Walked in because I recall this being one of the must try spots while in Chicago. The staff did not say hello, can I help you? NOTHING! Just looked at us like we were lost! I said don't even worry about it and walked out! Donuts were doughy and undercooked. Strawberry glazed still have tasty sugar on top. Blueberry old fashioned had no blueberry and the blue glaze didn't taste anything other than sugar. For 14 dollars for 2 donuts and a coffee (not all donuts qualify for the breakfast deal) of 2 donuts and coffee for 7 dollars so I ended up ordering more, spending more, and unhappy on all sides. We went here for the luck of the bite.First tasters event. We tasted the new donuts and drinks that Stan's is offering for Saint Patrick's day this year. We went to the doors marked 750 North Rush Street and they were locked. Stan's is actually a little farther north, almost on the corner of Rush and Chicago. That's location is very clean, the doughnuts are fresh, and the employees are really nice. They have the cutest seating area with lots of space in between tables. We would definitely stop in here again when we're in the area. read more

We stopped by after lunch this week and truthfully I was nervous about the experience because sometimes when you have a business in a touristy area, you get crappy service. That was not the case here. We stopped in for 1/2 dozen donuts and an extra one for our dentist friend. The service was amazing and helpful. My kids love the donuts and I enjoy all the fun and unique flavors, as well as gluten less options! I've tried several coffee beverages and they are just okay. Breakfast sandwiches are decent and pretty big. The eggs taste like fresh scrambled instead of a frozen patty. The rewards program adds up pretty quickly for free items too. Randomly stumbled upon this place while visiting Chicago and noticed how many people were sitting inside and the donuts caught my eye immediately! So I'm usually not a "donut" girl but there was something about all the pink in there that made me curious to go inside. Unsure of what to order, I was suggested by the guy working at the counter to try their signature donut which was a sugar glaze layered croissant donut stuffed with cream cheese icing. I've been thinking about doughnuts lately; it has been a while since I had a good one. You know, a good yeast doughnut that is thick, tender, and toothsome. So that was probably why I was telling my sister I wanted a Chicago doughnut on our way to Riverwalk. And as if conjured up by my longings, Stan's Donuts appeared as we turned the corner. A line was already forming as we entered. While I wanted to sample many of the gems in the glass case (fritters, jelly, chocolate-covered), I knew we were having deep-dish pizza for lunch and did not want to be too full. In the end, I went with the cruffin and the PB&J. I enjoyed my little treat by one of the large windows, in one of the cute PINK leather armchairs. I loved the decor here, especially the PINK seating throughout the space. The cruffin, a porte-manteau for a doughnut made of laminated dough and baked in a muffin tin, was fresh and flaky. I liked the vanilla pastry cream piped throughout and the crunchy cinnamon sugar topping. Mindful of lunch, I only had half of the cruffin and decided to save the other doughnut for breakfast the next day. Service was slower than I would have liked. This was my first visit to Stan's. I was walking around and passed multiple Stan's locations. I popped in and ordered a vanilla glazed cruller and a hot tea at the North Rush Street location. In search of a little treat (TM), I decided to stop into this Stan's location as it is in the orbit of my daily rounds. I came in after the morning rush, probably closer to lunchtime, for an iced cold brew and some type of accompaniment. Branching out from my usual donut order, I opted for a savory spinach and feta pastry. Served warm, it was perfectly flaky and filled with a creamy spinach and feta mixture. Definitely the perfect choice to power me through the rest of my errands. This location is spacious and features ample counter and table seating. I grabbed a donut and coffee on my way to the train station. The Nutella filled chocolate donut was disappointing. I am not sure if it was the texture/dense donut or the lack of Nutella. I was expecting an airy donut filled with Nutella, but instead it was more like a dense croissant with a smear of Nutella on the inside. read more

We've been to several Stan's (mostly this location) and have always had a good experience. They offer a large variety of donuts (and drinks) to choose from that are always delicious. Plenty of seating, clean (as much as they can be during a rush) & cute interior. The gentleman at the counter was kind, smiley and helpful. We knew we needed to stop here. So glad we did. I had an apple fritter and a maple long John (unfilled). My lovely had a croissant and vegan chocolate covered donut. All were so darned good. My apple fritter was super fresh. It wasn't laden with a sugar glaze, which is a good thing. When my lovely saw my long John was unfilled, I had to give it up. So good. I adored this place! FABULOUS study environment - there's the optimal location obviously, then a ton of chair seating (little tables/corners), & this huuuuuuuge elegant, pink booth where I sat briefly with my coffee & the woman across from me had plenty of room to have her laptop, textbooks, coat sprawled out - we took photographs of each other (women supporting women!) because the environment was just SO chic & cute! Okay, okay, now to the coffee & treats. They were out of vegan options for food :( :( :( (I came in at around 7-8pm) but I got a large latte with either soy or oat milk. They have several non-dairy options! The bathroom has a urinal! I mean, obviously that's not relevant to me, but it's relevant to men! So they can avoid urinating on the seat for us ladies :) okay this Yelp review just got way out of hand. I know, it's strange that I was pleased to see a urinal, but I feel like that's super rare & yeah hahaha that's all I've got to say on the matter. The cafe is very quaint and welcoming. There's another small booth (could seat a small family) right when you walk in. The place wasn't as clean as I wanted it to be, but nothing stood out. It was the end of the day, so maybe I'm remembering some wrappers and cups on tables or something. There were a lot of people having conversations or working, but even though it was such a busy time of day for such occurrences, there were still open tables. I would 100000% return. A quick and easy coffee/donut chain around Chicago. I think you come here for the convenience not necessarily the quality. You can tell they used the sweet matcha powder here. Line could get long so I would just order online ahead of time. Also wished they had a separate pickup line/signage for pickup orders so you don't have to wait if it's ready. Skip this place and go to a mom & pop shop... Depends on what you like in a doughnut joint. Stan's is the opposite of what I like. It has a very polished look with staff that doesn't want to be there. Highly themed place with a film of dirt on everything. The doughnuts were average at best, with the exception of the strawberry glazed which was pretty good. The coffee sufficed, but when I go to a doughnut shop I think the coffee should be plain. Stan's has "local" craft coffee which I thought clashed with the doughnuts. To me that decision seemed like an attempt by Stan's to be less corporate and "soulless"than they really are. A regular diner style coffee truly compliments a doughnut better. If you truly want to support local, go support those craft coffee makers directly, or better yet go to a mom and pop doughnut shop. read more

I heard a lot of hype about Stan's Donuts so I decided to give it a try. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and the line was super long and wound through tables where people were trying to eat and talk. Felt a bit awkward but I think that's par for the course with such a popular place. By the time I got to order there weren't many choices left so I went with the toffee donut and a drip coffee. I couldn't find a place to sit (even being just one person) so I stood and ate by a ledge near a door which worked out for me since I couldn't stay too long. I was disappointed that the donut tasted more like a chocolate drizzle rather than toffee even though the bits were visible. I might come back to a Stan's if I see there isn't a huge line and try something else, but I wasn't impressed by this visit unfortunately. read more

Every time I visit here, it's apathetic employees day. They range from eye rolls to whatevers. The donuts are fine, but a simple request not to use a bag (a sleeve was fine) turned into a battle of wills. A request for a cup of ice was totally ignored, even after asking nicely four dang times.
