Chicken was okay. Wish there was an option to order multiple flavours. The service was great though. It was mostly quiet and empty on a weekday evening with only around 2 other tables of people.
3.5 STARS Most fried chicken places in the complex don't open until 4pm, and it was lunch time so I stopped by here. Wanted to do take out and ordered the garlic soy chicken wings which comes with small fries on the side and ordered sweet potato fries too. Order came out to be $29 and change. The kind cashier told me it'll take about 10 minutes to finish. I left and walked around the complex before coming back and just on time, she just finished bagging my order. Got home and wings were still hot! Full of sauce and flavour, but I did have that mouth feel of too much flour or cornstarch/potato starch. It had that floury, after taste, as if they didn't dust off the excess flour before frying. The sauce on the wings flavour is good, but it doesn't taste like your typical Korean style garlic soy. The fries were nicely fried and crispy. The sweet potato fries were soggy and cut like thin rectangles. I don't recommend ordering the sweet potato fries unless you like them thin and soggy. I believe they accept cash and debit only. If you pay cash they don't include tax. Good to try, but don't think I'll be back.
Awesome chicken spot! The chicken is hot tender, and boneless--just the way I like it. We got the 5DM and I will say there is not that much chicken in it, given the price. It includes quite a bit of rice cakes and roasted garlic (which is a very big highlight in my opinion) which could be like 40% of the dish. The whole shush is lovely though, saucy tender chicken and roasted garlic is perfection! I love me the cheese dip, and sweet potato fries are a personal fav. Their sweet potato fries were nice and crispy on the outside but still soft and moist on the inside. Overall, pretty great taste but the price is a bit steep from what you expect.
After viewing the photos that were posted, we decided to come try it out. We ordered the 5.5cm DM Chicken Set- 2 sides of chicken with your chosen spice level, salad, and either fries or sweet potato fries. However, it was a disappointment... the whole night me and my friends had to play "Where's the chicken?" as they were cut into very tiny pieces. In fact, everything was tiny- chicken, garnish, rice cake, except the price wasn't tiny. We paid nearly $45 (including tac + tips) for a plate for diced chicken. Taste wise, as we ordered sweet spicy, it lived up to its name except leaned towards the sweet side. Definitely will not come back. Not worth the price :(
Food: It definitely was not a very filling meal despite us ordering the largest tray on the menu. Despite paying approximately $20+ each, we were all left feeling pretty hungry. The primary midsection of the food was supposed the main chicken entree - and it disappointingly had more potatoes and onions than any chicken. The other side dishes on the tray (ie. lamb chops, beef patty, fries) were probably the best part of the meal. Service: Service was pretty bad - I had to go up to keep asking for new water jugs since the server was inattentive and didn't really tend to our table despite it not being very busy. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was probably the only positive mention for this review - it felt very warm and cozy. Almost like I was sitting in a friend's dining room and having dinner. I sadly have to give this establishment 2 stars.
I shared the 5 dm chicken. I feel like it was half filler. It's not all chicken. In the mix is rice cake rolls, potatoes and garlic. It's not as much as you may think. The chicken is spread out over the tray. For this price I'd expect more chicken. Also, the chicken isn't fried. I'm not sure why I was expecting this, but it still tastes good. The sauce is what saves this dish. The mild is still very spicy. The middle white sauce is some sort of cheese mix. It's tastes like cheese diluted with mayonnaise lol. Also, the bowl of rice is small. Luckily you can ask for more. The salad is basic. The layout of the food tray increases the presentation marks. The candles adds a touch of class to this restaurant.
Located in Toronto (SkyCity Shopping Centre)This area is known for their mass selection of bubble tea and we had to find a spot in this area to eat! DM Chicken is a restaurant that has special recipes for their food selection. We ordered their 7.5CM DM Chicken Set. A set consist of multiple foods and sauce to dip in. For sets their are two food selections of DMChicken. We ordered one selection as original spice level and the other as medium spice level. The set included multiple sides and sauces. We had an option for pork chop or beef patty, and fries or sweet potato fries. For our set, we choose pork chop and regular fries . We didn't find anything special about these two, the pork chop was dry and flavourless and the fries were mediocre. The other sides were fried chicken (6 pieces), daily salad and cheese . We found the salad to be like any other house salad, and the fried chicken to be crispy. The cheese wasn't as satisfying as we thought it would be as it wasn't stringy. As for the main portion of the set, the DMChicken came with rice cake, potato, onion, carrot, and garlic. The chicken had so much sauce that was rather sweet for our liking. We appreciated how they balanced out the chicken with vegetables, but found their was a lot of potato. We wouldn't return here for a full meal again, but would consider this spot for snacky foods. 6/10
There aren't many places like DM chicken around toronto (atleast not that I know of) so it was a new experience for my friends and I. We came on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy. I ordered the original 5 DM chicken, which comes with rice cake, potatoes, salad, rice, and fries, and shared with my bf. The first thing I noticed about this place is that there isn't really a chicken option that caters to one person.. the smallest is the 5 DM which you'd def have to share if you want to try the chicken, otherwise you have no choice but to choose a different dish like the noodles. The sauce for the chicken was pretty good, as it was sweet and even had an enjoyable hint of spicy. I will say that I was slightly disappointed with the amount of rice cake that was include in the chicken set. The atmosphere is nice and spacious and not very crowded. The service was pretty lowkey, as they would only come to you when asked despite the fact that it was already pretty dead in there when we visited. After tax and tips, our bill came to a bit over $50 (for 2 person portions). It was an average experience, cool to try, but you're not missing out on much if you don't. For the price, I think there's a lot of other places I'd opt to go to way before this.
Came here on a whim for some sort of fried chicken. I came in the afternoon as a party of 3, it was not busy at all and we were seated right away. We ordered the 5DM and the black chicken with fries. - 5DM - large enough for 2 people. Choice of one sauce and we got mild. It was sweet with a hint of spice. The dish came with chopped up chicken pieces, potatoes, garlic, chili peppers and rice cakes. This also comes with a side of salad, 2 small rice, choice of fries or sweet potato fries (we picked sweet potato) and 2 dips (we picked honey mustard and sweet and sour). - I wasn't too impressed by the cheese dip in the middle... it probably wasn't made of actual cheese... tasted more like a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream - Black chicken with fries $15.99 - We were surprised how black the crust of the chicken was even though it looked charred and burnt! This was surprisingly good as the chicken came out juicy and sweet. The menu was a bit hard to read as most of it was in Chinese. Post on social media for 10% off. The place was quite spacious and had cute decor. Average service. I would say it's a bit pricey as I thought the overall flavour was OK, not outstanding.
DM Chicken is quite an interesting food spot to check out if you happen to be in the Scarborough area. They have gained quite the reputation in the local Toronto food scene for their wide family style platter comprised of chicken, cheese dip, fries, salad and rice. I came one evening with a friend very excited to see what the whole hype was all about. We were seated quickly, which was a little surprising for a Saturday evening. Nevertheless, we decided to order the 5 DM Plate. When the platter came to our table, it is exactly what you see on the menu. The chicken is stir fried with cubed potatoes, onion, garlic and chilis. It was ok, not excellent but not bad when you dip the chicken in the cheese dip even though it's really cream cheese. There is unlimited rice, which is nice to help soak up the sauce from the chicken. Overall, DM Chicken is a solid spot if you're looking to share a meal with friends and family. It's worth a try, but not worth its value since the majority of the plate id filled with carb fillers. The service is good and the restaurant atmosphere is clean, but it's not worth a frequent visit.
We came for the novelty of how the food was presented in those long trays; and I guess we would only be coming back (if ever) for that same reason. Taste of the food and value for money is nothing special. The fries served tasted cheap like something one can just get at your local supermarket. Good thing there are dipping sauces to change up the flavours. The chicken order is also not that much as we would have hoped. There is a good fraction of the serving which was composed of rice cakes, cheese, or potatoes = Food Fillers. Good points I do have to point out is how I personally loved the blend of sweet chili on the chicken as well as the playfulness of the taste of the cheese ingredient. Place would warrant full stars if they either lower the price or increase the serving portions. Maybe then would I consider coming back for reasons other than the treat of the experience.
I'm not sure exactly what the flavour of their Black Chicken is, but believe me when I say that you should try it. It looks like chicken that is completely burnt, but that's just how it looks like from the flavouring! It's like a very soft outer batter of blackness that is not too salty. The outside is crispy but soft and the chicken itself is extremely juicy and flavourful. I asked the waitress what the batter/flavour is, but she couldn't really tell me. She mentioned curry (I think?), but it does not have any curry taste at all. It's an airy and salty kind of flavour. I'm glad I decided to try it though because I will DEFINITELY be back for it again. It came with a total of 12 chicken wings and a side of fries, so for the price of $15.99 I would say that it's worth it.
Been here a lot and I really like DM chicken. I always get the platter here. There are different options like seafood but I always get the chicken, it comes with some small rice cakes as well. The spicy chicken is the best! It always comes with sides like small salad, chicken wings, etc. I do wish their portions were a little bigger. They used to give you unlimited rice but now they give you rice depending on the size of platter you get. Service is pretty good and the food usually comes out quickly. There's a decent amount of seating and booth so it's good for big groups or small groups. read more

