When I arrived for my dogs first grooming session at the time that was specified no one was at the front desk/downstairs in general. After sitting on the windowsill for a few minutes someone came in and I told him why I was here/when my appointment was. He was obviously the daycare supervisor and not the groomer or the front desk guy. He said he'd go upstairs to check if the groomer was there yet. While he was gone an extremely rude front desk woman entered, did not respond to my hello, and asked "dog name?" I told her someone was helping me and she said "ill be helping you" in a rude tone. After checking me in she asked "clipper size?" again with a rude tone abruptly and when I said I didn't know what that meant she told me I could stand up (since apparently there was a guide to clipper sizes on the counter). Milo's grooming turned out fine but I was anxious all day knowing he was in the hands of such unprofessional, unkind staff. We will not be going back. UPDATE: I had to reduce my review from 2 stars to 1 because someone from city dogs called me to say they're sorry that I'm "still so upset about it three months later" AKA called to tell me that I should be over it instead of offering any sort of genuine apology.

Thank you City Dogs! Took our pup for daycare and the service was a real life saver. They were prompt and flexible with our drop off and pick up time and since it was her first time in, they require a trial day where they write up a report of her activity for us. My favorite part was that they welcomed her in by putting her picture on the front door and gave us a photo of her first day!

I don't even know were to begin, I'm still in shock... I took my dog for a haircut today, it was my first time going to City Dogs. As I walked in, they asked for my dog's name and immediately took him away, they did not bother to learn anything about my dog, his breed, style, nothing. When the groomer finally came to speak with me, the first thing she asked me was "do you want me to shave him?" "No", I responded "I do not want him 'shaved' I want his hair trimmed and I want the beard to stay" "Sure, I can do that" she responded. They let me know it would take between 3-4 hours, and that they would call me once he was done. After almost 5 hours, I had not received a call, so I went back myself to check on my dog, Duko. When I arrived, they brought Duko down, and I was just in shock. I couldn't even recognize my own dog! All his personality was gone when they chopped off that beard of his. The groomer mumbled something about why she decided to chop it off, but I was so in shock I couldn't make out what she was saying. They didn't even bother to call me to say that they had decided to not listen to what I wanted and go ahead and do whatever they felt like. For 9 years my dog had always had the same haircut, up until now, when they decided to charge me $70 for the worst haircut I've ever seen. Of course, I will never be back again, I will be going back to Bonnie's Dog and Cat Grooming, because at least I know that my dog will be in good hands there.

Pernell did a great job on Bonham's first haircut. He called us before to talk about what we wanted and sent a picture as he was finishing up. I could tell he was patient with him. He gave us feedback about what Bonham wasn't used to (the clippers) and tips on how we can help him become more comfortable to the vibration and sound by practicing at home with old electronic toothbrush on his back as we pet him. Janita was great checking him in and with answering some initial questions.

I have been taking my dog Fitz to City Dogs on 18th Street for the past 6 years and can't say enough good things about the operation there. The staff is so caring and give Fitz a lot of personal attention. I love reading the report cards and how the staff notice details and cater to his unique personality! We all love our dogs like children and it's tremendous peace of mind for me to travel, knowing Fitz is happy "on vacation" at his second home. Fitz gets so excited when it's time to go to City Dogs and loves seeing all of the staff there, who are a second family to him. Thank you City Dogs for your continued great work and care for Fitz!

Sometimes I have a last minute schedule change due to my crazy life and they always seem to bend over backwards to accommodate me. Pebbles (blue heeler, 1.5 years old) would never listen to me, would not sit or lay still, and had a lot of other obedience issues that caused her to be stressed or confused. She was a TOUGH dog to train and I was concerned I couldn't find the solution for her to get basic concepts. This view has completely changed since working with RSK9's 3 week program. I would HIGHLY recommend them and their methods - you can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and it's made a huge difference in giving my dog the chance to find real rest at home. They send DAILY updates with photos and videos which was so nice. This isn't a regular class or something you just pay for; it's truly an investment that you and your dog will be using for the time you get to share together. Side note: it's worth doing 3 weeks versus 2 weeks. At the 2 week mark is when Pebbles really started to understand her marks and cues. From here there is so much more that can be refined and Brandi/Perry really capitalize on that threshold being crossed!

We ended up sending both of our boys for a six-week board and train with Kelia. It seemed to only make sense to send both dogs so they would have the same baseline training. Kelia was amazing! She kept us informed just about every day with videos and texts so we could see that the boys were happy and making progress. When Kelia brought the boys home, she spent a few hours with us, showing all the commands and techniques that she taught them, so we had a seamless transition. The "place" command alone has been lifechanging. (Although as you can see in the picture, they sometimes refuse to use separate mats, LOL.) We use the command before we feed them, initially when guests come by, and when we just need them to settle down a bit. It has reduced the stress and chaos in our house tenfold, and we actually can see the boys relax when they know they have a place to go and chill out. Kelia also gave us the tools to make leash walking and general obedience so much more successful. There are a lot of options out there for training. What set Controlled K9 apart for us was (1) our boys lived with Kelia, her family, and her dogs during training - they were not staying in a kennel and were in a real-life, loving environment, and (2) the promise of lifetime, free follow-up support. The boys have been home now for about 3 months. The training has stuck, and we feel like we really have the tools we need to make life pleasant for all of us, including the boys. Kelia has also proactively checked in to make sure things are going well, provided tips on the best way to reinforce training, and has responded quickly when we have follow-up questions, including offering a visit. Over three months later, we are still completely satisfied with the training and support provided by Controlled K9 and Kelia, and we would use them again in a heartbeat.

