Came here for the happy hour as I was wanting oysters. It was a cute place that surprised me. It had a speakeasy vibe and was cute! Upon entry we were greeted immediately and brought to a table. Our server took our drink orders and checked in. We ordered a few oysters (chef choice for HH) along with the Mac and cheese and steak tartare. The steak tartare was the winner. It came accompanied with bone marrow. It would have been even better if it had come with crostinis or grilled bread. The chips were not enough. We'll be back to try more items on the menu.

I stopped in kind of by accident when I was wandering around on Easter. There are all sorts of restaurants that I like around the Plaza, but I was looking for something different than my usual haunts. Stepping into the restaurant, it's dark and modern, definitely not what I was expecting in a good way. They had a special prix fixe menu, so I can't evaluate the regular menu, but everything I had was tasty and beautiful. The bar program is exceptional--because it was a little slow since it was late in the afternoon, one of the staff was training another staff person on the cocktail menu. It was interesting to eavesdrop--the training was top notch. All in all, a nice little oasis.

We wanted to find a non Mexican food for dinner since we had many good Mexican food around. Almost most decent restaurant were fully booked for the night. I was able to find this place that we can still go for dinner and it turned out really nice. The food was amazing, service was great. The decor is pretty cozy. I will love to go back there if I am around.

It's been a decade since we last ate at the Palace, but we wanted to try it again during Restaurant Week. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our meal, the ambience, and the superb service. Most items on the fixed menu can be ordered from the standard menu at any time; the Steak and Frites was apparently a special for restaurant week. We started off with Garlic Shrimp and the HUITLACOCHE TAMAL. Of the two, I thought the Shrimp was a better choice, but I wish it had more garlic (not really detectable), and I didn't find any Neuske's bacon. But the shrimp was very good, and the creamy cheddar Parmesan polenta was outstanding. Huitlacoche Tamal was new for us. I looked it up on the site and read, " Often referred to as 'Mexican truffles,' this earthy, smoky fungus is highly prized for its unique, intense flavor." Well, this Tamal was nice, but I didn't find the flavor as unique or intense as before. I liked the dish, it's lovely to look at (see my pic), but I was a bit underwhelmed. For mains, we ordered the steak special and the Dock Confit with Mole. We both love mole and always order it when we see it on a restaurant menu we're new to. The duck and the mole here were outstanding! I highly recommend this dish. If you are a mole fan, you'll like the mole served here (it's a negra mole and it was delightful). It was served with wonderful gnocchi that soaked up the mole so well. The accompanying sweet potatoes were also very good. I ordered the steak frites, the frites being "Parmesan fries", and they were very good. I asked for the steak med-rare, and it was perfectly cooked, not easy on a cut that is rather thin, like a skirt steak. The flavor was delicious, and it was very juicy, but I'm not sure Skirt Steak was the best cut for this dish. This cut is known for its chewy texture, which our neighbor, who also ordered it, said was 'tough'. Indeed, this is a far cry from anything like tenderloin or even a great ribeye. I loved the flavor but didn't love the texture. Perhaps this cut was used to make the restaurant's 3-course meal very reasonably priced at $55. The Palace offers Steak Au Poivre, a 6-oz filet that alone costs $55, so I can understand the substitution. Overall, I did enjoy the dish, but I will probably pass on a stand-alone Skirt Steak in the future. For dessert, we tried the Flan and the Chocolate Budino. The flan was my favorite. I'm rather picky about flan, and this town has so many Restaurants that serve it. At Palace, the texture was perfect, the flavor spot on. My wife loved the Budion, I thought it was too sweet. I also didn't think the chocolate used was ideal, complex enough to be the dessert's main star. Service was outstanding! Our server was Cree. The entire team at Palace did a great job, and I really like the overall feel of the restaurant, the vibe. It isn't pretentious, but it is still fine dining. The ambience is quiet, the booths comfortable, and my wife and I will absolutely return.

    Chawanmushi $17 appy

A nice dark restaurant with bar. We slipped in just after Happy Hour on our 'Lets test Sante Fe cocktails'. We had the House Old Fashioned, rye (hurray) and urapan mexican rum, demerara, bitters, and mole. It was delicious butnot a natural pairing for us however the rum was mellow. $15 We tested the chawanmushi, an adventurous experimental number from the chef. It's a savory steamed egg custard dish seasoned with mirin and soy sauce (just a little) and topped with shitake and salmon or trout roe. It was very tasty but the custard was too runny. I thought maybe the chef might come and see if we liked it as it was new but nope. $17 for this small appetizer, it should have been perfect.

