The flavor itself was good, garlic-y and cheesy. The ranch was delicious. However, the dough was especially dry and chewy. I found it hard to eat a whole piece of the cheesy bread. The dryness was amplified for the vegan mac and cheese pizza, because the noodles were undercooked/dry and there wasn't enough cheese or ranch to supplement the chewy dough. I was incredibly impressed with their customer service, as they promptly followed up and offered me a free pizza, and the person taking my second order was very friendly and understanding. On my second attempt, the employee recommended I get one of their specialty pizzas, as they're more known for their vegetarian and other pies. So instead of going with my stand-by pepperoni and sausage, I tried their BBQ chicken. Ingredients were great and it was cooked well, but If I'm being honest, the pizza deserves a 3 star rating; however the way they handled the situation deserves an extra star. Standards are important for success in this industry and I fear that Dimo's are rather wishy washy. I've now ordered a 10" C+P and a different specialty pie with each of my 4 orders. First time the C+P was a little undercooked. Second time it was too doughy/thick. Third time it was kinda bland, sauce tasted a day or two old. And the last one, today, was pretty burnt. So IDK... I had Dimo's for the first time yesterday and I liked it. My favorite pizza was the Elote pizza. I tried the chicken and waffles pizza but it was too sweet for me. We had heard not to miss the vegan pizza here while visiting Chicago. And so we made the trek here not really knowing what to expect. It's a good sized place, where you walk up and pick from the pizzas out, by the slice. They had two vegan options, one looked pretty basic and the second was a mac'n cheese one which we both just had to try! And yes, it was so good! With a side of (vegan) ranch and/or some good sweet hot sauce they have, yes! They had a decent drink and beer menu as well but we just filled up on pizza, yep...we went back for seconds, one and a half slices was pretty filling! And I'd say priced pretty reasonable. There were several kinds of pizzas available, options for meat lovers & vegetarians! As mentioned, the pizzas were not labeled, I went with 2 slices (see photo) that had spinach - mushroom - and tomatoes. My boyfriend went with a pepperoni slice and a mac & cheese slice. And our buddy went with a pepperoni slice. I thought the pizza was pretty good, it's hard to tell how long these slices were sitting out for but they reheated well! I had heard such amazing things about Dimos and was so excited to try it. We ordered Dimos through their website and it was an easy ordering experience. We ordered garlic cheese bread and a mushroom and pepperoni pizza. Based on looks, I bet it would have been incredible. Unfortunately the garlic bread was totally raw inside (like stringy dough still raw) and the pizza was also really underdone. We tried to cook it ourselves since we didn't hear back from Dimos (and still haven't) on what to do, but it was still not fully done everywhere and then became burnt other places so we didn't get to really try it safely. The slice was XL and was only about $4. The crust was thin and crispy (just how I like it). The sauce was very delicious and flavorful and fresh. The cheese was real (this is important. Just like the location in Wrigleyville, this is your typical late night pizza spot. The highlight of this place is the many different types of pizzas they have. Also a plus is that they serve beer and alcohol. But for the most part this spot you would prb end your night, not begin. This location in particular is very short staffed. Love this place! They have a punch card, which lets admit is such a great motivator to go do stuff you love, free slice on 11th visit. I love all the different pizza themes. Especially the chicken and waffles slice. 10/10 to this place been going for years whenever I'm in the neighborhood and need a quick meal. Dimo's Pizza was quite a surprise to me to how amazing it was. I was going to a concert around the corner in Wicker Park and was looking for a place to get some pizza in Chicago while I was there, because what's better than pizza in Chicago? I looked around the area I would be in on Google maps, saw Dimo's pizza and decided that's where I was going. I didn't look at any reviews before hand and I didn't even look at their website or menu online before visiting, so this was a completely blind first visit. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the vibe of the restaurant. It's a cool, hip place that shows off its personality. Most of the building is painted a bright, bold and vibrant red. The lighting in the main seating area is purple. There are many paintings and pieces of artwork on the wall that have imagery of bikes on them. There are also many bikes suspended from the ceiling. I'm not sure I know the reasoning for the theme, but their theme is definitely bike related. The music matches the feeling of the restaurant as well. There's a mix of alternative, new and old. All together it's odd, it's strange, but it's interesting and it works. Once inside the door, there's a long walkway to get to the counter. I presume they sometimes have long lines which is why they have a long line built. When I visited, there wasn't anyone in line and the seating area was maybe half occupied. The employee behind the counter was incredibly friendly and greeted myself and my friend that was accompanying me even all the way across the restaurant. Above the counter area were instructions painted on the wall on where to go and what happened at each station of the counter. Not only did I not notice those instructions, but I didn't need to. The employee was a superstar, she walked us through the process