They certainly chose the perfect name for this business!! It truly is Dog Gone Amazing!! We put our 9 month old Australian Labor doodle in the 17 day board and train camp. The communication was top notch, daily texts, videos and updates. We could tell he was loved and got a lot of attention! Once he came home we instantly noticed he understood our commands. We are a senior couple and wanted to make sure he would be safe with us. We had never done this before but the peace of mind had been invaluable. We did reinforce his training but it took a very short time before he knew exactly what we were asking of him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The owner and trainers are AMAZING!! Mike and Kellie Side note: It's been over 3 now and he just gets better and better!!! read more

The training and boarding at Dog Gone Amazing is outstanding. The staff is very responsive, timely, and truly cares for you dog. I had the pleasure of working with Betz in their Turn Key program and I was impressed! Evie is a sweet little pup, but also very stubborn and she took to the training immediately, and with practice at home on a regular basis, we made great progress! The counter surfing has ended, and she is getting much better with her manners as well as off leash recall. I also recently boarded Evie, and let me tell you- that was incredible. She went out 2x for hour long hikes, and I added on some boosters to reinforce her Turn Key training, she had a blast, and was exhausted when I picked her up. The staff is wonderful about checking in and sending photos both when training and boarding. I would and have recommended Dog Gone Amazing for training and boarding needs. read more

I had to wait over two years to write this, to calm down! I brought my Great Dane puppy,( He already knew his basics), with the SOLE intention of teaching him how to go up a ramp. He was going to be a very large boy! Instead of any type of positive training, they simply shocked the hell out of him-Contantly. I never came back, but this incident reinforced a great fear of ramps, which caused so much trouble throughout his life, since he grew to be 185 pounds! STAY CLEAR of these people ,IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG.!!!! read more

Wonderful people that do amazing work! We love knowing that when we drop our dog off, he's happy and safe. He loves going there and literally howls with excitement when we pull up. I 100% recommend Dog Gone Amazing for both training and boarding. read more

Dog Gone Amazing - Pet Training Near Me - Reno, Nevada

I am actually reviewing for several friends of mine. I do not have a dog but have heard amazing things about Dog Gone Amazing from several friends who I travel with. They have done board and trains or private lessons with the staff there, and then get to board their dog while they travel. They love getting the daily updates to see exactly what their dog is doing during the day! Whenever I travel with my friends they show me all the pictures of their dogs having the best time. I think it is incredibly cool that they get daily updates and whenever we get a dog I am definitely going to DGA! read more

We had our girl, Penny, here for boarding and training last month and couldn't be happier with the results! Betz and Mikayla were here primary caregivers and both are rockstars! We were updated daily with pics and any challenges and breakthroughs that Penny made while there. Two weeks later and we are still enjoying Penny even more...no more leash pulling! Highly recommend this woman-owned business! read more

We love Doggone!! Our 10 month old German Shepherd, Kai, completed the 20 day board and train - he was a good dog before Doggone, and now he is the BEST dog! He is our first fur baby, and we were very hesitant to send him away for training. He is from a working line, has tons of energy, and is overconfident (had trouble recognizing social queues from other dogs) - which is why we choose the 20 day. After researching board and train options and talking with a few folks who board/trained their dogs, we decided on Doggone (best decision ever)! Their website was inviting and they spent a ton of time answering all of our questions beforehand to ensure we were making the right decision. They also let you tour the facility beforehand - it is well organized, spotless, and spacious. While Kai was at training, we received daily updates, pictures and videos of what he was working on. In short, they went above and beyond our expectations. Kai's recall is now phenomenal. He will come when we call, no matter what. It is so nice to feel confident in your dog, especially while off leash hiking. Knowing how others can perceive his breed, we are extremely pleased with his behavior and friendly, happy, obedient nature. The number of compliments we receive on his obedience is proof in Doggone's program. Malaika (who is awesome by the way!) still connects with us and checks in to see how Kai is doing. We highly recommend Doggone to anyone!! read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! THEY ARE MIRACLE WORKERS!! Everything about their center is incredible! I AM SO GRATEFUL! I can not believe that in just 14 days, they have taught my pup so much! I honestly did not think this level of progress was possible in such a short amount of time. Enrolling him in the 2wk board and train was one of the best investments I have made for our family this year! DGA certainly overdelivers from beginning to end! Their intake process, training ethics, facility management, client communication, training knowledge, education philosophy and thorough daily updates are both impressive and inspiring. I was blown away by the variety of locations the trainers explored during the 2wks, including malls, coffee shops, restaurants, parks, markets and more! Mochi was introduced to cows, skateboards, a wheelchair, statues, babies, kids, an aquarium and even a Ferris Wheel! The variety of exposure was such a bonus! And of course I must shout out the incredible team at DGA! The staff work as a team, but Mikaela was our primary trainer. She's basically a dog-psychic with Santa Clause magic - a true miracle worker! From day one, she clearly demonstrated her depth of knowledge, range of tools, commitment to healthy long-lasting behavior change, and a loving obsession of her job! We had and unforgettable experience with her as our trainer!! BACKSTORY: Before sending my rambunctious 60lb Samoyed to DGA, my walks with him were embarrassing and out of control. He would pee on everything, pull me in all directions, jump on guests and create leash-burns on my hands from lunging at squirrels and rabbits. I had hired a private dog trainer before, but due to sudden medical issues, I was unable to keep up with the trainings. Fast forward to today, Mochi and I went for our first walk since his graduation. I felt the emotions of gratitude bubble up bc for the first time in 1.5yrs, I could let go of anxiety and finally enjoy a safe leisurely walk with my dog. It feels like a dream come true and I am so grateful! read more

