The guys at DC DOG Sitter, Jack & Zachary, are great. They cared for our 3 dogs plus my daughter's beagle while we stayed at The LINE DC (also a great hotel) in the days surrounding our daughter's wedding. They met the whole pack beforehand, got the low down on each dog including the special needs of one whose age has brought on considerable difficulties with walking. The beagle was scheduled to appear in the wedding at a nature conservancy, but the rules there limited the allowable time to the wedding itself. Jack transported him to and from the venue in accordance with its restrictions and Jack himself was dressed as well as the members of the wedding congregation. Shortly after our return to the hotel we had some really nice pics the guys had taken of our pack during their walks. We want to warn those who may be considering using DC Dog Sitter's walking services about our very negative experience. In short, within the first two weeks of becoming our dog walker, DC Dog Sitter totally forgot to pick up our two dogs for their regularly scheduled walk. We relied on DC Dog Sitter for one thing and one thing only: ensuring that our dogs received a midday bathroom and exercise break while we are at work, and DC Dog Sitter totally failed. We have had many dog walkers over the years for our dogs, and until DC Dog Sitter, not one ever forgot to complete the crucial task of picking up our dogs. DC Dog Sitter's owner, Jenn, characterized completely forgetting our dogs as "a fairly minor mistake." This was insulting and an absolute lie, given that they fired the walker responsible for this huge problem. If your dog walker forgot to walk your dogs would you call it a "fairly minor mistake"? We think the ultimate responsibility for forgetting our walk lies not with the walker who forgot but with DC Dog Sitter owner, Jenn. She clearly has too much on her plate and lacks adequate oversight over her employees, given that hours went by past the time our dogs should have been walked and she didn't realize until we messaged her. It was clear she would not have realized that our dogs hadn't been walked if we had not messaged her. After this huge error, Jenn offered us a "free week" of walks, but we never received this promised free week despite repeated requests. Moreover, after the error, Jenn's communication was unresponsive and very delayed. She never once called us to apologize for the error and limited her communication to messaging, which is not adequate for emergencies. We also asked her for a phone number contact (we only had a messaging app) so we could quickly reach her if a future error happened and despite asking more than once, Jenn never provided a phone number. We had a question about the invoice and it took her 5 days to respond. Jenn repeatedly cited growing pains and medical issues. We are sympathetic to medical issues but this should not come at the expense of the well-being of our dogs. We paid DC Dog Walker over $1300 in the 6 weeks we used their services and in return received nothing but a bad attitude and poor service. read more

QUICK LOOK - Jenn and Team are amazing. I am so grateful Jenn came into our lives. I don't think my dog, Hoagie, would be the same if he didn't have Jenn and the DC DOG SITTER team. She was the only person in northern VA to watch a puppy. She made sure he all the attention he needed, he played with her cat and was able to swim and hang at the dog park several times! After that first visit I knew I found a gem. Once I started my new job working strange hours, her and her team were always able to accommodate me. I love that DC DOG SITTER had several options for my dog whether that be a run, a walk, or a trip to the dog park. One trip to the dog park a week made me feel way better about leaving him at home while I was at work. He would come back so pooped. DC DOG SITTER always provides photos, which put me at ease. I never once worried about allowing the team into my home while I wasn't there. They were more than respectful and would even tidy up or leave a lovely note. They always communicate and keep you in the loop. I recommend DC DOGSITTER to anyone and everyone who love their animal. They set the bar high! We used DC Dog Sitter to take care of our cats while we were gone on vacation for a week. They were great! Very communicative, as they would send messages when they were on their way to our place, and then again after they had been there, providing alot of detail and photos of what they did while they were there. They took great care of our pets, and it gave us great peace of mind as we were away, that our pets were getting attention and well cared for. They followed our instructions to a T, including watering the plants as well as all the cat-related stuff, and they took pictures of the cleaned litter box, their food, and of course our cats during their visit. DC dog sitter is a super reliable pet care company that has allowed us to leave our dog at home and ensure three walks per day during several vacations. They feed, administer pills, walk, fill up water and play with our dog on every trip. Also their app is super helpful as it sends photos and updates on your dogs pee and poop situation (pet owners, you know this is important! ) and confirms that the walker fed and provided water to the dog. They also organize fun social events for pets to get to know each other and the sitters. They are also just really professional and thoughtful. I cannot recommend DC Dog Sitter enough. From the first meeting, I was impressed by their level of professionalism, and it was immediately evident how much they care for other people's pets. They have always been very communicative--they let me know when they're on their way and when they start each visit. My dog knows the sound of the notification that they are almost to the apartment, and she immediately runs to the