So clean and happy!

Very kind animal friendly staff. Always welcoming and ready to give my Hanson a great experience. Highly recommend! Hey and the are even ADA Accessible! (My Hanson is a tripod).

Ridiculous cut.
Brennan P.

DoozyDog is usually really clean, convenient, and efficient. I wanted to like it really badly. However, without being unnecessarily disrespectful or rude, I have to say that this was the worst grooming job my dog has ever received. DoozyDog, come on. Do better. My toy Australian shepherd was buzzed throughout, except for his neck and head which were left at a normal/clean and poofy 2 inch cut. It was noth even close to what I asked for when I spoke to the groomer. It is nothing like a standard shepherd/border cut. He looked so bad, in fact, that every person we passed on the walk home laughed, one even asked if he had surgery! How did this get by the staff honestly? You should be ashamed of yourselves taking people's hard earned money (which is being STRETCHED for everyone during this pandemic). It's unacceptable to pay over $70 for this service.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS If i could give a negative rating I would. We booked a simple grooming appointment and nail hair trimming for our long hair dachshund and when we picked him up his whole body had been shaved. Even worse, it looked like it had been done by a three year old. When we spoke to the manager, he said it must have been a misunderstanding. no duh? If they can mess up something this simple and are this lax on the details, I certainly wouldn't trust them to board my dog overnight.... Needless to say we are closing our account at Doozy and will no longer be a customer of theirs.

Naughty bits not cleaned up
Randolph J.

I'm increasing this review for completely outstanding service by DoozyDog, but leaving it at 3 stars for level of talent of their groomers with poodles. The gm called me and returned my money, apologized, and set up a follow up appointment for clean up. That was well above what I expected from any company and I really appreciate it. I had some anxiousness about it, but I brought the dogs in for a clean up. They had a different groomer do this. Both poodles were just brought all the way down losing any shape that was in the original cut. I'm not a Groomer, so perhaps the hair wasn't able to be saved. Ears were still not plucked, but it was reasonably even. If you have a poodle, I would just pay the extra $20 and go to Masterpiece Groomers when they open back up. The groomers at doozy seem to cut most dogs fine, but this location does not have a groomer that is worthy of a $85 cut on a poodle.

The grooming was far from what I had requested, and that isn't even considering the shaved eyebrow and choppy ears, face and body. I've tried this place twice over two years, 0/2.

BEWARE. Short: I have had my pup groomed multiple times at Doozy Dog, but have only boarded her there on 2-3 occasions. Due to the condition that my pup was in upon pickup after boarding, we will not be returning. With past boarding at Doozy Dog, Harley has been groomed prior to check out. However, during this stay, Doozy Dog forgot to groom her prior to checkout, as scheduled (the scheduling of which I confirmed both before and during check-in), and would not "fit her in" this afternoon despite the error being theirs. As frustrating and as inconvenient as this was, it was a blessing in disguise. If it were not for this failure-- I would not have seen the dried mound of feces that must have been clinging to my pup for the several day duration of her boarding (photos attached). Further, her and her belongings smelled atrocious. This begs the question as to whether this has happened in the past, and due to her grooming prior to checkout I've been unaware? I will not subject her to this again, nor do I intend to pay a premium to do so. I originally went to Doozy Dog because of their nice facility, and the fact that I could get my dog a private suite. However, these things are useless if what I experienced today reflects their usual standard of care. Note, as to the grooming issue -- they offered to schedule her next weekend. While I initially accepted, Harley's condition upon pickup resulted in my cancellation. The cherry on top, I heard someone yell her name in a harsh tone while I was waiting for her to be brought out. Again, it makes you wonder... Very disappointed.

My dog being humped by this dog 17 times.