Dog gone amazing Gross negligence, bad skin infection, leaving dogs unattended for 15 hours a day, defensive and unprofessional owner. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place leaves dogs kenneled and alone from 5:30pm to 9am, they will deny that, but it's true. Attempt to pick up your dogs during those hours or drop off. Threaten to show up with Reno PD and then it's "I'll pay someone to stay late do you can get your dog". Reasonable deducting will tell you they are leaving the dogs unattended during those hours. They will make drop off work for your money but guarantee it won't be too far past 5pm when the humans leave and the dogs go into crates for 15 hours. Dropped my pristine and incredibly healthy papered AKC baby off for two week board and train, $2800. My dog was there for 6 days before I got word he had a major skin infection, that per the vet they took him to, shouldn't have evolved to such bad skin infection, unless left in unsanitary conditions. They neglected to notice it or treat it and left it to fester and turn into a severe skin infection. Not small, 5 inches by 8 inches according the vet, it became so bad that his skin became infected and per the vet had purulent(puss) drainage and was malodorous. The vet said that he would need anesthesia just to shave the area it was so painful. The owner Maikalea became defensive and unprofessional because I called the vet myself. I did this because it's my right, as well Mailaela isn't a medical professional and she could not answer the questions I had regarding pharmacokinetics of the medication, potential withdrawal and medical rationale for prescribing that specific medication. As an advanced medical professional myself, and my partner, we wanted to know why the vet prescribed such a large dose of a nerve medication with many potential side effects including seizure from withdrawal. As well we wanted to know how his skin got like this. Especially, for what Dog Gone was calling "a bad hot spot" that just "popped up faster than any they have ever seen". Well that's because they don't adequately care for all the dogs they have and leave them in crates where they urinate and defecate for 15 hours unattended. The vet said she was under the impression he had this before, per dog gone. Completely false and I continued to correct them when they would say that, asking where they got that info because both my dogs presentation and vet records show that is a lie. Maikaela could only provide a receipt from the vet, the fact I called the vet set her off into unprofessional, defensive guilt woman mode. I assume she knew she was at fault, and she(her kennel/training center staff) is. If it were caught then he wouldn't have evolved into a full skin infection. I was trying to be polite and play nice so that my dog wouldn't receive the brunt of her anger. Note that he was already isolated from the group at this point and didn't receive any training. I was so angry my partner had to start having interactions with these people because I was ready to flip a table or quite literally a person. I was in Peru and attempted to change my flight to get to him sooner, I couldn't as I was in the Andes traveling to Cusco then getting to Lima to get home and I couldn't return any sooner. In fact my flight got delayed. This was a pet owners worse nightmare. She then tried to with hold my dog from me and only let me have him at her discretion. If I could post the video of the call with the vet, I would in a heart beat. Since you can only post photos I'll post our interactions and the transcription I have from the vet message although there are some errors with Apple translate, you can see the picture. If you love your dog take them to OnCommand or another place where neglectful, defensive, unprofessional hillbillies aren't the main care taker. We are working with our attorney to send letter for full reimbursement and if not met we will be going full speed to court to sue for full reimbursement, further vet expenses we have obtained and pain and suffering. If you treat your dog like family, don't send them here. In fact, run. read more

