I called to reserve a date for my dog to be boarded. They hardly answer their phone (had to keep calling back). When trying to book, the woman who answered said I had to fill out a form on their site. I did, answered all the questions, but it wouldn't proceed to the next page. We were in town dropping off our son to camp and we had to find a place for our husky mix. This place was so accommodating and affordable. Brandy was awesome in putting up with all my questions and constant calls to check up on my dog. Our dog came back clean (there's a grooming package) and exhausted. This was her first time to play with other dogs as most places won't take her as she is part Pitt Bull. Thanks to them my Luna had a good time and had a great play date! Here's my experience: I go on a 10 day trip and board my two dogs at A Doggies Dream. My big pup (she's a 10 year old golden-doodle but a puppy in spirit) has long hair and has been struggling with the heat, so I also arrange for her hair to be cut. When I drop them off, I request that her hair be cut sooner rather than later because of her problems with the heat (middle of august). They told me that they normally do the grooming a day before pickup so that the dogs are "fresh" when their owners come, but I insisted that my doggo's comfort for the 10 days was more important to me than her being "fresh" when I pick her up. Fast forward to Thursday, 8 days into my trip, when I call A Doggie's Dream to let them know that I'll be in on Monday morning to pick up my dogs, as I had a red eye into Reno and would swing by on my way home from the airport at around 9 am. I get there at 9:30 to find that neither of my dogs had been cut/ cleaned, which was annoying but not a huge deal at the moment. Here's my biggest problem, though, which connected it all together. When I got home, my dogs were both hungry (eating nearly two full servings of food when they hardly ever finish one serving per day) and extremely thirsty. The thirst could be written off from their excitement to be home, but another ginormous red flag was that the bed I left for my dogs to sleep on had 12-15 different pee stains across it. My dogs are very well potty-trained trained, they never pee on their bed, and haven't peed in my house since the early days of puppy training. I felt such a terrible feeling of guilt when I connected it all together. Maybe all dog boarding places are like this, but this place is a simple cage rental facility. They put your dog in a cage, then give them a bath on the day of pickup. The food must not be left with them in their cage, as the hunger showed, and bathroom breaks must be RARE. My dogs would have to left with no other choice for them to pee on their bed. And then to SLEEP IN THEIR PEE for an entire week. I still feel sick about it. I care deeply for my dogs, so I will never return here. read more

More like a doggies nightmare. Do not take your dog here. Within two hours of dropping my dog off, I get a call that he has a puncture wound from "friendly play". The only guy on duty wasn't even watching and couldn't tell us what happened. Turns out my dog needed 5 stitches! And they just put peroxide and Vaseline on the wound and weren't even going to get him medical attention. Oh and the worst part...they didn't even separate the dog that bit my dog from group play because he was a "regular". I got stuck with a 4 hour trip to the ER, a $400 bill, and having to find after hours last minute care for my dog. This place is a total scam. Do not take your dog here! These people said they would watch my wounded dog while I attended a doctor appointment. I was gone about an hour and a half. After I paid and gave a lage tip, they brought me my dog covered in blood all over his cone, face, and cast, with blood squirting from his tail ( the wound was his tail tip had to be amputated ). In a panic I grab my dog and took him to the vet, where he had to get the rest of the tail removed because all the blood was because he got to his stitches and ripped then out, it was another $400, on top of the initial $500. Later that day I had to call the owner..... yes, I had to call him although they had my information. He then took ABSOLUTELY NO accountability! He tried to tell me it was my falt because I "insisted " that my dog be in a big kennel, so he was put in the back, out of eyes view of staff. I then tied to explain that I told his staff that had to be careful if he goes into a small kennel he gets bad anxiety and drools excessively and to be carful to make sure that his cast on his tail didn't get wet. So the staff mad the decision to put him where they did. I would not trust this place....... also I have never got my money/tip back for that day, or a follow up call from the owner. I had a horrific experience involving my dog getting hurt. They couldn't explain why or how it happened, but they attributed it to when my dog was playing with other dogs. They have you sign some bs paperwork waiving their liability because of the open play concept. They did reimburse me the cost of the medicine, but I spent $300 on the whole ordeal taking him to the emergency vet and then a follow up visit at our regular vet. They should have reimbursed me for my dog's stay at their kennel. I still don't get why they wouldn't have someone watching the dogs. I paid $25 a day, the product you provided was to watch my dog. Considering they didn't know what happened to my dog, they didn't deliver on that product. The part that really irks me was the worker who brought my dog out to me. My dog had gunk all over his eye, and snout and an open wound on his eyelid. I asked what happened to him and he asked what I was talking about. He should have been fired for being so oblivious. Like I said, I had a talk with one of the owners. He paid for the cost of the medicine ($42), but that wasn't satisfactory. I would have rather have had my money ($125) back. He was also apologetic and reassuring that he would talk to the employee who brought my dog to me. It would have been nice for him to want to see the pics of my dog. Anyway, I can't take a gamble on my dog by going back there, and I will not be using services of any kennel that allows the dogs to play together. I posted the pic of my dog. I took it in their parking lot after picking my beagle up and wiping the gunk out of his eye. The wet looking fur is the residue from all the eye gunk that built up. The staff at A Dreamiest Dream has been amazing. I have a rescue pup in boarding there they have been so wonderful with him.

