The pup is a Malshi and she has an adorable coat, and we were very specific about not wanting her fur cut too short. They did a great job of trimming her and cleaning her very well. Witnessed the proprietor throw dog poop onto the sidewalk. When confronted and asked to clean it up, she got huffy and said "it's a public park." Refused outright to pick up the poop. Have photos of the van with the license plate with the poop outside the van. Gross. I'm a dog owner and I will NEVER use this business because of the way they treat my neighborhood. We called in late May and received an appointment for July. When the female groomer arrived, she was in a foul mood. I delivered our 9 pound pet to the van. The female groomer was so unfriendly. It took all of 21 minutes to shave our very calm pet. No bath,, just a shave and lots of sighs from the groomer, who clearly hates her job. We paid the $150, tipped her, thanked her, said the cut looked nice and the groomer said nothing. The trim was fine, but what an unpleasant 21 minutes. Our pet was no issue at all, very docile, no push back, just minimal panting- The job was simple as the last trim was in March. A good attitude goes a long way with humans and owners. My groomer was Fabiola. She was absolutely excellent and precise. I had a nervous dog with horrible matts all over and Fabiola was able to handle the challenge and overcome all obstacles my dog threw at her (he can be a handful, specially with new people!!) I used to take my doggie to Petsmart but I could tell that the employees dreaded our visits. Anyhow, I recommend this grooming service and I 100% recommend you ask for Fabiola. Amazing groomer! No. Don't. Initially, we used their mobile service a few times with sort-of okay results. The groomer with whom we started out was nice (same one each time), our dog responded well to her, and the cut was generally in line with what we'd wanted. (Price was different each time, though). Then it went all wrong. The groomer we'd liked left the company, and we asked who else would be good for our non-shedding, curly-haired dog. So what we got was a nearly silent groomer who didn't seem interested at all in what we asked for, and didn't have much knowledge about grooming a dog with a coat like ours. The next time, we asked for someone else. The person who came was a guy who talked non-stop when he came to the door, and again when he brought our dog back in. I mean, non-stop such that he was't taking any cues (even direct ones!) that he needed to leave. He was an "expert" on everything, yet did a lousy job on our dog, not bothering to deal with any of her (minor) tangles, just basically shaving her down and telling us she was extremely matted (she was not). And her rear end was incredibly irritated because of how he'd shaved her there. I was slow to learn, and too eager to have mobile services, because I scheduled another appointment, asking for someone else (again). Same guy showed up, two hours(!) late, saying he'd been told the wrong time and the wrong address. Our dog was initially excited to have someone come to the door (as usual), but when she saw the groomer, she went into another room (which is very unusual). She very clearly did not want to go with him down the front walk and into the grooming van, and she's always eager to go anywhere, any time, with anyone. I should have just stopped it then and sent him on his way. And this time, the grooming was really, really bad. Uneven, with long straggles of fur sticking out; a cut on the top of her snout; irritated bum again; a cut between her pads; he forgot to "express" her; he put extra "perfume" on her despite our clear request... and more. I made an appointment with them online and requested a weekend appointment because I work till late during the week. Groomer arrived at 8am on a Saturday morning in her amazing looking van (both inside and out) and did a great job with my sweet pooch. What impressed me the most, was the fact that the groomer was able to do this in about 1 hour. My precious pup was clean, unharmed (we had bad experiences with other companies) and smelling great. I just got my little Yorkie groomed by them and he turned out great! I was at work so my boyfriend was home and awaiting their arrival. They called him and came to pick up our dog. They parked their mobile grooming vehicle about a block away and our dog was calm the whole time. He didn't have to wait in a cage for his turn, it was all about him. The cut turned out great and they did an awesome job with the nail cutting. For our dog, it cost us about $75. Having just moved from Virginia into DC that's the best price I found so far. At the Petco in Virginia I went to I was only charged $45 whereas here at the Petco in DC I was charged $90+! Because of the convenience and the great job they did, I'm going to continue using them. This place turned my once adorable puppy into something that now resembles a giant rat. I booked an appointment with Bark in Style for a trim, and they ended up shaving her. She also has several cuts, so I now have to take her to the vet to ensure they're not infected. This place overcharges for the crappy service they provide, and the additional vet bills I'll now have to pay are really the cherry on top. Don't take your pet here. I was fine with the overall service. They did a nice job on our dog. The first thing you notice is that the truck is new, clean and almost clean enough to be shocking. It was the most orderly grooming situation I have ever seen. Usually, groomers salons are a mess. They park out front, or in your driveway and you bring your pooch out there. You can then go about your business. Our dog, which has hair not fur, took about 50 minutes to wash, dry and brush out. They trimmed her nails (though not that close--its nice when a groomer takes time to really get in there and make them as short as possible) We did not have her hair cut. I let them trim around her eyes with the promise they would not do it with the clippers. I hate the way most groomers shave the dogs snout on top. They kept their word and she looked good.(I like her to look natural, not manicured). They were late, which kind of pissed me off. They called my phone at 11:59 and I missed it, though someone was home waiting for them. The appointment window was for between 12 and 1:30. Their message was at 11:59 saying they were finished early, could they come now. I did not really understand how they were going to be 1 minute early--why were they calling? Otherwise they said they would take someone in-between us and their last doggie. I called back at 12:30 but they did not pick up their cell. It reminded me of why I will NEVER buy anything from Sears appliances. Don't call, just come when the appointment is scheduled. Cell phones don't always ring, or you miss that it is going off in your pocket while you do something in the garage,etc. What good is the appointment if I have to then confirm what I already agreed to do? (I feel like I am in a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode) They came at 2 and that was OK. But if I'd known they would come about 2 I'd have worked my day's list of activities differently. The cost was high for what we had. She was $95 for wash and comb out--she did have a few tangled areas. She is 25 pounds with hair that is about 2 inches long. (Bone Jour would have been about $75ish) I did not have to leave her at the groomer and that was a plus--dog-flu is really going around and I wanted to avoid the other dogs. $95 for 50 minutes and a little bit of travel seems like a lot. read more

