This was a spontaneous stop. I was trying to go into the souvenir shop next door but when I approached it, a sign said to enter through Uncork It. So obviously I did. Of course I got distracted and browsed the store. There was souvenirs in this store as well, which I was not expecting. I wound up picking up winter gloves because I forgot mine at home. I then discovered a clearance cart that had a variety of boozes in there. I was super excited to find Malort! I found a unique cocktail recipe years ago that had Malort in it but was never able to find it in FL. Little did I know, it is very well known in Chicago! Obviously I purchased a little 6 pack. I browsed the aisles somewhat but did not find anything that caught my eye. I also did not want to purchase a bunch of bottles to walk with a couple of blocks. As I was waiting for the person in front of me to finish, the employee asked the customer to please step ahead so I could put my items down. He was already done and taking his time doing something else so I felt that was thoughtful of him to do for me. They were very polite and quick. Asked the lady, where can i find her whisky aisle and she immediately gave me attitude, responded rudely stating theres so many (I think I know that, I wanted to see the options) I looked over and saw the whiskey sign down an aisle and said nevermind we found it thank u. We dropped in to get some libations for my trip to Chicago. The customer service was top tier. We were scrambling trying to buy the entire liquor store. Although the store was equipped with signage that let you know where everything is.... I'm just a girl. Long story less long they helped me find everything on my list and even suggested some quality brands that aren't mainstream. And they were delicious. This place is great! The fish and chips was the best we've ever had, and we've eaten fish and chips all across the country! The Southern Comfort chicken sandwich was unique with the slice of watermelon on it, which made it surprisingly delicious. And the chopped cheese sandwich was fantastic. it should be because it was the winning meal on"Chopped"! This reinvented place only opened a month ago, but the friendly, attentive staff have it running like a well-oiled machine. The 2 breweries here provide a great selection of beers, and the Crossover Cooler was delicious too. Although we sat at a table with chairs, there are a few tables with padded bench swings that we later tried out and they were very comfortable and fun. There are lots of tvs for sports lovers, and the music being played wasn't too loud to overwhelm conversations at tables. Go and give this place a try! read more

Had a great experience there. Found some allocated bourbons that were close to MSRP. The staff helped me find what I was looking for, and had great conversations about a couple of different bourbons. I needed a chilled bottle of a lesser known white wine variety for a dinner party and they offered to put a bottle in the cooler for me that I could pick up that evening. When I arrived at the store six or seven hours later, they immediately knew exactly what I needed and were able to grab the chilled bottle with my name on it, ring me up and get me on my way in under two minutes! I've ordered delivery from a here a few times, I really like their selections and they even have Lover Boy! This past time I ordered, I realized more than a hour had gone by and I didn't receive my order. I called the store and they were super helpful to contact the delivery driver and make things right. They even threw in a little wine bottle to compensate for the late delivery. Pretty good customer service to me! I spent over $3500 on champagne and wine in September, stocking up for the holidays. The vast majority was done online with Binny's because Uncork It doesn't show vintages for the wines that they offer on their website. Although about $1000 of those purchases were made at Uncork It, it was only because I was walking by and could look for the bottles I was interested in buying. So why the single star? - When I've called to see if they had certain vintages, my phone number has been taken and yet, I received No Follow Up Call. - Even though they make and bag their ice, it's often a refrozen block of cubes. - When I raised the issue with the guy checking me out yesterday, he turned smart-ass and said just drop it on the ground. Brilliant service mentality! Not only is that a great way to split the bag open, but I've also ended up with sheets and big chunks when trying to break up their ice. - Although this aspect is not a big deal, it is part of the experience. The checkout counters are loaded with so much crap, it's difficult to determine whether the lane is open and if it is, where to put your items. Even though I live just two blocks away, I'll opt for Walgreens and Target for simple things and Binny's for fine wine and spirits. read more

