I have been taking both of my dogs to The Bark House for years, since maybe 2017? I have never had a problem with service nor care from Michelle, Thomas, or Krystal. They have all been very good to me and my boys. I have also always had their shots done, and was always prepared for that since they notify you by email in advance when their shots are expiring. They have extended my boys stays on short notice or were able to get them in on short notice as well. The only thing that has ever been required sooner than most places was kennel cough, and flu which is completely understandable! SO THANK YOU CHRISTOPHER RAYNOR , for pulling out so my pups could go in on short notice, especially since my boys shots were up to date. On another note Mr. Raynor, don't go trash talking my family. I consider The Bark House extended family since they have always taken care of my boys and have always notified me when my pups were due for their shots. I don't appreciate someone who trash talks my family when you sir, were not in compliance, and really dude...do you know that parvo can kill a dog? Again, The Bark House has always taken care of my boys, and if you give them enough heads up they will even bath them before you head in to taken them home! I recommend them to everyone and they are good supporters of military, police and I believe first responders as well. But being military and police, they have supported me and my boys since I discovered them! They are wonderful with my boys which always come home tired and happy from playing! I had been taking my Shiba Inu here for the past few months as this is a convenient location and my husband and I occasionally would need her to be watched for a workday here and there. The good - the female facilitator and the other gentleman were very sweet. They gave a great tour, and were always happy to take calls or answer questions. I think this place is great for folks who work on USA Parkway, or folks who are content with quick exchanges with no feedback. The bad - Unfortunately most of my drop offs consisted of dealing with Thomas, the owner. He made it clear pretty early on that he thought me and my dog had "anxiety issues". When I picked my dog up each day I liked to ask how her day was, as I'm genuinely interested (I love my dog lol) and it's nice to make small talk. Thomas took this interaction as me thinking my dog had a problem, and would make comments about my dog having some type of issue. He constantly rubbed me the wrong way, saying it was incorrect for me to say goodbye to my dog as it would increase her anxiety, and mentioning that I shouldn't call in to check on her. The final straw was today, Thomas had made a comment to my husband yesterday that my dog was "nippy" with him, and I wanted to talk to Thomas about it directly as I was genuinely concerned about my dog showing potential signs of aggression. Upon me asking him about it, he immediately let me know I should probably find another daycare, as I'm the owner he deals with that has the most issues or concerns. I tried to amicably let him know I'm only trying to get more information on the situation, but he kept insisting I go somewhere else since I'm not happy. This was a totally unprofessional way to speak to me, and as a paying customer I think it's well within my right to ask second level questions about my dog's behavior. I will be taking his advice, and going to a different daycare that doesn't view me as a problem customer for checking in on my dog or asking about her at pickup. 2 stars because they helped us out during days we needed dog care, and I'm appreciative for that! read more

We boarded our 2 dogs for 5 nights. When we picked up our dogs, Mia our 3 yr old was reverse sneezing really bad. We were told she does that when excited. She has never done that!! They then rushed us out as fast as they could. When we got home we knew something was wrong with Mia. She had zero energy and that reverse sneeze was horrible. The next day we called our vet and made an appointment for Mia. The vet on the phone said it's most likely Kennel Cough and we had to wait in our car until they cleared the area for Mia to come in. Kennel Cough is highly contagious. Dogs can get it even though they are vaccinated, which Mia is. After examining Mia the vet confirmed she had Kennel Cough and prescribed an antibiotic for her. She didn't start to get back to normal for six days. Finally she's back to being our Mia. Our other dog, Emma, was ok when we picked her up but started showing signs of Kennel Cough the day after pick up. We called the vet and got meds for Emma. Emma's illness was not as bad as Mia's so she recovered much quicker. The owners have a new puppy in the office area and everyone going in and out are exposed to whatever illness the puppy has. The owners even mentioned the humidifier in the office was for the puppy due to breathing issues. I'm guessing the puppy spread Kennel Cough throughout the whole facility. We tried contacting the owners but it kept going to voicemail. We left a message and have never heard from them. That's no way to run a business. I will never bring our dogs there again and will never recommend them to anyone. I'm actually surprised they have been in business for as long as they have been. If you cherish your pups find another place that actually cares. read more

