    Mar y Tierra El Compadre

I ate dinner here a week ago and I can't stop thinking about the food! First time visiting and I ordered the Pescado Mojarra Platillo (a whole fried tilapia) with the Nayarit style sauce--absolutely delicious! The fish was deep fried with a crisp exterior but maintained its flakiness inside and was full of flavor with plenty for leftovers. Their rice is truly special I'm not sure how they prepare it but it's delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Mar y Tierra el compadre (steak and shrimp platter) and his steak was cooked a perfect medium. He was warned by our server the shrimp were "very spicy" but he has a high spice tolerance and didn't find them to be overly spicy. Atmosphere was great with the live mariachi band but be advised it is a very loud and lively environment. Strawberry margaritas were fresh with a healthy amount of tequila and did not have the artificial syrup taste with very little alcohol that we've experienced in other establishments-very good. There was one small mishap with my meal arriving with very little fries on the side (visible in photo). Without me saying anything, the runner immediately says "I'll bring you more fries". I waited a long time but after a few check ins from the server I did eventually receive a hot and fresh side of fries that were very good despite the initial delivery and wait time. All in all a wonderful dining experience and cannot wait to return again soon!

I have been looking for a marisco restaurant and this did not disappoint. The food is so flavorful that it reminded me of my vacations growing up in Mexico going to the beach and eating fresh seafood. I came to La Costa as a girls night as one of my friends that I was with would come here often. She knew exactly what to order and the quantity given per plate was a perfect size. This is a location where I see myself coming back often to be able to try the other items on the menu. To top it off, having live music with your meal is the cherry on top. Do note, that if you do sit close to the musicians, it will make it a little hard to talk with your group but either way it was a nice touch to go with the meal.

La comida riquísima las bebidas. Excelente. Le doy 4 estrellas por que. La música en vivo el mariachi me gusta pero si voy a un restaurant a compartir con mi familia a platicar. NO SE PUEDE POR QUÉ HAY DEMASIAO RUIDO POR EL MARIACHI

Visited here on a Monday night, vibe was good, service was great, and of course food was yummy!!! You just have to decide, you want to go with jumbo or tray!! And bravo if you can finish the tray!! If you don't want to get messy, go with the Chapuzon... Got two jumbos and a couple of beers, $160, that's average for seafood. Will be coming back!!!

Okay y'all mira!!!!! Dinner here had all the vibes! The space is BIG, there's a LIVE BAND and they even have an outdoor patio in the back, but this food!!! Eats: Empanadas de Camarón/Shrimp empanadas Piña Rellena - shrimp, crab, scallops, chopped clam and octopus cooked in a sauce with bell peppers, cheese, pineapple and mushrooms! La Costa grilled steak Coronarita The shrimp empanadas were SO GOOD! The empanada dough was flakey and perfectly fried! And that cheese - YUMMY! The piña rellena was just WOW! I'm not sure how one person is supposed to get through it all because it definitely looks like it's meant for a whole table to share! It is EXTREMELY FILLING and comes with a side of rice, bread, fries and salad. You already can see the drinks were on point as well as the live band! If you're not a fan of loud noise, you may want to avoid coming here when the band is scheduled to perform. Take your appetite and tell 'em that Planes and Plates sent you! Enjoy!

La Costa how far you've fallen. Management has gotten comfortable and it shows in how the waitress address guests and the food quality. I ordered Caldo de camaron and a pasta en salsa verde. Both extremely watered down. I remember when the sauce was creamy - this was disgustingly runny. The caldo de camaron watery with no flavor. I have patronized this location since 2014 and sadly this will be my last time. This is not only dissapointing, it is incredibly unacceptable that you'd serve this low quality food and still have the audacity to charge $25 and up for it.

This is hands down my favorite marisco restaurant in the north side. Anytime I am in the area I have to stop by. It had been a couple years since my last visit and still iut is just as authentic and flavorful as I remember. I came at noon and that was the first time I didn't have to wait to be seated. I'll tell you the wait is worth it. I tried the mojara de ajo and asked for Nayarit sauce on the side. The sauce wasn't so spicy but it was delicious to dip in. The ceviche was yummy and fresh. The langostinos are amazing, the sauce is to die for. I kept dipping my fries in it. They also sell liquor. On the weekends they have live music. It's a great place for seafood ! Must try!!

Hands down my favorite mariscos place in the city. The vibe is so much fun, especially when the live mariachi band is performing. No matter what you order here, you will be getting a HUGE portion packed with tons of flavor. I got the Pina Rellena. The dish is a blend of seafood in sauce served in a whole pineapple. It comes with a side of rice, fries, and salad to top it all off. If you're looking for an extra good time, you can get large fruity margarita! Service is also incredibly attentive. La Costa is a hidden gem for sure!

Every year I try to find a different location to celebrate my mom's birthday along with my brother and dad. I decided to check this place out; it was a very good choice. The food was really good, the atmosphere was nice, a little loud but that's expected (my brother and I were the loud ones), and the service was awesome,as well. If you love seafood this is a good place you should mark for places to visit. If you're like me and I'm not big on seafood, they have great steaks.

4 boxes of leftovers!! After 3 people eating that plate.

100% recommend this place!! Great food & great drinks. The portions are massive and that is my kind of restaurant! The price is definitely worth the amount of food you get so be ready to spend $30-$50 (no tip) per person and taking food home with you! We (a group of 3) got a large plate (in the picture) and we felt like we each ate for 2 people. Afterwards, we all had boxes to go home! So beautiful. Flavorful. They give you tostadas & crackers with a dip as appetizers. Even that was awesome! This place makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Also, drinks are huge too! Good as well. Only thing that was "ehh" was the mariachi band that was playing was SO loud I couldn't talk to my table most of the time. Unless I wanted to lose my voice yelling or had to wait in between songs. They played good music though! Passionate. Personal Review: 9.1/10

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. She stopped once to take our order and once to bring the drinks. That's it. We did not get checked on until we were already almost done with our food. Cute patio. Inside seating wasn't busy at all.

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it!
