My experience with this Walgreens location has been nothing but positive. The pharmacist, whom I believe is named Nancy, is personable, informative, and caring. For some reason, her name is currently slipping my mind, but I greatly appreciate her expertise, how she engages with me, and how she ensures I leave the store educated about any medications I picked up or taking. Regarding the store staff, they too are also knowledgeable and friendly. I almost always find what I'm shopping for. I visited on what seemed to be a very busy day to fill a prescription for pain medication and antibiotics after a tooth extraction. Although I was initially given a two-hour timeframe, your team quickly filled my prescription (after a bit of encouragement from me,) which I greatly appreciated given my discomfort. Nancy Salmon says she's the pharmacy manager. She will not fill my prescription that I have been taking for 10 years. I'm not in the suburbs who would just give it to me and would not have an issue at all. She's trying to play Doctor she needs to know her place. She is a pharmacist. I have been taking these prescriptions for a decade, what a joke. so now she has inconvenienced me when I fly out to San Diego tomorrow because I have to get my prescription before I fly to San Diego because California is weird about filling prescriptions from an Illinois doctor.... This wannabe Doctor Who can see my history and how long I've been taking. It needs to know her place and stop acting like she's a doctor and she knows best. read more

I stopped in this store to purchase a gallon of water since I just flew in. This store was conveniently located near my hotel. The staff was polite and said all the right words, but I felt like I was being rushed out of the store. Some items in the aisle, had antitheft locks attached which I guess may be indicative of frequent theft. Overall, my experience in this, Walgreen's was fine. Addendum: I'm in Chicago again and dropped by for my usual (water). I learned that I was being charged 7 cents for a bag. They offer it but don't tell you there's a fee. When my colleague suggested they inform people the cashier responded "this is downtown Chicago." My colleague confirmed that but stated it's also the theatre district, a tourist area and everyone doesn't know they charge for bags at which the cashier responded "we don't know what you know." read more

Well, off the top of my head, the only place around here you can get Scientific American, Abreva and an herb and chicken flavored Bowl Apetit meal in one spot would be Walgreen's. You know, the one with the "weather bell" or whatever above it and the clock that totally helps you figure out how late you are for work while also letting you know just how painfully cold it is in the Winter? Because it tells the temperature too? Yeah, that one, right across from the super classy McDonald's/seafood restaurant. What? No, they don't have hot meals, but there is a pharmacy, a cappucino machine, a perpetual sale on those Nature Valley granola bars and I once got a whole box of rubber bands, like a thousand rubber bands, for 89 cents. This review is for the Take Care Clinic inside the Walgreens. I have felt like crap for weeks now. I have been coughing so hard that I vomit sometimes. I went to see my doctor weeks ago who did a throat culture and then told me I had a viral infection and there was nothing I could do but wait it out. I tried to wait it out - really, I did. I would get better, then worse and better and then worse again. I went into my usual Walgreens on Adams last night and talked to the pharmacist I always see (LOVE her) while she got me the good stuff from behind her counter. She told me that she really thought I should see someone and I told her that my doctor was too far and had told me to wait. She suggested the Take Care Clinic at this other Walgreens. I was able to go at lunch. In and out in 20 minutes - FAST They took a history and really talked to me about my symptoms - THOROUGH They were understanding and nice - COMPASSIONATE The wrote a scrip and filled it immediately - EFFICIENT I would recommend this Take Care Clinic for simple things like the cold and flu. I was seen by a Nurse Practitioner, not an MD. I don't believe any of them have MDs on staff. So you are not going to get most prescriptions from them. But for something like bronchitis and a sinus infection, they are great. The visit was only $59 (though my insurance works with them so it was free for me). So, it would be a good option for those who, in this harsh economic climate, don't have insurance. If you feel bad enough to be seen but not bad enough to wait in the ER or to make an appointment and head out to the doctor, I would suggest just stopping by this clinic. read more