I love The Bark House! Family owned been taking my son for over 9yrs and my good girl! Always treat them as if they were their own dogs! I wouldn't trust any other boarding place from Fallon to Reno! I will only board & take them for the day to play to the Bark House! They go the extra mile to bath them (my two always need one before I pick them up my son likes to lay on the turf ) it is an extra charge but worth it! Not everything is roses and rainbows. Michelle and Thomas don't care about people or how much of a headache they cause. We have used 2 kennels in town for the past 7 years, one that is more expensive but require the vet required amount of shots and then the Bark House as they are cheaper but have been a complete pain in the butt. I overlooked all of this for the past few years as I was saving money but now they have blown up a trip with my family so I want to warn others so they don't have the same thing happen to them! They have taken care of our dogs but are the most disorganized group of people who constantly create headaches concerning shot records. Kennel's in town require shots to be updated once a year for most shots and a couple have longer terms, they don't, they want all shots given twice a year. We hate pumping our pets full of medicine so when we get shots we take them here and then use the other location for the remaining 6 months. Over the past several years without fail it has been an issue and becomes a huge hassle with them requiring us to send proof of shots 2 - 3 time to them, every time. They always either loose our paperwork or already have it and still want us to resend it. In Sep/Oct this year I booked a stay and got my dogs their shots 2.5 months in advance with the clinic within their building, had them pull the records and instructed them to give every required shot needed just so we could avoid all of this. We get the shots and call this location every time to confirm the dogs are set and ready to go in advance only to get this response. They waited 2 months to call me today, 48 hours before we leave the state to tell me they don't have the paperwork from their own clinic for the shots so the dogs cannot come, we tried to get them in to another vet to retake the shot along with obtain something from their own vet they had at the clinic only to come up empty handed. It's CHRISTMAS and I handled all of this months in advance to make sure were good, Kennels are fully booked for at least 2 months in advance so I cannot change last min. My plans and expenses spent are not of concern or even a second thought to them nor could they even care. Their issue was the Parvo shot, multiple vets told us was a 3 year shot including their own vet they had in for their clinic, my dog had hers 1.5 years ago with another 1.5 years left before requiring it again. https://www.aaha.org/globalassets/02-guidelines/canine-vaccination/vaccination_recommendation_for_general_practice_table.pdf What these geniuses want is that shot given every year, 3 times the recommended amount from the vet. So they are causing a lot of grief over something completely unnecessary. The final results, they refused to accept my dogs and told us it was our problem we should have taken care of it, we replied to Michelle telling her, their vet said the same thing that they were still good, her reply "I don't care what the doctor said" Apparently they are smarter than the vets..... So we cannot even go see our family now for Christmas over an issue they caused, I will never book with them again, this operation is ran like a clown show! We will not be back. We wil just stay with On Command who are more expensive but its like a resort for dogs and a much nicer facility. We have had zero issues over the past few years from them. We even called them and they said the same thing, that shot is good till 2023 but were booked up, DON'T waste your time or money booking with these guys! read more

We used Bark House a year ago - July 2023- for day care for four dogs for quite a number of days. It went ok. We recently needed day care again - July 2024 - and there were issues every day. First day when we picked them up they handed me all 5 dogs at once - 3 large labs, a midsize dog and a small dog - over 300 lbs of dogs wanting to leave the facility ASAP and the dogs were dehydrated. The next two days I brought the dogs in and asked if they could please remind the dogs of the water and its location. One day I was told the "dogs refuse to drink" - I find that hard to believe that all 5 dogs refuse to drink. On the 3rd day when I picked them up they brought the small dog (20 lbs and who had a collar on) in a harness made for the 45 lb dog who bolted out of the harness and ran into the parking lot loose - the midsize dog came out with the harness for a 85 pound dog who did not have a collar on which means someone took her harness off without permission since she did not have a collar on and all dogs have to have a collar or a harness. I looked at the two men who brought them out like you do realize these harness's are not for these dogs - and they looked at me like it was my fault they put the dogs in the wrong harnesses. I think them putting the dogs in the wrong harnesses was on purpose. They couldn't care less that the small dog bolted because the harness was not his. The dogs were so dehydrated again. We brought gallons of water and bowls and let them drink before we left the parking lot. Both gallons of water gone very quickly! We made the decision NOT to bring the dogs back for another day! I cannot leave my dogs somewhere where they don't care if dogs get dehydrated or not. UPDATED AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: I was not the one cussing at your staff so please have your facts straight before you accuse someone of that. Additionally there is an issue with the water and dogs being dehydrated so you may want to find a solution to that major issue before something significant happens to someone's pet. read more