front door and starts pawing at it. They send a detailed report after each walk, and my dog always comes back dead tired (and she's a vizsla--this is not easy to do). They have also gone above and beyond for me. There have been several occasions when they have taken my dog out for longer than my scheduled walk or when they've doubled up her walk on a beautiful day. I don't say this to set unrealistic expectations for those reading my review but rather to show that they really do care--this is much more than a transaction. They also worked with my dog on her behavioral issues. They communicated with me when she was acting up, and they helped me rearrange her schedule so she was with a group of dogs that would be a better fit. I've noticed a dramatic improvement in her leash behavior when she is going on consistent walks. Finally, they are incredibly flexible. I have had to cancel walks, reschedule walks, and add walks, and each time, they have responded to my requests in a timely manner. In short, I would recommend DC Dog Sitter to anyone. My vizsla has been going on walks and adventures for over a year now, and I have had nothing but a positive experience. Jenn and her entire team have been wonderful with our dog. They walk him every day during the week when we are at work and he goes on "adventures" on Thursdays. The adventures often consist of hikes, trips to local parks, and over the Summer lots of swimming. We also use DC Dog Sitter for sitting when we go away. Our dog has some special needs, but DC Dog sitter has been exceptionally accommodating and understanding. When leaving DC for a new job in Boston, one of the harder things to say goodbye to was DCDS. My experience started with DCDS when I soon realized after one week of having my french bulldog puppy, that he would need two walks during day. DCDS was able to add Gus into the mix instantly and it tremendously helped me out. Gus loved all of his dogsitters, and I loved the constant feedback I was getting during his walk (I miss my afternoon G Chat photos). On top of a great walking experience, DCDS has options to add on adventure days which Gus loved, and I knew he was being watched extremely well while swimming/hiking. Jenn and the team have been amazing with our very large, very energetic rescue dog, Owen (a mastif/collie mix who weighs about 90 lbs). Even before we started using them, Tim and Brandy, who I met at the dog park were so kind and patient with me, a rather nervous new-to-big-dogs parent. We love having access through the app on where they are with him and what they're doing. There was one day that the walker had an emergency, and Owen got walked a bit late, but Jenn was very communicative and she and the walkers made sure to make it up to us (and Owen!). And if you have an energetic dog, the Adventures are the best thing since sliced bread! Owen comes home happy and tired, having gotten to spend lots of time outside with doggie friends. Jenn and Emma swooped in to take care of our puppy on a fairly last minute request. Not only was DCDS able to watch our pet, they made sure our dog was cared for in a way that allowed us to really relax -- they stayed in our home and updated us with messages, pictures and videos regularly. We have the most wonderful Golden Retriever named Souter. He is sweet, smart, fun and, unfortunately, epileptic. Before we found Jenn and DC Dog Sitter, our travel plans hinged on whether we could bring the dog, because I could not find anyone I could trust sufficiently to administer his many medications and deal with his seizures if/when they occur. Since we have found DC Dog Sitters, I no longer have any reservations or concerns in traveling without the dog. In fact, I am quite sure that he prefers going to "camp." They take him on hikes, swimming, park visits, etc. They also regularly send and post photos so we can see the fun he is having. We also receive an email each night with a short recap of what they have done and his overall state of being. My greatest fear in writing this is that they will become too busy to take our Souter when he needs to go to camp, but I received assurance that we are grandfathered with priority access. Wow! I can't say enough good things about DC Dog Sitter. They recently looked after my lab, Dinsford, when I was on a business trip. His sitter Emma and the owner Jenn were both absolutely amazing. I could tell that they genuinely cared about Dinsford, and made sure he had a blast while I was away. Lots of updates, including some Instagram tags! :) Even when some of his - ahem - bad manners came out with Emma, she handled it like a total champ. And like Jared H., my dog has epilepsy and needs regular medication - it was such a comfort to know that Emma was on top of that. I wish I could leave 10 stars. DCDS is bar none the best dog sitting service out there. What sets Jenn and company apart from everyone else is how much they cater to both you and your pet. Jenn and company are prompt and responsive with communication, and if you are pressed for time will up pick up your pet and drop them off at the beginning and end of each stay. Each member of this group LOVES animals. They cater to any particular pet diets, provide specific home remedies for any pet ailments, and make sure that each stay is a pampered vacation for your pet. However what truly impressed me about Jenn was how she worked with me when a family emergency extended my five-day puppy sitting into five weeks. Jenn fed my baby on her own dime *not charging me*, took my little girl to extra puppy play dates, checked in with me to see how I was handling everything and was thoughtful and compassionate when I was completely stressing out. I can't articulate enough how wonderful everyone was, going so far as to pick me up from the airport and leave me and my Scarlett a little goodie basket when I got home.
