DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! This had been our place of choice to get our pets groomed for years, with in the last year and a half it's been awful. My pets are always coming home cut by the blades or with a completely different hair cut than what was asked for, random long pieces of hair. I thought maybe a one time thing but no, this is the 3rd time mine and my sister poodles come home with blade burns and cuts. I can only image how the pets are treated while there, I don't mind paying $120 plus tip for pet to be in good hands and well taken care of but this place has change their groomer or owner because it's the WORST!! read more

If I could give a zero star review I would! I have a 8 lb Toy Aussie and after I picked him up I noticed that they left a clump of hair on his tail and I asked them to please shave it off. As the guy was taking him back to the room, he dropped my dog on the floor! He seems to be ok but I will be keeping an eye on him to make sure that there isn't any injury to his little body. My little guy is over 10 years old and this may or could have caused serious damage. I do not recommend this business to take care of your most precious pet! read more

When you walk in, they have a 3x5 card, handwritten, the exact history of your dog, accurate, the groomers notes, the right shave,. There are no computers. They do not accept credit cards. I am very upset right now. We've been taking my pup here for years but I feel that as of late, what we want done doesn't matter as much as it use to. My parents just brought my dog home and they did exactly what we told them not to. The lady that was there said she had told the girl who did my dogs hair twice, to not shave his tail as requested but my pup came home with a shaved tail anyway. My parents were then STILL charged full price. I cant believe they didnt even give them a complementary cut or at least a discount. Not to mention his ears came back extremely short. I'm very disappointed. We've been going there for 15 years. Will not be back again. Side note: My father told me that they once injured my dogs leg while being groomed, he had come back limping. We took our two-year-old dog to get groomed with no appointment scheduled but they were able to get her squeezed into the schedule. Overall the haircut looked decent but they left her collar on as tight as it could possibly be luckily we caught it in time. After we picked up our dog she was not being herself not one bit. I assume she didn't like the staff very much which isn't very normal because when we took her to a groomer before she was acting nothing like this. This is a cute little mom and pop grooming place where I go to get my dog's nails cut. The price was very affordable. They were very quick and friendly on this visit and in the past. When my dog needs a good groom or brush out I will try that service out too! read more

My mother and I use to bring both of our dogs here for years, but after our pups had passed it was a while since we'd needed their services. I was so happy to have gotten a new puppy. He was a bit wild, and could get aggressive when scared. I warned the man on the phone of that, and also told that to the lady when I dropped him off. I also let them BOTH know that this was his first time being groomed professionally. The said that that was fine. I showed up right at the time of his appointment and they took him back. Said it would be 3-4 hours (which is ridiculous, but he really needed a hair cut and they were the only ones who could get him in in such short notice). After 3.5 hours I wanted to call and check in with them. Sometimes they have them done early and just haven't had the time to call yet. The woman answered the phone and first had no idea what dog I was talking about, which made me panic. Then she said "Oh...him." Which made me even more nervous. She then explained how he tried to bite them all and that he had been aggressive. I apologized but told her that I did try to warn her and the man on the phone. (My boy was about 4-5 lbs at the time, just to give a better picture. I understand that any dog that bites could be s) I go to pick him up, and she disappears into the back to go and get him. I wait for 3-5 minutes before she comes back and tells me I have to go back there and get him, he won't come to her. So I go in the back where it's very dark and crowded with a bunch of dog crates. They have him in this huge XL crate. I squat down and call him and he comes running to me, shaking and crying. I paid the woman and then left. I will never come back to this business again. PET OWNERS BEWARE! If you love your little babies as much as I love mine, please go somewhere else! read more

She is always polite and the prices are more than reasonable. As for some of the negative reviews I have seen, dont believe them. We have been taking our dog here for at least 4 years. I was always pleased with the job they did, until recently. The last 3 times I took my dog they did a bad job. He has a few moles and I always remind them when I drop him off about them, and they have cut them the last 3 times. The most recent time (and the last time) I took him in, he had an appointment for 11 o clock and they told me 2 hours. I called 2 1/2 hours later and they said it would be another half hour. I called 45 minutes later and they told me that they had some WALK INS, and he still wasn't done. I made an appointment, not to mention I'm a regular, so I would think my dog would get done before a walk in. Well, I finally got to pick him up 4 hours later. He had the worst hair cut and they had clipped his moles! I am going to take him somewhere else next time. They lost my business for sure. read more