The store has a decent selection. I only shop here when having to pick up something quickly as I work in the neighborhood. The customer service is just horrendous! I'm really talking cashiers who don't acknowledge your presence and make conversation with one another as if they are in a home environment instead of a place of business. Location is great, but their selection is just ok. You can find just about the same thing at a lower price at Marianos or wholefoods. Wanting to support a local business during this time and seeking to branch out from the selections at my grocery store, I stopped in here to replenish some spirits. The vodka selections were surprisingly thin on the ground (I prefer non-flavored vodkas) but I ended up with a bottle of Ketel One. The cardmember price vs regular price was a little hard to understand, and no one on the sales floor or at the point of sale mentioned how I could go about getting a card - just found that kind of curious. By happenstance, I also scored a bottle of a pre-mixed Knob Creek Old Fashioned cocktail that I was interested in sampling. The bottle is smaller, so it's not a big commitment. I've been eager to try this cocktail since my Mom mentioned that she received it for her birthday - we can now share the same cocktail at our next Zoom happy hour! Also got a bottle of Rombauer Sauvignon blanc to have with Thanksgiving dinner. The prices, specially for wine, are a bit on the high side compared to Mariano's or even Whole Foods, but it's good to have a look around and see what's out there, or to hit up on a special occasion or for a gift. Service could have been more focused on explaining the benefits of the member card, as stated previously. read more

Lets start with the positive which is that its in my neighborhood and they have a good selection. I ventured out to visit this store although I could easily have just ordered exactly what I wanted from another source but I like to support local businesses especially during this time. Not one person greeted me, which by itself, isn't a huge deal. After finding what I was looking for, I went to the cash register and the person responsible for checking me out never even acknowledged my presence and simply continue speaking to someone else (staff member?) about hiring that person's family member. I know this only because I was completely ignored and could hear every bit of this conversation. My card was charged and he continued to speak to another staff member and never once said thank you or come again or anything even remotely resembling common customer service. I don't expect stores to grovel for my business or act like my presence is worthy of the red carpet but simple things like saying "Hello" or "Thanks" is necessary especially when I can simply go to Binnie's or order online, either of which I will certainly be doing in the future. Rude employees. A man (owner maybe?) yelled at me for standing by the door when he was trying to lock up, even though it was 15 minutes before closing. I moved away and he shooed me to move farther. It's a neighborhood place, not really just a wine store, but a place where they sell all kinds of liquor and have a comparatively smaller focus on wines than other true wine stores. They also have some interesting cheese options, but I'd rather cross the street to Fox & Obel for those kinds of purchases and a block away to Dominick's for my wine picks. read more

Some thoughts from a wine newbie... Selection: Seems like they have a wide variety of wines. That's pretty decent for a non-chain wine store. Customer Service: Friendly and very helpful...and PATIENT! Three people trying to decide on a bottle to pair with dinner, going 'round and 'round... The guy was very patient and informative. Location: I have a couple of friends who live in that neighborhood, so it's nice to be able to pick up a bottle on my way to visit them. I walked into this place when it first opened and asked "Do you carry Strongbow"? Answer: "Never heard of it... but I'll get it for you in 48 hours". Came in two days later and the guy recognized me "Hey! Got your Strongbow... would you prefer it off the shelf or chilled?" The most active cashiers were there when this place was The Marketplace (grocery store). They're career cashiers but are always nice and personable. And did I mention they have an increadible selection of alchohol and cigars?! 4 stars for carrying Stronbow, and a 5th for "extra mile" customer service. read more

My firm just won a large commission on a project we've been going after for the past 9 months, which is a pretty unprecedented amount of time for my industry. It was a big coup for us, especially in this economy, so there was plenty of reason to celebrate. That's where Uncork It comes in. We were notified early this a.m. of the 'win', so we had to scramble to order champagne for the entire staff to make the announcement. I called several of the usual suspects: Binny's and a couple of other places, and if they delivered, they wouldn't deliver chilled champagne. Obviously, no one wants to drink warm champagne, so I had to persevere and keep trying. Uncork It came through for us. They were friendly and accomodating and delivered twenty bottles and little plastic flutes (tacky, I know) at exactly the specified time. It was well-chilled and well-priced to boot. High-fives all around for a job well done. Uncork It has just earned all of our business. read more