I chose this spot because it was convenient to my house, and now that my 6 month puppy is older--it's a lot harder to "tire her out." When I did my meet and greet, there was a lot of staff around and it seemed super pro-active. Fast forward to watching the camera throughout the day, and my 6 month puppy got HUMPED 17 TIMES by this one dog while she was trying to play with a black dog. There was no staff in the play area monitoring. No matter where she went, she was aggressively stalked and dangerously mounted by this brown dog, her play partner was not spared either. Luckily both dogs submitted, but I don't think this is "healthy play" and could have easily caused a problem were it another dog. It took 7 phone calls before I reached someone to ask to separate my dog. I bet if I hadn't been watching she would have spent the rest of her time trying to run and avoid this one dog. Does doozydog support this behavior? Where was the staff? Why aren't they monitoring the dogs closer? I don't understand why it took so long to get ahold of someone and why there isn't someone to correct this behavior. I already purchase a 24 punch card, and willing to give this place a second chance and update my review as my puppy continues to go there.

Bad haircut, staff didn't wear mask and did not provide the right service for his special day.

Where do people park for a quick drop-off/pick-up? Is there off-street parking?

Parking around this area (and at 14th/Florida in particular) is always challenging... try some of the smaller streets nearby like Belmont, Chapin, or Clifton, although even this likely will require some patience and driving around a bit.

The dog was clearly in distress heavily panting and pawing at the window/door. The driver was gone for several minutes. I tried to call the business but was continuously re-directed through endless menus that ultimately led nowhere. I've contacted them online instead. PLEASE BEWARE Update: Per Rebeca's response, the driver did not step away "briefly". She was gone for almost 10 minutes and it was 90+ degrees outside. On top of that, when I finally got a response from them via email the following day, they indicated the "dog compartment had the AC was on 4" - well, the dog was not in the dog compartment. In fact, it was sitting in the passenger seat of the van with no protection, car seat, or restraint of any kind. Another red flag. Furthermore, as I waited for the driver to come back in case the dog went into greater distress and someone needed to take action to save his life, I was repeatedly calling their phone number and went through EVERY menu option just trying to find someone to talk to. In their email response, they also indicated that the dog was panting because it's "naturally anxious" - I don't know about you, but I would also be incredibly anxious if I were left alone in a steaming hot vehicle without knowing what's going on. I also have an anxious dog and there's a distinction between anxiety and overheating/borderline heat stroke panting. If the dog's owner being dropped off couldn't meet them at that moment, perhaps they should've gone to drop the second dog off first and then come back. Disappointing one customer is a lot better than putting a dog in a life-threatening situation. I would also recommend re-evaluating drop off communication procedures and scheduling. I can't speak for their other services, but please, please, think twice about using their pet transportation. All it takes is a few minutes for tragedy to strike, and at the end of the day, it's your fur baby, not theirs.

(See pictures of text exchange). Charlotte keeps what I would consider very non-standard hours (AM visits to our home range from 10a on the early side to after Noon at times). PM visits were nearly always after 10p (often times near or after midnight), and per the video our security cameras would capture, mostly consisted of her turning on our TV and sitting on our couch after feeding our cats. Twice in two years I had to text her to come on our first day of being gone as she wrote the wrong dates down in her schedule. But, overall, the cats survived (they're cats, after all), so we put up with all of these oddities instead of finding someone new. Apparently my request to her to not turn off external light switches (which was clarified and confirmed over the phone with her to obviously only mean external lights) after her doing so led to an entire freezer of food spoiling in our garage was just too much(?). To top it all off, she ended the conversation with a catty (see what I did there?) comment of "good luck finding a cat sitter for Christmas," as if she wasn't aware that this is a booming business line in DC with many qualified professionals. She was the only person in northern VA to watch a puppy. She made sure he all the attention he needed, he played with her cat and was able to swim and hang at the dog park several times! After that first visit I knew I found a gem. Once I started my new job working strange hours, her and her team were always able to accommodate me. I love that DC DOG SITTER had several options for my dog whether that be a run, a walk, or a trip to the dog park. One trip to the dog park a week made me feel way better about leaving him at home while I was at work. He would come back so pooped. DC DOG SITTER always provides photos, which put me at ease. I never once worried about allowing the team into my home while I wasn't there. They were more than respectful and would even tidy up or leave a lovely note. They always communicate and keep you in the loop. I recommend DC DOGSITTER to anyone and everyone who love their animal. They set the bar high!
