Docs Diner does not stand out as better, or worse than any other diner. There food had no unique recipe nor special beverages. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. Basically a chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce. They meal lacked buffalo sauce, which was the key ingredient to the whole mixture. It was as if I was eating plain chicken on bread. On the side I ordered french fries. These fries were very much like McDonald's fries, if not slightly larger. They are not my favorite fries, but they meet my bare standards. The service was decent, quick and to the point. Immediately after being seated I was asked what to drink. In a rush I told the waitress Apple Juice (Which tasted like it was Minute Maid apple juice). Doc's much touted pancakes are very average. It's supposed to be a special recipe but it tasted like the ones at IHOP or similar. My father-in-law's recipe would put Doc to shame! However, I had the tropical ones, and the toppings (pecans, coconut, etc.) were very good! read more

All I can say is the staff is super friendly!!! The best service in all of Key Largo! It is nothing fancy but it was clean. As far as the food goes the portions are huge!!!!!! So go in with an appetite because the food is delicious. I highly recommend this place I had a skillet with hash brown some cheese sauce gravy and added the corned beef hash and it was freaking amazing! I was just upset that I couldn't finish it. Breakfast places in Key Largo tend to only cater to the sweet tooth. This review is only on the more savory items. However nothing was very savory about the watery goo that was served to us this fine morning. First, the hash brown casserole was reminiscent of a green bean casserole... Same canned space-food ingredients but instead of beans it was frozen hashbrowns. Don't get this if you think it's a kitschy remake of a comfort food. It really is just a can of soup mixed with hashbrowns and covered in cheese. The eggs were of low quality... Perhaps powdered. I asked for cheese on them and was surprised to have so much gooey cheese that I couldn't tell where the eggs were. It was unbelievable how much cheese the cook put into the eggs. My husband got Benedict. It was okay. The regular hashbrowns were fine. The coffee was good. Server was abrupt and no smiles but seemed to have a good rapport with the staff. No one noticed that I didn't touch my breakfast. That made me sad. My best advice in Key Largo for breakfast is to make your own. read more

Stopped by here on the way home from the Keys with a group of 7 right at 12pm and in spite of the place looking very busy we were seated right away and they took care of us. Huge menu with lots of great looking, CHEAP, large-portion items! Ended up going with the chicken fried steak which came with 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast for only 7.99! Breakfast as it should be served: fast, tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. We ate until we were stuffed (why didn't we split a HALF order of biscuits & gravy instead of a full order?!) bacon & eggs with crispy hash browns and toast for less than $6. Biscuits & gravy? How about a plate with two large, fluffy biscuits, split in have and covered in a thick, creamy sausage gravy? We considered omelets since they were recommended and looked great. We considered pancakes because we love pancakes. But we went traditional and were not disappointed. Hubby got sausage patties & eggs and we shared - two of my bacon strips for one of his sausage patties. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the huge serving of hash browns was nice and crispy but moist inside. We passed on the toast because we had a huge plate of biscuits and gravy coming. In hindsight I would have liked a slice of sourdough toast for sopping my over-easy eggs. But a girl has to cut calories somewhere, right? The sign out front says Doc's is a "local favorite" and the local who recommended it to us was right. Good food and our out the door bill before tip (and with our Yelp check-in 10% discount) was just under $20. The owner is an Optician (interesting story is printed on front of menu) of Italian heritage so they also offer Italian lunch specials every Tue. Everything was delicious and the service was good. We were at a get away wedding in key Largo. Staying at the Marriott resort. We wanted a local diner. Our bellhop recommended Doc's diner. Eight of us went there a few days ago and it was a wonderful delight. Our waitress, coffee, A K n as dot was great. She was an entertainer worth the cost of breakfast which was not only a fraction of what we spent at the Marriott the prior day but it was better and more than we could eat. Their motto is. Been here several times. It feels like home. Dont ve overwhelmed with the wait because you won't be waiting long. The cinnamon rolls are to die for. Their breakfast eggs are real eggs not processed. They are generous with their portions and very nice about changing things around if there is something in your order you rather omit. The staff is welcoming. I recommend the train wreck . Only a few places in the keys that you can eat breakfast. May not be amazing food but it's been there forever. The service is okay. The bigger lady seems like she can't focus on her job. The Key Largo Benedict is huge - a ton of ham and tomato, which I liked. I got it with the English muffin which was really good. I wish they had a half order. My Fiancée and I stopped by this morning to Doc's Diner. We frequent the Keys and usually go to Harriet's for breakfast (Which is great). Today we decided to change it up and went to Doc's. If you are looking for a good old American breakfast with friendly fast service Doc's does it. Service was great (and even though it's hard to mess up breakfast) so was the food. My fiancée had pancakes and I had eggs sunny side up with hash browns and bacon with toast. I also ordered a bowl of grits. The servers always made sure your coffee mug was full and made you feel at home. We were also surprised how large the menu was. They have a variety of options for lunch and dinner. They also have an Italian Tuesday night. Don't forget to vote for Doc's cavs. He's alway a contestant in the upper Keys best legs contest! Four stars for Doc's. read more
