We stopped at Doc's for breakfast on Sunday morning. It was a good choice and they were absolutely slammed. The staff did a good job sitting different groups at tables together to get everyone seated. There is nothing fancy about this place. Just an old fashioned roadside diner with good food and friendly service. They serve basic breakfast fare along with a number of skillet scrambles that do a nice job of changing things up. The Breakfast Burrito Grande is a flour tortilla filled with diced chicken, scrambled eggs, jalapenos and topped with chunky salsa, melted cheddar cheese, and sour cream. It was a very good way to begin a relaxing day in the keys. My wife's waffle looked good too... Stop in if you're in the area. I think you'll enjoy it. read more

Some friends and I were in town for a wedding this past weekend and were looking for a good place to get some grease in our system after we had woke up too early the morning after a great night! Doc's Diner was located right across the street from our hotel, which was perfect! The location was great and convenient. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Before we could even glance over the menu, our server had taken our drink order and the coffee was hot and delicious! For breakfast, I ordered a complicated healthy menu item and it came out perfectly. I am usually a pretty picky eater and am the guest that most servers can't stand because I ask for one menu item and then change everything about it. The server was so kind with all of my requests and didn't make me feel like I was inconveniencing her in the slightest. Our food came out and it was delicious! I had ordered an egg-white omelet with jalapenos and besides the minor fact that it was OVERLOADED with jalapenos - the food was delicious! I also tried a bite of one of my friends dish, the Tropical French Toast, and WHOA! I normally don't even like french toast but before you knew it, I had eaten an entire piece of hers (so much for being healthy lol). This is one of those places that you might not stop at by looking at it from the outside, but its actually better than ok. I've eaten breakfast here several times. The prices are decent, the food an service is always good. The place is consistent and worth trying. Let me prewarn you, it's not likely that you'll call home and tell everyone about the place you stopped for breakfast, but you're not likely to complain either. This is one of those places that makes me just love the keys. Its as far from a chain restaurant as you can get. Walking in the door is like stepping back in time 20 years. This morning, we had the pleasure of eating at Doc's Diner, and we were very impressed by the service, swiftness, and portions. While the menu is basic, it's all the safe, greasy spoon eats you may want. I had the #6, but substituted the pancakes for french toast, and chose to get all sausage links, rather than split 2 bacon/2 sausage links. My wife had the waffles and opted for the meat split. As is often the case at restaurants, I was right. The sausage links were far superior to the fairly weak bacon. The place is family friendly and obviously a locals diner. Friendly staff, casual, comfortable ambience and great food!! Loved this place. We had ordered new jersey style waffle and hash brown casserole and they were super delicious! We also ordered 2 salads- one of them was the key largo special salad..the name really tempted us to order it..but I felt the salads were on the average side compared to their other menu items..they could have been a little better but as most of the other dishes were pretty good..I am not complaining. A family owned restaurant with down to earth service and good food. We first heard about the place due to being featured on a Triple D episodes of Miami restaurants. With the word Diner in the name of the joint, Triple D has to visit! From then on, it was on our Bucket List. We finally went in 2012 on a day excursion from Miami (it's in Key Largo). It's not too far of a drive but a fun mini road trip if you have kids or guests in town. The food there is legendary! Small town diner vibe, clean, and friendly staff. The food seems scratch made and not trying to be anything but great food. Large portions, so you may have to take home. Our 2nd visit was more recent, early 2016 and it was just as good. Great little diner in Key Largo. The signage said it was where the locals go and it was true. We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It's a generic diner. The place was filled with Conchs. Our waitress was sassy, but fun- I was treated to an eye roll when I asked for decaf. The food was ready almost instantly. We had a combination whose name escapes me, but it consisted of two eggs, two links of sausage, two strips of bacon and two of Uncle Adrian's pancakes. Everything was very good. This place was such a pleasant surprise. We were in the area and had no idea where to go. We were also a large group. When we got there, they automatically accommodated us. The staff if extremely friendly and the food is plentiful. Since I'm cutting back, I just had two eggs and half a cantaloupe BUT, my boyfriend had "The Champ" with corn beef hash. Although it didn't look too appealing, it was out of hand! So much flavor! Everyone else really enjoyed their food as well. Another friend of ours had the eggs benedict which looked fabulous. Docs Diner does not stand out as better, or worse than any other diner. There food had no unique recipe nor special beverages. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. Basically a chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce. They meal lacked buffalo sauce, which was the key ingredient to the whole mixture. It was as if I was eating plain chicken on bread. On the side I ordered french fries. These fries were very much like McDonald's fries, if not slightly larger. They are not my favorite fries, but they meet my bare standards. The service was decent, quick and to the point. Immediately after being seated I was asked what to drink. In a rush I told the waitress Apple Juice (Which tasted like it was Minute Maid apple juice). We ate until we were stuffed (why didn't we split a HALF order of biscuits & gravy instead of a full order?!) bacon & eggs with crispy hash browns and toast for less than $6. Biscuits & gravy? How about a plate with two large, fluffy biscuits, split in have and covered in a thick, creamy sausage gravy? We considered omelets since they were recommended and looked great. We considered pancakes because we love pancakes. But we went traditional and were not disappointed. Hubby got sausage patties & eggs and we shared - two of my bacon strips for one of his sausage patties. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the huge serving of hash browns was nice and crispy but moist inside. We passed on the toast because we had a huge plate of biscuits and gravy coming. In hindsight I would have liked a slice of sourdough toast for sopping my over-easy eggs. But a girl has to cut calories somewhere, right? The sign out front says Doc's is a "local favorite" and the local who recommended it to us was right. Good food and our out the door bill before tip (and with our Yelp check-in 10% discount) was just under $20. The owner is an Optician (interesting story is printed on front of menu) of Italian heritage so they also offer Italian lunch specials every Tue. Everything was delicious and the service was good. I pay around $8 for eggs, hashbrowns, toast, bacon, and coffee. Love making a good egg sandwich out of them! Plenty of lunch options, but I've for the most part only ordered breakfast at 5am. Locals come in and it's fun to sit at the bar with them while everyone exchanges stories, from fishing to business endeavors. Very friendly hangout spot, even when you don't know anyone. We were at a get away wedding in key Largo. Staying at the Marriott resort. We wanted a local diner. Our bellhop recommended Doc's diner. Eight of us went there a few days ago and it was a wonderful delight. Our waitress, coffee, A K n as dot was great. She was an entertainer worth the cost of breakfast which was not only a fraction of what we spent at the Marriott the prior day but it was better and more than we could eat. Their motto is.
