My dog really likes this place to hang out with her doggie friends. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I also like being able to get her nails trimmed before picking her up.

An absolutely caring place for daycare or boarding your pet. My 2 yo standard poodle loves going to daycare in fact, when he meets the staff outside of Animal Oasis (like at Barnes & Noble), he gets so excited at seeing them! His tail wags and wags. The staff is kind and patient. They completely work with the dogs to understand how they like to be treated. I am eternally grateful for the team at Animal Oasis for providing a loving place for my spoo while I'm at work.

Supper accommodating. Needed a good groomer for my 12 year old Yorkie. Animal Oasis was prompt to reply, great pricing, and even better grooming services! Super impressed and will absolutely be back! Can't recommend enough!

I'm thrilled with this place. I have a huge standard doodle and usually it takes 4 hours to groom her and they did it in 2.5. They also only charged me $100 and I'm coming from California so I'm used to paying close to $200 and I think for how complex a doodles coat is, that's an incredible price. The groomer, Kendra, was SO nice. Everyone was so nice. They also gave her the cutest bandana I've ever seen. I arrived quite late because I wasn't expecting she'd be done so fast and they were also really understanding. Great people and I'll absolutely be back.

We are took our sweet girl, Haifa, to Animal Oasis day care two times last week for new introductions and then boarded her this week Monday - Friday. The team at Animal Oasis is amazing, kind, loving, compassionate. When I reached out to see how she was doing early in the week, they responded immediately with a great update and details on how she was doing. We are so happy to have Animal Oasis and will definitely use the day care option and boarding again and again! Oh and we had her groomed the day we picked her up too, fantastic job to the groomers. She is so soft and fluffy! Thank you!!!

This place, the workers always seem miserable and you always have to wait outside. Meh, but they do a great job grooming!

Ask the Community - Animal Oasis

Would you accept a dog with anxiety issues due to past abuse for boarding?

Yes, we have cared for many pets that suffer from anxiety issues. Just like the rest of our guests a temperament test would have to be passed and vaccine requirements would have to be met.

Are you accepting dogs for boarding with a letter from the vet stating they are out of flu vaccines now?

No, we do not accept any pets without the required shot records. We do accept titers though for the vaccines that are able to be tested for. If you would like recommendations as to where to obtain the Canine Influenza Vaccine we are happy to point… Read more

Do you offer dog grooming trainings?

    No we do not

I have a 15 pound Aussie doodle that is fully vaccinated. I need to board my dog from 6/20-6/24. Do you have any space?

We would need to do a temperament test first

Our pup has anxiety and we are looking for daycare she isn't fixed yet can she go to day care?

How many dogs do you have in your shop at one time for grooming? Do you know how to groom a Welsh Terrier and have you ever groomed one.

Ranges day to day but typically no more than 2-3 dogs per groomer at one time. Our groomers have over ten years of experience with a variety of breeds and know how to do breed specific cuts.

I will be in Reno for just an afternoon & don't want to leave my pups at home, which is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. Do you accept drop in pets?

Yes as long as they meet our shot record requirements and you fill out a client application. We ask for any new dogs to our facility please arrive no later than 1:30pm to allow for proper temperament testing.

Do you take in 12 week old puppies daily to allow them to socialize?

We only take puppies that are fully vaccinated which is typically around 16 weeks of age.

Does Animal Oasis-South have a Veterans Discount and how much is it? Thank you.

Yes we do! We offer all active and retired military 10% off all services.

