I took my 6 month old Rottweiler puppy to Brandi and Perry and I just want to say it's a complete 180 from when I brought her she was reactive to her surroundings and had little structure which made simple tasks like walking her and having her reliably going to the bathroom was a nightmare I appreciate the time and dedication they took to get her to where she's at today. I would highly recommend if you are worried about having a dog that you can't control reach out to Brandi and Perry they do wonders. I went with the 3 week board and train. I received update picture everyday and was in contact with them the whole time which gave me a peace of mind.

I had an amazing experience with this dog training service all due to Zach. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and really cared about helping my dog learn and grow. Not only that but he was eager to teach me how to communicate better with my dog. Zach sent me constant updates with plenty of pictures and videos. I really love to see that he put so much time into working with my dog; he brought him out to stores, hiking, socializing with other dogs, and even in his house to work on proper house manners. He provided clear instructions and personalized tips that made a huge difference in my dog's behavior. The real show of this amazing training was that my dog came back extremely happy, he seemed like he really enjoyed his training. I highly recommend using Zach !!!!

We are beyond grateful for the amazing work Brandi and Perry have done with our dogs (Lia & Kai). The change we've seen has been truly remarkable! Their professionalism, knowledge, and passion for training shine through in everything they do. They took the time to understand each dog's personality and tailored their approach perfectly. We've noticed such a positive and dramatic improvement in behavior and confidence. We did a three week board and train for our pups! We highly recommend Brandi and Perry to anyone looking for dedicated and effective dog trainers -- they've truly made a difference for our family and our pups!

We used Ridgeside K9 (Raleigh area) for the two week training course and couldn't be more happy or impressed! Our little boy, Max is a one year old golden retriever. We had him trained about three months ago. He was a really good boy and mostly a good listener, but still needed training to get the puppy stubbornness gone and lock down the consistency of listening and following commands, especially prior to our newborn arriving. Well, ask and you shall receive! Stephanie was our trainer and did an amazing job with Max. From heeling and focusing on walks, to being on place when told, to the energy levels being lower when needed, and listening to commands have all been implemented. Ridgeside uses an "EZ Educator" collar and let me tell you, this is amazing. It's not a shock collar, but does send a simple vibration or sound that works great to train and get attention. This tool is wonderful and we are so happy it was introduced. Fast forward to go-time for the birth of our daughter. We wanted to leave Max with either my dad or Stephanie, as Ridgeside also does boarding. We figured it would be nice to have my dad at the hospital and not have to worry about him coming and going for our little guy. Stefanie was so incredibly flexible with my constantly changing birth situation, and when we were sent to the hospital after a doctor's appointment for an unplanned induction, she was at our house in less than two hours to pick up our boy. I know he's always in great hands with Stephanie. I couldn't be more grateful for Stefanie and the Ridgeside team. I highly recommend this investment, and I hope this review helps someone with their sweet pup!

Ask the Community - Ridgeside K9

My six month old puppy that I just got is not housebroken and it's not responding to my attempts to train him. I take him out on a regular basis every hour Is this something you can fix?

Yes and no. Potty training is all about management. Yes, a set schedule will dramatically help a young dog. But also managing when you are feeding, watering, breaking, excitement, fitness, boundaries, and marker training all combine to make potty…

We just adopted a young dog - about 18 months old - he's great with me and my wife, but super aggressive to my 20yr old son. He'll mark inside the house after excessive barking. Is this something your organization can help me with?

Yes. absolutely. But this will be comprehensive. Training will establish communication, clarity, boundaries; however, the entire family including your 20 year old will need to be an active part of the solution.

Would this boarding-type of training be useful if my dog is only aggresive/reactive when he is with his mother on walks? With others (ie-myself, vets, boarding) he seems to be…

They have multiple training options to choose from to meet your needs. The core of any training program they have is to teach you and your wife how to communicate with your dog. It sounds like your dog doesn't know how to "be a dog when she…

Is your organioation tax-free or tax-exempt?

No. We are for profit company and unfortunately pay WAY to much in taxes...

The abundance of 5-star reviews reassured us, and we even scheduled a one-night trial stay to test it before our longer family trip. During that visit, we were promised strong communication, regular photo updates, and a high standard of care while we were away. Sadly, our actual experience was the complete opposite. While traveling in Asia, we were told we'd receive regular updates. Instead, we got only three photos over a span of 10 days--and only after multiple follow ups and texts from our side. The lack of communication and unease made it difficult for any of us to enjoy our trip and we knew something was not right. When it came time for pickup, the owner was not even present. Just a few hours before we landed, we received a text informing us that our dog was injured and her teenage son would be there for pick up. There was no explanation, no phone call, no attempt to take responsibility, and not a single follow-up to check on how she was doing after. It felt cold, negligent, and deeply unprofessional. We later learned the injury was a torn ACL requiring surgery. What's most upsetting is that we had clearly disclosed a prior ACL injury in the intake paperwork--on the opposite leg. That information was either ignored or not reviewed at all. There was no transparency, no apology, and absolutely no concern for how serious the injury was. We chose Sugar Maple Farm because we wanted a safe and trusted place. When something went wrong, there was no accountability--only deflection. That trust was completely broken. It's devastating to watch our dog struggle with pain and limited mobility, and to know she now faces a 12-15 week recovery from a surgery that may have been preventable with proper care. We came home expecting to see her happy and healthy. Instead, we're managing a serious injury with no answers on what happened. If you value your dog's safety and well-being, I urge you to look elsewhere. Sugar Maple Farm may have glowing reviews, but our experience was proof that when things go wrong, this facility does not step up.

Every booking, every pet, every time: more signatures and "agreements" than a mortgage closing. Somewhere there's a lawyer who's never met a dog and decided the real threat to this business is the guy who's paid them loyally for three years. You carefully fill out the entire grooming form online, pick every option -- then show up and they shove a paper copy across the counter to sign the exact same thing again. And after all that paperwork, they still claim they don't have the phone number they've had on file for three years and called me on before. Let's put this in perspective. I can order dinner to my door in two taps -- Reorder, Apple Pay, done. A stranger drives hot food across town on the strength of my thumbprint. But dropping off dogs these people have known for three years apparently requires a signing ceremony and a fresh liability waiver every single visit. In 2026, that's not caution. That's a business that's forgotten how to trust its own customers. And then there's the membership -- the crown jewel of contempt. They took a system that worked and actively torched it. Gone are the daycare credit packs: fair, flexible, buy-what-you-need, the way a business treats people it respects. In their place, a pricier monthly "membership" that auto-drafts your card whether your dog walks through the door or not, with no rollover for the days you paid for and never used. Read that again: you pay, they keep it, your dog gets nothing, and they call it a perk. It's not a membership -- it's a standing withdrawal from your bank account with a bow on it. It punishes the exact people who kept this place in business: the regulars whose lives don't run on a fixed weekly schedule. Some months my dogs come once, some months five times, because that's how actual life works -- and this program is built to make sure I lose either way. It doesn't serve pets. It doesn't serve owners. It serves a spreadsheet, and it treats every loyal customer as a recurring charge to be maximized rather than a person to be valued. It is, top to bottom, the most openly hostile "loyalty" scheme I've ever been asked to fund. When customers spend more time signing forms and fighting your billing than petting their dogs, you're not a pet resort -- you're a law firm with a kennel attached. Take your pets somewhere that still remembers what the word "customer" means.
