To borrow a phrase: Meh. Saw a lot of great reviews so we decided to try it again for happy hour. The cocktails were good and service was on point, but just can't get excited about the food. We had the coconut shrimp which might as well have been from Trader Joe's; mussels that were cold and served in a tomato broth with little flavor, and crab cakes that were more breadcrumbs than crab. We also had the tempura battered green chile strips which tasted good, but were very greasy. The patio atmosphere is nice and it's got a good vibe, but if you go for the food you'll likely be disappointed. There are better options elsewhere in town. Came here a month ago while visiting NM for my mother's birthday. From the time we walked in to the time we walked out, the team here was so attentive to our needs. Our waiter was very pleasant and anticipated our every need, answered our questions, and made our time enjoyable. The salad prepared table side was delicious and the seasoning and dressing was done just right and not overpowering. The food was delicious and you really do get what you pay for! They do not listen, nor do they seem to care about food allergies. Our app profile has a clear food allergy, and we mentioned it twice to our server. Waiter seemed bothered by the allergy and the chef didn't seem to care to try at all to accommodate. The cut of beef was good - if small and pricey. Happy hour appetizers are tiny - basically half the food at half the price. Everything seemed pre-plated and came to the table within minutes of being ordered. Service friendly but rushed. Beef ordered medium rare arrived raw-rare, was microwaved up to requested doneness when we complained. The kitchen here must be an awesome assembly line. our hotel concierge recommended this place so we stopped in for an afternoon drink. Happy hour is from 4-6pm. We tried a few appetizers and we pleasantly surprised at the quality and tastynes, so much so that we ordered more. Beef kabobs with chimichurri, mussels with heirloom tomato sauce, beet and strawberry salad were really good. Then we ordered crab cakes, salmon tacos and shrimp ceviche and coconut shrimp. The manager was terrible. They sat us at a broken table with a loose table top. We asked if they could fix or move us. The manager came over jiggled the table and walked away.. we asked again and they said no. Food was good and our waiter was nice. I was pretty disappointed with the manager's dismissive behavior. We are frequent visitors to Santa Fe and have wanted to have dinner here for some time. We were delighted. The food was excellent and overall I would rate DF2 as possibly the best value in town. My only negative was that our waiter was a little too busy to provide service at the same level as the balance of our experience. We began with the crab cakes, while quite good, they were not remarkable, but this is Santa Fe The table side Caesar was impossible to beat. Impeccably prepared with very nice fixings. Our main courses were also great. My lady went for the crab stuffed trout while I chose the house special filet. Wonderful and while not inexpensive, tremendous value for the quality served. Went for happy hour and was disappointed. Fried pickles were way too greasy and tasted like old dirty oil. Plus the breading didn't stick so you had to rummage through to pair the pickle with breading to get the crunch. Crab cakes were so so. Only pro is the cheap drinks. Sitting at the back couch area was super awkward. There's only two small tables with tons of couch space. I was only with one other person so we shared the space with strangers which I'm totally fine with but we all struggled when food came out. One of the best happy hours in Santa Fe - fantastic bites and drinks for the price. But I think the prices of the dinners/entrees are very overpriced for what you get. The reason why is give only 3/5 points is that we asked for vegetables for our 2y old and we were told that the ones they have cannot but put together for a kids-portion. They charged $20 for Salmon and vegetables, an adult dish. They other thing was, despairing asking if this is a special event during the reservation process, but nothing happened. I tried this place because I wanted to enjoy a good steak dinner in a romantic atmosphere with my significant other. The setting wasn't bad but the food was absolutely terrible and the $270 tab (no alcohol) was ridiculous. The person who thought to put barbeque sauce on a ribeye steak should be fired. We started the meal with the blue crab cakes and they were disappointing, at best. The waiter brought out two quarter-sized crab cakes sitting on a spicy remoulade that had an off-putting taste and gummy texture. The cakes themselves tasted OK but the remoulade ruined them, plus, they fell into crumbles when we put our forks into them. Maybe they should think about using a binder. We walked in thinking about the Chateaubriand for 2 but the waiter sold us on the surf-n-turf that wasn't on the menu. It sounded good with a 10 oz. prime ribeye, lobster tail, and shrimp. What