I had the pleasure of working with Betz in their Turn Key program and I was impressed! Evie is a sweet little pup, but also very stubborn and she took to the training immediately, and with practice at home on a regular basis, we made great progress! The counter surfing has ended, and she is getting much better with her manners as well as off leash recall. I also recently boarded Evie, and let me tell you- that was incredible. She went out 2x for hour long hikes, and I added on some boosters to reinforce her Turn Key training, she had a blast, and was exhausted when I picked her up. I had to wait over two years to write this, to calm down! I brought my Great Dane puppy,( He already knew his basics), with the SOLE intention of teaching him how to go up a ramp. He was going to be a very large boy! Instead of any type of positive training, they simply shocked the hell out of him-Contantly. I never came back,but this incident reinforced a great fear of ramps, which caused so much trouble throughout his life, since he grew to be 185 pounds! We love Doggone!! Our 10 month old German Shepherd, Kai, completed the 20 day board and train - he was a good dog before Doggone, and now he is the BEST dog! He is our first fur baby, and we were very hesitant to send him away for training. He is from a working line, has tons of energy, and is overconfident (had trouble recognizing social queues from other dogs) - which is why we choose the 20 day. After researching board and train options and talking with a few folks who board/trained their dogs, we decided on Doggone (best decision ever)! Their website was inviting and they spent a ton of time answering all of our questions beforehand to ensure we were making the right decision. They also let you tour the facility beforehand - it is well organized, spotless, and spacious. While Kai was at training, we received daily updates, pictures and videos of what he was working on. In short, they went above and beyond our expectations. Kai's recall is now phenomenal. He will come when we call, no matter what. I honestly did not think this level of progress was possible in such a short amount of time. Dog gone amazing Gross negligence, bad skin infection, leaving dogs unattended for 15 hours a day, defensive and unprofessional owner. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place leaves dogs kenneled and alone from 5:30pm to 9am, they will deny that, but it's true. Attempt to pick up your dogs during those hours or drop off. Threaten to show up with Reno PD and then it's "I'll pay someone to stay late do you can get your dog". Reasonable deducting will tell you they are leaving the dogs unattended during those hours. They will make drop off work for your money but guarantee it won't be too far past 5pm when the humans leave and the dogs go into crates for 15 hours. Dropped my pristine and incredibly healthy papered AKC baby off for two week board and train, $2800. My dog was there for 6 days before I got word he had a major skin infection, that per the vet they took him to, shouldn't have evolved to such bad skin infection, unless left in unsanitary conditions. They neglected to notice it or treat it and left it to fester and turn into a severe skin infection. Not small, 5 inches by 8 inches according the vet, it became so bad that his skin became infected and per the vet had purulent(puss) drainage and was malodorous. The vet said that he would need anesthesia just to shave the area it was so painful. The owner Maikalea became defensive and unprofessional because I called the vet myself. I did this because it's my right, as well Mailaela isn't a medical professional and she could not answer the questions I had regarding pharmacokinetics of the medication, potential withdrawal and medical rationale for prescribing that specific medication. As an advanced medical professional myself, and my partner, we wanted to know why the vet prescribed such a large dose of a nerve medication with many potential side effects including seizure from withdrawal. As well we wanted to know how his skin got like this. Especially, for what Dog Gone was calling "a bad hot spot" that just "popped up faster than any they have ever seen". Well that's because they don't adequately care for all the dogs they have and leave them in crates where they urinate and defecate for 15 hours unattended. The vet said she was under the impression he had this before, per dog gone. Completely false and I continued to correct them when they would say that, asking where they got that info because both my dogs presentation and vet records show that is a lie. Maikaela could only provide a receipt from the vet, the fact I called the vet set her off into unprofessional, defensive guilt woman mode. I assume she knew she was at fault, and she(her kennel/training center staff) is. If it were caught then he wouldn't have evolved into a full skin infection. I was trying to be polite and play nice so that my dog wouldn't receive the brunt of her anger. Note that he was already isolated from the group at this point and didn't receive any training. I was so angry my partner had to start having interactions with these people because I was ready to flip a table or quite literally a person. I was in Peru and attempted to change my flight to get to him sooner, I couldn't as I was in the Andes traveling to Cusco then getting to Lima to get home and I couldn't return any sooner. In fact my flight got delayed. This was a pet owners worse nightmare. She then tried to with hold my dog from me and only let me have him at her discretion. If I could post the video of the call with the vet, I would in a heart beat. Since you can only post photos I'll post our interactions and the transcription I have from the vet message although there are some errors with Apple translate, you can see the picture. If you love your dog take them to OnCommand or another place where neglectful, defensive, unprofessional hillbillies aren't the main care taker. We are working with our attorney to send letter for full reimbursement and if not met we will be going full speed to court to sue for full reimbursement, further vet expenses we have obtained and pain and suffering. Absolutely great experience using DGA for our training needs. We put our Goldendoodle in their 21 day board and train and though I missed him, it was well worth it. He went in with basic puppy obedience issues and came out the best dog I have ever been around. We just got back from his first off lead backpacking weekend and he did perfect. So glad we made the decision to send our pup to DGA. We were really struggling with leash behavior and anxiety. We signed up for the 20 day board and train. While it was heart breaking to think we would be away from him that long, we knew he was in good hands. DGA would send multiple updates w/ pictures and videos every single day. We got to see our pup and hear about his progress. When he came home, they did a thorough training session for us humans in our home. Since then, my dog has become a great hiking/walking