For $69, their signature platter is a tasty and affordable way to feed 3-4. The sauce they use on their chicken is really good - spicy, thick, a little sweet. Plenty of garlic cloves in the dish to give it a nice boost of flavour. Comes with shrimp tempura, fries, chicken wings, and salad read more
We decided not to cook last night, because it was holiday and we went to so many places yesterday. Too tired to cook after the walk. There are lots of restaurants in this plaza. My husband wanted some chicken tonight, instead of spicy food. This DM Chicken looks good to us. The menu is online with QR code. Due to first time here, we were going to have the Cheese Chicken Wings, but after ordered it the waitress was going to take away the wood ruler in front of me. I like that wood piece, she said that's for DM chicken, oh, then I would like to have the DM chicken instead, with no spicy. This dish was heating up with the candles underneath on the wood ruler. The plate was special, like a flat pan that all side dishes (It comes with a bowl of salad, and a bowl of onion rings as your choice.) and sauces (honey garlic and sweet hot sauce) on one side, cheese on the middle, BBQ chicken on both sides of cheese. The taste was a bit salty and it was not that much chicken on the plate, but the sauce was good to have a bowl of rice. By the way, it also comes with 2 bowls of rice. Overall, not bad. The decor of the restaurant was ok too. A place to try something new. read more