He is always in a good mood after getting groomed. The haircut was good but at the end of the grooming (unfortunately after paying and tipping) I noticed that my little dog had her right eye bloody and swollen (you can see the picture), when I asked what happened, the guy lied, he told me that he noticed it before(I was sure my dog was perfectly fine before the grooming) and that it was a cherry eye for sure. ...Anyway, we went to the vet that evening and she told me that it was a trauma, not a cherry eye!!..then..After some hours I noticed that there were also 2 scratced nipple! My husband scheduled this spa day for our dogs. Wow...I may never want to groom my dogs myself again. Manuel did an outstanding job. My dogs like almost anyone, and Manuel was no exception. They soaked in a bubble bath had a mani-pedi, and my black dog got the cutest haircut ever. My yellow dog sheds like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Manuel used the furminator on Daisy and I can't find any loose hair on her. Really happy clean dogs, and all we had to do is part with a little money. I used the Rockville branch of Bark in Style mobile groomer. They arrived early, and was finished in a little less than an hour. The groomer didn't take any time to discuss with me how I would like my dog to look. She just took him from me and said she would make him look like his breed (??) and they'd be done in about an hour. I asked if she would grind his nails, and she agreed. When I picked him up I noticed that he didnt look much different, just a little trim in the front, and on the tail, but I assumed she had done everything that was supposed to be done. She also put his harness on upside down making it awkward to walk him home. Not a big deal, but , you work with dogs for a living, and leave a harness on a dog upside down without correcting it? I paid, tipped her, and thanked her, just dismissing these things, and thinking that I'm not a professional, what do I know? I was sure she did her job correctly. One month later, my dog has been found to have horrible mats in his undercoat. I took him to a new groomer who said that if the groomer in January had done their job properly, this would not have happened. She also noted that his nails were very long, as if they had never been cut within the last month. Sadly, my dog is now having almost his entire coat shaved off today. If Bark in Style would have done their job, this would not have happened. I highly do not reccommed this comany. I realize that their are different groomers, and perhaps some are better than others. I got my golden retriever groomed by Bark in Style a couple of months ago. They were prompt, very polite, and left her looking great. The problem was that she developed an unsightly (and VERY costly to treat) skin infection immediately afterwards that the vet believes was due to unsanitary grooming instruments. Now, I hesitated to write this review because I have no proof of this, it's just the vet's hypothesis. But in retrospect, I didn't even think to check out what the van looks like inside or ask about how often they clean the instruments. I would warn others not to make that same mistake. I used Bark-n-Style for two years for my small dog. I spoke at length with the groomer after each grooming session about how my dog did. The last session the groomer said how great my dog was now doing with being groomed and how far she has come, which is true since my dog is a rescue from a very cruel background. A week later I took my dog to the vet for a check-up and I noticed that one of her nails was long (her hair covers all her nails). I asked the vet tech to please trim that nail. The vet tech brought my dog out and informed me that her nails were so long that they were nearly piercing her paw pads. I was so angry that the groomer failed to trim her nails. I contacted the owner and I was told that the groomer had problems cutting my dogs nails and just didn't do it. I was then told that I should find another groomer for my dog's health reasons. I wouldn't use this groomer again, or recommend them. I would not have had a problem if the groomer had informed me that she was unable to cut my dog's nails. I would have taken her to my vet where they had no problem cutting her nails. read more