During the tour we discussed that our dog would be 7 months old during his stay (DOB Aug 19th 2025, making him 7 months old and 16 days at the start of the boarding on April 4th 2026). Their policy is that dogs over 7 months old must be fixed, so since we were right at that point, we wanted to see if he needed to be fixed. WE WERE TOLD HE DID NOT NEED TO BE FIXED DURING OUR TOUR WITH THE OWNER. Once he passed the evaluation, we made our reservation with the assistant manager and again confirmed that everything was acceptable with his age and intact state. AGAIN, WE WERE TOLD EVERYTHING WAS ACCEPTABLE AND ALLOWED TO MAKE THE RESERVATION. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANAGER HAD SIGNED OFF SINCE IT WAS ON THE CUSP OF THE AGE REQUIREMENT. After drop off, he was suddenly isolated for most of his stay with no communication via app, text, or phone, despite us opting into all alerts. We only discovered this by viewing the cameras. We saw him once on the camera, in a play pen, alone. No staff interacting with him, no dogs, nothing. He was pacing the side of the pen clearly upset. Heartbreaking. At pickup I asked what was going on with our dog. The manager replied that there were no issues. I asked again why he was separated and got the same answer. I asked a third time and pointed to the monitor in the lobby and asked why he was isolated and stated that he was clearly upset (at this point he was alone in a play pen pacing, which was currently on the monitors in the lobby). She looked at her computer and told me it was because he's not neutered and over the age requirement since he was over 8 months. I was in disbelief, especially since he was in fact 7 months old. We had checked and double checked that this would not be an issue and were reassured it would not be. After telling me there wasn't an issue, she then tried to say they were unaware of his age when they made the reservation, another blatant lie. The manager claimed our dog was over 8 months old and said they had to follow the "7-month rule" (even though he was) or they could get in "big trouble". I said this appeared to be an internal policy since other facilities had difference age requirements, including one in Spanish Springs which was 12 months. The manager then proceeded to tell me that that facility uses cattle prods on the dogs in their care, so good luck taking our dog there...the unprofessional nature of this manager was astounding. At this point I asked for partial refund since daycare (included in the boarding fee) was not provided. The manager said she had to call the owner. She came back and said that the owner said because he was over 8 months old it was our fault and we signed a waver. I expressed my displeasure with that response, and she said she'd go call again. The manager never came back and instead sent the assistant manager to collect the fee. I asked where the discount was and she said that I wasn't paying for daycare just boarding...? While I was paying the assistant manager kept saying they didn't isolate our dog and took great care of him. Ironically, during this discussion another staff member walked in and interjected herself into the conversation and said that we received a phone call when they decided to separate our dog (yet another lie). The assistant manager looked at the staff member and told her to stop talking. I tried to inquire about this supposed phone call and our dog being 'separated' and the assistant manager told me to be the bigger person and just leave. The treatment our dog received was unacceptable. The staff are unprofessional and dishonest. I strongly recommend going anywhere else. I wish I had taken the other negative reviews more seriously.

We checked out quite a few places and what set RWC apart is the emphasis on staff training and a carefully maintained staff-to-dog ratio. That means it does book up on busy weekdays and holidays, so reservations are required, which isn't as necessary at a lot of places. Our dog gets easily overwhelmed in new situations, and they've been brilliant at helping her cope and get enough downtime. We love that they have the treadmills, which helps our active dog calm down and focus. Their trainer Star introduced "wait" to her instead of "stay," and it's made a noticeable difference. We've had great chats (in person and by email) with Jodie, the RWC owner, and we love how committed she is to high standards and creating a healthy and safe environment for dogs. I'd say it's a bit pricier than some options, but RWC's commitment to fairly compensating and training their staff is a great thing to see in this industry and, of course, ultimately results in a better experience for the dogs as well.

The only thing that has ever been required sooner than most places was kennel cough, and flu which is completely understandable! SO THANK YOU CHRISTOPHER RAYNOR , for pulling out so my pups could go in on short notice, especially since my boys shots were up to date. On another note Mr. Raynor, don't go trash talking my family. The good - the female facilitator and the other gentleman were very sweet. They gave a great tour, and were always happy to take calls or answer questions. I think this place is great for folks who work on USA Parkway, or folks who are content with quick exchanges with no feedback. The bad - Unfortunately most of my drop offs consisted of dealing with Thomas, the owner. He made it clear pretty early on that he thought me and my dog had "anxiety issues". When I picked my dog up each day I liked to ask how her day was, as I'm genuinely interested (I love my dog lol) and it's nice to make small talk. Thomas took this interaction as me thinking my dog had a problem, and would make comments about my dog having some type of issue. He constantly rubbed me the wrong way, saying it was incorrect for me to say goodbye to my dog as it would increase her anxiety, and mentioning that I shouldn't call in to check on her. The final straw was today, Thomas had made a comment to my husband yesterday that my dog was "nippy" with him, and I wanted to talk to Thomas about it directly as I was genuinely concerned about my dog showing potential signs of aggression. Upon me asking him about it, he immediately let me know I should probably find another daycare, as I'm the owner he deals with that has the most issues or concerns. I tried to amicably let him know I'm only trying to get more information on the situation, but he kept insisting I go somewhere else since I'm not happy. This was a totally unprofessional way to speak to me, and as a paying customer I think it's well within my right to ask second level questions about my dog's behavior. I will be taking his advice, and going to a different daycare that doesn't view me as a problem customer for checking in on my dog or asking about her at pickup. 2 stars because they helped us out during days we needed dog care, and I'm appreciative for that!