You can choose between seating in the lounge for a more casual experience or restaurant area for a slightly more formal atmosphere. Great place for a date or to grab drinks with friends! Quick and helpful service, very happy with the burger and risotto

Love this super cute and posh spot! We sat at the bar to grab some drinks and foods. The bartender was super nice and accommodating of everything. I always try crab cakes when I go places and it was really good, the sauces and caviar was just the cherry on top! The burger was yummy and the fries were perfect. Will definitely be back to try more stuff!

We got shishito peppers, milk bread and delicious drinks. The service was amazing and they had great recommendations. I got the cucumber Collin's but with vodka and it was delicious. The menu looked amazing and we wished we had time to have dinner there!

We did what "they" say don't do....go back to a restaurant where you have just had a fabulous experience right away...but we were leaving town and just couldn't without going back to Palace Prime. We repeated some dishes and tried new ones. Soft shell crab and filet. Amazing. Just as good as the first time. Sandra, our waiter, and Austin, the Sommelier, remembered us and treated us like we were regulars. Food, truly outstanding, and service, which makes the experience more memorable, was stellar. This is a Santa Fe MUST.

When I arrived, I originally wanted to visit the restaurant, which was closed for the week due to a family emergency. So I presented to the open seating bar. Was ignored a long time. Got up to go to the bar and someone else stole my table. Took a long time to be acknowledged by the bar tender and finally made an order. Took quite a while to get it. Things got better when a bar seat opened up and I moved to the bar. But keep in mind, a different bar tender pretty much took over and kept my drinks flowing. That first bar tender could not hang, demonstrating poor time management skills and appeared to be moving slowly. The second bar tender, I think his name is Hector, really turned things around for me. I visited Secreto (another hotel based outfit, in the Hotel St. Francis) because they are supposed to be a "cocktail experience," boasting "garden to glass" cocktails. Dark wood and southwestern palate for decor. I had: Smoked sage margarita: flagship drink, smoked washed premium margarita (super herbal) Ghost ranch reverie: Tequila with peach, apricot shrub, lemon, seltzer, smoked rosemary (light, not too sweet, an "homage to the passionate artists of the southwest) Madonna of the Mesa: tequila blanco, pomegranate, mouth herbs, lemon, rose water (soft and balanced) Secret garden: basil infused gin gimlet with lime and chomilre infused honey. "Botanical crispiness meets honeyed serenity." I liked the basil, but the honey wasn't my thing. But a good cocktail. Again, drinks were good. On a Thursday afternoon, it was initially crowded and the initial service was terrible. But Hector saved the day.

We ordered a charcuterie and cheese board which was much larger than expected and had plenty of local options. I next tried a Bywater which was rum, falernum, genepy and Averna. It was a very deep and rich cocktail which I also enjoyed. The bartender was very friendly and offered us small samples of a few unusual items they stock. Overall a very fun experience.

Did tears of certainty spark his eyes as he sat under those moody lights, standing firm that yes So Long, See You Tomorrow needs not one or two but three different types of sesame- what did he feel? What did intend to bankroll? And the sickest joke of all- the Bellow's Breath- a bone broth mocktail like some crystal cup of soup. Was that beverage intended to pogo stick my friend off the proverbial wagon into the depths of glugging Long Island ice teas just to feel something familiar again? Because it did. And my heart aches for that friend but I too would lose my mind if I were to stare into such a void and see whatever it is that stares back. Was this menu the vision of a team- a baffling Frankenweenie invented by committee- or the secret wish of one troubled mind? I see it all so clearly and yet I can't help but doubt my own memory. That many beets on such an expensive cocktail menu? Who salts blueberries? This total disregard for the green chile cult that runs this city like a delicious cabal? Had no drink technician ever walked from front door to car, inhaled the piñon perfumed air outside and thought, I can do something with that. I don't know what happened and I don't think I ever will but I know I did not like it. Also the bartenders were vacant and so confused that human beings wanted to order cocktails in a cocktail bar.
