We've been taking our dog here for a couple months (day camp, enrichment, training, and boarding), and she loves coming here. We checked out quite a few places and what set RWC apart is the emphasis on staff training and a carefully maintained staff-to-dog ratio. That means it does book up on busy weekdays and holidays, so reservations are required, which isn't as necessary at a lot of places. Our dog gets easily overwhelmed in new situations, and they've been brilliant at helping her cope and get enough downtime. We love that they have the treadmills, which helps our active dog calm down and focus. Their trainer Star introduced "wait" to her instead of "stay," and it's made a noticeable difference. We've had great chats (in person and by email) with Jodie, the RWC owner, and we love how committed she is to high standards and creating a healthy and safe environment for dogs. I'd say it's a bit pricier than some options, but RWC's commitment to fairly compensating and training their staff is a great thing to see in this industry and, of course, ultimately results in a better experience for the dogs as well. read more

They're fantastic communicators and they clearly spend a lot of time training staff to meet high standards in caring for a wide range of dog personalities. I love Real World Canine! They take such great care of my Dino, and he loves when he gets to play with all his friends. My girlfriend recommended them to me after relocating here and I haven't used another spot since! Overnight boarding is a little pricier than I'm used to, but they do provide a lot of added services. Absolutely the best! The staff is wonderful. I have a 6yr. old yellow lab & she can't even make it out of the parking lot before she is sound asleep. Real World Canine and their team are the only people I trust to watch my dogs. Recently my dog got lost and they sent out their whole team to help us find her! The dedication and hard work they have provided for both of my pups, is really a blessing. Our first dog has extreme anxiety and was reactive to most people and other dogs. I am so happy I was directed to this daycare by another dog loving client. My dog Jack was going to another facility since a pup. The daycare quality went down and I had to stop using them. Jack missed dog play so I was so glad to have this option open up. The staff is great and staff to dog ratio is better than other places I tried. Jack is a shy rescue so it took 3 visits for him to adjust and not feel like he was abandoned. The staff helped him through this and now he can't wait to get to daycare. We found RWC last December when we needed to board our Aussie. We weren't really excited about boarding her; were actually hoping to find someone to watch her at our house. After interviewing several people we saw an ad for RWC and checked it out. Turns out it was amazing! Treadmills, swimming pools, indoor and outdoor play areas and most importantly Great staff!!! They have experienced trainers and all the employees are so great with the dogs. The boarding experience was great... We now bring our pup to doggy day care at least once a week and she loves it! I work from home and have a deaf, very large breed puppy who requires a lot of stimulation, exercise, and of course love and attention. Tofu is excited when we arrive at Real World Canine, and when we pick him up the trainers always give us a rundown of his day and tips on how we can improve as pet parents. They're a little more expensive (but not much) than other day cares we looked into... And worth every penny! Best of all, it's obvious the trainers are invested in the dogs' well being and like the dogs they work with. My boy gets to play with his dog friends and trainers, swim, and walk on a treadmill. The staff and owners have been so wonderful and helpful. I've had 2 occasions where I've needed either a rush day camp set up or unexpected boarding, and they have stepped up to help me. My dog, Ivy, just loves the people here. She rushes in to see and give hugs to everyone. She's a "yellow" dog that loves people, but other dogs not so much, and she's suffering from severe separation anxiety. I've recently had a family emergency and it's been a relief to me to know she's well cared for and I did not need to worry about her while dealing with the emergency. Just had a private training session and immediately booked a 2nd session. My Aussie and I progressed more in one hour than the last four years in other training situations. Susan K. demonstrated how to correct Casey's behavior, gave me a lesson in "dog talk", and had me practice correcting Casey. One hour--and I am more confident and Casey is incredibly more responsive. Finally, I understand how to communicate with my dog! Susan K. was professional and personable. She's an excellent communicator with both dogs and people. I've taken my pup to multiple day cares / boarding facilities in Reno and Real World Canine is the only one that sat down with me and discussed my goals for my dog and gave me a tour. They seem very transparent with their facility which is much appreciated when you're leaving a family member in their care. Every day I pick my boy up and they give me a run down of what he did, how he behaved, and tips on training and socialization. It really feels as if they care about each and every dog and owner! I must set the record straight on the owner's dishonest and defamatory reply to my review. FACT: My cockapoo was attacked by a Great Pyranees while under their care. This was not an interaction, it was an ATTACK. Their staff member told me that they had previous issues with this dog and volunteered information that this dog had been a yellow dog and was graduated to green. She clearly thought this information was relevant to my dog being attacked, otherwise why would she had said it? I was told that as my dog was coming through the gate to be put into the group the handler saw that the Pyranees was tracking my dog and she was unable to stop the dog quickly enough. My sweet little dog was injured within 15 minutes of being dropped off, the owner stated that she didn't charge me for the day. How magnanimous of her since we spent a good part of the day at the emergency vet. One of the "puncture" wounds was a 3" gash down to the muscle which required staples and stitches. I also have pictures. She stated that some of her customers are offended by my review. I wonder how they would feel if they had to go through the emotional stress of watching their sweet little pup go through such an ordeal? Stating that I was fully reimbursed for vet bills is a blatant LIE! The owner contacted me and offered to participate in the vet bills. I declined her offer because I did not feel that she was responsible since she wasn't even there! To state that this was a money making scheme on my part is inexcusable and defamatory, How dare she post such a slanderous lie! The owner said that I was banned for life from Real World Canine. What in the world makes her think I would ever entrust one of my fur babies to their care ever again? Unbelievable read more