Don't go here unless you like being harassed by staff - I went here to purchase wine and a bottle of vodka - after my purchase a clerk at the store ran after me outside - I stopped to speak with him having no clue what was going on ... he started asking abt vodka bottle I took ... I was still confused saying ya I bought a bottle and it's been paid for ... he then said no the one you stole! ... I was still couldn't actually believe he was saying this ... He then said I put a bottle in my purse on my way out ... completely ridiculous! I assured him I didn't steal anything literally emptying my purse and showing my bag ... he STILL insisted I stole something and that he saw it ... I could not believe it ... at this time the manager came out and insisted on also looking in my purse ... which again there was no bottle to be found ... at that time I would have expected a gracious apology but no! She wasn't apologetic at all! Neither was her idiot of an employee... all they said was stealing happens and this is a misunderstanding- terrible place !! Will never be back !!! read more

I wish I had discovered Uncork It sooner. Having recently moved away from downtown Chicago, I really do miss it. Over time, I got to know the staff there, and they were always helpful- even if they didn't know about something, they would find another employee who did. The guy in charge of tasting and buying their scotches was knowledgeable, and was able to recommend something that suited my budget and tastes several times, and the selection of beers is pretty good. I think the only problem with Uncork It is probably its proximity to Navy Pier. Numerous times, employees at the store have mentioned that their beer or liquor section is limited by the fact that many of the customers are just tourists in the area looking for some cheap beer or cheap liquor, and they don't think they would be able to carry some of the more exotic stuff. Plus, during the summer, the store gets a huge share of annoying college kids debating which cheap vodka they want- pretty irritating, but who cares? Honestly, for 99% of your regular beer/wine/liquor needs, uncork it has got you covered with decent prices and excellent selection. Plus, they have the bellyflop rewards program (I got a free glass out of it!), and some important extras, like glassware, cheese, nice cigars, and, of course, ping pong balls. read more

Walking back from Navy Pier, I bumped into this place. Free parking if you spend $30 and if you spend $100 they offer free home delivery. I have only been in Chicago for a few weeks and this has had the best selection of South American wines thus far (Chilean & Argentinian). They have a nice selection of beer, liquor (we bought the grappa) and they also had free samples of a rum which was a nice touch. They have a large selection of cheese and olives but I didn't have much time to look. I am definitely going back to check it out. read more

With a name like Uncork It! you best believe they have an extensive wine selection- every color, country, and category you could want! Being downtown, prices are noted to be a few $$ more than you could find them in the suburbs. They had a decent craft beer selection as well. My guy found two new beers he hadn't seen before in bottles, but had tried on tap. I got an interesting looking beer for myself as well, but noted as I was checking out, it was bottled 7/2014- I'm wondering if they are monitoring the beer closely enough, or if my beer will be flat... I am not usually one to give only 2 stars, but I have been consistently disappointed in the prices here. The Walgreens and target across the street charge much less for the same wine, beer, and spirits. The selection is good (and more extensive then the other stores nearby), but still not quite as large of a selection as other liquor stores. For example, they do not carry soju (or at least they didn't when I last called and asked). read more

I've shopped here before because its real close to home. Their prices have always been a bit high but generally close and worth it for the convenience. HOWEVER, their current response to the virus is unconscionable. A bottle of Bombay that Binny's is selling for $26.99 ($29.99 for non-cardholders) is listed at unCorkit for $51.99!!! Before the virus hit, it was usually in the low $30s. At least a 50% hike. Other brands are likewise ridiculously high. I will not patronize this store again. read more

The "manager" didn't have a vintage chart and even appeared to not know what one is. He then pronounced that Valpolicella was a "region" of Italy. Really? At check-out they embarrassed me in front of my date by asking for ID for my credit-card purchase. That's why they call it a "credit card": you give the holder credit. Go to nearby Dominick's.
