I've seen this Trader Joe's when traveling to Chicago but I never actually stopped in until today. When I travel for work I like to get some non-dairy milk that I can have in the mornings, and I figured they would have a good selection. They have both non-refrigerated and refrigerated non-dairy milk. The fridge in my hotel room is rather small so I started off looking at the non-refrigerated. My favorite is almond milk but not the unsweetened, and unfortunately most of their selection was unsweetened. I ended up buying oat milk since it had 4 g of sugar. I did look at the refrigerated milk as well, they had what I wanted but it was in a standard size which I think will be too big. I came here on a Sunday night and it was kind of insanely crowded, lol, but I suppose that means it's Trader Joe's! I also perused the snack aisles and they have a lot of really nice stuff, if I wasn't in town attending a candy conference I would have bought some snacks for myself. I love this Trader Joe's! The employees are so friendly, everything is well organized, and the parking is (while still pretty stress inducing) one of the better parking situations I've seen at a TJ's! It is a bit of a hike for me to get here, but I come every month or so to stock up on my favorite items. I love the variety of produce and frozen foods. The snack items are also wonderful. I also really like the selection of florals. I threw a party with a DIY bouquet bar and picked up a bunch of flowers from this location. There was a great variety and pricing is not bad. The cashier even comped one of my bouquets as a gift since it was my birthday - this was an extra special touch that was so thoughtful and keeps me coming back. read more

Since discovering Trader Joe's, it has become my go-to destination for groceries. Trader Joe's at River North location may appear compact but they pretty much have all the stuff that you would expect at most TJs! TJ and Whole foods are the only two stores that keep bringing in innovative healthy Vegan products. The staff at Trader Joe's River North is consistently amicable and helpful, adding to the overall positive shopping experience. Its downtown proximity enhances its convenience, making it my top choice for grocery shopping. I highly recommend this store with an enthusiastic rating of 11/10! read more

We have one of these but ours does not sell "hard liquor". This place was down the street from our hotel. So that was a pleasant surprise. We tried the bourbon, and vodka both were decent. We had to doctor it up a bit with limes, a little juice, but the fact that we were able to get snacks, a little food and drink in one place was a plus in our book. I had forgotten to bring a bag, and the cashier was kind enough to not charge me for one. I reused it the rest of the trip! read more

The folks who work at this Trader Joe's location are literally the nicest, most helpful people on the planet! I needed help ordering lots and lots of flowers for an event. The manager helped me with all of it and the flowers were sublime! The staff loaded all the flowers into buckets and I to a cart and told me to just bring the cart back when it convenient for me. I have never encountered a less than absolutely pleasant person working there and that is something for them to be very proud of! Keep up the great work! read more

First thing... they offer free parking BUT it's only 60 minutes. I thought it was 90 and got hit for $28! Expensive lesson. So, if you have a lot of shopping to do and yo have driven there, be mindful of the time limit! I'm super mad about it. The store is clean and employees friendly. I was dismayed to hear 3 employees (females) working by the cheese dairy corner and one girl blurted out very loudly the "f" word. Yowza! I'm not gonna go tattle, but tact, please. Good selections of foods, although I find some of their fruits/veggies to be lesser quality at times. Great location, just be careful of your time if you are driving and park there. $28 was highway robbery. They should move to a validation system. Or I'll buy less and get out quicker. read more

This is my favorite grocery store. Things are priced just right. I prefer getting fresh cut flowers from here because of the price and the quality. The produce is of great quality as well. Do try their salad kits which are delicious. They also have ready to eat meal kits. Some of the favorite things to pick up from this grocery store are juices, coconut water, fresh produce, ready to eat salad kits, frozen Indian food, canned fizzy juices, potted plants. Also they have an amazing customer service, the staff is great, super nice and helpful. Have had the same experience in every Trader Joe's store I have been to. This store is never nearly as crowded as the one on Diversey. I have been to Roosevelt 2-3 times and the waiting is pretty reasonable. They have a good selection, not too pricey but not super cheap either. I do wonder why all TJs have such SMALL checkout areas. If they don't want the conveyor belt, fine, but why have this 10 inch wood platform that only 4 items can fit on at a time?? (Apologies, I don't have a picture but you all know what I mean right?) I like being able to fit a lot of products on at the same time, then watch the checkout screen to verify prices. What engineering genius thought this up? read more

My go-to local grocery store!! While Sundays and Mondays can be a bit of a madhouse, I find they are always quick to re-stock. Anytime I have issues finding a specific item or notice something is out, employees are always so helpful to check the back. My favorite store to get my groceries, I'm in this store a couple times a week picking up items for my daughter and I lunch. I think their products are great. The problem is the staff. They do NOT bag your things if you carry your own bag. They watch you do it or push it but they do not bag for you. Management needs to talk to them. They are cashiers, bagging is part of their job. read more

