The food taste was just ok. The noodle dish was flavorful but way too sweet. The vegetable dish had great flavor in the sauce, but could not be enjoyed by the person who ordered it. The biggest problem was that they got both of our orders completely wrong. One of which contained something that I was severely allergic to and could not eat (returned that dish). The person I was eating with is a vegetarian, and they were served ground chicken. They tempted to eat around the chicken because they felt bad about having to send another dish back. We ended up swapping dishes because it was too hard to eat around the chicken, but it shouldn't have come to that. read more

Amazing Thai spot! This place is so unassuming, nestled in a old looking house on 45th street in Wallingford. The decor inside is very inviting and homey, and the service was attentive. We got a variety of dishes for our group of five, which included dishes like: Tom Kha soup, Chicken Satay, Papaya salad, Panang, and Pad See Ew. They have a very minimal wine selection as well. So I didn't actually come and sit down to eat at this restaurant but I did order take out and delivery through EAT24 (busy day and had to work from home till late at night). I ordered the Djan fusion noodle with beef and had it mildly spicy. It was ok, wasn't too bad. I can't say it's the best I've had and it didn't wow me like other Thai places. Maybe it's just because I got take out? I also ordered the fried veggie rolls and it comes with a sweet dipping sauce. Honestly I think the appetizer was better. Wow oh wow! I have been looking all over Seattle for a Taiwanese beef noodles soup for years and I finally found it! This soup was one of the most delicious soups I have ever tasted. I'm a soup person and this is now going to be my top 3 of all soups I enjoy. I did this order as a to go order and they put the noodles on the side, so it doesn't get soggy on the way home. Definitely a 5 star soup. I also ordered a few sides to try out. One was the green onion pancake and omg this is the best I've ever had. It was light and so freaking crispy! The next was the baby bok choy with meat sauce, it was very good and they give you a big serving of it too. The last one was a marinated boiled egg and again, another tasting item. The people in the front were very nice. In conclusion, this was a very awesome experience and I will definitely be adding this as my goto for soup. TLDR; If you enjoy good Thai soup, try somewhere else. I'm big on Thai soup, and like to try new restaurants in search of a new favorite, or just to mix it up. Thus, I've tried a many local Thai restaurants. This had the second worst soups of the many local thai spots I've tried and the most watered down, Thai soups I've ever eaten. Tastes like they made one proper serving, but then divided it into at least 4x separate orders of dish, using water to replace whats missing for each. Spinach soup tasted like boiling water was poured over spinach, with no semblance of broth. I ordered it 'chicken' and there was only two small pieces... Ditto for Tom Yum/Tom Kha. Incredibly watered down with little to no taste of the main herbs for of this dish (galangal root, kaaffir, lemongrass). Needed something to fix my Thai craving and it's right nearby the highway! Do be careful if you decide to drive because their private parking area is hella small and tight!!!! I ordered some pad kew mao on the server's suggestion, as well as a Mason jar of their homemade Thai tea! Both came out amazingly beautiful with a professional level of presentation! The Thai tea came out on the sweeter side but it will be the saving grace to save you from the fires of the main dishes! The pad kew mao was phenomenal! Veggies were fresh and still had their crunch, which was also seasoned nicely with their slightly burnt soy sauce cocktail of OMG. The noodles were just the right level of tension and chewiness and had the very sought after just before burnt texture from the pan frying process. Honest to God this was good. Be wary of the spicy levels whenever you order! This place can really deliver on the spicy so cut it down by a notch if you're not looking for a snot dripping night (excellent sinus opener though) I saw many couples here on a Thursday night and can't figure out why they'd come here for a date. Amazing Thai food! Beautiful interior of restaurant with lots of sunlight. We came here two days in a row because it was so delicious. First day we had pad kee mow - 4 stars spicy. Having spent four years at the University of Washington and living on campus, I'd driven by Djan's on multiple occasions, and was always curious about it. It was such an atypical Thai restaurant. Located just off of I-5 on 45th street, it's very easy to get to, but not very central to campus and the main strip of restaurants. The vintage house turned restaurant has a sign, but made no move to remodel to look like the modern restaurants that I was used to seeing. So while I was sure it wasn't terrible, I couldn't figure out what to expect. Flash forward to this week, years and years after graduating from the UW and rarely ever driving by it, I happened to catching up with a friend in the area and dropped in for dinner. I walked in and was surprised to find that it was laid out like... well, like a house (why was I surprised by this?? It loos like a house outside too!). While there were plenty of tables, it still felt like I was eating in someone's living room, giving it an inviting, homey feel. Since it was a Wednesday night, it was pretty quiet - completely empty when I had arrived around 6pm, but several other groups had joined us shortly afterwards. The staff was pretty hands off, letting us chit chat with each other with no interruption, but still keeping our water full. Overall I was pleased with my service, as well as the cleanliness and presentation. My two friends had the regular Chicken Pad Thai, but I decided to change it up a bit and tried the Samurai Pad Thai - this was basically a Tofu Pad Thai with Tempura shrimp and some dipping sauce to go with the shrimp. When the waitress showed up with my plate, my jaw dropped a little bit - what a huge plate!! And with 5 pieces of shrimp on top of the noodles, this was definitely something I could not finish in one sitting (I had plenty left over for lunch the next day). Flavor-wise, I felt like this was a good balance - I asked for a 3-star level of spice, which ended up being a perfect balance of heat without turning it into a full on spicy dish. The next day, the noodles still tasted great. While I'm not a huge fan of these typical Thai restaurant dishes like Pad Thai, Djan's flavor was on point and one of the closest I've had to what we made at home. I'm really glad I finally got to try Djan after all these years. This Thai restaurant that breaks all the norms in terms of restaurant presentation, and takes itself at point blank - just a chill place to have great food. I think this what I liked most about it, because it doesn't try to take itself too seriously with fou fou decorations that are really just distracting. This place is located right on 45th street and there is a little parking lot behind the restaurant. If you can find street parking, I think that would be best. We ordered a samurai pad thai which was pad thai with shrimp tempura, a pad see ew with chicken, and green curry with chicken. Each of these dishes are delicious and flavorful. The first time it was 20 mins past when they told me. The second tome was 30 mins. I'm here again a 3rd time and going on 40 mins past the time and counting. I asked for an update? "2 mins," they said. That was 20 mins ago. I understand being busy, but they set pretty poor expectations. I'm bummed because I live a block away and it's close for me.