This Walgreens now has Essie nail polish!! I'm so excited. My nails are so excited. It's a pretty good sized selection too, a nice range of colors and nail treatments. I picked up a pretty light purple named Lilacism for some anxiously-awaiting-spring manicures. The pharmacist at this particular Walgreens is always very friendly and helpful. She never makes me feel like I'm bothering her or asking stupid questions. If I don't know which cold medication will work best or if I should be getting Tylenol or Advil she is always willing to help me decide. I wish the Walgreens by my house was a replica of this Walgreens. But I'll settle for it being close to my office. read more

This is a review for their Take Care Clinic. I have insurance but no primary doctor and I know that I should really go about finding someone but I forget about it until I get sick and then think "oh man, who do I call?" Today I remembered that I pass by this Walgreens on my way home from work so I stopped in. The Take Care Clinic is in the back by the pharmacy--there's a keyboard for check-in. I got there at around 8:30 a.m. and there was no one else waiting. I have a PPO so the visit was free. I think otherwise it would have been $65 so like a previous reviewer said, it's a good quick fix if you don't have insurance. I didn't have to wait at all. The NP there was super nice and friendly. She listened to my ailments and wrote me a prescription and had it transferred to the pharmacy. When I got out there was only one other person waiting to see the clinic. My prescription was ready in about 5 minutes. I got the care I needed and it was right on the way to work so I was only a little bit late to come into the office. This is a great resource. I highly recommend it. read more

This is a review for the clinic. I have been plagued by clogged ears, a stuffed nose, and a hacking cough for two weeks now. I went to a different clinic when it first popped up but since I still wasn't better, I figured I should go for a second opinion/follow-up. After a quick typing of my info into a computer, I was seen by one NP who did a check in, then a second NP did the actual exam. I was in and out in about 20 minutes and I felt assured that I do not have the plague but that it really is just a virus. The NPs were friendly, efficient, and awesome. I just had a co-pay, but the cost of the visit would only have been $75 so for those without insurance this could be a good resource for not-too-serious ailments. I would definitely go back (although hopefully I won't need to) read more

This review is mostly for the Take Care Clinic -- I went here a couple of weeks ago after being sick enough to miss work for almost a week, but not sick enough for my doctor to squeeze me in any time other than three weeks after never. My cold/flu symptoms had rapidly turned into an ear infection. No fun! I was so pleased with the service I got here. I walked right in, put in some info into the computer, and before I could even sit down in the waiting area, I was called to go see the practitioners (yep, two of them). No more than 20 minutes later, I had a diagnosis and a prescription and could go home. Both of the practitioners, plus the woman who initially checked me in, were absolutely fantastic -- very friendly, funny, easy to talk to, and straight-forward about what was going on with me. I would absolutely go back here for other similar, minor health issues. They do accept a lot of forms of insurance, but even if you're not covered, the visit isn't that expensive. Minus a couple of points for the complete disarray the lines at the cashier's stations always are in, especially during the lunch and after work rush times, and for the pharmacy not actually having the prescription I needed, making me have to drag my sick self to the Walgreens at State & Jackson instead. Not far, but when you're miserable, you really don't want to have to do that. read more

For us office boys and girls (the ones with little true responsibility--daily tasks involving copying, phoning and erranding), Walgreens offers an escape from drudgery of the office. Walgreens is across the intersection from my downtown office building. So whenever I'm extremely bored or overwhelmed (my responsibilities are somewhat bi-polar), I let my co-workers know that "I'm just gonna run over to Walgreens real quick." And then as I wait for the elevator, I shake my head at my willingness to break my own adverb standards in order to sound nonchalant. (quick vs. quickly) sigh. And just minutes away, I find myself safe in the cozy aisles of my local Walgreens. Sometimes, I take a good 5-7 minutes to choose a midday snack for myself. Othertimes I rack my brain for toiletries I might need to purchase. You'd be amazed how relaxing it can be to stand staring at the wide variety of toothbrushes or razors available. I also appreciate the friendly staff here and their willingness to give me cash back with my purchases. Stop by sometime. It'll probably seem like a normal Walgreens to you. But to me, it is nothing less than a sanctuary. read more