of what we wanted, what pizza options they had available and was able to answer every question we had. I was surprised not to see any deep dish pizza, but the original crust was good too! Their system is pretty unique. All the pizza is already cooked and on display at the counter. You just have to come in, look at your options, ask for your choice and you can get the pizza you want by the slice. From there, they take the slice, put it back into an oven to reheat and you get your pizza. I ordered a macaroni and cheese slice. I usually enjoy a supreme style pizza but they did not have anything like that. They had a margherita pizza that I was tempted to try and a pepperoni as well as 4 - 5 other options. In about 2 - 3 minutes, our slices were ready to eat. In that short wait, I headed off to the restroom. Walking down the long hallway past the kitchen to get to the restrooms is an experience all on its own. From the warm red and purple glow of the dining area with the echoey alternative music, you walk down a hallway that starts to get very industrial feeling, the lighting seems more green and yellow, the walls are more brick than painted drywall and the music kind of fades away. It's interesting for sure. The restrooms were clean, but also had a cool vibe to them. They weren't the worlds newest remodeled restrooms. They had some wear and tear, a few pieces of Sharpie graffiti, a few holes in the wall, but it was the vibe of the place that made it all fit in. The slices are pretty decently sized, larger than a big slice of any chain piece of pizza. Each slice is about $4 so you cannot beat that. The macaroni and cheese pizza slice I had was awesome. I have never tried a mac and cheese pizza before so it was definitely an interesting introduction to a type of pizza I will absolutely try again. Somehow in their cooking method, the macaroni was not too mushy and was not too hard or crunchy, even after the reheat process. I was very surprised. The mac and cheese pizza had a lot of macaroni, a helping of shredded cheese and some green onions which made a nice accent to the pizza. The only thing that I could have wanted more of was some creamy cheese sauce that you'd expect to have if you were eating mac and cheese on its own. Buyer's beware: the cheesy garlic bread is not a side, well not for one or two people. It is a good 20" pizza! Make sure you have a party to feed before you order this as a side dish, don't make the mistake I did. That is unless you want to enjoy the awesome cheesiness and garlicky pizza that I had that night and for lunch the next day. Overall, I was expected to go to a pizza place that served deep dish pizza being in Chicago. While it wasn't what I expected, I was nowhere near disappointed. This was an awesome choice to visit. The place is worth a visit from great service and a really interesting vibe. I had the pleasure of trying the HUGE slice of s'mores dessert pizza from Dimo's yesterday and it's basically all I've talked about since. I was originally intending for this last-minute stop at Dimo's to be a pre-dinner dessert (oops), but it definitely ended up filling up my stomach enough to be a whole meal. Oh, and did I mention that we SPLIT ONE PIECE? Yeah, the portion size here is definitely not something to scoff at. The s'mores pizza included the typical crust, plus a plethora of toasted marshmallows, melted drizzled chocolate, and (yes) even Teddy Grams! They did not skimp on the ingredients at all. This was one substantial pizza. It didn't even fit on the paper plate! Also, it came served with a fork and knife. Trust me, you will be 100% needing the fork and knife for the ooey gooey goodness that is the s'mores pizza. Being vegan menu studying before venturing is a requirement. I was ecstatic to see that the offerings were virtually 1:1 - meaning, for every 1 slaughter-house pizza for you meat eaters there was 1 astonishing version of that pizza, veganized. I was PUMPED! After finding out that we were outside of Dimo's delivery area, my partner and I made a date night to sample this gem. At first I was disappointed they didn't deliver in our area but after going I am so glad they don't; they are too. First, I would have them deliver three times a day, everyday. Second, I would miss out on all of the great folks behind the counter. All of those amazing folks who not only make this awesome deliciousness but who have the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. When you walk in, the store opens itself up with high ceilings, swank drop lights and a large seating area. Head up to the counter where you find fresh pies and warm, friendly smiles. You can choose to go by the slice or order a whole pie. We are big foodies and eaters and can confidently say that for us a 12" pizza was more than enough plus it provided for left-overs. The 20" mega-heifer pizza would feed a small army; one or two slices from that and you're golden. What goes best with amazing pizza? Beer. Do they have it? You betcha! Though I wasn't born in Chicago, I got here as fast as I could so I'm transplant-hometown proud and loyal to my Chicago brands like Goose Island. I'm a big fan of Green Line and was happy to try a new brew from G.I. (not gastrointestinal) on tap at Dimo's: Blue Line. It paired beautifully with my vegan Mac'N'Cheese pizza. The pizza was OMG-squared good. Perfectly and expertly cooked, the noodles were perfect tenderness and the crust was reminiscent of my favorite New York pizza joint. The pie was blanketed with a delicious alfredo-like sauce and vegan cheese-a-plenty. My partner is not vegan but he loved his chicken-bacon-bbq pizza all the same. I am looking forward to my next visit already and my stomach is growling as I write this review. I can't wait to try all of their vegan pizzas to find my favorite.