We have been coming here for years, but today was our last day! After paying for my dogs bath I waited for them to bring my dog to the front desk. A woman comes in clearly frazzled and tells me my dog got out. She said he pushed through his kennel and knocked through two doors to escape and the last thing she heard he was near the Burger King on Kietzke. I was so angry in that moment as this woman stood in front of me acting like I had this terrible dog, never once saying she was sorry or that someone was out looking for him. No, she stopped looking. Unbelievable! I have a 1.5 year old golden doodle by the way. He is still a puppy but not some mean unruly dog. My husband called the owner who took zero accountability. This guy said our dog has a history of biting his kennel. What?!! They have never told us that before and honestly, who cares. If you know a dog has a higher likelihood of getting out of a kennel, you take extra precautions or tell us beforehand you won't be able to see our dog. The whole conversation was pointless and it just left me feeling sick that these people didn't care that my dog was running the streets of downtown Reno. A kind women found our dog about 7 miles away and called it in. It's a miracle he wasn't hit by a car. The pads of his feet were completely worn off and bloody. He can barely walk. The bottom line is, things happen, people are human. I would still have been upset by this situation but would not be writing this review had the employees/owner acted even slightly concerned. Instead, they only came off as frustrated and annoyed that they had to deal with this occurrence. I'm not about "the cancel culture" but since no one took accountability let alone even apologized, there is a high likelihood that this kind of a thing will happen again. I've been going to this doggy day care for over a year now and the staff and establishment has been the best that I have ever experienced. My baby Milo (3 year old pittie) is obsessed with this place. When I provide them with a tin of Milo's food, he gets fed around noon, he gets to roam around all day, he gets to play in water and sand, and socialize with other dogs and humans. It's like a heaven for him! He comes home to me well played out and I appreciate that he gets all his energy out when he is there. The staff here is like Milo's family. They give him personal care and they even work with him when he is misbehaving or having anxiety drooling. They never yell or hit but are completely professional with the e-collar. They don't use it as a punishment but in fact as a training tool. Milo needed the e-collar for about a week and they trained him to listen to them and they did this all because they cared about Milo and their other dogs. They didn't charge me or say negative things about me or Milo. They were completely professional and caring at the same time. They give me an update at the end of the day of his play time each and every time I picked him up. You cannot buy that kind of personal care/attention anywhere else! Everyone there truly loves their job and the doggies that come through their door. That's just LOVE! As long as I live in Reno, this place will always have our business! read more

