I was excited to go to an all you can eat sushi place, especially since I was HUNGRY. I ordered their miso soup and their vegetable tempura as appetizers. That was good. Then I picked out 3 rolls. They were ok. I guess one way to fill you up at an all you can eat is to add extra rice to the rolls. That's what I got and boy did that fill me up. When I was down to my last few rolls I started just picking out the middle part and leaving the rice behind. I was stuffed! Sushi World located in McCormick across the street from Home Depot. Sushi World is an AYCE Sushi for $23.95 @ lunchtime. The presentation is nice, the quality of the sushi is pretty good but the sashimi pieces are very thin. Like the old Wendy's commercial show me the meat or in this case show me the fish lol. I started w/some miso soup, 4 pieces of fried scallops, 2 pieces of crab Rangoon & seaweed salad. In addition I had 2 pieces of sake (salmon), 3 pieces of white maguro (tuna) & 3 pieces of hamachi (yellowtail (my favorite). After this I ordered 4 more fried scallops, 2 sake, 2 hamachi & another seaweed salad. Yan was my server she provided excellent service always there asking me if I needed something. I went to a different AYCE Sushi restaurant a few days ago where the server was non existent. Thank you Yan for providing excellent service for. The quality of sushi was good but the portion sizes were very thin, excellent service. Would I go back again? Yes Lately I've been on a sushi kick. Ok I really do miss sushi buffets! I can kill a few rolls for sure. Well this is really cool. For less than $32 bucks with tax and tip it's an awesome deal. My girlfriend is a regular here and she loves it!! Definitely worth the 30 min trip for me to come out and meet her for lunch. I had quite a few appetizers. Vegetable tempura, seaweed salad, fried scallops, vegetable jar umami, and sesame balls!!! I could have stopped there but I ended up with 3 rolls!! And several pieces of sushi. Mind you. I was really hungry at the moment. Spider roll, Tokyo roll, salmon roll, and k would have gotten more but I resisted !! Sushi world is pretty decent. Their service is good and employees are attentive! The prices have gone up since they first opened, but are pretty good for the sushi options they have per menu. I wish they added different rolls to their menu though, so there's a bit of change. Of this trip's lunch ayce, I thought the sushi was okay. The rolls were pretty big and have a good amount of filling, but there was also a little too much rice. I enjoyed the salmon avocado roll the most because of the buttery texture of the avocado and salmon together. My least favorite was the spicy tuna. There really wasn't much spicy mayo and heat, and the tuna was a bit too mushy for me. I would've preferred it to be less finely ground. Overall, my brother and I ate our money's worth. Next time, I think I would pay the extra $5 for the dinner ayce menu so I can choose more signature rolls :) read more

Food is decent. They mince up their tuna and salmon in certain rolls which made my daughter vomit. After it happened a male host or I'm guessing the manager a short, bald headed, big belly man yelled at my wife and I, telling us we shouldn't over feed our children, which wasn't even the reason she vomited. My daughter said she didn't like the minced tuna texture and it felt slimy and got stuck in her throat which made her vomit. We apologized for what happened and even helped clean up. I don't think customers should ever be yelled at for something that was just an accident, especially in front of children. We use to go once a month because the kids loved to eat there even had a couple gatherings there, but after this incident my family will never go back there again! read more

