    Lobster roll

We stopped in to order a Lobster Roll. I haven't had one in a while and was really craving one. They weren't the most friendly here and looked at us very oddly when we were there. The Lobster roll was pricey, but not justifiable. It tasted ok, but feel like it was all lobster. Legit lobster rolls have chunks of lobster meat including full lobster claws. I would saw they use about 50 percent lobster meat and the rest I'd just filler. It's hard to say what else it had mixed in with it, but I for sure won't be back. Perhaps if they would have been a bit more friendly and welcoming, but nah.

I live close to this place and I was excited to tried the Lobster roll , I was only one customer there and this place is so quiet . ... It's cost $19 . After I took the food back home less then 5 mins ... I was so disappointed , the Lobster roll was tasteless ... and the rolls was cold I called to explained that I was disappointed, and the lady owner or manager said they been there over 25 years and they on a lot of food magazines , and they not gonna change the recipe ! Well , no more for this place . Good luck for your business then .

The FishGuy Market is located @ 4423 N Elston Avenue. Like many of the places I have driven by this place many times but for whatever reason had never gone in that is until today. I was reading the reviews on Yelp and they were quite favorable, rating at 4.5 stars. I finally went in today and was greeted by Janet. She is very friendly, knowledgeable about the products and willing to take the time to explain to me what the different types of fish & seafood were. She was very helpful and went on to tell me that on Tuesday (and as luck would have it today is Tuesday) they have select seafood items for $10.00/lb. The selection items vary from week to week. This week was Monkfish (which has been compared to the poor mans lobster, red fish (to red snapper) & white Bass In addition there was also a deal on Yelp for $30.00 worth of seafood for $24.00. The FishGuy deals wholesale to restaurants, retail to the public and has a small dining area for people interested in having their meals prepared. I did meet Bill the owner who came out while I was snapping some photos. We talked for a bit and he determined I meant no ill will so everything was cool. I would like to go back at some point and try some of their prepared foods

This place is a seafood market but they also serve brunch/lunch. I've been here twice now just to eat, and the quality of the seafood is incredible. I had the best crab cake of my life here. We once met Bill, the owner, and had a nice conversation with him about how he goes about sourcing his fish and his passion for it. Apart from just seafood, they also carry wagu beef, and a few other quality, non-fish products. Overall, it's a great place. The concept is simple but they execute everything well. The entire team is also very friendly and conversational.

After the first visit, I was curious as to some of the other offerings that The FishGuy Market has on the menu. I was actually blown away this second go around. Grilled prawns with pernod butter, petite salad. Seafood of the day. The petite salad was not petite, and I will NOT complain about that. Not only were the shrimp plump, but the grilled eggplant with broccoli and corn were enough to make the salad seem like entree portions. The seafood of the day was lemon fish -- I think that's the name of the fish I recall -- with vegetarian couscous. Again, I was completely wowed with this dish. At most seafood restaurants, lobster rolls seem to be the one item that everyone rushes to buy. As to The FishGuy Market, I am more inclined to sample their other seafood offerings. I haven't had any other items that I didn't fall in love with after the first bite.

Amazing fish and great service every time I am in there which is every few weeks. It's never a bad meal when cooking the seafood from here.

When it first opened, it was great to see how bright and clean it was and to see all of the incredible stacked foods and items. However, over the years it's definitely been worn down a little bit and could use a new refresh. What has been good is that they really expanded some of the seating area as well as the seafood city Grill area and the food offerings. However even this is slightly inconsistent as far as what's available when it's open, etc. It's also great that this particular location also is able to build out some of the other additional vendors like the bakery by Valerio. Again, though, I wish there was a little bit more consistency and organization throughout. Parking lot is has been quite ample except during peak times. I really wish they would open one in the suburbs as well. The only major disappointing thing was I used to carry the best Chicharron by Saint Michaels and then they absolutely abused and price gouged the bags. And eventually they stopped carrying it. I however, have gone directly to the stores to purchase.

After reviewing Google, we found out they have sashimi platter deals Wednesdays and Fridays for just $30. Given that sushi prices in Chicago are at a premium, we opted to go for this deal and make our own sushi at home. It was awesome: salmon, tuna, and around three other types of fish served on top of julienned radish. They gave pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce as well but only one of each. (I would pick up more in store, along with nori and rice vinegar if you want to make rolls). I imagine using this fish for a poke bowl would be fantastic. The platters are a first come first serve item, so be aware of this should you want to get it like we did. We honestly didn't have any issues purchasing on a Friday.
