounds nit picky, but these are things I believe make it or break it for places like this. We experienced some type of mishap daily. We ordered hot water and they brought a dirty used coffee pot. They left the dirty brush in the toilet area. Didn't pick it up until the following day. Asked us if we could place it outside the door. Took forever to bring blankets. They got maybe 8/10 requests wrong and charged us for some and denied that, so wasn't able to get a refund. wasn't much, but principally speaking it's horrible feeling in the midst of many things going wrong. Atmosphere - 90% (small weird sewage smell almost everywhere except the room) Vibe - 80% Cost - 75% should be more enjoyable for the price imo... i dont mind paying extra for experience when its on point Food - 60% (first meal, room-service, was incredible {and cost matched that} every other meal on property lacked in all ways except the sushi which we enjoyed as a snack before going to dinner off site. Really over priced in general but the experience and design makes it palatable. Service - 2 stars overall (except for our concierge who had to deal with her associates lack of professionalism and incredible number of mistakes made each day). Location/architecture,view - 100 (If it wasn't for the sound of the ocean slapping the rocks below our balcony and the sound of the waves soothing us at night, waking up to the most amazing view from bed facing the ocean and the sunrise and also the sunsets each night with a great breeze and insane temperatures than this trip would probably have been all bad. My suggestion. Book 1-2 nights for the location and view then find a better spot elsewhere.

There are no concierge reliably onsite. You are given a WhatsApp number to text and sometimes they can be very slow to respond. First issue I ran into was the concierge's lack of punctuality and poor communication regarding bike rentals. She promised a bike at 8am but 15 mins before the agreed upon time texted me that she could not follow through. I agreed to wait until 10 but was delayed a second time until 11. The second delay was not even communicated to me without my prompting. See chat screenshots. The main issue was my balcony was flooded by careless guests upstairs who left their outdoor tub running (see pic). I was splashed and had to change. My phone also got wet and I could not charge it for the rest of the night until it dried. I could have had other valuables such as electronics out that could have been irreparably damaged and I could not use either loungers, which were soaking wet for the rest of the day/night. The water ran for 10 mins before hotel staff could stop it. No one came to clean my balcony. However, most disappointing was the concierge's refusal to take accountability for the incident (again, see screenshots). I would have been happy with a complementary margarita but instead was completely dismissed. I asked to speak to a manager on site and was told there were none. I asked for an email address or phone number and was given only the reservation email address. I detailed my experience in an email and waited 2 weeks before righting this review. No one replied. It is my experience that guests' conduct at the hotel is within the control and part of the hotel's responsibility and that top tier hospitality establishments, which I had assumed Azulik to be, value customer satisfaction and have accountability. I was sadly wrong.

First off, Service -…read morethis was actually one of the more affordable beach zone hotels, but compared to the other Colibri hotels we visited, the service here was better and exemplary. In particular, the front desk person Gilberto was such a star, functioning like a personal concierge during our entire stay. He catered to our every need, going above and beyond, even walking out to the street to talk to taxis for us. As a small business owner, I know good employees, and Gilberto is an MVP, but the entire staff was terrific and reflected the same attention to hospitality and detail that rivals what we experienced in fine hotels in Thailand. The hotel property is quaint, with all units facing the beach. This hotel is on a secluded stretch of the hotel zone, so you do have to walk about 10-15 minutes to get to other hotels, shopping, and restaurant, if you don't want to pay for the pricey taxi's in the area. Of course, there are pluses and minuses with this, but we were ok with it, and enjoyed the quiet non-party atmosphere. The beachfront is a little inlet bay and there is a beautiful sand beach, but there are alot of rocks in the water, so it doesn't make for good swimming, but if you walk down the beach to the right about 5 minutes you get to a really nice swimming beach that stretches for miles and was as good or better than Playa Paraiso. Also on one side of the inlet is a mound of volcanic rock that was popular for viewing sunrises and sunsets. Food here was really good. We ate included breakfast every morning, and had a lunch and dinner here. You can ask them to prepare even off menu items, like whole fried fish at the best price I could find anywhere in Tulum. Octopus was a standout too. Cocktails were average for Tulum's high cocktail standards. There were nice touches like fresh coffee brought to your room every single morning, and tea and chocolates waiting in your room every morning. Total surprise was a gift addressed to every member of our party under the lobby tree on Christmas morning. The gifts weren't of the dollar store variety either. They were quite nice arts and crafts. Never had a hotel do this for us in our lives. If you're looking for a quiet hotel for the family with impeccable service, El Pez is for you.