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. We got the $68.88 meal. It comfortably fed 5 people. The chicken was saucy and tender. Loved the fries, and fried chicken. The beef patty was literally a burger patty with melted cheese. Food was delish, and would definitely come back here again. read more

I had the cheese fried chicken with fries combo. Total with tax came to $14.68. Breading was quite good, very crispy and not oily... only recommendation is it could be seasoned a bit more. Chicken meat inside is not bad but to me was not adequately seasoned. Not sure I would call it cheese fried chicken as it was sprinkled with a bit of grated Parmesan only and not cheesy otherwise. Chicken came with a side of sweet plum sauce. Spicy fries were crispy. For the price it definitely met my expectations. read more
Between 4 women we went with the 5 dm chicken, black wings and bulgogi and cheese with rice. We counted all of 6 pieces of rice cake in the mix with the chicken and potatoes. The restaurant could stand to put much more in than that. Also, the amount of cheese in that little tray wasn't enough for the amount of chicken that was served. I'm not sure if there are free refills. Since there was a non spicy eater in the group we got the original flavour and it was still flavourful. The black wings were not for me. They look burnt (even though they're not) and they're not particularly tasty. However, the bulgogi and cheese rice was delicious! We had bowls of rice with the dm chicken and mixed that in and the rice was still tasty. read more

