Was walking by and noticed they have a free wine tasting on Fridays 5 - 7pm. They mostly sell wine however they do have a decent selection of spirits, a tad over priced considering the location to other liquor stores in the area. However, as for wine and or champagne that have some good hidden gems. If anything, stop by for the wine tasting you might find a new favorite like I did. read more

This is a hidden in plain sight gem in the South Loop. I have probably walked by dozens, if not hundreds of times. It was by happenstance, through an email from Whiskey Magazine about their favorite spots in Chicago, that I found out about Warehouse Liquors. For the uninitiated, the Warehouse Liquors web site is the best place to start, as it features a comprehensive schedule of in-store tastings. Weekly tastings are from 5pm-7pm Thursdays (whiskey and beer) and 5pm-7pm Fridays (wine). The storefront is deceptively small, as it features a vast selection of spirits and wines, including a cooler at the back of the store and a curated assortment of food (snacks). I came here for a wine tasting on Friday in early spring (better late than never with this review) and now feel remiss that I have not been back here more often. It was a perfect date night activity and kickoff to the weekend. Now that cooler temperatures are here, I look forward to returning to sample some of the whiskeys and scotches and making some considered purchases. The personalization and the fact that this is a locally owned business sets Warehouse Liquors apart from the rest. read more

Came here for a scotch tasting with friends, and loved everything! The vibe is awesome, very clean and spacious and well lit. I reserved my spot for the wednesday night tasting the day before for $20. The scotch tasting included 6 different scotches, led by a very eloquent and cultured guide who had loads of words to say about how deep a glass of scotch really is. Honestly I just loved listening to him. I don't really drink scotch all that often but I loved all of them, and each had its own flavor. They provided pizza as well beforehand, and there was enough for everyone to have about two slices. The price was great and the experience was fantastic. I would love to come back! read more

It took me a bit of time to navigate through the store until I figured out how it was organized, no doubt out of necessity for being long and narrow. The wine inventory is excellent. The liquor selection was limited but with some interesting surprises. I was glad to find some non-alcoholic items in the coolers. The staff were very friendly. Prices were a bit more than I pay at home, though I'm sure taxes plus being in a convenient spot in a large city contribute to that. read more

Very interesting store that became my go to for buying bubbles during our staycation at the Congress Hotel. The location was in a comfortable walking distance from the hotel. The overall interior is warm and inviting....there was a little dog there in the front, chilling like a villain. As I walked in I was greeted and asked if I needed any help in locating anything, explaining that I was just browsing. While I was happy to be greeted, I was even more happy about the fact that they left me alone to look around and make my selections. I am a big fan of customer service, but sometimes I like to just wander about until something hits my fancy. The location itself is not that large, but it does not disappoint in the selection of wines, spirits, beers and bubbles. If you are a beer drinker, then they definitely have stuff for you. I was surprised to see that they had Lake Effect in the cooler...don't see it at a lot of places. There were also a few bubbles that I was not familiar with and was happy to see the place cards explaining what they were instead of having to pull out my phone to google it. I found the prices to be quite reasonable, considering that the store is downtown. And I was quite surprised to see that they do tastings on a regular basis, on Thursdays and Fridays. The calendar is on their website (beers and whiskey, etc. on Thursdays and wines on Fridays). This is most definitely going to be my go to store when I am down in this area. read more

Fantastic selection and one of the coolest vibes ever. I've been here several times and can never get enough and I'm a very occasional drinker. I always find a reason to shop there. Mistakes happen but lying is not cool. I would shop here 3-4 times a year. I'd normally spend $300-$600 dollars, which is easy because the their mark up is a bit much. The location and the selection made it an experience so I didn't mind. I purchased a bottle of 21 year old single malt scotch. I had purchased this item before and it was $300. The sticker price, on this day, was $300, but I hadn't noticed the price difference until I got back to my friend's car. I was charged $350 and with tax it came out to $386.98. No biggie, I go back, show the cashier the sticker on the box is $300 not $350. He explained their recent price changes, but the merchant must sell the item to the customer for the lower price. It's not on the customer when items are not priced correctly. I'm told the $350 will drop off my credit card statement and the $300 would be the final price ($300 with taxes is 331.85). I check my charges like clockwork, so 5-7 days is the maximum I will wait before following up. I called Warehouse Liquor and spoke with the same cashier. He was polite, and stated he would transfer me over to the manager. The interaction with the manager was also pleasant, and he assured me he would take care of the $350 charge. "It should fall off in the next few days." I waited 7 more days for a total of 12 days (August 21 to September 2). No refund takes that long. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Flash forward to October 11, 2025, and my credit card company sent me an email stating: Your account has been credited in the amount of $386.98. I logged in to read the final dispute resolution. The credit card company issued the credit, and reported Warehouse Liquor refused their request to review/discuss the charges. This was amazingly disappointing, on top of being flat out dishonest. Warehouse Liquor would rather try to charge me a grand total of $718.83 for one bottle, than issue a refund for their mistake. They would rather lose a customer than issue the refund. The ease with which they lied about issuing the refund is the world we live in now. I will never shop with them again. read more