buddy, responds quickly to any command, and has less anxiety around strangers. We went to the evaluation and the team was amazing from the very start. We ended up choosing the 17 day board and train with specific goals for them to focus on. It was a big investment and we were aware that there's no guarantee when it comes to training a dog. The entire time Zoey was in her program we got several updates a day that included photos, tips about training, and how she was doing. The updates were always amazing and helped us get through the 17 days without her. We could not be happier with how Zoey behaves following this board and train program! Neither of us ever thought that she would be as well trained as she is and her recall is better than ever. I think the results depend on who you get at this place. We have two black labs, 4 years apart in age. Our first one was trained by Malaika a few years ago and was great. Came back a very well trained dog, excellent off leash, would come immediately when called, on leash was perfect. It was an "amazing" transformation. We've been so happy with the results that we couldn't wait until our younger lab was old enough to go through the training. Our second did the advanced board and train this summer and has been terrible. Absolutely no difference in off leash obedience, pulls on leash, and we can't have her outside in the front yard without a runoff scenario. I don't get the impression that Malaika had a lot to do with this one's training. At pickup, the girl that worked with our dog's on leash solution to poor walking was a prong collar... lot of money for a prong collar. We really don't think our 18 month pup did it, but we have an 18 month old daughter so we got professional training for peace of mind. Emma came to our house for (4) 1-hr training sessions. We are so happy we found DGA! We had rescued our husky/shepard mix about a year and a half ago and she had some behaviors (leash pulling, no recall, dog reactivity) that we were looking to work on. Even after our first session, I was so happy with the progress we had made. Sally helped us understand the tools that we would be using and how to use them appropriately. After our four sessions, our pup can now enjoy off leash hikes and has a much better relationship with other dogs. We would recommend DGA and Sally for any sort of dog training! They are a bunch of scam artists. We ordered 1 set of 3 lessons and 2 booster packs. We went to the lessons and then during a booster pack we had to cancel due to a family emergency, "Don't worry you get 2". After that we had a snowstorm in which we were in white-out conditions. We called 17 minutes late because we were on a mountain and could not get there and had 0 reception. They do not even call me back they send me a canceled invoice saying I missed 2 appointments, no call no-shows, in my defense the first one I did call and, the second one I called late because I could not even get over the hill. When I contact them they are rude about it saying you missed 2 and heres our website for the policy....I did not sign up through their website , so what does that have to do with it? I would avoid this place at all costs they are just out for your money and have no care about you or your animals at all. read more

Malaika is as amazing as her business title. I was extremely uninformed about e-collar training before I met her and don't know what I was thinking when I decided to try a DIY approach. I lost my 2 German Wirehaired Pointers in the winter of 2008 near Verdi, NV. Both of my dogs were gone for 3 weeks. When I got them back I decided to give e-collars a try and bought one from Scheels after doing some light research. Once I brought it home I followed the product's instructions and my male, Loki seemed to accept it. Unfortunately 6 months later my dogs ran away again. Luckily it was only for an hour or so, but I was done with trying to train my dogs myself. I found Malaika through an internet search and made an appointment for her demo. After meeting with her and seeing her with her dog Chase I was ecstatic to start her lesson program. Malaika offers a communication link between you and your dog through the use of an e-collar that is always positive. The e-collar is never to be used as a punishment and my dog and I mutually understand that. Through Loki's trust that the e-collar is positive I am able to guide him with commands off the leash which makes Loki happy and free. Loki and I did the "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" option and I have not had a problem with him running away in the 6 months that Malaika has been working with us. Plus Malaika had the best price and offer/guarantee in the city! I love how Malaika worked with my dog and me in private lessons and then let us graduate to group lessons. When I go to group and Loki is not listening to me Malaika doesn't hesitate she takes Loki and helps us one-on-one again. Helping me learn to train my dog is her highest priority and I highly recommend her to all dog owners (looking for a trainer) who desire a well-behaved, respectful, trained and, above all else, happy dog! read more

I have a 13 month old Goldendoodle who has been in training classes since she was 16 weeks old. We had been attending treat positive reinforcement only training classes which were very good, but she just needed a step beyond what we had been doing. A friend had attended a set of Dog Gone Amazing classes and had excellent results with his Australian Cattle dog. When I called, the person who answered was very helpful. I decided to sign up for the 4 lesson Advanced set of classes which included prong collar and ecollar training. My girl improved significantly within one day of using the prong collar. She no longer pulled and walking her has become a joy. She wasn't bad before, but did pull a bit. The ecollar training wasn't what I had expected. No one should use an ecollar unless they are specifically trained to do so. How it is used depends so much on the dog and the relationship between the dog and owner as well as the setting. Sally did an excellent job training both Gracie and me. She was encouraging and patient. I appreciated the one-on-one nature of the class. While it is a little more expensive then other obedience classes, receiving the prong collar and ecollar as part of the package as well as the four 1 hour one-on-one sessions made a big difference. Going through these courses doesn't mean you now have a perfectly trained dog. It takes practice, consistency and patience. Sally provided an excellent start. I plan on enrolling Gracie in their Trek and Train daycare program. I also feel as though I can sign up for some brush up courses in the future. I highly recommend Dog Gone Amazing. We have taken our Chocolate lab there twice now for boarding and training (while boarding). The first time we were anxious as there was separation anxiety (on our part!) but she seemed to love it and the daily trip pictures helped. On our second stay/training she learned off leash walking and commands.