I just love their DM Chicken platters. The best thing is that they have the right length for every party size. The whole ambience is really cheery and comfortable as well. It makes for a great place to grab some yummy food and chat with your friends. I come to this place twice a year usually, and it is the best experience every time. The platters are always so tasty because they have a bit of everything, and the cheese sauce makes every bite the best bite. read more

This place is kind of underrated in my opinion. The way the food is presented it what drew me to eat here, but the food itself is what keeps me coming back. The chicken is covered with this tasty sweet sauce and you can choose how spicy you want it. The smallest size, 5dm, was enough to feed 3 of us comfortably. The cheese sauce in the middle is also great and you can actually get it refilled if you ask. Along with unlimited refills of rice. This is a restaurant you should come to with more than 2 people just so you can get your money's worth and have enough mouths to finish the portions. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back. read more
Came here on a Friday night for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the variety available. You can get all chicken (also comes with potatoes/onions/rice cakes) with the fries and salad or you can get it with seafood on one side. We also chose to get the kimchi rice bowl where you can roll your own rice balls! That part was super cute but I wish the rice had a stronger sesame oil flavour. Maybe next time I'd try the fish roe variation of the rice bowl. The chicken was cooked in a sweet soy sauce type glaze that went really well with the bowl of rice we got. My one complaint would be the potatoes which were very hard and crunchy - to the point where I thought it wasn't cooked. The cheese ads a nice savouryness to the chicken since the one flavour can get a little boring overtime. I liked the addition of the fries or sweet potato fries but wish they were crispier as most of them were soggy when we got to it. The sauces on the side for the fries were also a good addition, there was a vinegary mustard that tasted really good with the fries! If you're looking to try some chicken with a good combo or seafood, cheese, fries, and other sides then give Dm chicken a try! read more
I honestly wouldn't have came here especially after reading the reviews, but my friend really wanted to try it so here I am now writing this 1 star review. My friend threw up twice that night after we ate here, and my stomach was hurting for a few days after too. The customer service here was absolutely terrible. All the female employees just seemed like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I never understood why these people choose to work with customers if they hate people. The restaurant was pretty empty when we came in here, but yet the employees were so impatient and really wanted us to order asap. The menu was only available in Chinese and there were just a few words I wasn't sure of so we had to ask the waitress to explain the menu to us but she was so reluctant to do so. Then we tried to get another employee and we realized that nobody here spoke English. I don't have a problem with people not knowing how to speak English but if you're opening a restaurant in Canada, can you at least have an English menu? Overall, they were just so irritated and it made us feel very uncomfortable. Anyways... We ordered the 5DM Chicken ($40) in the original flavour which was like a honey garlic or something like that. The fries were COLD and the chicken was slightly cooler than room temperature.. even with the tiny candles under the platter. The cheese didn't taste like normal cheese you would get at korean bbq places. It had a weird consistency and tasted like.. plastic?? and it just didn't melt. The chicken pieces were very tiny - like an adult had to cut up food so it's bite-sized for toddlers. The entire time I was eating, I had a gut-feeling I was going to get sick. read more
Location/Service - Midland & Finch area, in the new plaza that has a bunch of bubble tea places - Plenty of parking available, it does get pretty busy as it's very commercial based with choices - Staff were polite, service was fast, nothing out of the ordinary - Do like their interior, bright modern feeling. Plenty of seating available Food - DM stands are decimetre, which means you can order chicken by the decimetre of length - Found that pretty creative, as it is serve according to the unit of measure you select - Did the longest (10 DM) selection with 2 choices of chicken, plus fries, salad, cheese and 2 choices of meat. Chicken you can select different flavours, I had the spicy & sweet and mild. Meat I chose lamb and pork chop. Chicken itself was tender, flavourful and blended well with the sauce. Spicy & Sweet was not spicy at all, but you can taste both at the same time. I did prefer that over the mild. Cheese in the middle was a little weird, I felt the combo didn't make that well. Lamb and pork chop was done well - nothing too outstanding there. I ordered the cheese fried chicken with fries hoping to try out some new restaurants in the massive scarborough food plaza and while the chicken was juicy while light and crispy on the outside without any excessive oil, I would not have called it cheese chicken. It was pretty disappointing to see when I opened to the box expecting gooey cheese only to be met with a few sprinkles of parmesan cheese. It wasn't even sprinkled on all the chicken, but the top few. pieces. I'm not sure if I'll be back, but the big platter chicken did look good. read more