he didn't tell us that each meal could easily fill two people. But, without that info, we each ordered the surf-n-turf. The worst, other than the $270 bill (no alcohol included), was the steak. The "chef" literally burned a perfectly good piece of meat and made it almost inedible by laying it in a pool of homemade barbeque sauce that, like the crab cake remoulade, tasted bad. That barbeque sauce wasn't fit to be on a chicken or ribs, much less on a $50 prime ribeye. We wound up taking more food home than we consumed in the restaurant. I chucked the leftovers in the trash the next day after trying to repurpose the steak for nachos. The meat was still burned and I couldn't scrape that crappy barbeque sauce off. The final straw was dessert. We watched at least a half dozen bananas foster being prepared at tables and thought maybe, just maybe, that experience would brighten our frustrations after an unpleasant meal. But when we ordered it, the restaurant had allegedly "ran out of bananas." It was Saturday at 8:00pm!!! So, if you know that a great steak shouldn't require sauce, especially barbeque sauce, then choose another restaurant. Heck, I've had better steak at Outback. That is sad!!! read more

After receiving a glowing recommendation from someone who had been here years ago, I made this reservation with high hopes. Unfortunately, this was the biggest mistake of our entire vacation. The caesar salad, made table-side, had a giant opportunity to impress. Unfortunately, it was tasteless, the lettuce was old, and the croutons were essentially oil-soaked grocery store garlic bread that was barely crispy. The steak in the main course was tasty, but the notes of cocoa/coffee/pomegranate were lost in a sea of mashed potatoes. The worst part of the dish was the "roasted" vegetable medley that may as well have been from the frozen food section. With dirty plates, fluorescent lighting blaring down on our table, and no music, the atmosphere did nothing to improve the experience. Furthermore, the man running the front of house was the caricature of a used car salesman and exceptionally condescending when we brought areas for his improvement to attention. He even went so far as to blame things on the waitress, who was very nice and honestly did her best to accommodate us. Bottom line: Do not make this your one "fine dining" experience in Santa Fe. Despite the top-tier prices, it is not fine dining in either quality of food, customer service and staff training, or atmosphere. Apparently, this place has changed hands and is no longer what it once was. Skip it and go somewhere reputable. read more

I Highly Recommend. We got the Truffle soup (it won the souper bowl of Santa fe in 2015) and the fish and chip appetizer. They were out of mahi and made it with fresh salmon. It sounds questionable, but this was one of my favorite parts of the meal. The breading was thin and crisp and the fried filets were served with a delightful sauce for dipping. I got the Grass Fed, Organic NM Filet Mignon. It consisted of cocoa, coffee, & garlic encrusted, Pomegranate Balsamic Reduction. I asked if it was sweet he informed me the reduction has a sweet taste. I requested it on the side and on the side it was. The steak was perfectly done and tender. I am a Texas girl, so I know my steak. I have had a few....thousand. Anyways the flavor was spot on. Idk how it wasn't sweet since it had cocoa on it, but I don't care it was the perfect combination of spices. It came with house made mashed potatoes and those were just great. My husband got the Frenched Chicken because of Yelp and all of the raves on this dish. I might have to get this next time. It will be so hard to choose. This was a very unique and yummy dish. The chef stuffs gruyere under the chicken's skin before cooking. That means the chicken was moist and covered in my ALL TIME favorite cheese. It was significantly cheaper in price than my entree, but equally tasty, if not more. For dessert was got the house made sorbet with the house made ginger snaps. It was a great palate cleanser and an amazing way to end the most romantic and perfect date. Our waiter took amazing care of us and he really had a lot of knowledge of the menu, how things were prepared, and where they came from. It was very apparent that he adores his job, the chef, Santa Fe, and his coworkers. All of these things combined with the surplus of real candles and a lovely atmosphere really impressed me. Wow- where do I begin? I met a good friend here (to eat on the patio asthat is the only way to eat at a restaurant during the Rona-) to have a meal that was much anticipated after being locked down for over 5 months. It seemed the perfect choice. Small, local owned great reviews- etc... Perfect to spend a bunch of money on! We were pleasantly greeted, seen to our table, served our pre-meal cocktails, and our order of aperitifs were taken along with our meal orders- Great beginnings! celebratory all the way around.We felt great that we were able to patronize our local eatery and enjoy a much needed night out! I