Dog Gone Amazing is a fantastic education center, and trainer Sally is an outstanding person and dog / human trainer. Our rescue dog Kaia Blue had some puppy and young dog behavioral challenges (nipping the human, biting the leash, recall, to name a few). Sally trained me to properly and effectively work with Kaia Blue by utilizing a calm and confident approach, which has resulted in clear communication and trust between Kaia and me. She also provided training with tools so that we use them correctly for positive results. At five months old, Kaia Blue has a strong foundation that we will build on with future lessons. We have scheduled off-leash hike training next and are looking forward to that. Kaia Blue and I highly recommend Dog Gone Amazing. Thank you so much! We are thrilled to be graduates of Dog Gone Amazing. read more

Absolutely great experience using DGA for our training needs. We put our Goldendoodle in their 21 day board and train and though I missed him, it was well worth it. He went in with basic puppy obedience issues and came out the best dog I have ever been around. We just got back from his first off lead backpacking weekend and he did perfect. He led and explored and fell back never once leaving our eye sight. We are going to continue to use DGA for continuous training and their trek and train classes. We also plan to get another puppy next year and plan to do the exact same board and train program with him. I cannot day enough good things about this group. I am extremely appreciative of them and how they treated my puppy who is a member of our family. read more

So glad we made the decision to send our pup to DGA. We were really struggling with leash behavior and anxiety. We signed up for the 20 day board and train. While it was heart breaking to think we would be away from him that long, we knew he was in good hands. DGA would send multiple updates w/ pictures and videos every single day. We got to see our pup and hear about his progress. When he came home, they did a thorough training session for us humans in our home. Since then, my dog has become a great hiking/walking buddy, responds quickly to any command, and has less anxiety around strangers. We were so impressed that when we got our 2nd dog, we took him here as well. They do daily hikes, which is great for all his energy. I highly recommend this place to any dog owner that is looking for some support correcting bad habits. Or anyone looking for a way to give their dog some exercise and fun, in a well controlled and safe environment. Here are some of the update pictures they would send us of our boys. read more

Everyone with DGA is amazing. My dog was trained by Malaika in 2013 when we first got him and he has been the best four-legged friend I have ever had. He is a gentleman and I can take him anywhere. He still boards with her on occasion when I am out of town and he acts like a puppy when he sees all the gals. While gone I get daily updates on the hikes and when I get him back he is clean, shiny and worn out. I know they take great care of him because he is always happy to go and you can tell everyone working there is a dog person. I can't recommend Malaika and DGA enough. read more

I would highly recommend Doggone Amazing to anyone that loves their pet like family!! If you want your dog to be a very important part of your family and be able to go anywhere you go, then this is the training facility for you. I have been in the Veterinary field for over 40 years and have always recommended this trainer to clients. I have personally been training my dogs with DGA for over 15 years and have recently purchased a 6 month old puppy. I was told by the breeder that she had previous training. This was not a fact. I instantly got her signed up with DGA and have seen amazing improvement in less that 2 weeks! The facility is beautiful and spotless. All of the staff (especially Malaika) are not only professional and knowledgeable, they also have a true passion for what they do. My dog is my best friend and I have complete trust in the entire staff. If you want a happy dog then please check out DGA! read more

Superb experience with DGA and the owner, Malaika. We took our 4-year old dobie for the 10day advanced board and train just to tune up some foundational skills, etc. Not only did they provide an exceptional training experience but they were very accommodating with our pup's food requirements and they also sent us videos or pictures everyday! We plan on using them in the future for their day-treks and further training. read more

The support staff is fantastic - incredibly friendly both in person and in the daily updates they share when our dog has done extended stays. However, the owner (Malaika) has been incredibly rude and condescending on multiple occasions. The issue was never with our dogs behavior or conduct - it just seems that it's her natural disposition to purposefully go out of her way to be abrasive and difficult to deal with. It became persistent enough that we now go well out of our way to take our dog elsewhere. read more

Soooo Good! Thank you, DGA!! We brought Toby, our golden doodle for a ten day advanced board and train and it was worth every penny. Malaika and Mikaela worked very closely with Toby and they gave us frequent updates, sending photos from their walks and trainings... an important detail for those of you who'll miss your dogs. We even got an awesome pic of Toby in front of the Reno Arch. A special thank you to Mikaela who stopped by for a follow up at our house for pointers. Not just good at training Toby, but excellent at teaching us for all of the at-home training to follow. Mikaela is patient and kind and you could tell she's doing what she was meant to do. She clearly loves dogs and they love her back. Toby was so excited to see her and when she left, he lay next to the front door like he does when he's waiting for someone to come home. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dog Gone Amazing. Mailika and her crew are caring and experienced. Bella came back from the 10 day training program with new manners. What can my family say!?!? This place proves it's professionalism as a high quality training center! The entire staff is very thorough and showed care to our rescue dog Riley from the day we dropped him off to the end of the 10 Day Board & Train. Riley had high anxiety, and needed some direction and we are amazed upon his vast improvements. The owner and team know how to treat a dog and like their title, Riley came out "Amazing!" We have 2 Shiba Inus. Our 8 year old girl mysteriously got her face ripped into awhile back. We really don't think our 18 month pup did it, but we have an 18 month old daughter so we got professional training for peace of mind. Emma came to our house for (4) 1-hr training sessions. Our pups (and baby) loved when Emma would come over! She was able to provide so much insight into how we train and how some signals and cues could cause confusion for the pup. We have already scheduled a boarding for him at the end of the month and look forward to when they can have their next rendezvous as I think Emma loved our little guy too. Can't say enough good things. Also really appreciated being able to communicate via text-super convenient! read more