Liked this little liquor store in the South Loop of Chicago. The place is easy to find on South Wabash Street just outside the Loop area. Street parking is available in front. It appears to be a mom n' pop or mom n' son kind of business, but they had a nice selection of all the usual things one might be looking for. They also had a number of different bourbons - some hard to find, so they get extra points for that. Nice selection of craft beers and a variety of wines. Store was clean and layout was intuitive, and the personnel - especially the mom behind the counter with her dogs -- were friendly and attentive. read more

What a gem! We weren't really looking for wine but as we passed by, thought, "why not?" And found ourselves in a veritable Narnia of alcohol options. Not only was there a selection of things to purchase and take home for later, but we found our way to an excellent selection of chilled options. After narrowing down to a selection of types I.e. three of the refrigerated sections, Riley came to our rescue, dropping not only knowledge and expertise, but excellent recommendations. On the way out I spotted a familiar, if somewhat rare label. Prisma, an excellent winery out of Chile. Not only did they have the Pinot noir in a bottle but we snagged a 250 mL can of both the Sauvignon Blanc and the rosé. I can confirm that unlike some other canned wines, this one tastes just as good as the bottle. What a find! This place is a treasure and I can't wait to return next time I'm in the area. read more

I was disappointed at Warehouse Liquors. Although they have some great choices of wines, they are unreasonably overpriced. I went there and brought La Costa Sangria. It is something that I purchase all the time at Binnys and Costco, and it never costs more than 9 dollars. I came to WL and saw it in the fridge for 11. I wasn't upset as I appreciated the convenience and the fact that it was cold. What I don't appreciate is stale wine that had stained the glass. What I should have done is actually bring my booze back and demanded a new one. But here we are, I am being a true, honest yelper, writing a necessary review while encouraging you not to step foot there. We traveled to Chicago recently (we are based in NYC) to host on our immersive multisensory whiskey corporate experiences. We carefully researched high end quality stores in Chicago and has also heard many good things about Warehouse Liquors. This was a beautiful experience. Our owner, Rachna, spend some time picking the right whiskies for our experience. Not only did we find the carefully picked whiskies we were looking for, the team was extremely personable, knowledgeable and helpful. They even went above and beyond in checking their inventory for specific asks and helping us carry bottles to our owner's hotel because it was raining. Our owner, deliberately chose a hotel within walking distance of this liquor store and we are so glad she did because this will be our go to store whenever we host our experiences in NYC. I'm not a regular, but I would be if I lived in the Loop or the next time I stay at The Blackstone. Unassuming storefront & location, but these folks know their stuff. Great selection of wine, spirits, beer, along with some accompanying items (very good selection bitters, not so much on mixers such as tonic where they had just a few single bottles of Fever Tree). Bourbons were impressive and the staff set me up with a great small production bottle that I wouldn't have known, and even the Vermouth section was pretty great despite not carrying my house standard Cocchi Torino. Pretty much all the spirits had great options while wine & beer also had some nice selections. Not necessarily a discount retailer, but pretty great shop. Very well done, give it a try! read more

After our first outing for food in Chicago we decided to stop and get some provisions for our room. Of course those provisions included some libations. Thanks to the handy dandy Yelp app, we found that this place was not far at all to our hotel room. Walking in and this place feels like it is a candy store for adults. Every magical spirit is within reach and all you have to do is claim it for your own. The selection in here is huge. From the common to the 'I've never seen that before.' We honestly took more time in here than we should have. But that wasn't because we were killing time, it was because we were attempting to find the perfect one to take with us. I scoured the cooler cases as I knew I wanted something cold. I ended up settling on a pear cider. The staff in here were wonderful and able to answer any questions we had. They were also busy making sure that the shelves/coolers were well stocked. read more