Came here twice within a month of trying this place, and I love it. I come here for AYCE sushi, and their rolls are so large, fresh, and filling. Sometimes AYCE places give you lower quality sushi or the rolls are super small, but this place is so worth $23.99. They also have all of their appetizers included in the AYCE price, as well as all of the signature rolls. I also appreciate that they give you a menu so you can look at what each specialty roll has inside so not only can you see a picture of it, but you can see if anything is inside that you may not like. My favorite rolls include the "Crunchy 2 in 1" (salmon tempura, avocado topped w/ spicy crab meat & tempura crunch), "Crazy Salmon Roll" (spicy salmon & crunch topped w. fresh salmon & spicy mayo), and the "Angel Wings" (shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber topped w. crab meat eel sauce spicy mayo). As you can tell, I LOVE salmon and crab meat! Their rolls do have a good balance of meat and rice, unlike a lot of places that have way too much rice. I also love their edamame, even though it is extremely salty, their gyoza, and the crab rangoons. So delicious!! For such good quality sushi, the food comes out pretty quickly, and the staff is nice and always comes around to check on you. My second visit here was a little worse in customer service because she didn't check in as much and didn't really say anything to us, but they always come around to fill water cups. Looking from the outside, this place almost looks like a bar or a lounge. There are neon lights and signs that make me feel that they would have slot machines or something inside, so I was a little apprehensive to try it at first. However, my friends brought me here because they ate here before, and the inside doesn't give me a bar/sloppy vibe at all. It's pretty nice inside and it is very clean. We decided to pick up from here since they have a great to go special of only $19.99 for 3 rolls and 8 pieces of sushi. They have a few other options for this same price as well. We decided to order the Tuna Avocado Roll (great), the Spider roll (not great), the Crunchy roll (so-so) and then for our 8 pieces of sushi we went with all salmon (so-so as well). I was a little apprehensive about eating here because I'm not a fan of all-you-can-eat restaurants. I'm a small person and the large price tag for an endless amount of food is wasted on me. However, on my second visit, I was told I could order ala carte from the lunch menu, and I have to tell you, what an amazing selection and high-quality sushi. The first few rolls we got did not contain avocado even though the description included avocado. They were basically just chopped cucumbers wrapped in rice with a tiny bit of fish. A lot of the tempura rolls were just pieces of tempura with no meat, wrapped in rice. These included the Angry Dragon as well as a speciality roll that included shrimp tempura. Please do yourself a favor and don't order the. The sashimi is very good but you only get three pieces per special roll order. The seaweed salad lacks the crunch I typically enjoy, it is just basic. Went recently and paid $26.99 a person and I thought it was probably better going to some other place with better sushi. Been to Sushi World a couple of times and its always been consistent in a good way. Sushi World makes delicious rolls and nigiri. They have an AYCE option for lunch and dinner with the dinner menu being around 6 dollars more at 28.99 while lunch is around 22.99. The dinner menu has alot more signature rolls and appetizers to choose from. I like being able to get sashimi AYCE menu when ordering signature rolls. My only thing I dislike here is that most of their signature rolls have cream cheese. My favorite roll here is the baked dragon on fire. Its really good imo. Service is here friendly and fast for the most part. Plenty of seats and free parking. Definitely one of the better AYCE sushi options to try in Chicago. read more

Walking in it feels modern and a smaller setting with darker decor. The list of items to choose from for the AYCE is pretty extensive especially for the variety of rolls they have. The nigiri selection is pretty standard with nothing out of the ordinary. The rolls seemed to be not as big compared to some other places, which for all you can eat isn't such a bad thing, allows me to eat and try more. The nigiri is definitely smaller and more bite sized than your standard nigiri. Perfect for young children for sure. The rice on the nigiri was a little on the harder side and not as well cooked. When we went the restaurant was decently full on a weekend night. But the service was extremely slow even for a made to order AYCE sushi place. At one point I noticed our order was done and sitting on the counter. When we had asked the waitress about it, she seemed surprised that we had wanted the sushi and didn't want to first eat and finish our appetizers before eating the sushi. There is really not much to say about Sushi World. The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious. This is one of the few places where you can not only order nigiri but also straight sashimi. There is an excellent variety of fish and specialty rolls. What blew me away was the speed. Many AYCE places will take forever to get you your orders. They had our order out in just a few minutes. Its like they have miracle workers at the sushi bar. My only complaint and admittedly is nitpicky beyond belief is that all of the spicy rolls have tempura flakes. This is definitely a gem. The rolls are very well sized. Thin layer of rice and plenty of fish so yiu can try lots of them without filling up. They also have sashimi options which i love.