My husband and I truly cannot say enough good things about Real World Canine. We have been taking our dog there for a little bit over a year and our experience has been absolutely incredible. From the staff to management to ownership everyone has been such a pleasure to work with. Recently while we were out of town our dog became sick and the owner, Angela, was quick to jump in and proactively take our dog to the vet!! We received daily detailed updates and communication about her condition - above and beyond to say the least. We consider our dog our first child and to always know that she is in such capable and kind hands both at doggy daycare as well as boarding (SO GLAD THEY BROUGHT THIS BACK!!!) provides such a piece of mind. The entire team is so flexible and always communicative and professionally while also being very friendly. This place is fantastic. My dog had previously been able to rule her roost and run free but this situation changed when I moved in with my sister and her dog, it did not go well as my girl played aggressively and her boy bit back. I am happy to say they now share space calmly and freely. I had to be trained also. It's not just the dog, it's the owner too and they take personal care in working with you. Everyone at RWC is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They continue to give attention to my dog's personality, and our home's collective needs. It ain't cheap but you get what you pay for. Love this place. Our first day, on the drive there, we found out a young relative died very suddenly. We were hysterical when we dropped our pup off. They were very kind and offered to keep him for the night. When we picked him up later that afternoon, they had a card for us signed by the whole staff. Very thoughtful. Of course that day our dog was confused because we were so upset. But since then, when we pull out the special "going to real world" leash, he is so excited he can't wait to get out the door! And after a full day there, he is sleepy the whole next day. Great care and exercise, and he comes home a very happy and tired dog. And we always get a report of who he played with (he's a little guy) and how his swimming was - often with videos too. Great place to get social time. read more

Susan and her trainers are fantastic at what they do! My dog was out of control when I first got her. She even bit my friend's leg! I was so upset and other trainers that I spoke with told me that, that's my dog's personality and she will always be like that. Well, that's BS because with the help of Susan and her team, my dog and my friend are now good buddies! I have control of my dog and know how to get her to behave. My 2 golden retrievers Tytan and Truckee, love Real World Canine. They are both therapy dogs and need a weekly break. Every Thursday I try to take them here. I pull up in the parking lot and they are trying to get on my lap to get out. The pool is a great benefit to my younger pup, who has hip dysplasia. The staff has been confident and kind when sharing my dogs experiences from the day. I always get a special tidbit about what they loved doing. My chocolate labrador has been going RWC for three years, plus. I have tried some other reputable facilities, but nothing so far can beat RWC. My dog feels like this is her second home. The staff greets her always with love, hugs, scratches and belly rubs, She swims in their indoor pool, has a blast outside in the play yard that has all sort of equipment for the dogs to jump up or climb up and crawl through. There is an awning that protects them from the hot sun. They can also freely roam into the facility which is air conditioned. That was very important to me during the fire season. The staff is specially trained on dog psychology and behavior and how to monitor the dogs. My dog always comes home happy and well exercised. She has been taught to have good "manners" with other dogs. i am not sure what more I can add except I think they are the greatest and I feel so fortunate to have found them!!!! read more

This place is absolutely amazing! My dog loves going here, he bursts from our car once the door is open and can hardly wait to get inside. The staff are patient with both dog and owner. The facility is immaculate. It is a very well-run business that cares for its' clients. My dog has been going here 1-2 x week since he was @ 3 months old. I have been taught how to train him and have had the trainers work with him on specific areas. I can honestly say that he is a well-mannered, excellent-listening dog thanks to the trainers (Zane and Aubrey) and I am confident in my handling skills. read more

Our Service Dog Karma goes to Real World Canine twice a week for "rewind" and play times. She absolutely LOVES this place and the trainers there. Before we even get to Real World, she knows where we're headed and starts whining and gets so excited. All of the trainers and staff there are wonderful with Karma and all of the other dogs there. Karma LOVES the pool and playing ball out in the new open area outside. When we pick her up in the evening, she's such a happy and tired dog after playing and exercising all day long. She has several "best" friends there and the staff there are always so accommodating. I always get a report on how Karma did that day and what she did. Susan and her group of trainers were a godsend. I adopted a 7 month old golden that was a runner. Every chance she got she was off. After a few months of training with RWC, she now heels and walks right at my side off leash!!! AND she loves RWC daycamp. She can't get enough of the indoor pool or treadmill.
