I sent the boyfriend to drop the dog at the groomer (a risky business if you've seen the tiktok, you know). Luckily, Rachel was a pro! Rachel grooms within Canine Designs with her family owned company Nevada Natural Dogs. We said we wanted Fig's teddy bear qualities accentuated and Rachel did an AMAZING JOB. The process was quick. Two hours in and out. No puppy sitting sadly in a cage for 4 hours with a bunch of strangers before getting seen. Prices were extremely reasonable. Most importantly, my sweet girl is all blown and out and trimmed in a cute way. Finding a new groomer in a new city is scary. Rachel made it easy! read more

Highly recommend! I had a sudden need for dog grooming (long story!) and my usual groomer could not fit my dog in for weeks. Absolutely love it here and Melinda's work! She always makes sure my dog is comfortable since he's scared of the floor. It's easy to book and get an appointment in a timely manner and finishes within an hour or so. She will give me a 30 min when my dog is ready for pick up. Fairly priced and look at these holiday complementary pics!!!! read more

I have gone to many, many groomers in my life with my doodle and I've been disappointed over and over again. I found canine design in midtown and started seeing Rachel and it honestly changed my dogs life! Previous groomers have bruised him, burned him, cut him, left him with bleeding nails. I was at a low point trying to find a new groomer and even bought a grooming set to try to groom him myself. Rachel always does a great job. Ollie, my doodle, always leaves happy and healthy. I'm always told that he does a good job in the salon so it gives me peace knowing he is comfortable. Rachel always gets me in quickly, and grooms very fast. Ollie is usually done within a couple of hours and she texts me in time to go pick him up. I will go here for the rest of my time in Reno as long as Rachel is there! read more

I go to Rachel H. who is in charge of Nevada Natural Dogs inside Canine Design Midtown. Rachel does an amazing job taking care of my pup and you can tell she cares about her clients. I've gone to Rachel twice now and I don't anticipate going elsewhere. When my pup got sick and we had to cancel our visit last minute, Rachel was kind enough to waive part of the cancellation fee. I was also happy she has experience with coton de tulears, as their coat can be difficult to work with. She does a great job making my pup look like an actual teddy bear. read more

This place is amazing!!! My dog sometimes can be shy with new people. When I got to the place the owner Melinda greeted me and my dog vary warmly. I explained if I could possibly hold my dog well we cut her nails and did glands she had no issues with this which was awesome. This was essential for me. The overall experience for me was great and my dog. I will be going back in the future and will only go to this groomer in Reno. Best of all she was able to fit me in after calling same day. I've been taking my fur babies here (Kingston and Kyzer) for almost two years and have had an amazing experience. All of the staff are so friendly and the environment is very clean. Melinda has groomed both Kingston and Kyzer and she does an incredible job. I'm always in love with their haircuts! Super easy to schedule with Melinda and I've always been able to get an appointment. Kingston and Kyzer are quite particular and they absolutely love coming here. Rachel did an amazing job on my 6mo Labradoodle. I asked for a teddy bear cut and that's exactly what I got. My puppy is pretty rambunctious but she was able to give her a full groom for her first time - I was very impressed and will return! Canine Design is my favorite groomer in town! This place is located in the Panda 1 shopping center, same shopping center as Tokyo Sushi. I always go to Amber, who does an amazing job with my large golden, Benji. Benji does NOT like baths, despite being a water dog and loving swimming. Amber is very patient and does a thorough job with him each time, and even trims his hair on his paws, genital area, and cleans his ears and slight matting behind his ears! I will always go to her, because I have not been anywhere else as great as this place. The prices are amazing also! It is a great deal for all that they do. Amber is usually booked out a couple weeks, so make your appointment in advance! I always have a wonderful experience here and love seeing my Benji nice and clean! read more

We have been taking our pup Theo to Rachel at Nevada Natural Dogs, located inside Canine Design, since the fall of 2020. He comes home smelling amazing and his coat is always so soft! Not only that, I can tell she's super patient and kind with all her doggy clients. Theo used to be so nervous about baths and nail trimming and she has worked with him so well to calm his anxiety. Amazing. Fast, friendly,affordable! No matter who the groomer is, my little Shih Tzu always looks amazing. It never takes them more than hour and a half to groom him. They also send you a text 20 minutes before your dog is ready. Absolutely beat groomers in town. read more

So my dogs hair was in desperate need of a groom considering my summer chop jobs to get them by...both dogs. Amber did a GREAT job. My husband dropped them off and he was pleased with the staff and Amber was very nice. He loved the set up and design of the shop and I completely agree. When I arrived to pick the dogs up, 2 hours for both dogs, which I feel like was appropriate timing, I was pleased with the atmosphere. Very well kept and love the decor. The women working were all very nice. And my dogs look and smell fantastic! I would definitely recommend them! They also have parking for drop off and pick up which is so convenient! I also love the no pee and poop zone signs in the parking lot. Overall a great experience and my dogs were happy campers! read more

