    Bourbon Bread Pudding!
    La'Trevia H.

*visiting from Houston* This restaurant is located inside the hotel. It is an upscale eatery. There's outside seating available but if you have to get your own drinks and your drinks will come in a plastic cup (glass breaks, people are barefooted, kids are around). I decided to sit at the bar. There was only one bartender but he was good and quick. Service was good! Can't complain! I ordered the Blue Thunder but it was yummy and refreshing; I would recommend that if you're wanting something light. I got the Chef's Pasta of the Day-from the looks of it, it looks bland but the TASTE was very very good. I was surprised but I was expecting it to be bland and not flavorful. For dessert, I got the Bourbon Bread Pudding! I was pleased to know that it didn't have raisins! A WINNER!!! I wish it was a little more moist but overall a good taste and consistency.

Nice dinner at Red Sage. We were visiting Buffalo Thunder and decided to grab dinner. Very nice place in the casino/hotel. Service was exceptional and food was good. The drinks were the highlight! Really nice.

Let me say one thing I'm noticing lately around all eating establishments, including fast food. Not enough workers. This trickles down to waiting longer for a table, waiting longer for your food, limited menu options in finer eateries. I've talked to owners and the consensus is there is a labor shortage due to the stimulus money flowing and inflated unemployment pay outs. The government is paying people to stay home. This is not good for the American Dream. Lack of motivation and creating dependency on the government is basically communism. Doesn't work in any country and it most certainly won't work here in the US. Ok. Rant off. Here is my review: We were seated then our waiter went awol. Seriously nowhere to be found. In his defense he was the bartender, busboy, and probably helping in the kitchen. I saw two people in kitchen. The tables next to us both received their food before us. We had to ask where our food was? 45 minutes still no food. Whomp whomp. Food: pizza very good. Crust had a nice beer taste to it. Slightly burnt crust but overall yummy. Southwest chicken salad - was good once I got the missed salad dressing and blue cheese. That took a while since once again our waiter disappeared after food came out. Sea Scallops- I didn't try but those who did said very good. Shrimp cocktail and calamari- people who ate it thought it was good. Beef Sliders - very tasty. Came with potato chips that seemed house made? Before the you know what, this place was rocking with their menu. I'm sad I didn't get to try it.

Love the food and service. We ordered the Tumbleweed salad, Ribeye and crab cake as appetizer. I will definitely order tumbleweed salad and ribeye again. Crab cake is ok. We also ordered Baker Alaska for dessert. It's marshmallow whip that covers a large scoop of dulce de letche ice cream and a slice of cake on bottom. It's so good!

As usual I wait until the last minute to make reservations for Christmas Dinner. We decided on Red Sage for something different. An hour long drive in a sunny day wasn't too bad either. We arrived and following some simple directions found ourselves at the entrance. Quickly directed to our seats with menus to look over. For the holiday the menu was simple -Prime Rib, Chilean Sea Bass & Pork Loin. We started with a salmon appetizer - smoky in phyllo dough. Our appetizers were butternut squash with apple juice. The apple added sweetness and muted any bitterness. Entrees were easy. Prime Rib for me & Chilean Sea Bass for the wife. The prime rib was meh, not tender - and I got a rare piece, it was lacking in the spice dept - there was no crusting in the outer edges - creamy horseradish saved it. The Chilean Sea Bass was tender and flaky with a strong, almost overpowering fishy taste. For desert I had the rum cake. It was more a piece of dry yellow cake in serious need of some rum glaze. The biscochito cheesecake was tasty and would have made a much better choice. So our meal barely made it to mediocre. But at a premium plus price. Hamburgers and fries from a fast food place may have been the better choice - disappointing. At least the service was excellent saving it from a single star.

When we arrived, there were only 2 other tables. Our waiter seemed confused as he took our orders. I ordered a burger and he asked me how I wanted it done and what side choice. My friend ordered a burger but he forgot to ask her side choice. He wrote down our choices and verified them to us. Then the orders arrived, with a different server, and both burgers were wrong - had the wrong side, and mine had onion rings on top instead of grilled onions I'd requested. Our other friend did enjoy her Santa Fe Salad and the portion of meat was good on the salad. A few mins later our burgers came back and we both found them to be dry and overcooked (I'd asked for medium). I asked for ketchup and watched him walk back and forth to the kitchen a couple times without getting it, so I got up and got it myself from the jackstand by the kitchen. He finally came back with ketchup but this was like 10 mins later. He seemed to be the only waiter at this point - no idea where our first waiter went. The hostess was helping out too as now there were about 10 tables. We had to wait a while for our check to get processed too. We got a little anxious as nobody could be found to take the money and we had flights to catch. There are about 6 or 7 other eating options in this casino and I'd have to believe any of them would be better than Mica.

There were plenty of tables available when we came on a Friday night, however, we were assigned a pager and asked to wait about 15 minutes. I believe it was because they didn't have enough servers, which is probably why service was also slow once we were finally seated. The food is alright. I would recommend the chile relleno burger wrapped in a flour tortilla. It was very good but also very messy to eat. The surf & turf special they have on Fridays was meh. The steak had lots of gristle and wasn't very seasoned. They also have a prime rib special on Saturdays, but we didn't come the following night.

We were staying one night at the hotel and decided to have dinner here based on the other two locations Turquoise Trails menu seemed to fit more along the lines of what we were wanting. Happy with our decision from start to finish. It was during the weekday (Wednesday) , so it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away when we arrived just before 6 PM. Sat at the bar. Our server & bartender was very friendly and attentive. Believe his name was Ronnie. He kept our glasses filled, was super attentive and professional. Started with their salsa that is served with fresh corn tortilla chips. Salsa was extremely unusual, served warm, consistency great, tasted good, but could have had much more heat. Decided on their "special" that evening which was a 10 oz strip streak and fries for $17.99. Absolutely worth it! It came with a deliciously fresh chimichurri sauce that was amazing & tasted just like I'd make it at home. The fries were good and requested them extra crispy which they also were. Pleased with our experience & couldn't believe that the prices were so reasonable- plus the efficiency of service and staff. If travel through the area again we will definitely be back! *Note: Can be a little confusing in finding; FYI it's located downstairs.

The restaurant was dimly lit, with large whiskey barrels tastefully scattered throughout the space. The ambiance felt dressy casual with a touch of farmhouse charm, complemented by a curated country music playlist serenading us throughout the evening. Since we had mentioned when making our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, both the hostess and our waiter greeted us with a warm "Happy Anniversary" and surprised us with two complimentary glasses of champagne. It was a very thoughtful touch and set the evening off to a great start. For drinks, I ordered the Buffalo Trace whiskey flight, while my wife chose a shrub, which is a sweet fruity cocktail with a hint of vinegar (like apple cider vinegar or kombucha). We both thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. To start, we ordered the corn chowder with bone marrow, which was such a unique and incredibly delicious experience for both of us. You scrape the bone marrow directly into the soup, adding richness to both the flavor and texture, which were already excellent. For our entree, we shared the ribeye steak with duck fat fingerling potatoes, and it was more than enough food for the two of us. The steak was cooked to perfection and, surprisingly, had very little fat. The duck fat potatoes were soft, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the meal. For dessert, we ordered the Kentucky butter cake and...oh my...the salted bourbon caramel was absolutely amazing!

This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.
