I celebrated my puppy's first birthday here at this District Dog location with Lyssa and the team and it was FANTASTIC!! They were so flexible with me in planning and preparing. When we arrived, I was fully prepared to have to quickly set up before the guests arrived but the room was PERFECT when I got there! All I had to do was layout of the food and drinks I bought for the dogs and the humans. It was also SOOO awesome having Lyssa in the room to monitor the dogs to make sure no one got too rowdy. She made sure we had some great photos, she allowed us to hook up our speakers and again...was just really helpful the entire time. My pup and I have also taken the puppy basics class, did a few days at daycare, was groomed and did some 1 off training sessions at the navy yard location and the service has continued to be top notch! We will continue to lean on District Dog as my pup grows for a number of things! He is always SUPER excited whenever we get close. Thanks again for the amazing party!

My pup loves daycare! She plays hard and comes home exhausted. The staff are outstanding! Highly recommend!

We've had such a great experience at District Dogs and love the Shaw location! Maple just completed Puppy pre-K and Puppy Basics with Kore and she made so much progress from start to finish. Kore is an incredible trainer-- so patient, enthusiastic, and so knowledgeable. She really helped Maple come out of her shell and Maple grew to be totally OBSESSED with Kore, eager to learn from her and earn treats! The obedience commands Kore taught us and other puppy tips and tricks have been so useful and Kore has been an amazing support system throughout Maple's journey. Highly recommend all of her classes! We've also done a few private sessions with Avi who is also so amazing! When Maple was struggling with potty training when she first came home, Avi worked with us and helped come up with a plan to get Maple on track. We were feeling pretty overwhelmed those first few days, but Avi helped put us at ease about all the puppy stress. He's also worked with us on getting Maple comfortable with handling and grooming, and leash skills. He is so knowledgeable and such a kind person in general. He's answered countless of my questions via email and has been such an incredible support system along with Kore. Highly recommend working with Avi if you get the chance!

We have two reasons to love district dogs. First is the weekly daycare that our Cassie loves to go to. She gets so excited to see her favorite staff members and they are always great with her. Second, we got married this month and really wanted Cassie to be a part of pictures and greeting our guests. We turned to District Dogs since we would be boarding with them and asked for help. And boy did they help! They came up with a plan and gave Cassie a bath for her to be all ready to go. Jillian, their manager, personally made sure Cassie was on time and ready for her close up. She also handled her for greeting our guests and took her back to boarding when she was done. We could not have asked for more and can't thank them enough for their efforts. If you have a wedding coming up in DC, we highly recommend using District Dogs!

I almost NEVER leave Yelp reviews but I was so beyond thrilled with our grooming experience at District Dogs today. Our three year old Corgi is a tripod (missing a hind leg) and gets anxious easily. But the staff was so kind, making sure she had a fantastic experience. And I loved the little report card they sent after. The premises were spotless and very secure. Count us in as returning customers! Genie's smile says it all!

Our dog Ollie attends daycare at District Dogs twice a week. He is always SO excited to go and happily tired out when he leave. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The dog walking service is wonderful as well. Ollie goes for a walk two days a week with Kelly and has had a great experience.

Not sure who did this one but his face was perfect here. The body was a little low but it was fine because he was little matted.

I'm updating a previous review because afterwards, the general manager reached out to me and apologized for my experience. They also provided me a refund and a complimentary upgrade on my next visit. I recently took Kash again -- this time only for a bath but the experience was much better. He smelled fresh and looked so white. He also didn't seem scared or freaked out so I know they took good care of him. shakeyla is pretty great with him so I'll make sure she is the only one who bathes/grooms him going forward.