I've been taking my two dogs to Canine Design for about six years, and the service and care are excellent. Prior to this, I took my dogs to one of the "big box" pet stores for grooming and had a couple of bad experiences - nails trimmed too close and nicks to the skin, which left my dogs scared. I'm so glad we found Mindy at Canine Design. The service is personal, and I completely trust her with my pups. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. I cannot believe the owner of this establishment and get complete lack of customers service skills. My husband made our appointment with a groomer named Rachel using her personal phone number he received from a client of his about a month ago. Our appointment was 4/10. On 4/8 we found our boy had Prostate Cancer which was heartbreaking news. Wet kept his appointment because he always had a little extra swagger after getting a hair cut. When I arrived - I was late, I had never been there Google maps took me through Wells and it held us up, I immediately apologized to the woman checking us in who said "you've just pushed our whole day back but it's whatever." Not something I'd ever say to a customer but I let go - I was late. I told her about his very recent diagnosis and she explained they would not groom a dog with any illness so I said we would cancel his appointment. This women who was not the groomer, not the woman my husband had been corresponding with you me she'd have to charge me for the appointment because I wasted their time. Again- as someone who's worked a customer centered job for YEARS I would've never done that to someone who just found out their dog had cancer, so I wrote them a review on Google to explain my experience. The owner met my review with a response that not only referenced am entirely different situation but blamed me for being dishonest stating I knew of his cancer at the time of his appointment (which is completely false) she also stated that she has phone records of my appointment time which is interesting because we made our appointment directly through the groomers PERSONAL cell phone. Further, when faced with the fact that she responded so rudely about the wrong situation instead of taking a beat and doing the right thing and apologizing she's continued to berate me on Google. I will never support a business who treats customers this way. I will tell everyone I meet about this experience and hope that the owner makes some serious changes to the way she treats people. read more

Excellent facility!! Beautiful and clean area for the dogs. Very friendly staff that answers the phone! Pup needed a nail trim and I brought him down. The lady used the grinder and didn't charge me because he didn't really need it. She showed me what it would look like when he needs it and say on the floor with pup to make him feel more comfortable. Will 100% come back for other services! Love this place that is easy located in midtown! read more

I have been taking my sweet dog Camo here for three years! This is the best place in Reno/Sparks! I use to take him to a chain and it would take them 4-6 hours and when I picked him up he smelled really bad. He was also scared every time we went. But, when Camo started coming here he was not scared anymore! They take such great care of him! When I pick him up he smells great and always looks so handsome! I have never had a bad experience. I have been to several dog groomers in Reno-Sparks area and I must say that I'm very impressed with the way my dogs get treated here at Canine Design. Every time I go to drop my dogs off everyone is very nice and the place is always clean. My last groomer would never let you see past the reception desk so I had no idea what condition the bathtub and grooming tools were like. It's not that way here. When you walk in you can see right away other dogs being groomed, The other dogs always seem to be just as happy and when I pick my babies up they always feel so soft and look beautiful. Their cuts are just the way I have asked them to do. I have Scotties and a lot of groomers just don't know how to do good Scottie cut. I also like the way they let you know when you can plan on picking your dog up so the poor dogs do not just hang out in a crate all day. The prices are comparable to other grooming salons in our area. If you need a dog groomer I highly recommend giving Canine Design a try. read more

Absolutely in love! We took our 9 month old schnauzer/terrier mutt here for his first haircut and we couldn't be happier with how Benji was treated from the moment we walked in to when we picked him up. He looked even more handsome, smelled devine and was a calm and happy. At first I was scared to take him to a groomer based on stories friends had told me about their experiences at other places. We're new to owning to dog that needs grooming outside the normal ear, nails, bath and teeth so we obviously had questions which the staff were happy to answer without judgement. I wanted to try a different groomer since we usually go to Petsmart, but wanted to help support a local business. I found this place on Yelp and through the reviews I made the decision to message Melinda the owner. She had me call the next day and quoted me $50 to groom my 20lb pup. That includes EVERYTHING, bath, haircut, nails, ears (if needed), and squeezing anal glands. All I had to bring was either a copy or a photo of the vaccine certificate. Only healthy pups! She was able to get us an appointment later that week on Saturday. When you drive there just know it's set in off the main road in a small strip mall. The shop is cute and personable. You can see all the dogs there is no back room to hide the dogs. Her and her staff were already busy busy busy with other pup clients by the time we got there Saturday morning. Melinda stopped what she was doing and greeted us making me feel comfortable with leaving my pup there. She gave him a once over and asked how short and what it was that I wanted his cut to be like. She scooped him up and brought him to the kennels to wait his turn and told me to be back in two hours. When we returned she had our little guy on the table doing finishing touches. He looked amazing I barely recognized him! I felt at ease leaving him there know Melinda is also a dog owner herself and you can tell loves what she does. We will be going here from now on. Melinda, formerly the owner of Doggie Doo's purchased Canine Design in September 2012. Melinda has been doing business as Doggie Doo's by Melinda since August of 2003. First in Las Vegas and then in Reno when I relocated with my family due to my husbands employment. The best decision we've ever made.