We have a 10 month old mini golden doodle that needed training, especially off leash and with recall. We searched all different training programs around town and landed on this one because of their good reviews. We were both timid to put our puppy that we love so much in any type of training where she had to be away from us for extended periods of time. We went to the evaluation and the team was amazing from the very start. We ended up choosing the 17 day board and train with specific goals for them to focus on. It was a big investment and we were aware that there's no guarantee when it comes to training a dog. The entire time Zoey was in her program we got several updates a day that included photos, tips about training, and how she was doing. The updates were always amazing and helped us get through the 17 days without her. We could not be happier with how Zoey behaves following this board and train program! Neither of us ever thought that she would be as well trained as she is and her recall is better than ever. The best part was how much she loved the team the trained her and was treated like a dog of their own. I can't put into words how amazing Dog Gone Amazing has been for our family. read more

Very unhappy that this place discriminates against elderly people. They at first said that they would train a puppy for an 85 year old woman. The girls at dog gone amazing are exactly as the name says, AMAZING! We took both of our dogs for the 10 day board and train and have taken them back whenever we have to leave town. I would highly recommend using them. read more

Dog Gone Amazing helped me train my two puppies. Malaika, is wonderful to work with and has an amazing facility and great staff. I have highly recommended Dog Gone Amazing to my friends. read more

I honestly thought my dogs reactivity was going to be a lost cause and I would have to avoid walks and going out with him. By the end of the first session I already gained so much hope that we'd have a good dog. Sally was an amazing trainer and it was fascinating watching her work with my dog and her knowledge about his behavior. She explained why he was acting the way he was and educated us on his behaviors, reactions and how to work with him, all while keeping it fun! Just in 4 lessons he is a much more relaxed, calm and happy dog and I can take him anywhere. She was so enjoyable to work with and truly worked a miracle! read more

I recently contacted DGA for training for my puppy. Besides being thrilled at the training progress my puppy showed from Mazzy and Mikaela, I get feeling the staff really cares about their dogs. I liked the fact the DGA is not chain, but a self owned business. Which promotes a feeling of being part of a community. A community in which I can bring my pup to DGA on a regular basis , he will see Mazzy and Mikaela , in which he has a relationship and play with the dogs he is familiar with. I also like daily 1 to 2 hour walks while boarding that includes videos and pictures. read more

We love this place! We brought our 100 pound, 1 year old English lab there for leash training. We chose the 10 day board and train and we are so happy with the results. We now use them for their Trek & Trains where they take your dog for the day and take them hiking with other dogs and continue to assist with training. When you pick up your tired dog, you also get a daily report card. I recommend them! read more

Malaika is as amazing as her business title. I was extremely uninformed about e-collar training before I met her and don't know what I was thinking when I decided to try a DIY approach. I lost my 2 German Wirehaired Pointers in the winter of 2008 near Verdi, NV. Both of my dogs were gone for 3 weeks. When I got them back I decided to give e-collars a try and bought one from Scheels after doing some light research. Once I brought it home I followed the product's instructions and my male, Loki seemed to accept it. Unfortunately 6 months later my dogs ran away again. Luckily it was only for an hour or so, but I was done with trying to train my dogs myself. I found Malaika through an internet search and made an appointment for her demo. After meeting with her and seeing her with her dog Chase I was ecstatic to start her lesson program. Malaika offers a communication link between you and your dog through the use of an e-collar that is always positive. The e-collar is never to be used as a punishment and my dog and I mutually understand that. Through Loki's trust that the e-collar is positive I am able to guide him with commands off the leash which makes Loki happy and free. Loki and I did the "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" option and I have not had a problem with him running away in the 6 months that Malaika has been working with us. Plus Malaika had the best price and offer/guarantee in the city! I love how Malaika worked with my dog and me in private lessons and then let us graduate to group lessons. When I go to group and Loki is not listening to me Malaika doesn't hesitate she takes Loki and helps us one-on-one again. Helping me learn to train my dog is her highest priority and I highly recommend her to all dog owners (looking for a trainer) who desire a well-behaved, respectful, trained and, above all else, happy dog! read more

