If you're ready to get crackin' on some fresh seafood, then this is the place to be! Cajun style peel and eat shellfish is one of my favorite things to indulge in and this restaurant does it right. The service was great and very friendly. The location has plenty of parking and there was no wait when I visited during the week. The Blue point oysters were very tasty and refreshing so I'd recommend those if you're a fan of oysters. I also had the extra hot crackin sauce with snow crab, and this level of heat was on the border of too much for me and I'm a lover of spice. The crab was still delicious and cooked perfectly though. My boyfriend had his crab in hot (second highest heat level) and it was the best, so I'll order that next time. The sauce was a scrumptious blend of garlic, butter, lemon and pepper! We also had the headless shrimp and it was amazing. My seafood craving was more than satisfied and I can't wait to go back!

5 star Seafood boil w/mild crackin sauce. Sauce had great flavor. Fried catfish, oyster's and chicken tenders the kids didn't like. Lacked flavor when I tried the oysters. If ever in town again, I will def get the boil & sauce.

Food is a 5 star, service is hit and miss. We went in for Fathers Day and the food was great and the service was good. Eating is not for those lights on cash. Your bill can add up quickly!! This is a special family treat. You will not be disappointed with the food!!

FALSE Business hours. They won't seat you in the last hour of operation. I guess you can't expect much from Santa Fe.

Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and you get a generous portion, which makes the price feel like a steal. My husband's grilled catfish salad was huge and genuinely delicious, not an afterthought like it can be elsewhere. Sides were a bit mixed. The mac and cheese was overdone, but the red beans and rice were excellent, full of flavor and exactly what you want alongside that fish. Only real drawback is the hours. We found ourselves wishing they were open more often because it is the kind of place you want in regular rotation. Overall, great food, strong portions, and real value. We will absolutely be back.

I love Cajun food normally but I'll be honest this really wasn't it…read more The gumbo had a weird pasty chalky taste. It wasn't like a soup how we are used to, it was sort of thick and slimy, the flavor was a little too different. 1 star dish to be honest. We threw it in the trash. The jambalaya was a little better, but it still wasn't great. It actually made it to like a 3.5 star quality dish; it was good enough to eat, so we ate this. The fried oysters were pretty good, especially when dipped in their spicy tartar sauce, 4 stars for this dish. I might actually crave this once in a blue moon. Their Mac and cheese had so much potential. It was thick and creamy how I like it, burned cheese on it was great, they attempted to put som cajun seasoning in it that you can barely taste, but the part that docked them points the most was the Mac was overcooked probably sat on a heat lamp for a very long time. The fries were soggy after only a 5 minute drive. They also use styrofoam, which I personally don't like eating from due to the forever chemicals that leach into the food when it's hot. Also after spending $40 and asking for an extra sauce I got charged a dollar. I mean okay I don't thin the side sauce was worth the dollar but also the sauce that came with it was only filled half way. I mentioned that am still I was charged the buck. The lady up front had an alright demeanor, the lady cooking in the back seemed really sweet and asked me how i found them, had a smile etc. I think they should have someone like that cashiering.

Turns out this place showed up on one of the food tv shows and the chef won a James beard award. That's intriguing. The place is nice inside, fairly big, and also has a shop selling spices, cookbooks, and items from Africa. The only weird thing is that the cushions on the booth we were in sunk kind of low which left us at a weird height to the table. There were plenty of vegetarian options, many of which were vegan. And an assortment of more traditional meats that you'd find in the Caribbean style of cooking. We got a tofu curry which was pretty nice. Just a hint of spice but tons of flavor. We had the jerk tofu sandwich (a little spicy) and the hummus sandwich which were served with a mix of lemon and cumin fries. We had one member of the dining group that got jerk chicken, which she loved (but I didn't try). I was glad we stopped in.

You should never in life need a knife for oxtails, but the knife was warranted because we indeed did. What meat there was, was tough and entirely lacking in flavor, to include the gravy they swam in - which had the barest HINT of spice. Another reviewer got it right when they said it's generous to claim the dish is accompanied by a side of collards. There was a sprinkling of chopped, nearly raw collards and a chunk of mofongo. Perhaps the food is better when the chef is actually in the kitchen, but he definitely wasn't back there on this day. My husband's Coke was flat and the Jamaican hibiscus tea was mouth puckering. The ambiance was nice - loved the bazaar - and the staff friendly, but unfortunately that's the best that can be said.

So, what do you do, on Birthday week when you get the little extra money, we been waiting for?!?…read moreWell, it had been a bit since we have been to Pappadeaux, so I thought Lobster Bisque sounds good so let's go get clam chowder or Bisque... Wrong! They only have Gumbo soups now. I am not complaining at all, we chose a separate appetizer. We love the Oven-Baked Crab Cake with Jumbo lump crab, & lemon caper butter it was delicious. Kara was on top of all parts of service. She was attentive but not intrusive in the least. 5***** all the way. So we ordered a ton of food, and enjoyed it with the complimentary French bread & Butter. Dan had: Pappadeaux's Platter with Two fried catfish fillets, [extra] shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp, stuffed crab, crawfish. Dan only got through less than half. I ordered Rainbow Trout & Jumbo Crab Blackened trout, shrimp, jumbo lump crab, hazelnut brown butter, with Buttered Heirloom Grits. The pairing worked very well together. There was a slight up charge for the grits, but I am happy. The food was fresh, delicious and well balanced. The garden outside and around Pappadeaux is a relaxing and inviting. They have a water fountain on their front veranda, and it was wonderful to hear the birds in the trees. Windows give a nice view of their gardens. I believe they still may patio seating but I didn't ask about it. The waitress offered dessert and with both of us having had a substantial more food on our plate, we declined... but I admit the banana pudding was calling my name (back for a limited time she said).

Only the other one in the South Valley (where we never go) has them. The tv commercials didn't say that. I did let the servers know this bc I felt it was false advertising. We got a Flight of 4 different beers and "settled" on a fried fish w salad which was ok and their grilled catfish tacos which you had to eat w a fork bc they were too messy to pick up w your fingers.. They tasted ok but the salsa and a pink sauce (?) helped to give them more flavor. The atmosphere was ok and the Friday evening crowd was arriving. We ate inside and our server, Sophia, was very good. It didn't take long to get our dinners except my partner's salad took forever! The salads are included w the meals. My salad was different and good which was a Blackeye pea, corn, & more ingredients. My experience there was disappointing since I wanted ribs and not "soggy" fish tacos. I might go back for the beer only.
