The spicy chicken is the best! It always comes with sides like small salad, chicken wings, etc. I do wish their portions were a little bigger. They used to give you unlimited rice but now they give you rice depending on the size of platter you get. Service is pretty good and the food usually comes out quickly. Due to first time here, we were going to have the Cheese Chicken Wings, but after ordered it the waitress was going to take away the wood ruler in front of me. I like that wood piece, she said that's for DM chicken, oh, then I would like to have the DM chicken instead, with no spicy. This dish was heating up with the candles underneath on the wood ruler. The plate was special, like a flat pan that all side dishes (It comes with a bowl of salad, and a bowl of onion rings as your choice.) and sauces (honey garlic and sweet hot sauce) on one side, cheese on the middle, BBQ chicken on both sides of cheese. The kind cashier told me it'll take about 10 minutes to finish. I left and walked around the complex before coming back and just on time, she just finished bagging my order. Got home and wings were still hot! Full of sauce and flavour, but I did have that mouth feel of too much flour or cornstarch/potato starch. It had that floury, after taste, as if they didn't dust off the excess flour before frying. The sauce on the wings flavour is good, but it doesn't taste like your typical Korean style garlic soy. The fries were nicely fried and crispy. The sweet potato fries were soggy and cut like thin rectangles. I don't recommend ordering the sweet potato fries unless you like them thin and soggy. For sets their are two food selections of DMChicken. We ordered one selection as original spice level and the other as medium spice level. The set included multiple sides and sauces. We had an option for pork chop or beef patty, and fries or sweet potato fries. For our set, we choose pork chop and regular fries . We didn't find anything special about these two, the pork chop was dry and flavourless and the fries were mediocre. The other sides were fried chicken (6 pieces), daily salad and cheese . We found the salad to be like any other house salad, and the fried chicken to be crispy. The cheese wasn't as satisfying as we thought it would be as it wasn't stringy. As for the main portion of the set, the DMChicken came with rice cake, potato, onion, carrot, and garlic. The chicken had so much sauce that was rather sweet for our liking. We appreciated how they balanced out the chicken with vegetables, but found their was a lot of potato. I ordered the original 5 DM chicken, which comes with rice cake, potatoes, salad, rice, and fries, and shared with my bf. The first thing I noticed about this place is that there isn't really a chicken option that caters to one person.. the smallest is the 5 DM which you'd def have to share if you want to try the chicken, otherwise you have no choice but to choose a different dish like the noodles. The sauce for the chicken was pretty good, as it was sweet and even had an enjoyable hint of spicy. I will say that I was slightly disappointed with the amount of rice cake that was include in the chicken set. The atmosphere is nice and spacious and not very crowded. The service was pretty lowkey, as they would only come to you when asked despite the fact that it was already pretty dead in there when we visited. After tax and tips, our bill came to a bit over $50 (for 2 person portions). It was an average experience, cool to try, but you're not missing out on much if you don't. I'm not sure exactly what the flavour of their Black Chicken is, but believe me when I say that you should try it. It looks like chicken that is completely burnt, but that's just how it looks like from the flavouring! It's like a very soft outer batter of blackness that is not too salty. The outside is crispy but soft and the chicken itself is extremely juicy and flavourful. I asked the waitress what the batter/flavour is, but she couldn't really tell me. She mentioned curry (I think?), but it does not have any curry taste at all. It's an airy and salty kind of flavour. The chicken is covered with this tasty sweet sauce and you can choose how spicy you want it. The smallest size, 5dm, was enough to feed 3 of us comfortably. Came here on a Friday night for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the variety available. You can get all chicken (also comes with potatoes/onions/rice cakes) with the fries and salad or you can get it with seafood on one side. We also chose to get the kimchi rice bowl where you can roll your own rice balls! That part was super cute but I wish the rice had a stronger sesame oil flavour. Maybe next time I'd try the fish roe variation of the rice bowl. The chicken was cooked in a sweet soy sauce type glaze that went really well with the bowl of rice we got. My one complaint would be the potatoes which were very hard and crunchy - to the point where I thought it wasn't cooked. The cheese ads a nice savouryness to the chicken since the one flavour can get a little boring overtime. My friend threw up twice that night after we ate here, and my stomach was hurting for a few days after too. The customer service here was absolutely terrible. The restaurant was pretty empty when we came in here, but yet the employees were so impatient and really wanted us to order asap. The menu was only available in Chinese and there were just a few words I wasn't sure of so we had to ask the waitress to explain the menu to us but she was so reluctant to do so. Then we tried to get another employee and we realized that nobody here spoke English. I don't have a problem with people not knowing how to speak English but if you're opening a restaurant in Canada, can you at least have an English menu? Overall, they were just so irritated and it made us feel very uncomfortable. Anyways... We ordered the 5DM Chicken ($40) in the original flavour which was like a honey garlic or something like that. The fries were COLD and the chicken was slightly cooler than room temperature.. even with the tiny candles under the platter. The cheese didn't taste like normal cheese you would get at korean bbq places. It had a weird consistency and tasted like.. plastic?? and it just didn't melt. We got their sweet chili spiced chicken for 2 which comes with either fries or sweet potato fries, salad, and unlimited rice. There's onions, chicken, garlic, potatoes, and rice cake in the sweet n spicy chili sauce which I really enjoyed. The cheese dip was soso not too big of a fan. The rice was the chewy Korean rice which I really like. The salad was nothing special and the sweet potato fries weren't crispy enough. They have a special going on which is 39$ for the plate instead of the regular 49$. Also if you post a picture on instagram, they will give you another 10% off. This one caught my attention cause of its uniqueness, and my parents have previously tried it and given positive reviews. I had the 5dm chicken, as I believed it had the most value. I was told that the 7.5 and 10dm orders simply had more sides added, but the chicken content was still the same. I added the fried squid and white chicken as extra sides, along with whatever came with the 5dm order. The fried squid and white chicken came first. The fried squid was quite basic. The white chicken was basically chicken with parmesan powder added. I probably won't order either of them again, and this actually cemented my decision to stick with the 5dm order. The chicken itself was really good, and the sauce was quite creamy too. I also loved the rice cakes, and kinda wished there was more. There were also onions, potatoes, and garlic; all were nothing special to be honest. Service was really good for an Asian establishment. 5dm is definitely enough if you're dining with 2-4 people. This place is actually a franchise store for a chain in asia. I believe it may be the first in toronto. The theme they are going for is korean inspired chinese style chicken joint. So we ordered the hot plate as seen in the pictures. basically what they are famous for. and boy was the price expensive. the smallest one we can find is 38.80 before tax and tip so your looking at 40 something dollars for what turned out to be not a lot of chicken, fries, salad, or food. However one would hope that the quality would take over, this however is not so much, the chicken is a little overly salty, even with the rice (which was made soggy) it was a bit too salty, the basic flavour is okay mixed with the cheese sauce, but it is still too salty in general. the salad was flooded with sauce wayy too much sauce, you actually needed more lettuce to supplement it. and the fries was not crispy. Although there was sweet potato fries, you can tell that they had pre-fried these a long time ago, and just re-heated it, which is kinda crazy considering fries aren't that expensive and your charging 40 something for a 2 person meal. the interior is nice looking and clean, and the service was okay, however the food was just not that great, and the price was way too expensive for what you get. overall i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, as it isn't really worth the price. and the experience is not unique. there are tons of korean joints that can do the same thing in toronto. i realize this place was built for a mainland chinese audience in mind, as the promotions and the staff don't really know english. i dealt with a server who spoke zero english, and promotions for discounts are all in pure chinese. unless you have a chinese friend even if you wanted to try this place, you best avoid it. read more