I use District Dogs for their pet sitting services. I have a cat who has separation anxiety, so going out of town can be stressful. Every time I use District Dogs, I end up forgetting about that stress because they take great care of my cat. I get notes about my cat's visit, and photos of him being played with and given attention. I also get notes on his food, water, and litter situations, which is comforting. As far as communication goes, they use a messaging system which contains all visit notes, but what I like most is you can respond to those notes and ask questions or engage with the staff member who is visiting your pet. This is great even if just to say "thank you". Lastly, District Dogs is always very reliable. The staff member who visits my apartment arrives consistently around the same time each visit which is also great for my cat who is very much on a routine. So, in all, I would 100% recommend District Dogs pet sitting to anyone who values professionalism, reliability, and good communication. Keep up the good work!

This is by far my favorite spot in DC for dog grooming. This staff is amazing and super-friendly. They make you and your pet feel like family. The customer service is top notch. I highly recommend this place and - especially - the grooming skill and talents of Shake... she is the only one I trust with cutting my long-haired Chihuahua's hair!

    Great bath and grooming services!

I was charged an extra $35 for grooming yet all they did was shave him down. I am not happy and not coming back.

Pebbles (blue heeler, 1.5 years old) would never listen to me, would not sit or lay still, and had a lot of other obedience issues that caused her to be stressed or confused. She was a TOUGH dog to train and I was concerned I couldn't find the solution for her to get basic concepts. This view has completely changed since working with RSK9's 3 week program. I would HIGHLY recommend them and their methods - you can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and it's made a huge difference in giving my dog the chance to find real rest at home. They send DAILY updates with photos and videos which was so nice. This isn't a regular class or something you just pay for; it's truly an investment that you and your dog will be using for the time you get to share together. Side note: it's worth doing 3 weeks versus 2 weeks. At the 2 week mark is when Pebbles really started to understand her marks and cues. From here there is so much more that can be refined and Brandi/Perry really capitalize on that threshold being crossed!

Initially we checked out the Ridgeside Instagram account and then after contacting them for additional information we decided to sign Flossie up for the 3 week board & train program. We were given our trainer's contact info in case we had any questions or wanted additional info prior to the start date. Gina picked up Flossie and for the next three weeks we got pictures and videos every day of Flossie's training progress plus also information for us to learn about the training. All of this made the transition back home easy and seamless. Gina's instructions were clear and concise and she also made sure that we understood the hows and the whys of training. Since Flossie has been home Gina reached out to see how things were going and said she was available if we had any follow up questions. We are very happy with the outcome and feel the training really firmed up our loosey goosey training up to that point. Gina gave Flossie the foundational training she needed in order for us to meet our goals with Flossie and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.

He had never been to a daycare facility before, at least not since we adopted him. I had my doubts as to whether he would gel with the experience. He's very difficult with people he doesn't know, but generally does alright at dog parks and is fine with professionals like vets and groomers, so I figured with another set of professionals he may be alright after all. And to be completely fair, he WAS difficult. They told me had to be wrapped in a towel for anyone to approach him to remove his leash and took a couple hours to actually socialize with any dogs. This guy has to go in for grooms and vet tech appointments monthly where his leash has to come off and while I have no illusions about him being a difficult dog, he is, this is the first I've honestly ever heard that removing his leash was an issue at all. Considering what followed with his return, and that this is a thing that's never come up before, it's left me wondering how much of it was truly Oliver and how much of it was the staff. When he came back to me he was squirrelly and jumping around with a very thick gauge rope around his neck. As he has severe tracheal collapse, this is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable, as anything that pulls at his neck can exacerbate his condition, or worse, completely cave in his trachea, killing him. The staff member that brought him out admitted she was new here but said that nobody from the AM shift said anything about his severe tracheal collapse, nor was she aware of it being noted in his online profile (it's absolutely a thing I made a note of, along with his medicinal schedule to treat him for this disease). She informed me that he would not be a good fit for their facility. Fair enough. An evaluation is exactly that, and if he doesn't gel I'm not obligated to their services. If that's all it was, I wouldn't be here writing a review. Instead I wanted to offer a warning for any pet owners that may have a dog with severe medical issues or concerns to consider going elsewhere where staff may be more sensitive and attentive and not outright dangerously negligent. That he's not a good fit for Playful Pack, I say the feeling is mutual.