Service - Service was average, nothing special. Polite and standard. Food - The food was pretty good, I've had lots f chicken and cheeses and it was on par with many. The cheese was kind of strange and tasted processed but it was still tasty. The chicken was a bit spicy for me, but that's just because I don't take spicy foods well. The food was good overall. Price - Price was a bit lower then other places but you don't get as much food either. It was balanced though for the price your paying to the amount of food you get. We got their sweet chili spiced chicken for 2 which comes with either fries or sweet potato fries, salad, and unlimited rice. There's onions, chicken, garlic, potatoes, and rice cake in the sweet n spicy chili sauce which I really enjoyed. The cheese dip was soso not too big of a fan. The rice was the chewy Korean rice which I really like. The salad was nothing special and the sweet potato fries weren't crispy enough. They have a special going on which is 39$ for the plate instead of the regular 49$. Also if you post a picture on instagram, they will give you another 10% off. With after tax and tip being around just under 50$ which can easily feed 2-3 ppl, the price isn't too bad for what you get. read more
This place is actually a franchise store for a chain in asia. I believe it may be the first in toronto. The theme they are going for is korean inspired chinese style chicken joint. So we ordered the hot plate as seen in the pictures. basically what they are famous for. and boy was the price expensive. the smallest one we can find is 38.80 before tax and tip so your looking at 40 something dollars for what turned out to be not a lot of chicken, fries, salad, or food. However one would hope that the quality would take over, this however is not so much, the chicken is a little overly salty, even with the rice (which was made soggy) it was a bit too salty, the basic flavour is okay mixed with the cheese sauce, but it is still too salty in general. the salad was flooded with sauce wayy too much sauce, you actually needed more lettuce to supplement it. and the fries was not crispy. Although there was sweet potato fries, you can tell that they had pre-fried these a long time ago, and just re-heated it, which is kinda crazy considering fries aren't that expensive and your charging 40 something for a 2 person meal. the interior is nice looking and clean, and the service was okay, however the food was just not that great, and the price was way too expensive for what you get. overall i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, as it isn't really worth the price. and the experience is not unique. there are tons of korean joints that can do the same thing in toronto. i realize this place was built for a mainland chinese audience in mind, as the promotions and the staff don't really know english. i dealt with a server who spoke zero english, and promotions for discounts are all in pure chinese. unless you have a chinese friend even if you wanted to try this place, you best avoid it. read more
this place is delicious!! they specialize in one thing being the chicken platter. for three people we got the medium sized one that was $66 and it was the perfect size, we could've if actually had one more person because we had leftovers !! first of all the service was quick and after ordering we only had to wait around 5 minutes to get the food. the platter is continuously heated with candles making every bite hot. the star of the platter was definetely the chicken and you are able to choose the spice level from no spice to extra spicy. we chose to get no spice and mild. the mild was rlly mild only a hint of spice but it added a nice flavour. the flavour of the chicken was amazing in addition with the mix of rice cakes and potatoes. the cheesy sauce in the middle paired with the chicken was a match mace in heaven it was soo good. I could stop saying mmmmmm. the dish also came with salad, beef patty, rice, yam fries and chicken wings. Along with three sauces which were sweet and sour, Caesar and chipotle. all the side dishes were food but the ones that stood out to me the most were the chicken wings and yam fries. the yam fries were crunchy and was delicious when paired with chipotle. along with that the fried chciken wings were very crunchy and I'm not sure if they were actually Korean styled by the insides were so juicy !! overall this place is amazing and I would would come again for sure. We came here with a party of 6 people. We ordered the largest size of 10DM thinking that might be enough for the whole party. While the whole presentation looked really cool and insta-worthy, it was not worth the price in my opinion. For more than $100, we had expected a lot more meat but that wasn't the case. I would say that this wasn't enough for my party (3 guys and 3 girls). Might be enough for around 4 people? Essentially the whole platform consists of 2 large metal plates with a cheesy divider in the middle. One plate was kind of like Korean Dakgalbi while the other side was octopus drenched in gochujang tasting spicy sauce. On the end sides of the platform were small tasting items like 6 pieces of fried chicken, a very small portion of fries, 3 lamb chops, a fairly small patty, and 2 little salads. The food tastes ok and I liked the fried chicken. But honestly for the same amount of money, you could get a big portion of dakgalbi with so many add-ons. So if you are here with a large party and wanted to try the cool DM chicken, make sure to order more a la carte items. read more
We ordered the 5dm (original flavour), on the pan there is chicken, potato, rice cakes, onion, carrots & garlic with cream cheese dipping in the middle and the set comes with salad and choice of fries/sweet potato fries #balanceddiet Overall the sauce was quite good, loved the rice cakes and sweet potato fries but it is nothing too too special. The chicken was heated up unevenly as they just put candles at the bottom so we moved the chicken to the hotter spots at the end. Also part of the menu doesn't have English so it might be confusing for those that can't read Chinese. I had a good time munching on all the food while catching up with a friend though. So i'd still recommend this place esp if you have a larger group as you can order the crazy long pan with more variety of food (yes i couldn't stop staring at what the other table ordered) read more

