We've been going to Santa Fe to visit my mom in law for the past six years and we finally found an absolute favorite restaurant! We celebrated my husband's birthday there last night on the new patio. The food was phenomenal (we had chateaubriand, another steak, and seafood sampler as well as mussels and risotto for appetizers), the drinks were delicious and served in such a fun way (Love Bubble and Hello Kitty), the service was impeccable, the owners were friendly and both came to chat with us, and the DJ was playing the best tunes! Two absolutely phenomenal visits back-to-back days. Our first visit was solely to have a drink off of the Margarita Trail, the Love Bubble (I believe). The delicious drink menu, the presentation of all of our drinks, the two plates that we (four people) grazed on, and the service were all so great that we ended up staying for around 2 - 2.5 hours trying different things. The waiters were all kind and very friendly. They would walk by our table multiple times with drinks and plates that looked great and we would ask them afterwards what it was and they always [very kindly] gave the best descriptions. On the way out, we talked to the owner (Andy, I think) and we gave him compliments on his restaurant. It was at that time that we saw the Happy Hour (HH) menu by the door. We told him that we 'might' come by the next day and check out HH. Without hesitation, he gave us his business card and told us to send him a text if we are stopping by and he will save us a table. Right there we knew we were coming back the next day. We sent Andy a text the following evening around 345pm and said that we are going to be there in about 20-30 minutes. When we arrived, he kindly greeted us and told us he has our table ready for us. The Happy Hour menu was outstanding, probably the best that I have ever experienced for such a nice restaurant. For our party of four (only three drinking), we ended up staying around 1.5 hours and having around eating 14 Happy Hour food options and had around 9 or 10 drinks. There were only two or three food options that we did not have. Without a doubt, it was the BEST HH that we have experienced. As expected, the HH food portion isn't as large as an entree, but it is definitely the perfect size to share with your table to snack on. By far, our two trips here have to be some of the best dining experiences that we have experienced while traveling. I will absolutely recommend Dinner For Two to anyone that I find out is visiting Santa Fe. Outstanding atmosphere, service, food, and drinks. read more

This was my 3rd visit in many years. The food was outstanding! We had filet with pomegranate reduction that was superb. Cooked to perfection. The sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus were delicious. The service was excellent as well. My only complaint is that the website said they offered chocolate dessert but they did not. We had a wonderful bottle of Jordan cab but no chocolate to end the experience. I was super disappointed. Still the only complaint I had. My aunt lives in a small rural town in northwestern Missouri. There are three restaurants in town, the "fanciest" being Betsy's Café, where they try to hide the outdated décor and peeling paint with tinsel garlands and Christmas lights year-round. They serve chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, meatloaf, and pork chops. The have a salad bar with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, croutons and your choice of Thousand Island or Green Goddess dressing. The service is friendly and you're treated like a special guest. Dinner for Two is Santa Fe's version of Betsy's Café, minus the friendly service. We showed up on time for our reservation. We had to stand in a crowded vestibule with about six others waiting for tables. No one acknowledged our presence for 15 minutes. When they did, they said it would be a 10-minute wait, which turned out to be 20 minutes. As I was standing there, waiting for our table, I noticed the well-worn, dingy surroundings, complete with tinsel garland and Christmas lights, half of which were burned out. We were seated at the worst table in the restaurant, right next to the bus station. They set up the four-top for the two of us, facing the bus station, so we had to move the table settings to the proper position, facing into the restaurant. Our waiter didn't understand what "bottled still" water was, and we had to wait 10 minutes before we got a bottle of Acqua Panna. We were told there were out of two cocktails on the menu (how does a restaurant/bar run out of cocktails???). We ordered the crab cakes for our appetizer, which came out quickly and were passable. That's when things started to really go downhill. I ordered the veal marsala and my husband ordered the veal piccata. My husband's veal piccata didn't have a single hint of lemon and my veal marsala had nary a mushroom on the plate. Both entrees came with a glob of mashed potatoes and some sliced zucchini and some raw tomatoes and raw peppers. The plates looked exactly like something you'd see at Betsy's Café. When my husband asked about the lack of lemon in his dish, the manager said, "We don't do traditional here." When my husband explained that he was expecting something different, the manager, instead of graciously offering to comp his entrée, got defensive and demanded, "Did it taste good? What exactly do you want me to do?" For dessert, we ordered the bananas foster, prepared tableside. The woman making it stirred the bananas in the pan so hard, that 3-4 slices came out and landed on the floor. No acknowledgement or apology about that. Those slices of banana stayed on the floor until my husband pointed them out to our server, who cleaned it up. Bottom line: This is an outdated, dingy and unfriendly place. I can't imagine why anyone would choose to dine here. read more