This is a great Walgreens location. It's literally steps from work so I go here to pick up any small items or snacks I need to get through the working day. The store is organized, well stocked and clean. The staff is friendly and extremely efficient. The lines might look long depending on what time of day you shop, but they move quickly. They got two stars because most of the people working the counter are kind and friendly. Pharmacists look at you like your bothering them when you go there, as if I should be ashamed of taking their time. Never been to clinic but seems well received and run. Loss of three stars is from one recent major customer service situation. So. First let me say, after going there 5 days a week for cigarettes and spending ~$2000 dollars in a year or more, I don't expect special treatment or anything but I expect to not be harassed for anything. Like if I spent a minute after my purchase by the front door before I walked out cause I wanted to send a text because it's ten degrees outside and I don't want frostbite and they started to complain I'm loitering or gotta leave I would lose my shit on them. I'm a good customer is the point. Every worker knows my face. And well I recently went there for a bunch of things, light bulbs, shaving cream, q tips, depdddsnf, etc. I got the light bulbs first and since I had no basket as I grabbed the shaving cream, right before I grabbed it with my hang, I had to free one of my hands as each one had a light bulb 4 box in it. And it's winter and I'm wearing a big waist length north face with the fur hood and it's currently zipped down about 1/3. Making the Section below my chin where my jacket opens where the zipper part starts. great real estate to hold tings that my hands couldn't. And to do it in after way that doesn't scream shoplifting as the item is gonna be and was totally visible. Again. I'm there spending money daily buying lots of shit. I say hello to most staff because we're such familiar faces. Why would I rob them randomly. I simply placed the two 4 packs of regular sized bulbs and put them in my jacket like I mentioned. But not in the "I'm hiding this where no one case see it and doing it sketchily." It was literally hanging out the top of my jacket and was visible, on purpose, as I didn't want that misconstrued. It was a large north face with the fur hood and it was unzipped about 1/3 of the way to help you envision the situation. So I grab shaving cream and I am holding that and start towards the aisle for the next item when I hear "so you gonna put all of it in your jacket to steal it or what?" As I turn around thinking wtf this can't be happening. This lady Is trying to shame me when I acted in a way that was the farthest from a shop lifter. (Plus why would I shoplift from a store I got most de). Oh and after he rude comment she made a call on the radio bacislly reporting me as s shoplifter. At this point she's at the make up counter. I put down the bulbs. And cream and I say "lady, you are an asshole and you just lost this store servesk thousand dollars in revenue in the next year." CVS is my spot now. So far so good read more

This is a review for the Take Care Clinic inside the store. In and out really fast. I have a primary care doctor but this is great for minor things such as a cold or swimmers ear that need to be looked it. It's right next to work and I don't have to take an entire half day off. My last visit I was in and out within 30 minutes round trip. read more

I stopped in at the Take Care Clinic yesterday after dealing with a cold for about two weeks and an increasingly painful sore throat. I felt awful, but I didn't want to mess around with trying to get an appointment at my general physician's office and I had no desire whatsoever to go to an ER for what was obviously a non-emergency situation. I was able to check on the status of the line from the Walgreen's website before heading over - it was fairly accurate. I signed in, filled out a one-page form, and waited for about 20 minutes. I was seen by Sarah, a nurse practitioner. She determined that I had strep throat and wrote a prescription for antibiotics. I was able to have the prescription filled at a different pharmacy (I have nothing against this pharmacy, but I like to fill all of my prescriptions at the same place). Sarah also gave me some tips on what cold medicines would be most effective against my symptoms. All said, I was in and out of Walgreen's in about 40 minutes and the exam cost $106 (before insurance adjustments). This is way better than paying a multiple of that to spend hours in the ER somewhere. read more

I am baffled as to why this Walgreens is ALWAYS out of Chocolate Muscle Milk... The drink cases are full of extremely unhealthy sugary powerdrinks that are always overstock and no one buys them. Yet, Muscle Milk, low in sugar, high in protein, and a whopping 3.79 per pop is ALWAYS out. I almost dive tackled a guy leaving the store today because he had a chocolate one and I just KNEW it was the last one. How? Because they are always on sale for 2 for $7 and people always buy two... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't stock banana, strawberry, or vanilla... people want the chocolate one and I know you want to make money. It would be great to walk in and see a whole row of Muscle Milk with most of the rows chocolate. Thanks. read more