I stumbled on my place by pure accident you can say. I originally was looking into other place, but wasn't able to due to ridiculous "requirements" and non convenient drop off hours. But, I'm glad It didn't work out because I would've never found this place (thanks to Yelp of course). I've brought the child in a few times already. In the beginning I was told she was a wallflower (not a surprise), but after the 2nd day and so on, she was very eager to get in and play. I wasn't able to check out the facility until the 3rd time I took her there, the place is very big, well maintained, not super smelly, and very well organized. Prices are very reasonable and it's family run and owned (I believe). No kennels, suite style (rooms with glass doors), and for the most part indoors (they have this small outdoor enclosed portion). Small dogs and bigs are separated for the most part and drop off and pick up are within operating hours (though they are very accommodating). Considering I am a very OCD, attached, and a momzilla when it comes to my child, this place gives me the piece of mind that I want and need. Highly recommend and will most definitely be returning and using when I'm in the area. read more

Love them! My pup loves them too! Great for daycare! They are open 7 days a week and open early in the morning and stay open until 630 on most days. This is great for those of us with crazy, unpredictable schedules! They require all vaccines be current and that the bordatella vaccine is done twice a year, I love this! This is just an added level of protection for all of the dogs. Boarding your dogs here is more like a vacation for them. They don't do kennels, they have little suites with doors with windows. The dogs play all day while being boarded instead of sitting in a kennel! So great. Prices are so reasonable and they offer packages for day care. Added bonus, you may see a tiny little puppy that resembles a cotton ball running around in circles aimlessly each time you visit That's the owners dog, so cute! read more

My dog stayed here for a week and I will never take him here again! They are cheaper than On Command, and there's a reason for that. 3 HUGE issues: 1. They posted pics on their Facebook page and I saw my dog.....with a bark/shock collar on him! They didn't even ask me or inform me about it. 2. When I picked him up I asked the guy at the front about it and he told me it was because my dog was mounting other dogs. I told him my dog has never mounted a dog at the multiple dog parks we have taken him to numerous times. In fact, it's always other dogs trying to mount him. His response was a sarcastic "I must be lying then." Great customer service! 3. The first few days back my dog went to the bathroom in the house multiple times. He was crate trained and never did this before. This makes me believe he wasn't taken for walks and was forced to go in his boarding room. The first time I took my pup to this place he came home with a cough. It lasted about a week and I didn't really think much of it and thought maybe it was normal. I decided to take him again for two nights while I was out of town for a funeral. I came back to my dog caked in poop and a week later he's at the vet showing multiple wound marks on his elbow that the vet said would've been caused by too harsh of play with other dogs. The only time he's been around other dogs recently was at this boarding place. The vet also said the wound wouldn't have presented fully until a week after it had occurred. I'm not sure they're actually supervising the dogs they're supposed to be watching. read more

