The fish was great, the price was just as good. Ordering over the phone wwas easy, the only problem was they gave us 4 pieces of o-toro that we didn't order which totalled $25. This was one of the first places I got to-go sushi from after having a baby from a friend's recommendation. It was exceptionally fresh, but my partner had a little difficulty finding parking (I think he ended up parking on a side street). The restaurant is cash only, so come prepared to pay with cash instead of card. They were fairly speedy with our medium sized platter, and we honestly fought over all of the rolls we ordered -- as in, I was counting the number of salmon rolls I was eating to ensure I was getting my fair share, haha. The amount of publicity and social media hype this place gets is absolutely deserving of its spot. The amount of sushi options they have and the absolute presentation in chef's kiss. The quality is definitely better than places I usually frequent (ayce spots) and they have cuts of fish that is generally not available or is only available for an egregiously high price. The quality is surprisingly good, didn't know the Midwest was able to find fish this good. I kinda messed up the order, but it still worked out The individual nigiri (ōtoro, fatty salmon, and eel) were THICCCK and delicious. Everything is made fresh to order, so there is a bit of a wait, but it's 100% worth it. Not to mention, all the prices are SO inexpensive for the quality of the fish. Called around 10:30a Saturday to get a 3A maki tray for that day at 2pm for our annual Hallmark Holiday Movie day with the girls. Found out that there's a 30 minute loading zone across the street which worked perfectly because I was in and out of the store in under 5-minutes. I was in and out so quick that I didn't catch if they even had music playing. They have a bunch of other food available, aside from sushi, and some fish in their case on display. There's also a free tables available to dine in if you'd like to. Which is definitely something I plan on doing very soon. The guys making sushi are back there knocking these beautiful and DELICIOUS trays and other food out and the gentleman at the register was so kind,m and effluent. The amount of times I've heard this spot hyped up is quite high, and it honestly met the expectations that were set. The fish was fresh, service was fast, and prices were incredible. I'd probably come here all the time if I lived in Chicago. It's in a really unassuming spot and has very limited side-by-side/bar-esque seating. You're able to dine in, but it seems like it's intended to be a quick stop. It also offers a lot of products (snacks, beverages, pre-made hot foods, merch) that you can purchase. Everything on the menu sounded so, so good, and I trust that you can't go wrong with anything. The rolls are cut into small, easy-to-pop-into-your-mouth pieces. Their uni nigiri was so good, I ordered more despite how stuffed I was after I finished everything. That said, ever since they opened the second location and gotten some more press this place is crowded, especially on the weekends. They quoted me 40 minutes for pick up on a Saturday night and it ended up being almost an hour. Still totally worth it but you've been warned. read more

Good value one of our go to sushi spots for take out. We have been going to this location for 10 years. Never a problem.

Simply put, this might be the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Their menu is huge, the sushi is super fresh, and the prices are hard to beat. The real hidden gem is that the sushi is so cheap, yet has some of the freshest fish I have ever eaten. My personal favorite is the firecracker roll which is SPICY! They also have a diced salmon sushi which I think is the perfect consistency and bite for a roll. If this place has any "downside", its that they only take cash and everything seems to be made from scratch so it takes awhile if you are ordering in. Sometimes high quality takes some time. Either way, this will be my sushi spot from now on. Well worth the trip and something for everybody! read more

I'd definitely recommend calling to order ahead of time on busier nights. For $40, the sushi itself was high quality and enough for 2 people to feel full and satisfied afterwards. This was the first time I ever tried Uni. My sister was always raving about Uni so I had to give it a try. The Uni was ok but I wasn't wowed by it. My personal favorite is Hamachi. This fish is so delicious it's almost buttery & just melts in your mouth w/a little soy sauce & wasabi. Absolutely delicious. Lately I prefer sake to maguro. To me the sake of prepared right is also very succulent & just melts in your mouth. Lawerence Fish Market has good quality sashimi w/decent prices, but limited seating. There have a limited a number of seats but they are mainly a cash & carry type place.