While the whole presentation looked really cool and insta-worthy, it was not worth the price in my opinion. For more than $100, we had expected a lot more meat but that wasn't the case. I would say that this wasn't enough for my party (3 guys and 3 girls). Might be enough for around 4 people? Essentially the whole platform consists of 2 large metal plates with a cheesy divider in the middle. One plate was kind of like Korean Dakgalbi while the other side was octopus drenched in gochujang tasting spicy sauce. On the end sides of the platform were small tasting items like 6 pieces of fried chicken, a very small portion of fries, 3 lamb chops, a fairly small patty, and 2 little salads. The food tastes ok and I liked the fried chicken. But honestly for the same amount of money, you could get a big portion of dakgalbi with so many add-ons. We ordered the 5dm (original flavour), on the pan there is chicken, potato, rice cakes, onion, carrots & garlic with cream cheese dipping in the middle and the set comes with salad and choice of fries/sweet potato fries #balanceddiet Overall the sauce was quite good, loved the rice cakes and sweet potato fries but it is nothing too too special. The chicken was heated up unevenly as they just put candles at the bottom so we moved the chicken to the hotter spots at the end. Also part of the menu doesn't have English so it might be confusing for those that can't read Chinese. I had a good time munching on all the food while catching up with a friend though. First time coming here, but I entered thinking it was chinese cuisine, after eating, seems like it was chinese style korean cuisine. The main entree chicken is very similar to jjimdak/braised soy sauce chicken. I got the 7.5 dm and it was about $75 after tax. Very pricey imo for the amt of chicken in the order. A lot of filler potatoes in the braised chicken boxes, and a lot of filler sides (fries/salad/porkchop/rice). The soysauce chicken was tasty, got to order two flavours: original and mild. I prefer the original sauce. Both are sweet and savoury and have the soy sauce base. 7.5 dm is more than enough for 4 or 5 people with left overs. I think if I come back, I might just stick to the 5 dm as it seems to have less side fillers. read more

Food is overpriced but cooked well. I ordered cheese chicken wings but it had little to no cheese. I have also tried the grapefruit fruit green tea which had no flavour to it. Service is fine and it is overall a clean environment. I would say it is decent, but not worth it. read more

Food was nothing special. Spicy beef noodle had more ham pieces than beef and noodles were very soft. Soup was okay. The red chicken advertised as spicy was literally fried chicken with jarred sweet thai chili sauce drizzled on top. At least there were 10 pieces? Fried squid... two little tentacles served up when the menu picture was clearly something different. Service was horrible. I tried to tell our waitress we didn't understand mandarin and as a response she completely ignores me and tries to get someone else in our party to talk to her. Very rude attitude. read more

Despite the mixed reviews, I decided to check it out anyways, and was super surprised by how awesome it was ! We ordered the 2nd level spicy 5DM chicken platter for $38.99. The chicken had carrots, potatoes, garlic cloves and rice cake. The cheese dip was so smooth and complimented the sweet and spicy chicken so well. It came with small ranch side salad as well. Overall I was very impressed, just wished prices were a little lower. Definitely will be back with a larger group to try other things. read more

It was savoury and sweet with a kick of spice. I liked how they have candles under the hot plate to keep it warm. The fries and salad were meh and tasted stale.
