The worst 7-Eleven! Though this location is in my neighborhood I refuse shop anywhere where the customer service is awful. The sale items are always place in incorrect places and the prices can be outrageous. Did I mention TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE?!?! The cashier on the morning of 3/4/25 was very rude. There was an entire rack of items under a sale sign and she refused to honor the sale and change the sign after me. Her rude and arrogant behavior is what did it for me! read more

I live nearby so pass by here frequently. There are a lot of men that sit immediately outside the door and ask for money, while a few are nice there are a few others that have followed me for a few steps and said some lewd comments, and another guy that just shouts and screams constantly- and it is really challenging to enter exit the store, you feel trapped inside. I wish the door on the other side of the street was usable so there was another way to exit. The interior is fine it has a nice alcohol selection and it currently has an Amazon package pick up locker but overall it definitely feels kind of sketchy and not worth the chance of getting harassed. There is a target or Walgreens down the street with a lot of the same options and not nearly as many issues so I would recommend there instead. read more

As 7-11's new concept store- this location does a great job in showcasing "fresh to go" items and merchandises things in a consumer friendly way. In store- they have the "Farmers Fridge" concept which is a modern vending machine that dispenses freshly prepared salads and other "healthier options". I liked the display of "Fast Fruit" which is fruit that is ready to go for the consumer. And the display of the peppers and limes and avacados to make guacamole was also quite interesting. Oh sure- there are the standard things that 7-11 offers like the coffee bar, alcohol and sundries for you to purchase. But the interesting thing about this concept is all the "grab and go" healthier snack items that seem to abound. The other thing to note is that the staff at this 7-11 were some of the nicest people I've ever seen at a 7-11. Personable, helpful and they actually seemed like they wanted to be working there! It's been awhile since I've been to a 7-11 but after a night out and coming across this place it brought back so many memories. The thing is, most 7-11s I've been to are much larger than this one. This one is more of an express version of the 7-11s I've been to. I have to say though that I'm happy they didn't have some of the new food I tried when I was younger because I'd be majorly out of shape! I came across some Frankenstein of a food when they had buffalo chicken things that looked like a mix of a hot dog and taquito and decided to get 2 since there was a special. DAMN THEY'RE DELICIOUS!!! I doubt they're real chicken but they're really delicious! I think my favourite thing at this location was some of the riff raff that come in and the fact that the staff were super cool to them vs trying to be rude and kick them out! Normally I wouldn't review a convenience store because standards are typically low. Is it open and does it sell what I want. But I'm a big slurpee fan and I live in the area. The one on E Ohio is trash and their slurpee machine follows suit. This location is just a few blocks away and we'll worth the walk for me! It's clean, well lit, and the slurpee machines are the best in the area. My experience with the staff has also been very positive. They're pleasant, helpful, and provide excellent service. 7-Eleven gets a bad rap. Sadly, most of the time, the bad rap is completely justified. I've been in 7-Elevens that I wouldn't have taken my dear old mother into for fear of offending her delicate sensibilities. Some of these places, Slurpee or no Slurpee, are just &#$%ing nasty. The 7-Eleven at McClurg and Ontario, however, isn't too bad at all. In fact, it's generally clean, well stocked, well lit, well staffed and not altogether unpleasant to visit when one hankers for a hunk of cheese (or whatever). You can get a Slurpee the size of your head or a 55-gallon drum of Diet Coke (ok, not really), smokes if you are into that sorta thing, candy, chips, dip, a slightly over/undercooked wiener (with bun!)... you name it. It's a convenience store, it's got a boatload of convenient stuff (forget your prophylactic while visiting your girl/fella in Streeterville? This is your place, brother). Some have commented on the prices - they are a bit high, but it's a convenience store in downtown Chicago. The sales tax alone is, like, 115%. You ever check out the property taxes down here? This particular 7-Eleven has given nothing but poor customer service the past two times I've been here. The first time I visited, which was a few weeks ago, the person behind the counter scolded me like a child because I did not scratch off the bar code on a winning scratch off ticket. Seeing as I didn't have anything to scratch the ticket with, I asked if he had a coin or a scratcher (that MOST Lottery vendors have on hand) to use. Of course, he scolds me again and tells me that he didn't have anything and that it was MY responsibility to do it. I left. Dude, it's a $5.00 winning ticket. No need to get all up in arms over it. The second time I visited, which was two days ago, a different person behind the counter gave me so much grief over (again) a winning scratch off ticket and purchasing additional tickets, that I just gave up and left. First, she asked me how much the winning ticket was for, even though she was looking directly at the ticket and could see for herself. Then, I wanted to play ONE number for the Lottery, and she wanted me to fill out a full play slip just for ONE number. Then she had an attitude over it when I told her "never mind". As 7 Elevens go this is probably the nicest one I've ever been in. It has a totally different look than your average 7 Eleven and it's selection of healthy options is a little bit larger than most. The store is very clean with wide isles and a large wine & beer selection. The guy behind the counter was very nice and friendly. We go to this 711 a lot, its in walking distance of our apartment. They sometimes have things you run out of right away and if you don't have to go to the large market, this is great. They' ve recently remodeled and created more appealing displays. They've also added Red Box! If there's time you want to sese a move that isn't on Netflix or tv, this is really convenient. You can't expect more than a "certain thing" out of a 711 but this locale provides all you would expect and more. I think if you live locally you'll be impressed. I also forgot to metnion that there's a reasonably decent liquor section and again not as good prices as a larger store but great in a pinch. We like this store! This is definitely the most trendy 7 eleven that I have ever been to. It's bright and clean. They even have a cute produce section with avocados. They're good to pick up a quick snack or late night meal. They have the standard frozen pizza and easy mac but also have hummus and pretzels, salads, and Amy's bowls. My husband likes their cold beer and I'm a fan of the wine section. They have some decent wine options that you won't be embarrassed to bring to a friend's house. read more