ordered a steak, and a glass of wine- my friend had the trout, and glass of wine- Yum! We ate, talked and enjoyed the evening- ( a light sprinkle kept us cool and everything was absolutely great) We ordered desert- I personally ordered a Bananas Fosters, knowing the presentation would be fun, and it was a fun evening- That was the end of the niceties. After enquiring about how long it would be before MY desert would be served (my friend had hers a good 30minutes before mine) We were perplexed by one of the staff coming to our table telling us we needed to wrap up out meal in 20 minutes. (I still hadn't gotten my desert yet...?) We questioned that, and were told- " YOU WERE OBVIOUSLY OVER SERVED AND YOU NEED TO LEAVE." (Wait- one cocktail, one glass over priced wine??) Meaning we were obviously drunk if we questioned being kicked out of a restaurant we were spending a LOT of money at (WELL over 175.00 for 2 people) .. and I STILL HADN'T GOTTEN MY ORDERED DESERT....They didn't seem to care about THAT- 20 minutes was our time window....My friend go t upset over this, UNDERSTANDABLE- (Geronimo's would not do this).... That is when the table in the corner became VERY loud, yelling racial slurs at us, and telling us we need to leave etc.... (THAT table had been there WAY before we were even seated... but WE were being evicted??) It was right out of the Twilight Zone. LONG/SHORT I grew up here- went to school here, raised my daughter here, have a business here... I have no words for the absolute insanity I encountered at this place. Do not go here. Went here with a group of 8 at around 7pm on a Monday. Definitely not a crazy busy place at this time of day/week. Service was ok. Took a long time to get anything done by the server. Once ordered, everything came quickly and was fresh. I got the Filet Oscar and the watermelon gazpacho. I loved every bite of all the food. But seriously. Green Chile Queso smothering a steak and crab legs? So. Good. I don't normally eat meat and I devoured every bite. Would come back just for the meal. Everything else was incidental. We made reservations for the first night of Restaurant Week but didn't realize that on Sundays they also have a special $20 menu. After looking at both options, we decided to try the Sunday Special. The soups were both wonderfully delicious. I got the French onion and the boyfriend got the truffled king trumpet mushroom soup. The mushroom soup didn't have any pieces of mushroom, it was more of a puree. The French onion had actual onion rings on top of it. They were very thin and crunchy and wonderful. For entrees, I went with the tomato and gruyere stuffed chicken and the boyfriend paid the upcharge for the prime rib. What can I say about the chicken? The description says it all, melted gruyere inside of a succulent chicken breast? Cheesy heaven. Sadly, for the boyfriend, he ordered his medium rare and it came out medium well/very well in spots. I couldn't get him to send it back so he just ate it but didn't enjoy it very much. His dessert was chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. The cookie wasn't soft like we anticipated so he used it as a scoop for the ice cream. My dessert was deceptive. In my dessert's defense, the description listed a donut and ice cream. In my mind, it was going to be some type of cake donut. What arrived was literally a chocolate glazed donut with sprinkles. And pistachio ice cream. I'm not a fan of glazed donuts so I only had one bite, but if that's your thing, then this dessert is definitely for you. As far as the atmosphere, we loved it. The front part of the restaurant looks like it was a converted diner car but once you get into the back there are several separate but open areas. Meaning, separated by half walls and beams but open and airy. The room we were in had several 2 person tables, the kind that has a booth seat on one side and a chair on the other. I normally don't like that set up because I feel like I'm on top of the table next to me (since they're all connected by the long booth) but there was actually plenty of space in between tables, which gave it a more intimate feel. This restaurant was probably our favorite one that we visited while in Santa Fe and would love to give their full menu a try next time we are in town. read more

To start things off, I understand that Covid has hit all buisnesses hard this past year, that being said the wait staff was absolutely fantastic, for as pricey as it was, the venue was extremely loud, could barely hear myself think. I was very excited for our food to come out, as we had ordered the lobster tails and the filet mignon. The lobster was overcooked and smelled very bad, none of the veggies seemed cooked, much less seasoned or edible. The filet mignon which I had ordered medium rare was charred on the outside but pretty much raw on the inside, the meat was tough and very low quality. The asparagus had no flavor, however the mashed potatoes were very good given the small portion that was served. 1/10 for the price, I just simply cannot recommend. read more