And this last personality trait caused several issues. She grew used to the freedom of a large property and was very resistant to being on a leash. Pulling and too excited to walk nicely. She loves playing with our 7-year-old but was too rough, jumping and nipping. She had an electric fence collar that she respected when she wanted to, and would recall when she felt like it. Our home training was ineffective as she grew older and as she started to develop new bad habits, we were looking for training options. Finding Controlled K9 for Board and Train was the best scenario as we had an upcoming month-long family trip planned. Lexie was so confident with her from the first moment that we didn't question that we were leaving her in the best hands. We regularly received pictures and videos showing her progress and we could see how our puppy was doing. It was unbelievable. After 4 weeks we got back an almost different dog. At first we were concerned that she might have lost her puppy spirit, but she returned to her cute silliness and endless affection very quickly. Meanwhile she had learned great manners. Walks on the leash without pulling. Stops when we stop. She stays at the property line and waits until we return. Runs with our child without jumping. She recalls reliably despite distractions. And no longer chases the cats. And a bonus, we can now even take her out in public easily. She calmly stays next to our table without bothering other people or dogs. She learned Respect. And while not perfectly, we have been able to maintain the learning. Thank you Lexie! And thank you Controlled K9!

Hi. Let me start out by saying Please forgive all typos and grammar errors as this isn't what my…read morereview is about. I come to tell you all the truth as to what my experience with Bark Busters is like. I got in touch with Bark Buster on August 15, 2021. What sold me on them is the guarantee life time of your dog. My puppy at meeting his trainer was a little over 9 months old. The trainer is Andy who was extremely nice. As that is to be expected when you're charging $1400 and you're trying to make a sell which I bought. Although he did give a $55 discount. Well, the truth of the matter is I feel like a fool to have given up that much money for what I received. Andy, as sweet and as professional as he was didn't do much. He gave my husband and I this sound to make which is "egh". You know like you would say to a child when they're about to get into something they shouldn't, or that could harm them. Anyway, that was it. Although Andy mentioned that we could call or text him and he said texting would be better. When I did, I felt I was being made the reason for why my dog is not doing what I want him to do. For the cost, I feel the trainer should contact you at least once a month to see how training is coming along and or make a monthly house visit to reinforce his training. Also in my opinion and what's happening in our house is, my husband and I have taken notice that your puppy will pretty much follow you and if you just be patient enough you will see his/her progress or him/her growing up as they get older mimicking your household. Needlessly to say, we probably used that "egh" sound for maybe a week when we thought about using it which wasn't often. Not because my puppy wasn't just being a pup but that you just didn't think about it. I don't know if the fact of living in SE, DC had or has any bearing on how my visitations we're going to be but after reading some other reviews, I see Andy came out somewhat frequently to you. My bottom line is keep your money. I just gave you the word to use if you choose too. Or as I stated earlier just be patient and the pooch will fall in line in time. Also, I went on the Better Business Bureau website to file a complaint and to let people know of this company's practice. What I found on the BBB website is that I'm not alone in my complaint and it's state wide. From state to states. Check it out for yourself. I know some would probably call this buyer's remorse and you would be right. However, if just a little more was done for my money then there would be no need for the negative review. Best wishes to you and your good boy (s) or girl (s). Save your money! I wish I had and that someone would have put this information out there for me. Also, Andy asked me to give a good review on our first day of meeting. I told him that I would. However, from my practice I'm in the habit of waiting to see how things go before giving a review this way you'll get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Most things are always good in the beginning or at first meeting but how is the follow through? This is what people want and need to know. Save your money and enjoy your ball of fur! Bye.

The dog was clearly in distress heavily panting and pawing at the window/door. The driver was gone for several minutes. I tried to call the business but was continuously re-directed through endless menus that ultimately led nowhere. I've contacted them online instead. PLEASE BEWARE Update: Per Rebeca's response, the driver did not step away "briefly". She was gone for almost 10 minutes and it was 90+ degrees outside. On top of that, when I finally got a response from them via email the following day, they indicated the "dog compartment had the AC was on 4" - well, the dog was not in the dog compartment. In fact, it was sitting in the passenger seat of the van with no protection, car seat, or restraint of any kind. Another red flag. Furthermore, as I waited for the driver to come back in case the dog went into greater distress and someone needed to take action to save his life, I was repeatedly calling their phone number and went through EVERY menu option just trying to find someone to talk to. In their email response, they also indicated that the dog was panting because it's "naturally anxious" - I don't know about you, but I would also be incredibly anxious if I were left alone in a steaming hot vehicle without knowing what's going on. I also have an anxious dog and there's a distinction between anxiety and overheating/borderline heat stroke panting. If the dog's owner being dropped off couldn't meet them at that moment, perhaps they should've gone to drop the second dog off first and then come back. Disappointing one customer is a lot better than putting a dog in a life-threatening situation. I would also recommend re-evaluating drop off communication procedures and scheduling. I can't speak for their other services, but please, please, think twice about using their pet transportation. All it takes is a few minutes for tragedy to strike, and at the end of the day, it's your fur baby, not theirs.