Over the past couple years I've taken my toy poodles and cocker spaniel mix here to get groomed every so often and I will say the cuts were always different, sometimes they were better than others, sometimes the eye boogers weren't cleaned as good as they had been before but I never specified what I wanted done and every time I would bring them in they were a mess and the price was ALWAYS more than reasonable and the cuts were always even and smooth. On Saturday I took my poodle to get cut and asked for a Mohawk and they didn't mind at all and this time I specified I wanted his eye boogers cleaned and she said they always do but okay, about an hour later I picked him up and his hair cut was great and his eye boogers were pretty cleaned up but when we got in the car I noticed him squinting his eyes which was strange, he doesn't do that. We got home and at that point he was keeping his eyes closed and hiding in the house, clearly in pain. So I thought maybe something was in his eyes so I rinsed it out and but a warm rag on them and thought he would sleep it off but 5 hours later he was still doing it and so we called to see if anything had happened while he was there and they said no but if it's still like that tomorrow to bring him back in and they'll put eye drops in, we knew he was in pain and we were worried so we took him to the emergency vet and turned out that he had a corneal ulcer in each eye, the vet couldn't say if it was cause from the groomers but she did say it could be from sharp objects hitting the eye or harsh chemicals or even him scratching his eyes and so we got sent home with pain meds and ointment to put in his eyes every 6 hours. We weren't going to cause a fuss because we had never had a problem with Canine Cottage in the past so we never called them the day after but they called us! They wanted to know how he was doing, that surprised me, I told them everything and they offered to reimburse us for the vet bill and that they were very sorry and they don't know how it happened. I went in the next day and the lady wasn't there so I left and then she called me later and told me she was sorry she missed me and to come by anytime before 5 so I went back and she reimbursed the whole bill and was very apologetic. I'm throughly impressed, they went above and beyond to contact me and make sure they fixed they're mistake (I think she knew they messed up). Based on the looks of the place I never would have thought they would be like that, I will definitely be going back! :) read more

This place is Reno's best kept secret! I have taken my puppy to many different groomers and have had the best service here thus far! Not only was the service great and the staff understanding of my puppy's matted hair, they were willing to fix it. I had a horrible experience at another groomer earlier that week and they said there was nothing they could do. Here the welcomed him with open arms and told me it would take a few hours, which was no problem. I came back to a cute teddy bear faced puppy with a great all over groom! Usually I find areas where the hair is uneven but I didn't find one! Also they gave me tips for future upkeep which is great, my pups hair has been coming back less matted, and growing substantially with a nice even coat. This is the worst groomer I have ever experienced. My friend has a beautiful pure bred Siberian Husky and went to this groomer to get her undercoat brushed, tail trimmed, bath and blow out.. the usual. She walked in to a horror show. Her husky had been shaved from head to toe leaving only a bushy tail. THIS IS NOT WHAT WAS ASKED FOR. Any well educated groomer would know you can't shave a double coat dog. Her coat will never grow in the same, it is about to be winter she can get sick and in the summer her skin will be extremely vulnerable to the sun sensitivity will cause sunburns and in extreme cases skin cancer. And when she started to cry upon seeing her baby the owner and multiple employees began to laugh at her and the dog. This is extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this place to anyone who cares for their animals. I will be filing a legal complaint against this business and the owner. Hopeful something like this never happens again. When called the next day in regards to this situation the owner was defensive and rude and denied ever having touched the dog. When informed a complain would be filed she laughed and said "okay" never once showed any empathy for their horrendous work or behavior. read more

My 80 year old mother boarded her small dog with these people over Christmas and when she picked him up he was very subdued almost as if he had been given a tranquilizer. In addition his feet and backside were covered in feces and he sounded hoarse from barking but the attendant said he had not barked much at all. My mom had to bathe him and the blanket she brought for him when she got home and It took several hours for him to return to normal activity. My mother took the time to tour the facility before choosing them to care for her dog so be wary, what you may see is not the reality of what your fur baby will experience! read more