Decided to try this place for the first time because a friend suggested it for restaurant week. First, I had never considered trying this place because the name "Dinner for Two" gives the false impression that only parties of two can be served. Overall, this place has very impressive and attentive customer service. The food was really good as was the ambiance. Depending on your dining preference, this place is a bit on the upscale side. I gave a rating of 4 stars because the experience was good but, I was taken aback because there were just two of us and a gratuity fee was automatically added to our bill. It seemed as if the establishment didn't trust that on our own, we would tip appropriately. The tip was more than earned but, it was the principle of the matter for me.Unless I'm with a large party, I don't like gratuity being automatically added. Also, the parking is down the street and not close by which for an upscale place, makes high heels uncomfortable to walk in to get to the restaurant. I say try this place if you like a more upscale dining experience, don't mind a walk to the restaurant, and are okay with gratuity being added to your check. Overall good experience just a few things I wasn't fan of here. read more

Never been to Santa Fe and my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary week at a number of high end restaurants. The "Prime" ribeye steak was honestly the toughest piece of meat I've ever had. We've dined at many restaurants all over the US and was surprised that a Steakhouse that was supposedly the top steakhouse in Santa Fe had prime ribeye that was that tough. It was a 3 star meal but the waiter made good on it by changing to another type of steak plus my wife liked her Idaho trout so I couldn't give it 3 stars. The area around is a bit off-putting for a fine dining restaurant so not quite the ambiance we were looking for. read more

I had the NY strip, I asked for a medium rare and it came out rare on one end and overcook on the other, the steak came out with mashed potatoes and fries on top of the mashed potatoes a horrible creation. My husband and I had dinner here two nights ago and it was absolutely extraordinary in every possible way: We got the best seats in the house which are the two bar seats at the end closest to the front door. This allowed us to observe the kitchen which is like observing an orchestra at the Philharmonic. Not only do the chefs clearly enjoy what they do but what they produce is absolutely exquisite in flavor, presentation and perfect temperature. Kate is not only the most creative bartender/mixologist I have ever come across in my 27 years of imbibing (we eat out and travel a lot) she is also incredibly kind, funny, thoughtful and an excellent server; thank you Kate! My wife and I had a pleasant dinner while visiting Santa Fe, NM. The last time we were in Santa Fe was over 25 years ago - during our honeymoon. At Dinner for Two, my wife enjoyed two Midnight Margaritas and the I sipped a measure of Macallan. She said the margaritas were tasty. The bartender did a good job. The Squash blossoms were amazing. The lettuce chunks in the Caesar salad were too large and hard to fit in a normal bite. Also, the salad was poorly tossed which caused the dressing to be unevenly distributed and the 10oz prime rib was cold when it arrived at the table. It took 10 minutes to meet our waiter, then bread was delivered before our drink order was taken. Waiter seemed distracted even though we came at the end of the evening. I would have thought Owner would acknowledge any soldier who has protected our country. Waiter notified owner who wasn't interested in acknowledging us. When I asked about turning down the music owner simply responded "it won't change". No interest in accommodating comfort of customers. Wonderful food, good serving sizes, not too big, not too small. Wonderful ambience -- very romantic. Our server was just "okay" could've been more attentive, but he wasn't awful... Just average. The crab cakes were just ok but the filet mignon was wonderful!! On par with a $200 Kobe beef steak I had once! Not as good, but close. Tender and well flavored! My husband and I just arrived into town for the week and decided to try this place out for dinner. Absolutely fantastic choice! We were there on a Sunday night and they have a three course special on Sundays that is simply amazing. All of the food we had was delicious! And the staff were great as well! All staff were wearing masks and gloves and all tables were 6 feet apart. We felt safe and had a great dinner as well! Definitely try out the Tres Leches cake. That was the best ending to a great meal! Will definitely be recommending to others who travel through here as well. read more

This is one of the places we've wanted to try since moving to Santa Fe a year ago. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. And there are so many other great places to splurge for dinner in Santa Fe. The decor needs some updating. Background music was loud and distracting. We ordered steak skewers with chimichurri; it was a salad with two toothpicks housing a total of three small nuggets of meat. The crab stuffed trout (entree $29) wasn't really stuffed--there was some crab in the top sauce. The mussels in a tomato broth (entree, $28) was appetizer size and in more of a tomato paste, served with two pieces of pesto topped bread. Two of my mussels were closed, and two had broken shells (pieces of which ended up in my mouth later). The 2018 Dolcetto Italian wine was delivered as a 2019. The waiter poured the first glasses; I refilled the rest. I don't think our water glasses were ever refilled. Maybe a Happy Hour drink on the patio in the future. But I can't say we will return for dinner. read more