First time coming here, but I entered thinking it was chinese cuisine, after eating, seems like it was chinese style korean cuisine. The main entree chicken is very similar to jjimdak/braised soy sauce chicken. I got the 7.5 dm and it was about $75 after tax. Very pricey imo for the amt of chicken in the order. A lot of filler potatoes in the braised chicken boxes, and a lot of filler sides (fries/salad/porkchop/rice). The soysauce chicken was tasty, got to order two flavours: original and mild. I prefer the original sauce. Both are sweet and savoury and have the soy sauce base. 7.5 dm is more than enough for 4 or 5 people with left overs. I think if I come back, I might just stick to the 5 dm as it seems to have less side fillers. read more

Food is overpriced but cooked well. I ordered cheese chicken wings but it had little to no cheese. I have also tried the grapefruit fruit green tea which had no flavour to it. Service is fine and it is overall a clean environment. I would say it is decent, but not worth it. read more

We came to try their food bc it looks so interesting!! Fun way to eat chicken wrapped with cheese like this :) however, the taste is just a little above average from my opinion! Good to try it for the first time! read more

Food was nothing special. Spicy beef noodle had more ham pieces than beef and noodles were very soft. Soup was okay. The red chicken advertised as spicy was literally fried chicken with jarred sweet thai chili sauce drizzled on top. At least there were 10 pieces? Fried squid... two little tentacles served up when the menu picture was clearly something different. Service was horrible. I tried to tell our waitress we didn't understand mandarin and as a response she completely ignores me and tries to get someone else in our party to talk to her. Very rude attitude. read more

Food was absolutely delicious and the environment was nice and clean. I really enjoyed the marination of the mild spicy chicken, potatoes, carrots, onions and rice cakes! It was savoury and sweet with a kick of spice. I liked how they have candles under the hot plate to keep it warm. The fries and salad were meh and tasted stale. However, they don't charge you for sweet potato fries which is good! $38.99 for the platter set we got and if you pay cash you get 10% off. read more