A follow up to my previous review: DD has been great for my puppers, she gets to run around and comes home, after an initial energy burst before getting in the car, completely exhausted. She does come home with some scratches but she has a huge amount of energy and plays rough, as the DD caretakers told me when I asked about them. They have previously talked about isolating dogs who are too aggressive so I think this rough play is just par for the course and would get intercepted if it got out of hand. BASED ON DAYCARE: I went here after having problems at Pet Play House. Pet Play House has more of an indoor atmosphere that seemed to cater more to small dogs. A Doggies Dream is much better suited for mid to larger dogs who need more of a dog park atmosphere. I found the workers here a million times more friendly and more knowledgeable that at PPH. Nicole is always there when I come to pick up, and she is helpful with giving dog information and telling you how your dog was. I always forget the names of the morning staff, but they are good too especially this one guy who gives my dog a long hug (separation anxiety) while I run out to go to work. You can really tell that a lot of the workers here love their jobs, want to get to know the dogs, and the humans. I mean the staff knew me here after 1 or 2 days. Good sign. They also have a free evaluation day for a dog's first time there for day care so that saves you almost $20 (I'm planning for awhile on doing doggy day care M-F so a free day helps me know if my dog is a good fit there). If you also buy the 20 day package, you do not have to use the days consecutively which is much better than at PPH where the 5 day package has to be used in a row. This place isn't as nice looking as PPH, but for the price, customer service, and dog experience it is great for daycare for my mid size 45 pound dog. I was raised with large dogs and it is funny how many dogs I see there at daycare are GSD with separation anxiety. Big babies!! GROOMING: I also am getting my dog groomed here (roughly $30-$35 because he is a long haired so slightly more than PetsMart but since I am a regular they are just giving me a day worth of day care included instead of the 4 hours). PetsMart will watch your dog the full day, but I think they are just kept in kennels or cages. It definitely pays here to be a regular and give referrals. BOARDING: I haven't boarded here. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it's no thrills boarding with large indoor kennels. The rates here for boarding are on par with the rest of the rates in Reno. If I had to board I think I actually would prefer PPH because you can have a "slumber party" where your dog is with other dogs 24/7 for $25 each day which I prefer instead of just being alone in a kennel. -1 for something that baffles me at ADD and at PPH. I don't know why they didn't try to enclose the parking lot so dogs won't run off. I have been referring this place to people I know who thinks it's crazy to have my dog in daycare M-F :) read more