I Couldn't say enough good things about this place! I love taking my dog to Dog Gone Amazing, and I feel my dog loves it as well! She is always so excited to go stay when we have to leave for vacation. All the trainers at dog gone amazing are wonderful and completely transformed my dog and I couldn't be happier! I think the best part about Dog Gone Amazing is the daily updates you receive on your furry best friend, it made the boarding/ board and train great especially when you're away from your dog. It gives you a piece of mind knowing that your dog is doing well and how happy they are while they are there! Thank you for all your hard work Dog Gone!! Can't wait to bring Bailey back! read more

Malaika and Dog Gone Amazing are just that.... amazing! She has helped me become a more confident dog owner by working with me and my dogs. She is so patient with the the two, and four-legged clients. There are group walks several times a week to attend. They are scheduled at different times during the days, so you can always find a few that meet your scheduling needs. It's fun to get outside, and go to areas I normally wouldn't even think of going to with a dog, let alone large groups of pups! She has helped me train my therapy dog and we are now going into the pediatric ward at the local hospital. We get numerous compliments on her behavior and manners... and it's all thanks to the training we've done with Malaika. We love Dog Gone Amazing! read more

We are so happy we found DGA! We had rescued our husky/shepard mix about a year and a half ago and she had some behaviors (leash pulling, no recall, dog reactivity) that we were looking to work on. Even after our first session, I was so happy with the progress we had made. Sally helped us understand the tools that we would be using and how to use them appropriately. After our four sessions, our pup can now enjoy off leash hikes and has a much better relationship with other dogs. We would recommend DGA and Sally for any sort of dog training! She was so awesome at making sure we were comfortable with all steps of the training processes and helped us understand our dog's behavior and how to work with them. Sally was full of recommendations for how we could practice the skills we learned in our everyday lives and personalized each visit based on how our dog quick our dog learned. Even after just 4 lessons, we have learned so much about our dog's behaviors, how to manage them, and are so much more comfortable with enjoying our favorite hobbies with our dog! read more

They are a bunch of scam artists. We ordered 1 set of 3 lessons and 2 booster packs. We went to the lessons and then during a booster pack we had to cancel due to a family emergency, "Don't worry you get 2". After that we had a snowstorm in which we were in white-out conditions. We called 17 minutes late because we were on a mountain and could not get there and had 0 reception. They do not even call me back they send me a canceled invoice saying I missed 2 appointments, no call no-shows, in my defense the first one I did call and, the second one I called late because I could not even get over the hill. When I contact them they are rude about it saying you missed 2 and heres our website for the policy....I did not sign up through their website , so what does that have to do with it? I would avoid this place at all costs they are just out for your money and have no care about you or your animals at all. read more

I have a 13 month old Goldendoodle who has been in training classes since she was 16 weeks old. We had been attending treat positive reinforcement only training classes which were very good, but she just needed a step beyond what we had been doing. A friend had attended a set of Dog Gone Amazing classes and had excellent results with his Australian Cattle dog. When I called, the person who answered was very helpful. I decided to sign up for the 4 lesson Advanced set of classes which included prong collar and ecollar training. My girl improved significantly within one day of using the prong collar. She no longer pulled and walking her has become a joy. She wasn't bad before, but did pull a bit. The ecollar training wasn't what I had expected. No one should use an ecollar unless they are specifically trained to do so. How it is used depends so much on the dog and the relationship between the dog and owner as well as the setting. Sally did an excellent job training both Gracie and me. She was encouraging and patient. I appreciated the one-on-one nature of the class. While it is a little more expensive then other obedience classes, receiving the prong collar and ecollar as part of the package as well as the four 1 hour one-on-one sessions made a big difference. Going through these courses doesn't mean you now have a perfectly trained dog. It takes practice, consistency and patience. Sally provided an excellent start. I plan on enrolling Gracie in their Trek and Train daycare program. I also feel as though I can sign up for some brush up courses in the future. I highly recommend Dog Gone Amazing. Just remember, it also depends a lot on you, the owner, the follow through. read more

We have taken our Chocolate lab there twice now for boarding and training (while boarding). The first time we were anxious as there was separation anxiety (on our part!) but she seemed to love it and the daily trip pictures helped. On our second stay/training she learned off leash walking and commands. I'm amazed, honestly - I've been working with her every day and she really was trained well, stays by me on the trails, comes when called. This is from a Lab who just looked at me when I said "come" before! I think they do an outstanding job, highly recommended. read more