Trader Joe's is awesome! This is the only grocery store that sells fantastic frozen food that tastes like actual food! The produce section isn't the greatest, but the wine and frozen food section makes up for it. There is an abundance of wine ranging in price points. We love the white wine selection at this particular location. Chips and snacks are amazing here too. We love the white cheddar puffs and tortilla chips. I also really like the frozen artichoke dip. So yummy! Trader Joe's is a perfect combination of heathy and tasty foods. Frozen eggplants, delicious rice dishes, the list goes on and on! Obviously it's Trader Joe's, so it's awesome, but this TJ's in particular just makes me extra happy! I'm an odd person that goes grocery shopping when I'm stressed to relax (instead of clothes, I shop for healthy food, okay). The people here are just always so kind and always have a smile on their face, which puts one on mine! Not to mention, there are always samples of something, be it chocolate or wine, they got it! We love Trader Joe's. We buy their quart jar of cranberry juice, dilute it with equal part water, add their Stevia that comes loose in a jar and drink it for breakfast every day. Delicious, healthy and almost no calories. We also rely on their crumbled blue cheese to flavor our lunch salad and their Belgian chocolate bars. We have 2 squares after both lunch and dinner as dessert. They sell their own brands and prices are generally lower than at other grocery stores, including wine. This is my go to neighborhood TJ's and I'm so grateful to have it so close to me! The staff is super friendly and since the pandemic - has been doing a great job with ensuring that the store doesn't get too crowded, wiping everything down, and restocking their shelves! I can't imagine not living close to a TJs - a lot of my weekly staples come from here, but my all time favorite section of the store is the cheese section! They have a great variety of cheeses and they're all super delicious and affordable - if you haven't already, be sure to try my faves: olive oil and rosemary asiago, Italian truffle cheese, any of the goat cheeses [blueberry is amazing], and the wild mushroom brie! Their wine section is also great! While this particular store is on the smaller scale when compared to most TJ's, they still usually have ALL the stuff I love [and their cheese and wine section is not skimped on]! I don't have a car and am able to walk to this location; however, if you do have a car, they have free parking for shoppers for 60 minutes on the 2nd floor of the AC Hotel garage! There's an elevator that takes you straight into the store. The address for the garage is 630 N Rush Street - follow the signs to make sure you enter the section specifically for trader joes! read more

I had no idea there was a TJ's here! I wish I had known when I was working in the city more. Anyway, this location is awesome! I love that they have free parking and you can walk right into TJs, no need to go outside. It is a bit smaller than some stores, but they had everything I needed! This is not my usual Trader Joe's and after getting the lay of the land, I was able to find most things I needed. This store doesnt have as many frozen options as my normal store, but it does have a substantial fruit section, as well as wine and spirits. We did make the mistake of driving and picking the one parking lot that is not accepted as a TJ validation. So we paid 16.00 for about 40.00 worth of groceries. read more

Depending on when you go, this TJ's can have a line outside. It probably takes anywhere from 3-7 minutes to get in depending on the line. I would say they're sometimes out of items if you go on Friday's or the weekends, but they still have all the important items. They don't always have all the seasonal items or run out pretty quickly. Unless you're made of money and can drop $100 at Whole Foods every day, Trader Joe's is a fine alternative. Sure, the selection isn't as vast and the ambiance isn't as hipster, but for commoners like me, that's just fine. This place has everything you'd expect from a Trader Joe's, including prices, which were in line with my local TJ's back at home. We were able to get our snacks, wraps and more on the cheap. Vacationing on a budget. TJ's is never really a great option for produce, both in terms of selection and price. Mind you, this is far more than the kind of physical interaction with a stranger that I expect mid-pandemic. Does this happen to you at any place other than, say, the DMV or the cash-strapped post office where I make a point of using cash specifically for this reason? Never mind chip or swipe. How about tap-and-go? I had my dedicated grocery-store credit-card number used by a stranger online not long ago, and I am deeply troubled by this store's lackadaisical attitude toward bolstering its credit-card security. We don't have TJ in Canada, so this was an exciting trip. They had so many things I wanted to try, and things I've never seen or only read about. Honestly, the matcha greek yogurt was one of the best things I ate on the whole trip. Really great pit stop, or if you're like us, you can pick up some snacks for the hotel room (we got some crackers, cheese, meat, and some cool craft beer). Love Trader Joe's! We came here several times for lunch and snacks on a recent trip to Chicago. Staff were friendly and cashiers gave my son stickers a few of the times we visited, which he loved. I have to say, I was very disappointed in a turkey and cheese sandwich I bought that had literally a sliver of turkey in it. And they only sell individual beers/ciders in 4's or 6's (can't remember the exact number). However, the "two buck chuck" more than makes up for any of Trader Joes' shortcomings. $2 bottles of wine that are actually drinkable? Get the hell out of here!
