This is THE cleanest & well organized Asian supermarket in Chinatown. It's right by the powerhouse, Park to Shop, where its known to be the best place to get the most variety, best and freshest Asian groceries. So it's quite daring to open up a market right by them but I love the competition! It promotes improvements and a fairer price. They have plenty of dry food, meat and seafood but vegatables and fruits are lacking. I think it has most of what a normal shopper needs, but I have yet to compare the price. This will be my bottom line, but for some, cleanliness may be a higher priority.

This was our first real visit here.  And actually we only came here because Mayflower Food, an old favorite located in Chinatown Square on Archer, was found vacated and had a sign pointing to this address.  I'm not sure if Mayflower is now part of this chain or not, but that's neither here nor there.  This grocery store has, uniquely for Chinatown, an indoor parking lot, but it is small and accommodates only maybe 16 cars.  The other reaction I had was that after our last Asian grocery stop at steroid sized 88 Marketplace, this store seemed like a little mom and pop corner grocery store, but that was just a psychological aberration.  It's actually a full sized and well stocked Asian grocery.  It's also located virtually right next door to a formidable and popular competitor, Park to Shop, so I guess they will just duke it out.  We actually shop a lot at Park to Shop, but I just have never bothered to review.  I didn't really check, but I assume the prices must be competitive as the wife bought stuff and didn't complain. The only difference I really noticed was that J Freshmart may have a little larger seafood selection.

Main entrance, you must go through the parking garage.

It's a big store so I'm sure they are a go to Chinese grocery.

I'm not sure why it's taking me years to do this review however I've been going to seafood city…read moresupermarket since they opened this Chicago location years ago. When it first opened, it was great to see how bright and clean it was and to see all of the incredible stacked foods and items. However, over the years it's definitely been worn down a little bit and could use a new refresh. What has been good is that they really expanded some of the seating area as well as the seafood city Grill area and the food offerings. However even this is slightly inconsistent as far as what's available when it's open, etc. It's also great that this particular location also is able to build out some of the other additional vendors like the bakery by Valerio. Again, though, I wish there was a little bit more consistency and organization throughout. Parking lot is has been quite ample except during peak times. I really wish they would open one in the suburbs as well. The only major disappointing thing was I used to carry the best Chicharron by Saint Michaels and then they absolutely abused and price gouged the bags. And eventually they stopped carrying it. I however, have gone directly to the stores to purchase.

The store is well-organized and clean. As for the grill, I feel like they need to figure things out. On a recent visit, I ordered the pork skewers and the pancit palabok. The pork skewers taste better and are less fatty than before, however, the pieces are much smaller and the price for 4 is $16!!! Huh? These better be organic, happy pigs for that price! The palabok was OK, a little bland. They put a few shrimp in and a couple pieces of hard boiled egg in after putting it in the container which made me feel like they have really done some cost cutting measures. Honestly, I think the call is to eat next door at Max's and then grocery shop. I stopped at the bakery shop conveniently located on my way out and bought pandesal and ensaymda. But I'm guessing that's for a different review! Overall, this place is great for my Filipino staples, not for a eating a meal (unless you don't mind spending $$$).

This is the perfect size for making mohinga (Burmese catfish soup). They also have a fish service counter if you need them to cut it into smaller pieces. They have nice big sturdy plastic bags that can fit the whole fish. They have separate service counters for chicken, fish, and beef/pork which is helpful to reduce cross contamination. It's super cold so make sure you bring a down jacket and beanie! The service line sometimes takes a bit of time so just be aware of that. There are plenty of other meat offerings like whole chicken, pork, sausage, beef, etc. All of them look really fresh and very competitive pricing. There's also a grocery store section where you can buy fresh vegetables, spices, and even baked goods like paczkis. The Bavarian cream paczki was delicious and not too sweet. There's also bulk frozen foods like fries and jalapeno poppers (if I remember correctly). Finding a whole catfish in Chicago can be difficult and I'm glad I can always trust Peoria packing for my catfish needs. The whole 2 lb catfish was only $6, incredible deal! The parking lot is decently sized, on a busy day like Christmas or Thanksgiving you can drive further near where the trucks are parked and park along the fence. For special holiday hours they were responsive both through Instagram DM and phone calls to confirm their hours! Really great service. They recently moved to this new location in October 2025. It used to be near Fulton Market in West Loop. Different location but same great service and item selection, probably more spacious too.

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.