Lucas loves you. That is what I must say first! Lucas, my highly energetic collie mix mutt comes to play here weekly! We adopted Luca last March and his movement needs are more than we expected. As we bring Lucas to play here on a regular basis at, "The Bark House," they are very pleasant and happy to see my buddy. He is their Buddy too! I can tell by how they treat him and how he responds to them! I like that they send me reminders via email to update his vaccinations too. This is extremely helpful. Our dog, Pam, loves everyone at The Bark House about as much as she loves us. It's truly one of her favorite places to go. Both doggie daycare and boarding are executed with love and care. The dog enclosures for boarding are especially attractive, because they're made of glass. I think the amount of noise reduction the glass closures offer really puts dogs at ease. The dog pool is another great feature for summer days. Because Pam was a rescue, it took her more than a year to become socialized and trust new people and dogs. I have been contemplating on leaving this review but I realized people need to know that not every experience is a good one for the dog or the dog mom/dog dad. Before any dog parent decides to board their dog at the Bark House, especially if they are planning on more than 1 night, please take this review into consideration because all you have to go on are reviews, social media pictures and what the employees tell you. It has been a few weeks since my dog stayed at the Bark House. And I absolutely have regretted that decision every day since then. I also feel guilty for thinking it was a great place for my dog to stay. We have a small breed dog. I was told that the small dogs and big dogs have separate play areas and the dogs literally play all day. The dogs are fed based on the feeding schedule you give them when you fill out their form. They also take the dogs on regular potty breaks We boarded our dog at the Bark House for 5 nights/6 days. I asked if we can come back to visit our dog every couple of days and they said no. This surprised me and I should have listened to my inner voice at that very moment but I didn't. When we went to pick up our dog the female who checked out my dog was the Owner. She said he did well, that he was a good dog and that he loves to play and take naps. Before she left to get him she said he may be a bit messy. What she did not say was how messy or smelly he would be. Well when we got him of course he was excited to see us. But when we went outside to our car that's when we first noticed he had urine on both of his ears....like half of his ears were covered in urine. How does a dog have urine covering half of his ears unless he is living in it? So next we decide to take him to go for a quick walk and go potty in the parking lot before we hit the road and that's when we noticed our dog was not acting normal. His reaction to being outside was just out of the norm. It was hard to describe it but we knew something was not right. When we finally got home that's when we noticed that he was much skinnier than when we dropped him off and his eating schedule was way off. The day we got home he literally ate 3 times the amount of food we normally feed him in 1 day. The next day he ate 2 times the amount of food at both feedings. It took us 3 days to get him back on a normal feeding schedule. My poor baby was not only filthy but hungry. The fourth thing we noticed is that he would potty anywhere and everywhere. Our dog is trained to go potty outdoor but also go potty on pads indoor. He can also hold his potty for along time. He rarely ever has accidents. But the first 3 days we were home he was going potty everywhere and we had to literally retrain him. I believe they literally left him in a doggy room and never went for a walk or played with other dogs. I also believe they did not follow the feeding schedule on the intake form. The other thing is they never sent me pics or posted pics of him during his stay with them. So all the pics on social media are bogus. It's false interpretation of dogs being happy and playing. Again.... We have regretted our decision boarding him at the Bark House every day since then. We were totally misled by the 5 star reviews and photos of the facility thinking it was a great place for my dog to stay. Big red flags about the reviews is that none of the 5 star reviews are recent. Another is that they do not post anything daily or post live feeds. Please reconsider before boarding your dog. read more