We had a good experience with Bark in Style mobile pet grooming. We live in North Bethesda, MD. We have two medium-to large sized mixed breed dogs who do not like being groomed. We took them to the groomer at Petsmart only to have the groomer tell us that they were too wild and they couldn't groom them and to never bring them back again (???) After that terrible experience I didn't know what to do so I thought a mobile pet groomer might be better - and it was! They brought the van to my house and both of my dogs were happy and clean - she even managed to clip their nails which is basically a miracle; no one has ever been able to do that before. I am very pleased. She said the dogs were very well behaved which is basically unbelievable. My dogs emerged from the van looking happy and clean. I will say, we did not have our dogs' hair cut or anything fancy like that - just a simple wash, tidy up and nail clipping. I will be using them again in the next week or two. I would give this 5 stars except they are always booked up so far in advance and it is kind of difficult to schedule or reschedule an appointment. It usually involves a phone call then a call back. Both times I have ended up scheduling something during the work week just to be able to get something and even then you have to schedule it really far in advance.... But I just figure that is because they are popular and provide a good service. The staff seems very friendly. read more

Their website describes them as attentive and caring, but this is just discrimination, especially for a dog that is in good shape at age 12. This is a great company. Grooming was very good and the price is reasonable. They gave me an appointment about a week out, and arrived right when they said they would! The groomer did a really great job and even identified a few issues my dog had that the vet should take a look at. My dog smells great and her trim was beautiful and there was no underhair left at all when I tried to brush her afterwards just in case. The groomer trimmed the hair on her feet exactly as I wanted. I went in to check on my dog while she was in the van and through the window I saw her just standing on the grooming table wagging her tail. She didn't seem to mind the grooming at all. The only thing that might help would be if they could text you when they are 15 minutes away or so from your house, so you can run out if needed. Although if they are always just on time like they were today, I guess that wouldn't matter. read more

My baby girl Bella is always well taken care of and left looking like a mini doggie diva. Been using this mobile grooming service for about a year now. My shih tzu gets groomed every 4 months. I use to take her to Petsmart in bethesda whom were also really good. The only thing is that she would have to be there for hours and left in a cage. My baby is never in a cage at home so it's scary for her. And having her in an unknown environment for so long gives me anxiety. Decided to look for other options and found this place. I previously I had three other groomers including Jerrod. I am satisfied with the grooming he does and my baby is left in perfect conditions. And since I had witness bad handling at Petsmart in white flint I do not like any groomer to get close to Bella. I have to trust you to allow you to be with her alone. She is my sunshine. And the way I have seen Jerrod with her is great so I always request him on my appointments. Heather, whom I believe is the owner is great on responding to emails and giving options for appointments. For the past two years I get her groom for the holidays and I wanted to try my luck for 12/3 since I am off. No opening were open and Jerrod was not available until late December. heather gave me many options, which I had taken one for next week which was cool cause my sister would be home. I got a call early morning today 12/3 from heather wondering if I was still interested in the appointment for today at 11 on short notice which I immediately said yes!. I understood at 11am so at 10:30ish I took my two babies out on their walk and Matthew the groomer was already outside! He came out and I told him I would just walk them and give him one to start working. On the way back my chihuahua whom was getting only his nail trim started getting mad and out from his harness as Matt tried to get him. Poor Leo it was going to be his first time but we decided it would only be Bella's turn. My sister can continue to trim his nails. I checked my email and the appt was at 11:30am and he arrived 1 hour early, which to me was great cause I got to speak to him before I left to my hair appt. my sister sent me pictures which Bella looks perfect. They gave me an arrival time frame of 3-4:30 (which I think is a long time) so I left work early that day in order to greet the groomer. 5 pm comes around and nobody had returned my calls, emails or showed up. A while later I received an email apologizing and saying that the dog they had groomed was in a very bad shape and that's why the groomer would be late. So the groomer was not even on his/her way yet? Why give such a long arrival time frame if you're not going to keep it anyway? Bark in Style is absolutely amazing. I have been using them for many years to groom my dog, 20lb Shih Tzu mix. First, Trevor and Andre are incredibly responsive, very quick, to emails and to scheduling. Most importantly, the quality of service and grooming is amazing. I have been a repeat customer of Michelle for a long time and will only see her. She does a fabulous job regarding the cut. Additionally, she takes her time talking to me to listen to what I want and my instructions, of which there are typically many due to my dog needing no water in his ears and so on. The reason for this review now instead of years prior is because she actually just caught a very serious medical issue that I had been missing for some time. Michelle noticed a yellow flakiness coming from his front paws and said she thought it might be an allergic reaction and to check on it. I sent photos to my vet who said to come in right away. Turned out to be a bacterial infection AND a yeast infection, and my dog is on 3 medications for 2 weeks. The vet said he had had this for weeks and it is one of the worst cases she had seen. Michelle literally saved my dog and stopped his illness from getting worse and his pain, and I had very unfortunately missed it and would have missed it. She really is amazing. read more

We used Bark in Style on several occasions and were generally pleased. They arrived on time and were generally responsive to our requests. This most recent time they completely disregarded my request to not shave the dog. He came back shaved. I agreed to pay for 50% of the service given it was clearly in contrast to what I asked for. The owner then followed up telling me that he could no longer work with me because I only paid 50%!!!! Are you kidding me, you don't want to work with me?!?! Clearly they seem to have run into this situation before and don't care much for customer retention. PS...we had standing appointments for the remainder of the year...they didn't care.
