Camp Bow Wow of South Reno is incredibly unprofessional. I would strongly recommend looking…read moreelsewhere for daycare and boarding. We went in for a tour which was provided by the owner. During the tour we discussed that our dog would be 7 months old during his stay (DOB Aug 19th 2025, making him 7 months old and 16 days at the start of the boarding on April 4th 2026). Their policy is that dogs over 7 months old must be fixed, so since we were right at that point, we wanted to see if he needed to be fixed. WE WERE TOLD HE DID NOT NEED TO BE FIXED DURING OUR TOUR WITH THE OWNER. Once he passed the evaluation, we made our reservation with the assistant manager and again confirmed that everything was acceptable with his age and intact state. AGAIN, WE WERE TOLD EVERYTHING WAS ACCEPTABLE AND ALLOWED TO MAKE THE RESERVATION. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANAGER HAD SIGNED OFF SINCE IT WAS ON THE CUSP OF THE AGE REQUIREMENT. After drop off, he was suddenly isolated for most of his stay with no communication via app, text, or phone, despite us opting into all alerts. We only discovered this by viewing the cameras. We saw him once on the camera, in a play pen, alone. No staff interacting with him, no dogs, nothing. He was pacing the side of the pen clearly upset. Heartbreaking. At pickup I asked what was going on with our dog. The manager replied that there were no issues. I asked again why he was separated and got the same answer. I asked a third time and pointed to the monitor in the lobby and asked why he was isolated and stated that he was clearly upset (at this point he was alone in a play pen pacing, which was currently on the monitors in the lobby). She looked at her computer and told me it was because he's not neutered and over the age requirement since he was over 8 months. I was in disbelief, especially since he was in fact 7 months old. We had checked and double checked that this would not be an issue and were reassured it would not be. After telling me there wasn't an issue, she then tried to say they were unaware of his age when they made the reservation, another blatant lie. The manager claimed our dog was over 8 months old and said they had to follow the "7-month rule" (even though he was) or they could get in "big trouble". I said this appeared to be an internal policy since other facilities had difference age requirements, including one in Spanish Springs which was 12 months. The manager then proceeded to tell me that that facility uses cattle prods on the dogs in their care, so good luck taking our dog there...the unprofessional nature of this manager was astounding. At this point I asked for partial refund since daycare (included in the boarding fee) was not provided. The manager said she had to call the owner. She came back and said that the owner said because he was over 8 months old it was our fault and we signed a waver. I expressed my displeasure with that response, and she said she'd go call again. The manager never came back and instead sent the assistant manager to collect the fee. I asked where the discount was and she said that I wasn't paying for daycare just boarding...? While I was paying the assistant manager kept saying they didn't isolate our dog and took great care of him. Ironically, during this discussion another staff member walked in and interjected herself into the conversation and said that we received a phone call when they decided to separate our dog (yet another lie). The assistant manager looked at the staff member and told her to stop talking. I tried to inquire about this supposed phone call and our dog being 'separated' and the assistant manager told me to be the bigger person and just leave. The treatment our dog received was unacceptable. The staff are unprofessional and dishonest. I strongly recommend going anywhere else. I wish I had taken the other negative reviews more seriously.

We checked out quite a few places and what set RWC apart is the emphasis on staff training and a carefully maintained staff-to-dog ratio. That means it does book up on busy weekdays and holidays, so reservations are required, which isn't as necessary at a lot of places. Our dog gets easily overwhelmed in new situations, and they've been brilliant at helping her cope and get enough downtime. We love that they have the treadmills, which helps our active dog calm down and focus. Their trainer Star introduced "wait" to her instead of "stay," and it's made a noticeable difference. We've had great chats (in person and by email) with Jodie, the RWC owner, and we love how committed she is to high standards and creating a healthy and safe environment for dogs. I'd say it's a bit pricier than some options, but RWC's commitment to fairly compensating and training their staff is a great thing to see in this industry and, of course, ultimately results in a better experience for the dogs as well.

I find their pricing to be fair for the high quality of service they provide, and I love that they offer thoughtful extras, like giving your dog treadmill or pool breaks, or the occasional activity add-ons to help exercise your dog mentally in addition to physically.

They have all been very good to me and my boys. I have also always had their shots done, and was always prepared for that since they notify you by email in advance when their shots are expiring. They have extended my boys stays on short notice or were able to get them in on short notice as well. The only thing that has ever been required sooner than most places was kennel cough, and flu which is completely understandable! SO THANK YOU CHRISTOPHER RAYNOR , for pulling out so my pups could go in on short notice, especially since my boys shots were up to date. On another note Mr. Raynor, don't go trash talking my family. I consider The Bark House extended family since they have always taken care of my boys and have always notified me when my pups were due for their shots. I don't appreciate someone who trash talks my family when you sir, were not in compliance, and really dude...do you know that parvo can kill a dog? Again, The Bark House has always taken care of my boys, and if you give them enough heads up they will even bath them before you head in to taken them home! I recommend them to everyone and they are good supporters of military, police and I believe first responders as well. But being military and police, they have supported me and my boys since I discovered them! They are wonderful with my boys which always come home tired and happy from playing! The good - the female facilitator and the other gentleman were very sweet. They gave a great tour, and were always happy to take calls or answer questions. I think this place is great for folks who work on USA Parkway, or folks who are content with quick exchanges with no feedback. The bad - Unfortunately most of my drop offs consisted of dealing with Thomas, the owner. He made it clear pretty early on that he thought me and my dog had "anxiety issues". When I picked my dog up each day I liked to ask how her day was, as I'm genuinely interested (I love my dog lol) and it's nice to make small talk. Thomas took this interaction as me thinking my dog had a problem, and would make comments about my dog having some type of issue. He constantly rubbed me the wrong way, saying it was incorrect for me to say goodbye to my dog as it would increase her anxiety, and mentioning that I shouldn't call in to check on her. The final straw was today, Thomas had made a comment to my husband yesterday that my dog was "nippy" with him, and I wanted to talk to Thomas about it directly as I was genuinely concerned about my dog showing potential signs of aggression. Upon me asking him about it, he immediately let me know I should probably find another daycare, as I'm the owner he deals with that has the most issues or concerns. I tried to amicably let him know I'm only trying to get more information on the situation, but he kept insisting I go somewhere else since I'm not happy. This was a totally unprofessional way to speak to me, and as a paying customer I think it's well within my right to ask second level questions about my dog's behavior. I will be taking his advice, and going to a different daycare that doesn't view me as a problem customer for checking in on my dog or asking about her at pickup. 2 stars because they helped us out during days we needed dog care, and I'm appreciative for that!
