Really great trainers. We had them train our dog Bo, who was around 4 years old at this point and had aged into territorial and possessive behavior. As a large pit mix I'd rescued, these issues were super demoralizing and we were scared Bo would someday hurt someone, despite our constant vigilance. Plus his world had gotten super small because I couldn't trust taking him to the places we used to hang in public. Anyway, after the meet and greet we went with a moderate board and train program. And then it didn't start as smoothly as we all hoped. Not because of their team, Bo was just more aggressive and reactive than he'd displayed during the meet and greet. We fell in love with Vinnie the first time we met at the Nevada Humane Society. He was an adorable bulldog who was abandoned. He was a problem from day 1. Taking him for a walk was a struggle as no amount of coaxing would keep him from pulling. The biggest problem was that his fear of other dogs would have him acting defensively. This often led him to him pulling us to the ground. Taking him for a walk was an ongoing challenge to which we adapted and accepted. After 4 years of living amicably with our other older bulldog, Vinnie began to be aggressive towards him. We were on the verge of turning him over to the Humane Society and then we found Danielle, Brandon and their team. The fee for their services and the length of time Vinnie would be away caused us to be reluctant to book their services. A few phone conversations and emails led us to an evaluation appointment at their home and facility in Fernly. Brandon and Danielle spent more than hour explaining everything to us. They both exhibited the qualities we look for in any professional. They presented their background explained their program clearly and simply, and answered all our questions. We had conserns about their training tools but were reassured with Brandon's detailed explanation. They have a large air conditioned kennel with spacious cages, large fenced in yard bordering a large open space. The staff we met were friendly. They were absolutely clear that their residential training is all about building a foundation and that success is dependent on how well we do our job as dog owners. We then observed one of local classes they provide all around Reno/Sparks. The trainer at the class exhibited all of the same qualities we saw in the owners. The dogs in the class were incredibly well behaved. We then booked a 4 week board and train program. When we picked up Vinnie, his behavior had improved 1,000%. Abby, his superb trainer spent 3 hours with us explaining what they did and walking us through what we needed to be doing moving forward. Brandon came by our house about a week later and spent over an hour with us answering our questions and reinforcing the guidance from Abby. Upon taking him home, he has not exhibited any aggression towards our other dog and our walks are more controlled and pleasant. With board and train you are able to attend classes for up to a year. We are excited to attend our first class with Vinnie soon. We are so incredibly happy and thankful for the team at Stand Proud and all of the work and support they offer. It has been close to a year since we reached out to Stand Proud, and it was out of desperation. One of our dogs, Luna, (she was 11 months at the time) was aggressive toward our older lab, after 9 months of no issues. We did not know where to start or what to do, so I just started googling dog training in Reno. After looking at different places online and contacting a couple, we decided to go with Stand Proud. Luna went for board and train since we needed fast and effective results. She was originally scheduled for a 3 week say and after working with her and talking things over with us, she got bumped up to a 4 week stay. She did great when she was picked up and was on her best behavior, but then she got home and showed aggression toward our lab once again. We reached out to Stand Proud and told them what had happened and they sent a trainer to our home to help us get through the transition. Not only did Austin work with Luna, he also worked with our other dog so that they could live together and get along. He then worked with her and my parents dog, and even brought his dog for training with her. Training continued almost weekly for months after she was home to help her become her best self. Stand Proud training does not end when you pick up the dog, they keep working with the dog and you to continue the training, they even offer free group classes. Where do I start!? Casey and Brandon at Stand Proud K9 are awesome and I can safely say they helped transformed the quality of life of our entire family. We brought in our 9 month old pup Bear (supposedly a 50b Aussie mix who turned out to be a 90lb GSD/Malamute mix!) to Stand Proud to help us with a handful of concerns. 1) I am a big hiker/trail runner and I needed Bear to be reliable on trail when he is off leash. To come when called, to stand down when encountering others on trail, and to not chase exciting distractions like rabbits and squirrels. 2) My husband and step sons were not familiar with dogs and didn't understand dog dynamics and they, as well as Bear, needed some guidance and direction and 3) Bear is like all the males in my family - large, in charge, independent, a bit naughty, but fiercely loyal with a huge heart. Bear needed some rules and boundaries to make life smoother for us all. We enrolled in a 4 session private lesson package and boy are we glad we did. These four sessions changed our home life completely! Bear learned to stay, sit, and most importantly to "place". He began to understand who rules the roost so to speak and to obey commands. In return, Bear grew calm, at ease, confident, less skittish, less fearful, and much more comfortable in all circumstances. My little Stardust is an Australian Shepherd puppy. Her herding instinct is strong and she is also super sassy. She is smart and likes to test our limit. First, they are great trainers. I've only been to 2 sessions so far and my dogs behave so much better already! I have a Husky and a Heeler mix that are both 2 years old. After 2 sessions they now walk on a loose leash right next to me and are able to remain calm when other dogs bark at us on our walk. They've also learned "place" and "wait." Second, it's expensive but worth it. With my 2 dogs it was a total of $1300 (1st dog was 800ish and 2nd dog was half off). They let me make 3 monthly payments. You pay a set price to be their client but you can attend as many lessons as you want from then on. The first handful of lessons are 1-on-1 with the trainer(s) and then you graduate to group classes. Third, expect homework. Sure it's a dog training service but the dogs can only learn so much if the person isn't willing to teach. Be willing to practice and ready to change your ways. The trainers give you reference sheets for each lesson to study beforehand and refer to whenever. I'm so proud of my dogs! I can't wait for the group classes! read more

My family got a new puppy (Mastiff/Sheppard) and we knew he was going to be a handful due to his size so we researched trainers. I looked on Amazon and found several books that helped and in doing so I discovered that one of the authors was actually a local trainer! I called him and we began training. This was the BEST thing we could have done. Once training began, it was amazing. I can open my front door and Gus never bolts! He waits for his command before he will even step outside. He lays in his 'place' even when company comes and he gets excited to see them. I just wanted to tell you guys how great you have been for us and Roxy. She is an amazing dog and with your help she is a very well behaved Rottweiler that I can take anywhere! We signed both of our big dogs up for training, one a 9 month old lab puppy and the other a 3 year old Rot mix. We had specific items in mind that we were hoping the training with Katz would solve (specifically jumping, dog walking, and socializing). It does take commitment on our side (as owners) to take the time at home to continue the training in between the 1 on 1, but they tell you exactly what you need to do it and how to do it to obtain the best results.