Breakfast was included to us- fresh juice, coffee and a main meal which was good! Staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. Small touches like hot tea brought to your room at night and they set up an essential oil diffuser, complementary cocktail when you arrive and coffee on the front porch in the morning. Wonderful Experience :)

It is a small hotel boutique located on a secluded beach of Tulum. It's at the start of the boutique road and walking distance to every store and restaurants. Nayeli the front office lady and staff are just genuine people, so humble and nice. So attentive and great customer service. Nayeli welcome us into our hotel room and gave us a quick little tour and guide around the property and town. The bungalows are very simple but honestly it's everything you need. Beds, restroom, porch with a hammock! Our room did not have a tv but honestly you don't need one. We had our rooms and iPads, they have WiFi. Expect to spend a lot of time on the beach, and relax! Shut down electrics. The restroom, food and drinks is perfect! Everything is honestly good! I was not disappointed. Again, they are so attentive! The best part of the private beach! Located between two late rocks. It's literally your own beach! The walk out is a little rocky by once you walk about 3 feet you feel the smooth sand, you can walk out for miles (probably) They also have many turtles nests! They work closely with an organization that tracks / takes care of them. If you are lucky! You will see them hatch! I was very fortune to experience it. It was BEAUTIFUL. My kids had so much fun. Thank you to the worker that opened coconuts for them! Thank you everyone for making mom life easier! You will not be disappointed. Forever grateful and can't wait to go back one day.

Since it was off-season, there was an extra discount by booking through them directly. I do have to say, Nayeli was fantastic via email with us for months prior to our reservation! She was always available to answer questions for me. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by Grace, and she was so friendly and always smiling! She made sure our stay was pleasant! The rest of the staff was wonderful, I wish I could remember all their names! Ulices and Desiderio were wonderful at the restaurant as well. The location of the hotel is great. It's in the Zone Hotelera near other restaurants and bars and hotels, so you can hop around throughout the day if you'd like, or just stay on the beach. Room A Superior was on the second floor of the boutique style rooms. The inside was cozy, we had a couch, 2 balconies, a hammock, and patio furniture to sit out and watch the ocean waves crash. The thatch roof was sealed so we never had bugs in the room. The AC always worked great as well! Didn't have any problems keeping cool when we were in the room. And the bed was extremely comfortable, no complaints! We would close the blinds around the bed nightly just for the look, no real need for mosquito nets unless you keep your balcony door open and they get in. The safe was easy to use and just the right size for our wallets and passports...don't plan on bringing anything larger than in iPad if you want to lock it up. The room was clean, and because of it being a beachside hotel, sand in your room was inevitable, but it only added to the charm of the place! The room was cleaned daily and we always had fresh towels, toiletries, and 2 bottles of fresh water. Use this water to brush your teeth! The water from the faucet is salty, which we were warned about prior to our stay. The shower is also a little salty. They give you shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, mosquito repellent, and aloe vera gel. You also has 2 beach towels that could get changed as needed as well in a cute carry bag to get you to the beach. The beach is semi-private and they did their best to clean up the seaweed daily, multiple times a day if needed. Unfortunately the seaweed issue along the entire Riviera Maya is apparent, so you can't really get into the water by the shoreline. This however does not take away the gorgeous views you get at this hotel, by your room, by the restaurant, and on the beach. There were sea turtle nests protected by the staff, and they monitor them nightly to look for hatchlings and protect them to guide them into the water. We couldn't catch any hatching while we stayed! I would of loved to. And I admire how much the staff loves to take care of them as if they were their own. The food, wow! The food was incredible! We had dinner our first night and since I had seen the fresh lobster coming in from the beach, I had to order the grilled lobster! It was amazing!!! The drinks were always delicious as well! And the breakfast was so good! I did not have a bad meal or drink during our stay! We almost didn't want to leave!! I will always stay at this hotel whenever in Tulum. Cabs were always easy to grab right outside the hotel making it very easy to get around.
