A hidden gem for any craft beer lover, especially one who loves the Bourbon County series from Goose Island. I found this place from a Reddit post and immediately knew I had to scope the place out for myself. They have loads of the 2020 Bourbon County series with a couple of variants and originals from previous years. They also had some other hidden gems like a 2018 CBS and 2017 KBS. Stouts like that age really well, but I'm hoping the aging condition sitting on the shelf hasn't done too much damage to the beer. They've got some old IPAs out of their prime, so just beware when you pick up some of the non-cellerable beers there. Definitely almost picked up an IPA after 9-10 months of canning. People make mistakes, so I called them to rectify the situation, they put me on hold and disconnected me. When I called back later I could hear someone in the background yelling hang up on them... which they did. Exploring the city I had humbling sinus pressure and was in need of some pain relief. Burnham Mart more than hit the spot. I was able to go in and get some travel size Advil and some very needed snacks to hold me over until dinner. My new fascination with ginger beer (oddly enough not real beer) had just begun and I was not able to find any in the store on my own. This store runneth over with lots of beverages and snack foods so I knew I must have been missing something. So I went to the front and asked if they had it and a guy from the front walked swiftly over to one of the refrigerators and voilà! He wasn't jovial, just a matter of fact but not rude either. The drink needed an accompaniment so I grabbed a bag of classic cheddar popcorn and I was on my way. This place gets really really busy. If your having a late night party (solo or with others) they actually deliver liquor along with everything else in the store. They also make frozen pizzas and have all your last minute staples like milk, sugar, ice cream, batteries, or the Sunday paper. If in the area and you need anything this is a good go to spot. Horrible customer service. Used vroom for delivery and the driver was rude and nasty. He showed up called once and text, but I stay on the 18th floor. When I made it to the lobby he left. He never responded to my text when I said I was coming down. He yelled at me and told me he was gone when I called to see where he was. He never came in my building, he was waiting outside. He lied and said he called me several times which was untrue. I responded right away to his text message and came right down on the elevator. When I called the store they repeated the lie the driver gave instead of actually hearing my complaint. Never will I ever shop at this store again. AVOID!!! read more

We stayed at Congress Plaza Hotel when attending Wakandacon in Chicago. I had saved this store on Yelp as I knew we may need some items during our trip. This store definitely came in handy more than a few times. During our 3 day stay, we visited 4 different times as it was in close walking distance from our hotel. We purchased bottled water, gum and snacks. This stores bottled water was cheaper than the folks walking the streets selling water and was our main reason for stopping in so many times. I didn't get the chance to look at everything they had but for a small store, it had a lot of different items. From snacks, drinks, smokes, feminine items and more. Prices were typical of a convenience store in a super convenient area. I did not mind the prices and again found the bottled water was cheaper than the street vendors. read more

This place is one of the best kept secrets in the South Loop. It's a "quick mart" kind of store where you can get groceries and alcohol, but the best thing about it is the kitchen. This place has the best gyros I've had in forever, and it's very inexpensive! You can also sit inside and watch TV while enjoying your meal and a beer. They get baklava delivered everyday too. If you go into this place thinking that you are going to eat avant-garde cuisine, you are out of your freakin skull, buddy. This place offers the people's food, done by the people. Its a nice place to stumble into, buy a pack of stogies and a 40 oz. This place has been revamped recently, they put a new counter in, new place to watch your beer and your sports show. They have pretty good cheeses and good deli meats and will make you a sammy. If you like places that are fancier, bring a mop with you and wear some gloves, otherwise, shut up and order some food and sit down or take it outta there, nobody cares what you think any way. read more