This Walgreens location is chaos. The pharmacists act as though you filling a prescription is an utter inconvenience. While sitting and waiting, you're inundated with music playing over the store's speakers, the Outcome Health sponsored television playing ambient pharma-sponsored commercial drivel, and continual PA announcements such as, "assistance needed at the front of the store." Perhaps the worst "waiting" experience I've ever had. read more

This is a review for their Take Care clinic. This is the best place to go for minor problems. I think of it as the grown-up version of a college student health center (although without the free condoms). I got my flu shot here, and I have gotten treated for other ailments a couple of times. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. When I got my flu shot, they kept the clinic open half an hour longer than normal so that they could see me. Service is usually prompt, but they are limited because they only have two clinic rooms. They take insurance, but they're pretty cheap even if you don't have insurance. They also list their prices up-front, so that you don't have any nasty (fiduciary) surprises. read more

My review is strictly for the Take Care Clinic. This place is an absolute Godsend for folks that don't have insurance. I' had been feeling crappy for the last 2 weeks and had reached my limit. So I decided to take a trip to the TCC during lunch. I was in and out in less than 25 minutes, yet I didn't feel rushed at all. The staff was professional, the prices are available up front so there' s no shock when you get the bill and the NP actually took the time to go over my health history and offered some great suggestions on my other health issues. All of this for LESS than $100, which also included the 'script for my antibiotics. Very happy, AND healthy! read more

This walgreens is pretty strange because it's not set up like normal walgreens', but they have an extensive selection (really, more than other walgreens' i've seen) of tights and pantyhose. And that's perfect if that's what you're looking for (it was!) Other than that, the place is kind of shabby looking and I didn't really see many people who were there working the aisles (which would've been nice)...but if you need tights, and are downtown, this is the place to go! read more

This is a review of the Take Care Clinic. After reading the reviews here on Yelp I thought the place sounded great. It was around 10:30am and after speaking to the pharmacist, I was able to walk in, fill out my information and be seen by the nurse practitioner within moments of arriving. Up until this point everything was great. When asked about my symptoms at first the nurse practitioner seemed to get a clear picture of what was wrong. I explained to her the medications I have been taking. I then went on to explain how the symptoms go on during the day; at this point she seemed to stop listening to me completely as I explained how long this had been going on and how it progressed and so forth. In the end, she said I have an infection and told me to take some over the counter medicine - the same things I told her I've been taking. In the end she gave me a fancy piece of paper saying I have a respiratory infection and to take more sudafed and mucinex with nyquil at night to sleep - the things I've been doing to try and get through the infection that haven't had any real effect besides making is easier to deal with these symptoms. I understand that perhaps a respiratory infection isn't the most serious of conditions but when paying 89$ out of pocket for the exact same advice that a pharmacist would give you (who suggested I see the Take Care clinic for antibiotics since it has been going on for over 14 days) and being rushed in and out before lunch time (there was one other woman waiting in the seating area) I can firmly say that I can't recommend their clinic at all. So, beware - from my experience they'll just tell you what a pharmacist will and try to push you in and out quickly without paying attention to details. read more

I think the clinic is a good place to go in theory. However, I thought the nurse practitioner had a horrible bedside manner. She answered questions well except for regarding the generic meds. Every question seemed like a bother to her. She was both impatient and impersonal. She typed I had no nausea though she did not ask me about it. She asked me what I took currently in regards to medicine and I told her the Walgreens name of the product. She ignored what I said though I told her the chemical names of the medications it contained. She told me she didn't know every product Walgreens carries. I thought that was crazy considering she worked there and at minimum should be familiar with what it carries! She then called me back from shopping for her and the pharmacist to tell me the drug I took was no longer made. I showed it to them on the shelf. I never once said I was a pharmacist. Someone left their visit history which was good so I can see Sarah, the NP, writes for tessalon perles 100mg for everyone. As I lay in bed unable to sleep for the second night since seeing her to help with my cold symptoms I regret not going to urgent care at my own doctors office. I paid cash for my visit AND got a ticket. I still love the idea of this clinic but I would not go back to this location. The medical assistant was nice though. read more