My friend just moved to Nevada 3 months ago from the Bay area, and had to Kennel his dog for 3 days here at A Doggies dreams. Which was a total nightmare. After Super Bowl weekend he picked his dog Jake up and brought him home he was extremely sick. He had to get rushed into ER Vet. He had six IV's was there for day and a half. There were not sure he was gonna make it. My friend had to miss 3 days of work to take care of him and baby his Dog. All he would eat is yogurt! He went from 108lbs to 88lbs. The kennel he was at, got shut down for quarantine as a bunch of dogs all ended up at ER In all he is out of pocket $2350 and not including missing work. Jake is home now he ate dry food for 1st time in a week he is eating and taking alot of meds to get him threw the next few weeks. He will never Kennel this guy again, especially this place. We love Doggie's Dream and recommend it whenever we can. We took our beloved Honey, a shy and retiring 60-lb chow mix, to another boarding facility (wonderful place) for boarding and she was frightened and hid the entire time. Changed to Doggie's Dream and voila' - now it's "Mom, get out of the way, my buds are here!" She loves her "spa" days (Heather's wonderful) and does great when we have to board her - short and long stays. They are terrific with giving her her medication and understanding that she doesn't like to eat her regular food when she's away from home - we've learned to provide them with her favorite treats and that keeps her going (all of my dogs have been this way). I'm updating a 5 star rating I gave last year. Up until today, we liked coming here. We have 2 Pekingese dogs and would bring them here to be groomed. Grooming lady is always nice and does a good job. Now the bad part. We had an appointment to get the dogs groomed on Thursday and when we took them in, was told our appointments were canceled. They said they called us telling of the cancellation and I will assume they did. I don't hear phone lots of times as I'm hard of hearing, so I will let the cancellation slide. We came back in today and was met by groomer who was really nice like she always is. After explaining what we wanted done we were getting ready to leave when a woman (who I assume is the owner) comes out front and tried to get us to do only one dog today and one next week. Since we already came back a second time I told her I wanted them both done today. Then she told us both dogs would cost $55.00 each! When I rescheduled on Thursday we asked the lady at the desk the pricing and she told us $40 each so that is what I was expecting to pay. To be given a higher price after we came back was totally uncalled for. I told her to forget it and left. You would think since we were already quoted a price they were go ahead and do it for that. It appeared the groomer was willing to do it but the owner overruled her. I'm assuming they have more business than they can handle and felt losing me as a customer wouldn't hurt them. With that attitude they will lose many more in the future. I will not be back to this establishment again. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! If I could give negative stars I would. We took our Chesapeake dog here at least a dozen times. But the last time will defiantly be our last. She came home with flees!!! I contacted them once I found out what it was and they told me she could have got them anywhere. I told them I refuse to take her back and pay for it and they should make customers aware there's an out brake. They said they should but it was to late to do anything about it. This place is awesome! My husband and I live in Sonoma, we recently had to leave our home due to the fires in our area. We came up to Reno for a few days, our two large dogs who are not very nice stayed at a doggies dream while we stayed in a hotel that wouldn't allow dogs. The man working the night we arrived was very nice. I informed him that our dogs are not so nice and he said to bring them on in that it was ok. Buddy and Dino are thankful for having somewhere to sleep and rest. My husband and I are very very thankful as well. I will recommend this place to anyone. Staff is very nice and the place is clean. Well my dogs are still alive so that's great. Not sure how this place has decent reviews. I boarded my two dogs for a week during Christmas break and I knew it was a bad decision since the moment I asked to see where they would be staying and saw over 100 dogs shoved into a fenced area. I'm pretty sure that's against whatever safety regulations animal boarding is supposed to have. One of my dogs came out smelling disgusting and foaming at the mouth and my other dog looks like he hasn't been fed in a week. I will never be coming to this place again. Next time you think about having your dogs stay here ask to see the cages they will stay in and the play pen they get to stay in, you will leave immediately. Our dear dog, Brodie, never fully recovered from being so neglected and not taken care of properly. HIs health deteriated rapidly after staying at Doggie's Dream. It was a very rough 6 months and we had to put him down 5/29/13. I hate this place and hope to hell they go out of business and lose their license. Side note: We took our other dog to a much better kennel and they told me that a lady had left her dog at Doggie's Dream and told them to watch her dog because he climbs fences. Well, they didn't and the dog did climb over the chain link fence. They called her and she left her birthday dinner to go chase her dog down. I should give it two stars as both my dogs were alive on our return. And we left them twice which should warrant another star but I can't do it. After the first trip of a four-day stay one of our dogs came home with kennel cough, which I know is really bad this year. It went away after a week and our vet saying it's like the flu, sometimes it's a different strain and the shots don't work. So we dropped them off again for a five-day stay - again came home alive but they both were filthy and smelled like urine. Also had to toss the dog beds as they too smelled like urine and were disgusting and I didn't want them in the car. Tossed them in the dumpster out front. ABUSE ALERT ABUSE ALERT!!! do not take your dog's here!! they will come back with scratches, Scars, puncture wounds that they did not have prior to going to this horrible excuse for a boarding facility. My dog was covered in feces and smelled disgusting. I Was taking my dog there every single weekend and would leave him overnight so that he could socialize with the other dogs. I started noticing a pattern, at first I thought they're playing rough it's just the other dogs. But then I took him there one weekend, went in the back with him, I noticed that there wasn't very many dogs back there. our plans fell through for the weekend so we decided to go and get him back a couple hours later! when we went to pick him up he had red scratches behind his ears and on his neck like someone was trying to choke him! you can tell the difference between an animal scratch and fingernail scratches from a human, and I'm damn positive it was from the people that worked at Doggies Dream!! needless to say he was scared shaking and nervous when I picked him up he peed all over the floor! he's never done that before. I felt horrible, like a bad parent. So I concluded that he was being abused and I never took him back, he's never once had any marks on his body like that since and he socializes with dogs bigger than him everyday. so if I were you, and you love your dog like you love your child, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT take them to a doggies dream. Pros: Location. Very close to the airport and the hotels/casinos. Price. My dog did not have any scratches, marks, etc. My dog was safe. Cons: My dog came out smelling very badly. You know that "dog" smell pets get? Well, she did not go in smelling like that, but she came out pretty "stinky." Her bed did, too. My dog was VERY anxious after I picked her up. She went straight to the door and would not stop crying even when we got into the car. She was a bit shaky. I don't know what went on in there, but it didn't seem she liked it. Another thing, this is not related to the care of the dog, but rather the customer service. The girls in the reception area were very nice, friendly, and polite. The girl who brought my dog out did not very much care for her appearance. It seemed as if she rolled right out of bed and went straight to work. She was dressed in mismatched baggy sweats, had her hair up in a super messy bun. I only bring this up because as a paying customer, it's offending to see that someone is providing a service and does not care one bit how they present themselves to others/customer. I understand that the employees are working with dogs throughout the day. But maybe some khakis? jeans? Hair brushed?? read more