This place seemed like scotch heaven. I visited a week or so ago. The staff was friendly. Interior looked very classy yet inviting. They had limited release scotch, including bottles that I simply couldn't find before I moved back. So, when I have a specific bottle in mind, I'm going to check here first. I had remembered hearing of this place before I moved away, but that was long before I got into the various types of whiskey. This time around, I knew that I wanted to get a special bottle of scotch to save as a celebratory bottle for the end of finals. When I walked in, my jaw dropped. SO MANY BOTTLES and not just the typical choices. I ended up leaving with a bottle of Ardberg Grooves. Based off of my love of Ardberg, and the various reviews that I've read, this is one of my holy grail bottles. So, I'm happy I paid them a visit and will be back the next time I'm looking for another special occasion bottle. read more

I know... it's downtown Chicago...there a ton of liquor stores between your home and Wabash ave. But if you are really a serious aficionado you must make the pilgrimage..yes accept the challenge and take the journey. I was told to go there and see Gene, by my son who worked in marketing for the liquor industry. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon with a friend of mine. As we walked in I saw this guy stocking shelves, I asked him if Gene was around. He replied, "I am Gene" and I will now refer to him as Yoda!!! Gene sat us down and through our discussion he told me that he was familiar with my taste because of conversations with my son and would like to have me try some items. He brought out a fantastic tasting whiskey by Weller, when he told me the price under 30$ I was shocked and bought some. Gene takes pride in helping customers explore the different expressions of Liqours and having people leave their taste comfort zones. He also delights in presenting tremendous value and quality to his clients. One weekend I was going to have people over and wanted some sweet vermouth. I was downtown so I stopped in to pick some martini and Rossi vermouth. Yoda....sat me down with 4 different sweet vermouths I had never tasted. They were amazing. He said all components in a cocktail will be diminished by the weakest one, so always use the best you can afford. By the way that includes the cherry.. so get luxardo ... One Saturday my wife was along and she really doesn't drink, so Gene said that he would love to take her on a tasting of various sodas. This man is worth your time to meet! Warehouse Liquors is a solid liquor store that may or may not be right for you. Luckily for me, this is exactly what I was looking for so I stopped by multiple times on my trip. Personally, I like Warehouse Liquors quite a bit. I'm a craft beer nerd from cali so I wanted to nab a few awesome Chicago brews to bring back home, and this place has quite the selection! They have a number of options from local breweries (revolution, pipeworks, mraz, and off color, etc.) and some out-of-state breweries I still find back home (sixpoint, surly, etc.). Prices are close-ish to that other store in the area. The whiskey selection is also very solid here too and the snack options are ok. The location is also supper convenient if you are in one of the nearby hotels. There are a few drawbacks. The whiskey prices seems to be a bit high here. Moreover, if you are here for regular/generic beers, you will probably be a bit disappointed. Some other yelpers seemed to highlight poor customer service as a concern. I was fortunate enough to not have this problem. The whiskey guy helped me out and even suggested some whiskey bars I should hit during my trip. The craft beer guy (Armando) was apparently late to work for the first time ever. Someone caused a scene at the train station and made a number of people in Chicago late for work so I had to look up some of the beers on my smartphone. Also, service here for me was a bit spotty. Still, I was satisfied with my experience here and look forward to stopping by on my next trip. read more

Liquid Heaven! THE UP-SIDE: Upon walking into Warehouse Liquors, the first thing I noticed was the nice selection of chocolate, cookies and snacks up front. Looking at them got me in a good mood, and ready to browse the wine selection. ...and what a wine selection it was! Hundreds of bottles of wine divide the length of this cavernous store into two long aisles. Running the length of the walls on either side is a good selection of beer, soda and liquor. However, this place is all about the wine. THE DOWN-SIDE: No real downside to speak of here. THE SUM-IT-UP: If you're in the neighborhood and you're looking for a clean, pleasant and very thorough wine shopping experience, head to Warehouse Liquors. You will not be disappointed! read more

I went here to try and buy some alcohol for St. Patrick's Day and the guy behind the counter did not accept my ID. I am above 21 and he told me my ID was fake and would not sell me the product I was trying to purchase. When I tried to tell him it was real he was very rude and kicked me out of the store. Amazing selection here especially when it comes to Whiskeys and Beer. I am a Bourbon/Beer lover FYI so can't speak to other wine/spirits. Gene (Owner) has a passion for Bourbon and his palette is second to none. His "barrel picks" are head shakingly good. Thus, you will see a slightly higher pricing but totally worth every penny. Armando is also very knowledgeable in Beer and will steer you in the right direction with his recommendations. I like how they support local beers as well. Super friendly staff. I visited Chicago (for the first time) for work and wanted to get some great wine. I visited the Warehouse Liquors and fell completely in love! The selection of wines and spirits were well organized and displayed. The most amazing part of the visit was the knowledge and customer service Aaron (employee) gave me. HE KNOWS HIS WINE!