I was the previous owner of Doggie Doo's by Melinda. I purchased Canine Design in 2012 and kept the name. Canine Design offers the same great friendly service and high quality professional grooming that was offered at Doggie Doo's for 12 years. At Canine Design we are open 4 days a week to service our clients. I work the first Tuesday of every month on an as needed basis.

When we picked her up after her being there for three hours or more ( every visit the same amount of time ) we just wanted to get them home. With her we noticed immediately her " beautiful fan tail " was no more. Her hind leg had been shaved to the bone. The shaver got away from one of their employees and that employee was not honest enough to report it. And if it was reported to his or her employer when we picked up our precious dog the incident was ignored and she was handed over to us like nothing ever happened. Now, a few months later she still has the large bald spot on the back of her hind leg where no hair has grown.. Her tail is completely butchered it hasn't grown out to its " beautiful fan wave" for a Collie after all this time. " I cant imagine what she was put through" being there! Our two year old male dog the most loving ever had his face completely missed his beard went over his lip. I trimmed it myself. I'm grateful our male dog hadn't gone through the trauma our precious female had gone through. I personally feel that someone there ( management) should be taking responsibility by checking while dogs are being groomed by ( newbies ) or any employee in any manner. I feel my female dog was left with a newbie and was not given the attention to this employee that he or she needed with managing. My daughter and I were under the impression that the woman that met us outside( same woman that groomed twice before ) asked how we'd like their grooming taken care of would be the one attending to both our dogs we trusted her grooming since she had done both our dogs twice before and we were happy with their outcome We had made recommendations to friends about Animal Oasis.We put our trust in the woman who greeted us who seemed interested in our concerns towards their grooming. This business failed my dogs and us. We should have looked at the grooming before paying the $100.00 per dog and not given the tips. I've never had to write up a complaint I waited hoping my female dog would grow her beautiful hair back to its original shape " Not" ! The Animal Oasis deserves this complaint. If you go to Animal Oasis after my complaint ask questions like who will be attending fully to my animal and look carefully after the work has been completed to your satisfaction before tipping. Get names, your dog is part of your loving family and should be treated like so.

I was so nervous trying to find a groomer for my new Labradoodle, Boomer... I have never had a dog that needs grooming before and with all the horror stories out there, I was terrified to leave my sweet pup with anyone. After coming on here and reading the glowing reviews, I figured anything that had 5 stars on yelp (unheard of) must be a great place! I called and spoke to Melinda and she took so much time to talk through all my concerns and questions even though I'm sure she was busy. The day of Boomer's first groom I dropped him off and all the ladies just loved on him and he had a great goofy smile on his face. Just a short couple hours later, I got a call that my boy was ready to go and that great goofy smile was still on his face ~ that I could now see without his shaggy fringe obscuring it. He is always happy to go back and I am always thrilled with my handsome boy after they work their magic on him! Thanks for being awesome! read more

So sorry you have to clients that will lie and then turn try to turn the tables. That's not very "Top Notch" in my opinion. Canine Design will always be our groomer as long as you're around. The darn Groomers in any town. Melinda, Casey, Rachel have each groomed my dogs and I can't think of a better place to take them for their care. The customer service is the best, friendly, and caring. Anyone that says different has never been there. We love Canine Design and will always go back and no where else. read more

I dropped her off, ran around town for about 4 hours, and I swear my baby had never looked so pretty. She seriously looked like she was getting ready for an Instagram photo shoot, which of course I did lol. Price for what I got was great. I definitely recommend these guys, and Carolyn is my pups new best friend. I'll definitely be coming back.

He won't stay still, thrashes around and gets very loud/growly when his paws and butt are touched. Ellie has done an amazing job with him!! She's been so patient with him, especially since he was described as being one of her most difficult grooms ever. Ellie has always been very communicative about any issues that came up during the grooming, all while being very kind and not at all judgmental. I cannot recommend this salon enough, especially Ellie if you want someone you can trust to take care of your difficult dog.