Don't board your pets here. Took my dog in for three nights. When we picked her up she was super sick. My dog has all of her vaccinations so I'm not sure what she got. She was sick for almost a week after we picked her up. She had the runs and slept almost all day. Her eyes were full of sludge and she did not want anything to do with us. We had to give her antibiotics and had to hand feed her the first few days. I will never take her back to this place. read more

What a great place for your pets. We had a family emergency and had to quickly find flights to the east coast over the holidays, and entrusted our beloved dogs to A Doggie's Dream folks. They took superb care of them, and even gave us a ride to the airport. The groomer here does beautiful work. We have shibas, and they were shedding heavily. She did a fine job of bathing and removing the loose hair. That is not such an easy task with shibas. This is a top notch facility, with very caring owners, and good quality staff. I heard they won the 2009 Best of Reno Award in their category. Doesn't surprise me at all. read more

It's with a heavy heart that I say I am going to try a new grooming place next time I need to take my dog in. The first visit was wonderful. I loved it. Unfortunatley I have not had the same experience since and havent even seen the same employees since. I think it's going downhill and I dont think my dog likes it thier. The employees have changed and right now they appear to be hiring anyone who walks off the street. A few months back I took my dog in and the man who took him (covered in tattoos with piercings) grabbed his leash and basically pulled him away from me. He didnt talk to the dog or myself when he took him. The front desk staff wasnt very patient with me when I tried to describe how long I wanted my dogs hair and they cut him way to short. This last time I took him in it was worse! I didnt recognize ANY of the staff members. In addition to tattoo man they have another lady working there who is also covered in tattoos and has piercings. This time when I talked into the groomers with my dog he immediatley (my dog) turned around and tried to get out of the door which was odd.....then when the lady came to take my dog he sat down and didnt want to go with her. I took these as a sign that perhaps they dont treat him very well. This last visit took nearly 5 hours which was way too long. The lady on the phone was not very nice at all telling me my dog was ready and they close at 6:00 but if I hurry I can get him past 6:00 (they had taken much longer than anticipated and i wasnt able to leave work right away to get him). When I hung up the phone I had such a bad feeling that I left work anyways and picked him up. Once again they were not very plesant upon my arrival and asked me if I want to leave a tip for the groomer which I found very tacky. (Don't people know you should leave a tip? Why do you have to ask? Waitresses dont come up to the table and say "are you going to leave me a tip".) - Anyways my dog came out and the whole way home he wouldnt stop panting from thirst so I have to wonder if they gave him water. I'll be checking out another groomer next time. I have noticed the reviews on A Doggies Dream have been going down so maybe in the future they will be back up and we can return. read more

Tried to get my Dog groomed twice in a 2 week period they canceled on me last minute due to their groomer having and emergency then again a week later called me an hour before he was due in and asked if I can bring him in earlier I said sorry I can't she said well we try to get everyone in by 9am because no one is showing for appt. when I said I couldn't she acted like she couldn't help me. It's really inconvenient when you make an appt at a scheduled time and they continue to cancel for stupid reasons. I will never go back!!! This also has happen before I've left my dog there to get groomed and they called me 2 hours later to apologize because their groomer never showed up for work so I pick up my dog 2hours later and he wasn't event washed. Dogs are abused!!! Do not come here!! I worked here for 2 days and the entire 10 hours I was there, not a single dog was fed. Dogs get pulled viciously by their necks with leashes. And ALL dogs are shoved into 2 different cages and separated by large and small. All employees call it "play time". The large dog cage had nothing in it but small buckets of water. All of the dogs would bite each other/hump each other. The little dog cage had a baby slide in it and very little water. The dogs would use the bathroom in he cage and step in it/roll around in it. We toured the place first, just to get a feel for it and talked with the staff. The next day we dropped off our "kid". She went right with the gal without a backwards glance. We picked her up later and she was so excited. The gentleman said she was shy at first but settled in. Another gal said she did well. She must of had fun cause she worked up an appetite and is sound asleep. When we take her in tomorrow we shall see how she reacts, but so far so good. read more

My pup is well-behaved and happy. I sent him to puppycare at 6 months so that he could play all day while I am at work. It was great picking him up exhausted and content. He loved this place: the staff was always friendly and happy to see him; they remembered his name; and, if time permitted, they would tell me of his escapades during the day when I picked him up. My impression is that owners and staff genuinely care for dogs and I trust them unreservedly with something very valuable to me. read more