The Bark House. Greatest care. We had our dog there for 10 days. Second time using their services. She was treated so well. The staff and management went above and beyond for her stay. They play with her and give special attention to her. We have used another place in town in the past, but we will only use the Bark house in the future. Our little 6 pound Pomeranian was so happy. We are in town visiting with our dog. We went out of our way to stop into the The Bark House after reading several glowing reviews and one bad one. Walked in to a clean smell and three little dogs behind the counter. So far, so good. The person who came out from the back seemed friendly enough. We explained that we were in town and were interested in daycare and were denied a tour because they don't give tours during holidays "because it's a mad house back there." Okay, fine. I get that. The worker then asked us if we were moving to the area and we said no and asked whether or not they took out-of-towners. He said yes. He gave us paperwork to fill out, and I asked if they had any photos to show us of the facility since we couldn't go back. "It's all online," he said. Why the hell would I fill out paperwork for my dog to go to this place if we can't see what it looks like and if the person behind the counter is not trying to sell us on this place? I'm standing right in front of you and you tell me to go online. Want an example of how to alienate people and lose customers? Well here it is. After speaking with Sandy the owner, I was informed that I must have Vet papers proving both of my dogs were up to date on their shots. I thought,"WOW, this is great. I checked and my dogs were due for shots. The following morning I waited in line at PetVet to get my girls up to date. It took approx. 2 hours, no problem, I wanted them safe even if it put me behind schedule. Now a week-end of watching my grand daughter play volleyball. We arrive, check-in at the Bark House, and go to the tournament. I was to pick up by 6:30 and be charged a half day. Not knowing Reno/Sparks, I got lost but still managed to make it by 6:33, after calling to let Sandy know I was lost. Upon arriving, Sandy led me to her office, sat me down and said she had a problem with my proof-of-shots paperwork. She proceeded to say that she called PetVet and they had never heard of me and the handwriting I filled out for her business looks the same as the PetVet paperwork. She didn't believe I had the shots done so I should take all of my money, dogs, leave and not return. WTF? Did she actually speak with the Vet who signed my papers or anyone from the Vet Dept., NO, just a clerk who answers the phone on the retail side. (Jeez, I thought I was more famous) What kind of investigative sleuthing is that to base her asking me to leave and say I was lying. And the hand writing? OMG, they look the same...well DUH! You get in line, get a form and enter the pertinent info. about you and your dogs. Exactly as Sandy had me perform upon my arrival to The Bark House. Of course they look the same, they were both written by me! When I calmed down after being grilled for 10 minutes, I was outraged to have my character slandered and accused of ill-intent. We traveled over thanksgiving and last minute needed a place to board our dog Oakley. We searched dog boarding in sparks and found the Google Virtual 360 tour of the Bark House. We were able to see the place before calling and booking. When we did call them they were extremely friendly and made the reservations super easy. My first interactions with The Bark house were lovely! I felt like this was a safe space for my 5 month old puppy to be during the day while I was at work. From the first day I started bringing her, I brought food for her to be fed throughout the day. I did not receive any initial push back to this request. I was told she absolutely could be fed but would need a 30 minute break after her meals to prevent a medical emergency. Last week, I arrived at The Bark House facility with a bag of food as usual. The member of staff-not sure if he is an employee or owner-seemed peeved that I was asking for her to be fed. He stated that "most dogs don't eat while they're here''. I understand this. It's an exciting place for our dogs to be and I have no doubts that some dogs truly disregard meals. But, I know my dog. She is a 5 month old retriever who has not once turned down a meal no matter what is going on around her. I decided that instead of arguing about this topic, I would try again today to bring her for daycare services and ask if I can come back at her feeding times to feed her. I envisioned this as me taking her to my vehicle, giving her the required "down time" and bringing her back in to continue her day. Mind you, this is incredibly inconvenient for myself as my intention for leaving her at a daycare is because I have a professional obligation. But, this is something I was willing to do to ensure my growing puppy gets her meals while also attempting to respect your business practices and regulations. Upon walking in for check in this morning, I reminded this same person about her meals and asked if I could come back to feed her. My question was answered with a simple "No." You would think a one word answer as a response to my question would not be an issue. But, it was. The amount of unprofessionalism and condescending air that accompanied that "no" was immeasurable. There was no explanation for his answer and not even an attempt at reassurance. At that moment this individual aggressively opened the door and gestured towards my dog and her leash. At this point I felt an overwhelming sense of discomfort and decided this was not at all a safe place for my animal. This interaction was terribly unprofessional and uncomfortable. I feel as if even though I have only used your services 3-4 times, I have undoubtedly wasted money and have no other reason to believe I was lied to about her being fed in previous times. As an animal owner it was a difficult decision to bring my puppy to a daycare where I can't always make sure she is safe but again, we do these things with the best intentions that our animals will be cared for at top tier levels. Unfortunately The Bark House has removed all hope of this ever being possible. Me and my dog love this place. I was a little hesitant at first to leave my dog at a daycare for my vacation but when I came back he didn't want to leave so I know this place is great. Almost a year later I love taking my dog here just for the day or for a few days when I'm out of town. The staff is really nice and helpful and the prices are affordable and worth the great service! read more

I was in town for the weekend and don't love the kennel where I live, so I decided to bring my girl to Reno and try out The Bark House. I'm always nervous about kennels because my dog typically hates them, comes home dirty, and has no voice from barking all weekend. :( But it seems she had a much better experience here! When I picked her up on Sunday she was excited but not "omg get me out of here" excited like she normally is, plus she remained clean all weekend, and has her voice, so she must have had a good time and gotten all the cuddles! read more

Just picked up our 2 puppies from the Bark House. They are happy and healthy and sleeping. Thank you to everyone for taking care of our 2 wonderful gregarious puppies. This is my fur baby's (bourbon) favorite doggie day care and boarding, not only do Thomas and staff take outstanding care of Bourbon, I always see photos of him dressed up in various costumes. We are new to the area & got a recommendation for The Bark House from a neighbor. We are so happy that we tried them. We have a blind, diabetic "special needs" little girl "Zoe" & they treat her so well, making sure she is looked after with care. I was nervous about taking her to a new place but can feel at ease knowing she's in good hands. Thank you everyone for taking such good care of Zoe. She found a new "2nd home" that she feels comfortable in & is able to socialize with the other dogs, something she hasn't done for awhile since she's been blind. Keep up the good work.