Let me start off by saying that the 4 stars is a reflection of the Latina ladies that work in the morning. They are helpful friendly and they always make my day when I go in there to buy coffee or cheap lunch. Ok so I know that the food there is so not good for you but when you are in a pinch (like the day before payday) and you need lunch their $1 slices of pizza and 2 for $2 hotdogs are awesome. I love that they have chili and cheese so that you can make chili cheese dogs. Their store brand chips are also very yummy and less than a buck. They periodically have coupons on the fridges as well as by the chips that you can save a dollar with the purchase of both which is always a win. Their milk is also way cheaper than the nearby stores which is awesome when I need to buy some for home. I visited the 7-Eleven location at 201 E Ohio St. this morning, 11/10/2016 at 3:00 A.M. I was hoping to purchase something to go with my lunch that I brought from home, a delicious, yet cold, sealed and microwave-safe container half-full of beef stew that I made at home the day before. You see, I work the graveyard shift and my lunch options downtown in the middle of the night are limited, to say the least. So, if I want to eat a healthy meal, I need to bring my own if I want to keep costs in my favor. Anyway, I entered this establishment with my container of food in hand and asked the store associate very politely if she could please warm up my stew in the microwave for me while I look around the store. She looked at me as if I just asked her to chop off her pinky toe and said "No," without hesitation. Why not? You can't bring outside food in here. You do have a microwave? WE have a microwave, yeah. And you won't heat up my stew for me? Naw. That's just crazy. Yeah, u-huh. C'mon, please? It's cold outside and I need to eat some lunch. --- Well, I'm not buying anything here. Out the revolving door and into the chilly morning I went, cold stew and grumbling belly in tow. Feeling a bit frustrated and desperate, I remembered that there is another 7-Eleven just two blocks away, at 600 N McClurg Court. I leapt back into my company vehicle and within forty seconds, I was walking into this location, same beef stew and same grumbling belly in tow. Hey man. How are ya? Can you please warm up my stew in the microwave for me? I opened the lid a bit so it won't pop off. Sure, no problem. I remember what happened the last time with your chilli. Thanks. I'm gunna look around for a bit. Cool. Wow. That was easy. So, I picked out my selections to compliment my delicious, and now being nuked to heated happiness, beef stew, which was a can of Arizona green tea and a small bag of Stacy's parmesan- garlic and herb pita chips, and by the time I made it back to the counter, beeeep! - my stew was optimally heated, a transaction that took maybe three minutes. Thanks man! Is it hot enough? Oh, wait. The top is bubbling up. Yep, it's hot enough. Do you need a spoon and some napkins? They're right over there. Naw. I have that stuff in my truck, thanks. I really like having this nice 7 Eleven in the neighborhood. They will make you breakfast, there is a great salad vending machine with fresh salads, and even a small section with fresh fruit. I hadn't been to this 7/11 location in a long time and boy has it changed! Stopped in today for a few drug store essentials because Walgreens wasn't open yet, and found that they've completely redesigned the layout and concept. The store is clean and well organized. I liked the open feeling of the layout, rather than congested aisles. They have a convenient small selection of produce essentials like onions, tomatoes, avocados, bananas, etc., loads of healthy to-go food options, and a super cute wine selection area. Definitely not your average 7/11 store and much needed in the area since Dominick's closed a while back. Check it out! read more

Something has changed in this store and not for the better. The place used to be better stocked, with inviting floor displays tempting you to buy goods just inside the door. Those displays are now gone. Whether this is for reasons of safety, corporate policy or thrift, it makes the store look bare and it is not a good development. Also, I saw a bunch of FLIES in the donut cabinet today. When I alerted one of the cashiers to this fact, he apologized and then said that they knew about it and they were going to do something to fix it. The only question I have is why were they continuing to sell donuts out of this fly-infested cabinet? Even if far worse things go on in the food business about which consumers know nothing, this is beyond gross. I should also imagine that it is a violation of food sanitation/health code. read more

Everything is overpriced. Old promotional slurpee cups are 1.39 instead of 1.99. So that's one thing that isn't overpriced. But it serves its purpose for late night needs, glaring flaws aside. Oh and unlike the other 7's a few blocks away there isn't really any panhandlers at all hours. read more

I was there yesterday to purchase a non-OEM charging cable for a friend's iPad; however, it turned out she did not need it afterall. Today, I tried to return the unused, still in the original packaging item but they told me it was policy to not accept returns of merchandise. However, nowhere on the receipt is that "policy" stated.
